Lol. That regen sounds like fun. Is he any good, my regens for my first season are shockigly bad. I released all but three and even they will struggle to make it to a prem team.

10 games into the season in the league.

Home record:

Played 5

Scored 5

Won 5

FORTRESS WHITE HART LANE!!!

Only had 2 draws (Newcastle and Birmingham, both 1-1, they scored first) and 1 loss (ManUtd, Ronaldo penalty)

Beat Chelsea 1-0

In the league I've only scored 2 or more on one occasion and I've never won or lost by more than a 1 goal margin... I've only scored 10 and let in 4.

Playing a 4-1-4-1 formation found on the tactics forums and It's solved my possession and defensive problems from last year. Now dominate home games. But it doesn't create enough goals.

k so ive ran thru pre season about 3 times till i finally asembled a squad im happy with.

outs: berbs, jenas, zokora, huddlestone, lennon, o'hara, tainio, rocha, pekhart.

ins: huntelaar, luka modric, jorge valdivia, mattias fernandez, vincent kompany, andres d'allesandro, jean makoun, cristopher samba, cavalieri, Bogdan stancu

my team look something like this.

gk: robinson

dr: hutton

dl: bale

dc: kompany

dc: woodgate

dm: makoun

mr: valdivia

ml: fernandez

mc: modric

tm: huntelaar

fa: keane

subs:

chimbonda

kaboul

samba

Dawson

Kp Boetang

d'allesandro

malbranque

bogdan stancu

bent

cavalieri

so far i've played 10, won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3. I drew at home to man utd, and my losses were away at pompey, away chelsea, away arsenal. so all in all ive done ok, expecially considering half my team have never played together.

my best signings have been makoun, who is playing as a dm playmaker, keeps it simple very much like a makelele. Huntelaar has done a good job as a target man with balls into feet, chipped in with assists and goals. Apart from that valdivia, kompany and stancu have all stood out by getting goals. a little dissapointed with modric and fernandez but im sure they will adapt.

btw i based my tactic on wwfans theories, which i recomend highly:

Have gone into 2nd season, currently sitting top after 4 games, 3 wins 1 draw. Managed to beat Man Utd away! Usually a 3-0 defeat there but Keane scored 80th min winner.

Have a pretty good squad, just need another backup left & right mid.

Team as follows:

1st X1

Robinson - Super Keeper

Hutton - Solid, improving

Bale - Looks good

Woodgate - Best CB

King - He is the King

Lennon - Pops up with odd goal

Capel - Super buy, fans love him

Thiago Motta - Good def abilities

Van Der Vaart - Started 2nd season slow but is picking up form again

Keane - There's only 1 Keano

Berbatov - Best player on team

Backup:

Niemi - Bought for 100k

Chimbonda - Will probably be last season

Gilberto - Showing his age

Kaboul - Plenty of potential

Dawson - 3rd choice

Malbranque - Good squad player

Zokora - Again good squad

Jenas - Accepted 7.5m bid from Everton but he decided to stay, that's good commitment from my point of view

Bent - Pops up with fare share of goals

Tevez - Rotate him with front 2. Bought from Utd for 12.5m

O'Hara - Bids are huge for him, 9m+, but want to keep. still only young

Taarabt - Looks quality

Huddlestone - Pushes for 1st team place

Tainio - Transfer Listed

Boateng - Handed in Transfer

Stalteri - Transfer Listed

Ghaly - Won't agree terms with anyone!

Gardner - Listed

I feel even with a few injuries I should be ok. I'm doing much better than 1st season already( I know it's only 4 games but I've never come close to being 1st even for a week!)

definetely sell o'hara. a good winger could be valdivia, renato augusto, gabriele torje, andres d'allesandro.

I'm not so sure that can be described as a cheat, it didn't work that well for me I wasn't even the top scoring team from corners!

On the old patches, Robinson is quality, on 8.0.2. he is just crap. If you are going to try to challenge for the title, you really need to get a new keeper for the first season, that should be top priority.

Lloris is a good choice, but you can even go for someone younger, it would be more of a risk, but they could develop very much, and a younger keeper would be even cheaper.

For the people you want to sell, i kind if agree. But i wouldnt sell some of them until you have decent backup. Rocha, Zokora and Lee is good squad players. I usually play Rocha alot the first half of the first season and sell him for about £3mill in January.

Lee is good backup for the wings, but now that you got Gunter you really dont need him anymore, and Gunter really needs all the matches he can get.

Zokora is a good hard working CM, and in the second season when you get 7 substitutions he is a really good player that you can send in when there is 20 min left. On my game, he also developed quite good trough the first season, gaining nearly 1 in all stats.

Link to post

Spurs 9 consecutive title + 6 ECCs etc

Robbo,Chimbonda,King, Keane, and Berbs were kept until their CA dropped.

Robbo will keep Lloris out of team for the first few seasons and then will be quality backup.

Played none of those listed and Samba 1.1m Guilherme AM/FC, VDV and Fernandez were key first season buys.

On my game Robinson is phenomenal. He's England number 1 and my coaches say he would be a leading star in any team. Regularly gets high ratings and his stats have improved a bit in two years and my coaches say he no longer has any weaknesses.

At the moment I'm going on the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' theory with keepers. Although I struggle to get a good keeper on loan fpr every season...lol

I am currently in late January, 2011 (end of transfer window).

Have been around for 3 complete seasons and won 3 EPLs and 4 Cup titles (2 FA, 2 League), plus a UEFA Cup in my 1st season. No luck in CL so far - hopefully this year.

My current squad, 4-2-3-1 formation, (starter first, recent acquisitions with *):

Bouzanis / Delle

Richards / Abenzoar / Chica

Atienza / Mussachio

King / Breno

Sakho / Bale

Il Makoun / Hamsik / Bolzoni

Mascherano* / Cana

Wijnaldum / Torje

Van der Vart / Alex / Dalla Valle

Malbranque / Daniel Carvalho

Berbatov / Zeefuik / Alvarez

Major disappointments in signings:

- Kameni since Bozanis needs to mature - has been terrible and I sold him - 11 million, 13 games and I sold him for 7 million.

- Robert at the striker position to have a more seasoned backup to Berbatov - never played well as well.

I still have some issues on defense, even though Bouzanis gets better and better and my side defenders are excellent (Richards and Sakho).

Tried to sign Cristian Zapata from Bayern. The guy is 25 years old, he has been with his National Team for 28 occasions and still I had his work permit denied.

Could anyone tell me what is the cryteria for that? It was absolutely ridiculous, he's been in Europe for ages and his reputation is Continental.

Anybody experienced the same kind of issue?

Anyway, now I have to wait until June and 36 million euros for transfers this season won't be spent.

By the way, I am undefeated in England this season. Lost my last game in Group Stage of Champions playing Fenerbahce in Istanbul with my reserves already qualified, and that is my only loss so far.

Highlight has been 3x1 win in League Cup first leg at home against Man Utd and the same result against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the EPL.

Still looking for a good lone striker to start resting Berbatov more, World Class CB and solid seasoned backup keeper. A shadow for VdV will be good as well.

Comments and criticism on the squad are welcome.

My tactics were developed by myself based on Googen but using a 4-2-3-1 formation with DMs and AMs - no MCs.

Oh, another comment. Incredible how in January my reserves which are listed become injury-prone. Ongoing trend for seasons now...the same in the 1st team. As soon as I list a guy, a phenomenon occurs that has someone from his position out for 3 weeks or so. Aren't those 'coincidences' a funny fact of life?

Also amazing that, having had the best run ever in the history of the Spurs, I ran out of a sponsorship contract last season and there is no sign of replacement so far. How come the most succesful team in England and one which is already on the top 10 list of the richest in the world can't find a sponsor?

Cheers,

Tele

Hi Knap,

Thanks for the insights!

I am 'allegedly' happy now at the DM spot. By the way, what do you guys think of Mascherano?

I don't follow Liverpool matches but IRL I've always been a huge fan of his play before he went to England, both in River and Corinthians, and also for the Argentinean National Team.

Is he no good in FM?

Managers Review

My personal highlights were:

• Creating a good solid tactic set based on 4-1-3-2

• Kahlenberg providing a number of vital assists

• Jenas proving me wrong and almost walking away with my Player of the Year award

• Chimbonda saving me money and filling the RB spot when Hutton was performing poorly

• Keane & Berbatov scoring 59 goals between them

• King & Woodgate making 50 plus appearances each

• Robinson keeping us in more games than I care to mention

• Winning the Carling Cup

• Winning the UEFA Cup

• Beating West Ham in the League, at Home 7 – 0

• Beating Arsenal in the League, away 3 – 1

My personal lowlights were:

• Hutton being far to inconsistent

• Not being able to find a consistent DMC, between Zakora, Huddlestone & Hubschman

• Bale getting a long term injury towards the end of the season

• Buying Cani and expecting a lot, but got very little

• Losing away in the League to Man United 5 – 2

• Only finding 2 wins in our last 10 league games, which cost us finishing 4th

My hopes for the next season are:

• Finishing 4th in the league

• Strength the squad to give us more quality in depth

• Convert draws into wins

• Players such as Jenas & Kahlenberg to keep on improving

• Players like O’Hara, Huddlestone, Kiebling & Kaboul to force the way into the starting eleven

• Keane & Berbatov to keep up with their partnership

• King & Woodgate to stay fit and provide the same stability at the back as they did this season

• To get some quality youngsters coming out of the Academy

I should have said i updated the 8.0.2 patch and removed the injuries, so i had a fully fit squad.

People may think it's a cheat, but as most of the players who start with injuries are now fit, it seemed stupid to start a game with them still injured, when they are now recovered.

Did you select the link TT&F within the post? Because that gives you an idea of how the tactics work and against which formations to use them against. I think if you just downloaded them and didn't read the information provided from the TT&F link, then this might explain why they didn't work.

IF you did then there are plenty of tactics in the Tactic Forum at FM_Britain just select the link: http://www.fm-britain.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=9

Well why don't you play a test season or half where you can get used to picking the right tactic.

This way you can replay games that you lose or draw and see if by choosing a different tactic the outcome would have been different.

If you do this then you will be better applying the right tactic when you start your game for real.

Anyway, that's my suggestion, but as i said in my previous post, you can view different tactics at fm-britian, so maybe you will find one there that you like.

Guys,

Here's my squad, we won everything this year so far (EPL with 5 games to play, undefeated), just FA Cup and Champions League to play final and semifinals respectively.

My best season so far, however, the team which was once very determined is now described as fairly professional. I think it's time for some new and determined blood.

Here's the squad, April 2012:

GK

Bouzanis / Delle

DR

Musacchio / Richards

DL

Bale / Sakho

DC

Atienza / Breno

King / Sakho

DM

Hamsik / Mascherano / Bolzoni

Il Makoun / Cana

AMR

Wijnaldum / Malbranque / Torje / Alex

AMC

VdVart / Malbranque / Daniel Carvalho

AML

Malbranque / Daniel Carvalho / Alex

ST

Berbatov / Zeefuik / Francisco Alvarez

I want to replace some of the starters with very determined world class players.

Currently thinking about:

1 - Felipe or Zapata at DC to replace King on the long term - who's better? Any other ideas?

2 - Anderson at AMC to create a competition with VdV - I'm a big fan of his play IRL and even though I think the game does not make him justice I'd like him to play for me - but if you feel there are better alternatives, let me know...I can't see more than one season left for VdV at full strength

3 - A very determined striker which could be used effectively as a lone targetman, still unidentified

4 - A strong and experienced goalkeeper who relished big matches, unidentified as well - Kameni was a big disappointment

Advice welcome.

I thought about Silva and Bojan (both are in Valencia now) - but I don't know how they will perform in a lone striker spot. Torres seems to do that fine as per some reviews but his finishing is only 15 in my game (heading 17).

Cheers,

Tele

VDV Did 10 seasons at top, then the CA drops like a stone.

Huddlestone

Just use Kimz plug and play tactics not 442 but saves messing around with tactics.

Played as the most overrated team on FM and VDV, Fernandez and Guilherme walked into side, just buy those and Samba, the future stars on a free, then no need to spend for many years.

I've just started a game with spurs, made the following deals so far...

Sergey Ignashevich - free: Woodgate is injured at beginning of game and not a big fan of Dawson. On a free may as well.

Lorik Cana - £7.5m: quality DM at a reasonable price

Jerko Leko - £4m: I really like this player. All round good stats. has a good cross on him and is also quite physical and has good work rate.

Rafael van der Vaart - £13.25m: star man to partner Cana in the centre, team built around him.

Leonardo Ponzio - £4.5m: don't know much about him but seems to be highly rated and a capable backup for Cana. First couple of games been poor.

outs:

Pascal Chimbonda - £6m to Man City: Already have Hutton so easy decision to sell.

Aaron Lennon - £9m to Inter: helps fund other transfers and Leko replaces him on right.

------------Bent----Berbatov----------

Modric--van der Vaart---Cana------Leko

Bale--------King----Woodgate----Hutton

Thanks for the insights!

I am 'allegedly' happy now at the DM spot. By the way, what do you guys think of Mascherano?

I don't follow Liverpool matches but IRL I've always been a huge fan of his play before he went to England, both in River and Corinthians, and also for the Argentinean National Team.

Is he no good in FM?

Cheers,

Tele

I find that in the DM position he is bad because on my liverpool game he usually gives away the ball and ends up with 5 or 6 but he is prettydecent in cm.
