robertcornell68
Playing as Cambridge United in the BSP, so resources are short. Basically, both my DRs are injured. So is the DM who can play there AND my third best DC. Basically, I have no eligable right back at the club, not even an "ineffectual" one. My question is: is it better to play someone completely out of position or change my formation & tactics?

likesiamesefish
i'd play a left back or a right midfielder with good stats for defending
Mystere1666
I would personally not change the whole team to deal with that issue. Changing tactics will drop the performance of your whole team, while playing one totally unsuitable player there will only give you 1 weak link. I would even play a striker there before I change tactics
ronaldo_rooney
choose the player with the best atts for rb and maybe adjust his settings to accommodate him, players can perform well out of position
Mystere1666
players can perform well out of position This is definately true, I have played a ineffectual DC as right back for a while and he had ratings over 7 every game. He was quick tho, and had pretty nice stats for the position anyway. Covering an injury crisis with a defensive minded player out of position is better then changing tactics in my eyes (allready said that but still). Chochip
After the patch it seems there are more in-game injuries, usually around 3-4weeks. Approximately a player gets injured every 3 or 4 matches, not the same player of course. It's not nearly as bad as the early 09 injury crisis, but it's pretty significant. But you might say it's realistic. I think the average injury length is a little bit too long.
likesiamesefish
yeah i think the average length of injury should be a week to ten days but it's written in how long the injuries will be. i like the fact there are more injuries and fatigue plays a bigger part as, even though i'd never thought of it before, it has been unrealistic in the past. x42bn6
Pick a defender, preferably a left-back and tell him to keep things simple. Left-back because they'll likely have the attributes to play at full-back - just not the right-back positional sense nor the correct footing.
robertcornell68
Thanks for the tips. I decided that my ball-winning MC would make a decent right back. (Slow but good tackling, positioning & determination.) Lost 3-1 Histon (local derby) but he didn't do anything wrong. (rating: 6.4) I always assumed out-of-position = automatic-bad-game. nine_iron
I have had players who just could not play out of position and players who played better out of position but sadly not all the time, hard lesson to learn that was!
