roversawh7
Some of you may remember the analysis of regens spawned in England in FM2009. This year I am ready to start up my FM10 version, which will once again cover England and also include Austria (same league reset date). Here is last year's thread if you want to a look at how this will end up looking: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=108196 I will lay out this opening post for the start of the experiment in 2009 to give you an indication of the format of future full updates. News: This section will recap who won each of the major competitions each year as well as any other interesting items. There will also be narrative on how the two tracked teams in the experiment do as well as some numbers on the regen intakes in each country. Just like last year, the team in England that I am focusing on will be my Blackburn Rovers. They start the game with a reputation of 6400, 6329780 in the bank, 500000 for transfers, 545670 for wages, and 23481 in average attendance. I will update those figures every year for you. The Austrian team that will be tracked is Grazer AK (GAK in the game). They start in the third tier of Austrian football with a reputation of 4000, which is the second-highest for a team outside the playable leagues. Their average attendance is 7372. The first intake of regens is not a full one, but only happens at the clubs that need more youth players to fill out their teams. In the first group in England, the high CA was 93, with one other topping the 90 CA mark. On the low end, the CA was 3 and the PA was 6. In Austria, the high CA was 86, with one other topping 80 CA and the lows were CA 6 and PA 13. A couple of other numbers of interest will be the amount of players moving between the two loaded leagues. At the start, there are 14 Austrians playing in England and 1 Englishman playing in Austria. Nationalities: Ever wonder what percentage of regens are not from the country of the team? I will be counting up the regens and nationalities in each intake. This should give you a pretty indication of the possible range of regens you can get without any special scouting knowledge or other factors. Here are the 2009 numbers: England: 0.13% 1 Australia England 0.13% 1 Canada England 0.13% 1 Costa RicaEngland 88.80%674England 0.26% 2 England Anguilla 0.66% 5 England Australia 0.40% 3 England Cyprus 0.26% 2 England Dominica 0.13% 1 England France 0.26% 2 England Ghana 0.13% 1 England Greece 0.13% 1 England Grenada 0.13% 1 England Guinea-Bissau 0.13% 1 England Hong Kong 0.40% 3 England India 0.92% 7 England Ireland 0.53% 4 England Jamaica 0.13% 1 England Montserrat 0.40% 3 England N. Ireland 0.53% 4 England Nigeria 0.26% 2 England Poland 0.79% 6 England Scotland 0.13% 1 England Spain 0.13% 1 England St. Lucia 0.13% 1 England Togo 0.26% 2 England Trinidad & Tobago 0.40% 3 England Turkey 0.92% 7 England Wales 0.13% 1 N. Ireland 0.26% 2 N. IrelandEngland 0.13% 1 Somalia England 0.13% 1 Wales 1.71% 13 Wales England Austria: 87.95%73 Austria 1.20% 1 Austria Bosnia & Herzegovina 1.20% 1 Austria Croatia 2.41% 2 Austria Serbia 7.23% 6 Austria Turkey Blackburn: This will be the section for Blackburn's regens once they get a youth intake. I will be collecting the nationality, position, and PA of each player coming through. I will also note if any regens get dubbed as the next version of a famous player. Each year I will be tracking their CA and any transfers they make. Grazer AK: This will be the section for GAK's regens once they get a youth intake. I will be tracking all of the same things as with Blackburn's regens England High PA: I will be tracking all regens spawned at an English club with a PA over 170 since that is the lower bound of -10 PA and a bit of a divider between the elite players and everyone else. Again I will be tracking the nationality, position, PA, CA, and transfers of these players. Austria High PA: I will do the same thing for regens in Austria as I am in England, but my cutoff will be 150 instead of 170 as this is the lower bound of -9 PA and any Austrian who reaches this level would be considered a real star. Interesting Screenshots: I will be combing the game and Genie Scout results for interesting screenshots to display for you. Last year these include star regens (usually 180+ CA) and international squads at major competitions so you can see the club breakdown of different national teams. This year, 8 screenshots will definitely be included in each season update. These are the transfers in the Premier League and Austrian Football Bundesliga as well as the teams of the year in those two leagues. Also included will be the World Rankings and team of the year and the UEFA Coefficients both by nation and by club. There are not a lot of things to take screenshots of yet, so i will show the top two regens spawned at the start of the game in both England and Austria. roversawh7
2010: News: Good to see some people from last year on the thread again. The first season of the game saw some favorites win the leagues as Manchester United game out on top in England and Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. Inter broke their Champions League drought while Athletic Bilbao captured the Europa League. Ried wins the Austrian FA Cup, with QPR winning an all-Championship affair in the FA Cup. Chelsea top Blackburn in the League Cup. Besides the cup run, there was not much going on for Rovers with a 14th place finish. Reputation jumps by 76 to 6476, with only 387940 in the bank, 1621970 for transfers, 573050 for wages, and unchanged average attendance of 23481. The training facilities also dropped to 16 from 17. Grazer AK lost in the 1st round of the Austrian FA Cup and did not get promoted this season. Their numbers are unchanged as they will not have full financials until they are playable. They theoretically have 3590 for transfers. Interesting figures on the first set of regens. The high CA in England was 126 with an incredible 27 over a CA of 90. I picked CA 90 as a cutoff because very few FM08 CAs started above that mark and that is about the level player that would cause you to notice the player if you got him as a Premier League team. The low CA was 1 and the low PA was 2. In Austria the high CA was a respectable 102 with 6 over 80 and lows of CA 3 and PA 11. There are still 14 Austrians in England and 1 Englishman in Austria. roversawh7
2011: News: The Premier League crown returns to Merseyside... to Everton of course. A rather shocking win for them as they basically had the same team as they started with the game with. The Austrian champion is Sturm Graz, the fellow stadium tenants of the team we are tracking. Manchester United win the Champions League again and Lazio win the Europa League. Manchester City lifts the League Cup and Wolves beat Blackburn in the FA Cup, while Rapid Wien wins the Austrian FA Cup. Italy beats Argentina in the World Cup. Fabio Cappello is let go by England, but hired by Italy. Stuart Pearce is his replacement. Big Sam lasts slightly longer this time around than last year's experiment. Alan Shearer made the return to Ewood Park before they could get relegated like last year. Rovers finish in 15th as their reputation rises by nearly 200 to 6643, 6106370 sits in the bank, 9371610 is available to improve the team, 610680 is there for wages, and the average attendance drops slightly to 23138. There was in fact a good regen from last year, but bad news for one guy this year as he is dubbed as the next Paul Ince. For Grazer AK, there was another quick exit in the cup in the first round and they failed to win promotion to a playable league again. Reputation dropped by 2 to 3998 as average attendance stays steady. This crop of regens in England had a high CA of 123 with another high mark of 18 over CA 90. The low end was CA 1 and PA 2 again. In Austria, the high mark was a CA of 104, with 4 over CA 80. The lows were CA 1 and PA 2 like in England. The number of Austrians in England increased from 14 to 17 as there was still 1 Englishman in Austria. The screenshots in this update includes the good Austrian regen in this bunch and 3 English ones. The last English one will have an interesting choice between England and Greece. The last four pictures are some more top regens from the first couple sets around the world. roversawh7
2012: News: We are rolling right along with the updates here. Manchester City gets their turn to win the league title in England while Sturm Graz repeats their feat in Austria. Inter and Barcelona win the two European competitions with 2 Champions Leagues in 3 years for the Italian side. Fulham wins the League Cup, Manchester United wins the FA Cup, and FC Admira wins the Austrian FA Cup. A little more news with ex-players entering management as Henrik Larsson was apparently hired by Portsmouth at some point, because he was sacked during the season. Ryan Giggs pulls a Mark Hughes and takes the Wales job. Blackburn finishes 13th this year. Reputation continues to rise to 6779 as the bank balance drops down to 330260, 5693630 is available for transfers, 628620 is available for wages, and average attendance holds steady at 23138. Grazer AK again fails to win promotion and decided to make an even earlier exit in the Austrian FA Cup by losing in the Preliminary Round. No changes to any of the other figures. This crop of regens in quite weak as no regens were spawned in England with a PA over 170. The high CA in England was 114 with 9 over 90. The low CA was 1 and his lucky PA was 1 too. The 1 Austrian regen with a CA over 80 was the guy at 81, and the lows were CA 1 and PA 5. The Austrians in England count dropped from 17 to 14. Ethan13
Already has shown an interesting thing that the top regen gets released yet one with a PA of nearly 100 less stays at the club. Not the smartest decision there.
roversawh7
I echo both of these thoughts. Was stunned when Rovers released Gardner, but then again, it is Rovers It certainly tops anything that they did in last year's experiment, which was hardly great for them. He ended up signing with Wigan in the Championship before Manchester City paid 500k for him as you will see in this update. Liking what you're doing here, and i randomly decided to follow Barry Larkin Thank you for reading. Larkin looks like he could be a good choice, especially if his career is anything like Barry Larkin the baseball player. Already has shown an interesting thing that the top regen gets released yet one with a PA of nearly 100 less stays at the club. Not the smartest decision there. The team appears to decide on whether or not to release a player when he reaches a certain age. Everyone else got released in this season, so its mainly a timing issue even though they obviously were stupid for dumping an emerging England U-21 in Gardner. roversawh7
2013: News: Spain defends their crown at Euro 2012. Manchester City also defends their league title and adds a Champions League trophy to their cabinet. Last year's winners Inter settle for the Europa League. Red Bull Salzburg returns to the top of the heap in Austria as FC Admira repeats as Austrian FA Cup winners. Arsenal wins the League Cup while Swindon defeats Blackburn in the FA Cup to strike another blow for Championship sides. Blackburn has found some form of consistency in finishing in the same area of the table with another 15th place finish this season. Reputation continues a slow ascent with a 97 point rise to 6876. The financial situation dips slightly as 951580 is left in the bank, but 6326860 can be used to strengthen the team, 628620 is available for wages, and average attendance takes a small drop to 23072. Grazer AK makes their strongest move in the cup by waiting until the 2nd round to drop out, but they fail again to secure promotion to a playable league. Reputation takes a 21 point drop to 3977 with no other figures changing. After a massive down year for regens, the figures are good once again as we get a new high CA of 131 in England and 19 players start above CA 90. The low end is CA 1 and PA 2 once again. Austria has a high CA of 101 with 6 over CA 80 and the lows are also CA 1 and PA 2. We have our first two high-PA regens with dual nationalities as well this season with an England/Dominica player and an Argentina/Austria regen. The number of Austrians in England drops by 1 to 13, but one more Englishman makes the move to Austria. roversawh7
2014: News: Chelsea returns to the pinnacle of English football with a solid title win. Red Bull Salzburg manages a nice double in Austria as they defend their league title and add the cup this season. Birmingham wins the League Cup and Liverpool captures the FA Cup. Arsenal keeps the Champions League in English hands while Napoli keeps the Europa League in Italy. Not surprisingly, Portsmouth is the first team that started the game in the Premier League to fall to League One and they fail to win promotion in their first attempt. Screenshots this year includes our first regen winner of a full England cap. Alan Shearer leaves Blackburn for West Ham and John Williams pays West Brom to hire away Roberto Di Matteo. He guides the team to its usual 15th place finish. Reputation rises again to 6901, a 25 point improvement. 1088590 is in the bank as 9519720 is available for transfers, 587160 is reserved for wages, and average attendance drops slightly to 23002. Grazer AK loses at the first opportunity in the cup and again fails to gain promotion. Their reputations drops by 6 to 3971. A very strong group of regens comes in this year as England has a high CA of 124 and a new high of 28 above CA 90. The lows in both countries are CA 1 and PA 2, while Austria has a high CA of 100 and 3 above CA 80. The number of Englishmen in Austria drops back down to 1, but the number of Austrians in England increases by 3 to 16. roversawh7
2015: News: More interesting events are coming out now as more former players enter management. Manchester City returns to the top of the Premier League while Red Bull Salzburg makes it 3 in a row in Austria. Arsenal defends their Champions League crown while Barcelona win their second Europa League in 4 years. Unplayable Horn are the shock winners of the Austrian FA Cup, while Tottenham takes the League Cup and West Ham wins the FA Cup. Croatia shocks Brazil by defeating the hosts to grab the World Cup. In the aftermath, Marco van Basten returns to the Dutch national team while Fernando Morientes is the new Spain manager. Kevin Phillips is sacked by Millwall, while Nick Barmby is chased out at Morecambe, and Sol Campbell is forced out at Burnley. Sam Allardyce had found a job at Fulham after leaving Rovers, but he is sacked there. In a move that may foreshadow real life, Rafa Benitez is let go by Liverpool only to find a place at Juventus. Roberto Di Matteo's must have paid off as he leads Blackburn to a shock 5th place finish. As a result, reputation soars by nearly 400 to 7289, but the bank balance slips to 522040, 7228600 can be used to strengthen the side for European compeition, 587160 is available for wages, and nearly 2500 more fans want to pack Ewood Park, raising average attendance to 25479. Grazer AK is quickly bounced in the Preliminary Round of the cup again and do not win promotion to a playable league. Reputation rises by 30 to 4001 as the other figures do not change. It is another solid crop of regens as the high CA in England is 130 with 15 over CA 90 and the high in Austria is CA 112 with 5 over CA 80. The lows in both countries are CA 1 and PA 2.
