  1. No point in diluting the thread with a one off bad experience. People want laptops for portability. Next is the price point for people - and they want a computer they can afford that will run FM. FM is different to other games, it's more processor intensive and less focused on graphics. And you can get really strong performance processor laptops these days. Although this might slightly change for FM25 - who knows. Yeh in generalities, a desktop has pros and cons. But at the end of the day - some people request Desktops and that's recommended to them. But nowadays - people want portability, small compact and don't take up a dedicated portion of a room. But we have definitely recommeded desktops to people. All we are doing here is catering to people's budgets first and foremost. How much they have to spend - getting together as a community - and pointing to laptops within their budget that are suited to Football Manager only. Sure some people want other games too - so we can cater to offering suggestion on this. But please do not dilute the thread with warnings (false warnings) of not buying a laptop. Absolutely not necessary.
  2. Just to say - you're probably right - and I'm probably being over cautious. It just makes me really nervous to say something might work when it's unknown. I agree with your assessment - but I will remain being cautious in recommendations until I know more.
  3. So would I - but you still can't guarantee it until the specs are released for FM25. We have no idea what the wholesale changes are to the game - it's apparently totally revamped and using different underlying technology. I bought a new PC before and the specs were excellent on it - and I bought LA Noire to play - and the game would not run on it at all - despite the specs being well above the requirements. I had to contact Nvidea to get an unreleased Graphics Driver - in the end it worked. But it wasn't easy. Nothing is guaranteed, in my experience. I think it's best not to give false assurances on the unknown.
  4. There's no way anyone can tell you if it will handle FM25 - this is going to be a complete refresh of the game and the specs have not been released for it. https://www.footballmanager.com/news/future-football-manager For 800 you could get a decent computer. Both refurbs and good specs. https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/refurbished-acer-swift-go-core-i7-13700h-16gb-512gb-ssd-14-inch-touchscreen-a1-nx.kf5ek.006/version.asp https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/refurbished-hp-omen-16-n0501na-amd-ryzen-7-6800h-16gb-512gb-rtx-3060-16.1-i-a1-79b11ea/version.asp
  5. There's no reason why people can't enjoy older versions if they can't play FM25 due to system specs. I'm still playing FM2012 - quite enjoy this version and the UI is great. I've tried 13,14,15,16 etc. but never got into them. But I keep going with FM12 because I like it.

  7. I'm already doing that - playing FM 2012 Classic games have already been suggested over the years - bringing back classic players in some sort of mode for the game seems to be a popular idea. But not sure hoe feasible it actually is. Why stop with Ronaldo/Messi. Prime Eden Hazard, Ronaldinho, All Barcelona/Real Madrid players 1990-2010 ish Maradona, Pele, etc. But I guess it would be hard to get rights to use players images and names etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------ You can use the editor to create players - there might be some databases in the Editors Hideout.
  8. Steam works through Rosetta - you just install Rosetta on the computer and it works in the background https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT211861 You cannot download the game and install directly to the hard drive - it has to be done through Steam or Epic as they are the Digital Content Manager for license keys - same with Epic. You install Football Manager through these clients - even if you have a physical disc. That's how it works for everyone in the world - except on Mobile Phones, then it's through Google Play or the Apple Store.
