Nelson84
Maybe this idea has been brought up already, but I can't find it using those expressions, so ... It would be great to actually be able to talk to / yell at a player during the game. Situation : the game has started for something like 15 minutes, and your right defender is completely out of it. He's lost two balls in like 5 minutes and only your GK could save you from the worst start ever. So far you have two solutions : - Take him off - Tweak his personal instructions and hope for a change How about scream at him, threaten him with a substitution... or even encourage him, to give him more confidence ? Some coaches just write down stuff on their notebook and wait for half-time, but others never stop moving and shouting. The in-game tactics already reflect a part of the shouting, but the whole psychological aspect is quite absent still. Some players are a little lazy by nature and need to be constantly encouraged (*cough* Vanden Borre *cough*)... being able to shout at the lads who think themselves on holiday might be a really enjoyable addition If not for this year, then for 2010
rougess
good idea, and would be well suited to the 3D as it will be more obvious if our players are out of position, missing easy shots, etc. we should be able to give team talks to subs we're bringing on as well
Galactus
I hate to call your idea pointless but isn't it just the equivalent of changing a players instructions throughout the match, most real players can barely hear the Gaffer anyway. I think it should be a stat of how potent you are on the touchline which influences players morale etc.
glamdring
Depending which side of the pitch the dugout is on you'd have to either have a good pair of lungs or jog around the edge of the pitch and hope the ref and 4th official don't notice in order to shout at your left-back! MSCCG
Some coaches just write down stuff on their notebook and wait for half-time, but others never stop moving and shouting. The thing about this is that it has never been proven that yelling and shouting are in fact better than waiting till half time, so the overall effect of yelling has to be balanced out and not giving players special advantages over not doing it because that would be unrealistic. So in the end this feature would only be cosmetic, basically there would be no point to it.
Nelson84
If it's pointless by now, then let's bring around some ideas to make it worth a thought : Instead of implementing a whole new feature, why not add a couple of options to the personal instructions ? Like adding a player-talk to the lads' instructions screen ? Some kind of motivation / threat talk Thinking about it, some players are really hard to get going... if you encourage them, some go even worse... and if you threaten them, they do run a little more, but they get angry at you overtime... and they start talking sh*t in the dressroom. Even if the "suit wearing" coaches don't do all the screaming themselves, they usually have an Ass man who's pretty much there to act as the team's drill sergeant. You really have two big different categories of coaches : the distant tactician and the squad leader, plus some who are a bit of both. When you watch a game, you can see that players actually look at their coach and try to listen to what they say... that's the man giving instructions. BUT you also see coaches encouraging a player after he made a couple of mistakes... or yelling histerically at him. And that's also what makes this game fun : people who get angry easily usually do so in FM as well : they chose the angry team talk options Getting over your frustration to get the right words out of your mouth at the right time is also a part of the game. If you cheerfully encourage a lazy-ass bastard, he'll just get lazier... If you threaten him, maybe he'll start doing better, but overtime the guy will come to hate you Even if you get him to perform better, he'll start talking sh*t in the dressroom, and all that kind of goodness. I agree that it would be a very minor addition. But if well done, it would be one you'd get to use a lot.
TomHAVFC
most real players can barely hear the Gaffer anyway. Yes they can! Have you ever been to a live football match? You can hear the managers screaming from in the stands so the players can obviously hear him!
Xennaz
Couple this together with individual team-talks (a contradiction) to incoming and outgoing subs and you have a winner.
wardog
I once watched a video on Ian Ferguson (former Rangers player) and it said that if he didnt want to change hed pretend not to hear. But you could always here the manager cristle clear. So maybe add this to the game and add a stat of Listening.
