Any disadvantage to certain PPM's?

I currently have two DC's in my squad, who are world class, and have a marking attribute of 19. I am thinking about teaching them both "Marks opponent tightly". Is there any disdvantage to this PPM or is it all positive?

Against a pacy forward its possible to get caught too tight as the striker races past onto a through ball.

On the plus side though used on a big strong DC with a stopper role can see him mark a forward out of the match.

I always thought that the 'marks opponents tightly' PPM is good for pacey defenders.

also a bigger risk of penalties against you as i found out for my hull city team

hate the " dwells on ball " ppm myself, lost count the number of times midfielders with that lose the ball and set up a counter attack usually resulting in a goal

I gave Yannis Tafer the place shots PPM once and totally ruined him. He went from a goal scoring machine to kicking the ball straight to the goalkeeper just about every time. Since then I've pretty much avoided all the PPMs.

If you ever want to play with a Stopper-Cover system, you're a little buggered if your covering defender marks tight and high up the pitch.

If you're happy to have no one covering, then you're fine (though I never understood what the advantage is, over simply telling them to mark tightly in their tactical instructions).
