Not too big a difference in international experience either (rodwell has 34 caps and Kryvstov 25 caps).

Maybe they feel Rodwell is more professional and Kryvtsov can learn from that

Reputation has a lot to do with it as well I think. Rodwell's must far exceed Kryvstov's.

Squad status determines if a player can be tutored, Kryvstov must be 'backup to the first team' or lower and I'm guessing Rodwell's is 'first team member' or higher.

Has nothing to do with it. I can tutor my 21yo wonderkid, who is marked as indispensable, while I can't tutor a 20yo wonderkid, who is also marked as indispensable.

Rodwell is probably a better player

maybe players can only have had a certain number of tutors in their life time. Or not if some hidden stat is above x. Maybe the professionalism mentioned above.
