Possible to run two FM's at once?

Hello.

Is it possible to run two FM's on the same computer at once? If you try you get a message saying that FM is already running, but is there anyway to override it?

simple answer: No.

Although it might be possible with a virtual machine running and then running it in there(though this could potentially harm your PC doing all that processing!)

or buy 2 computers

No, I dont think so. Not sure why you would want to either, as one version uses up enough of the RAM/processor as it is...

I play a network game with alot of waiting time on the two other players so would be nice to have my own save up on a seperate window aswell

why do you want to do that?

You could probably do it if you were running FM10 and FM09, but not with two fm10's...

Not been tested, but if you copy fm.exe and rename the copy to myfm.exe (or what ever), you might then be able to run 2 verions (fm.exe and myfm.exe), you would need to start myfm.exe first, as the code to check if fm is running will be looking for the process fm.exe.

FM09 & FM10 run together, at least they load together.

creative idea but tried it and it didnt work

Basically, you can't. They will both write temporary files to the same location and would end up overwriting each other's files. The only way I could see it working is if you start each FM under a separate user account and then user fast user switching to swap between them.

But unless you get a second HD, or a virtual PC, then no, you cant.

I tried it with fm10 and fm09 and fm09 said needs to close down.

I'm able to run FM10 and FM09 at the same time with no issues. Then again i have 6gb of ram and a 3ghz dual core processor.

I've attempted this with FM09 and FM10 and FM09 crashes once it begins to be used. Since some people have had success it sounds like there has to be specific conditions set up in order to allow both to work.
