Viking
As we all know, Sven-Göran Eriksson is currently the Director of Football (or something along those lines) at Notts Co. As far as I can remember, staff tend to stay at that role until they retire in FM. Does that mean there's no chance Eriksson will pick up his manager career in FM10, or has this been covered somehow? Richardav
i dont think so. but if you want him to coach another team sometime make him the assistant manager
Viking
I guess I could do that, but it would feel wrong as he's not the assistant manager in real life.
Richardav
or coach but you could say hes helping the manager sometimes lol.
JimboFla
As directors of football have no say in what happens at a club in FM or never leave their position Sven will be just a name and won't continue his managerial career unless of course he takes the Sweden job very soon and that is included in the release day patch. JimboFla
thats why it be good to make him a coach there or somethink That's true, but then, for me anyway, it takes away some realism from the game.

Viking
I notice Lothar Matthäus just signed as a "technical director" for some argentinian club. I suppose he's a goner in the world of FM too, then.
Carradona
He as already decline the job as manager of Sweden, so for this years FM he will be nothing more then a name. Unless someone edits his status otherwise. But "out of the box" he's nothing. Just a name.
pooman2279
I did discuss this with Gripper, sadly we will just be a name till he retires, which is a shame. I wanted to make him a Chief Scout but obviously that would just be a lie.

Abaddon879
How does Nicky Hammond at Reading FC get away with this? He is in the game as a scout, but his role at Reading FC is not a scout. He is closer to a Director of Football than scout. He deals with the transfer signings, not scouting them.

Divide
Frank arnesen had a scout role for Chelsea in FM09 although he was director of youth development
Abaddon879
I have always seen Arnesen as a scouting role, and youth development can be seen as a scout I guess, but looking for youth players not established. I wonder if there are any criteria for people to be made scouts over directors, or vise-versa
