DazRTaylor
The title of this thread is a quote by Vince Lombardi, a former American Football player, coach & executive. I am now "into" FM15 and have recently played an undocumented ten season game as I learnt the intricacies of this new version. As I am on long term sick from work following a prolonged period in hospital, I feel the time is right to once again start a thread in this forum showing my progression in a brand new save. I am going all out so I am going to document all my records during this save. If you are a statto, you will love the first ten posts! Game Type - Career. As I have already played from the very lowest level (I started at Barrow, in the sixth tier in England) in the game I mention above, I am going to start out in Holland, one of my favourite countries to manage in, in Football Manager. I will start in the lowest tier available, which is the Jupiler League. As I love bringing quality youth players through, I will start with Sparta Rotterdam as they have a terrific youth setup. Editor's Used I have added the official SI Gibraltar League. Susie's Real Name Editor. Leagues Loaded Austria Belgium Croatia Denmark England Finland France Germany Gibraltar Greece Italy Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Russia Scotland Serbia Spain Sweden Switzerland Turkey Ukraine Mexico United States Argentina Brazil Uruguay All leagues have been loaded down to their lowest level. Database Size - Large. Other I love developing players so I will tag any player with a YP code if I feel they can become a first team player in time. Also, I will always try to go to a club that has a quality youth setup (Southampton being a must for me).
DazRTaylor
TEAM RECORDS - SINGLE GAME & SEQUENCE This section details the records I have achieved during this save. DazRTaylor
THE MANAGER Introducing myself... I have gone with the recommended starting point for a manager in the second tier of the Dutch league.
DazRTaylor
SPARTA ROTTERDAM Club - Sparta Rotterdam. Nation - Holland. League - Jupiler League (2nd tier). Stadium - Het Kasteel, Rotterdam. Capacity - 10,599. Corporate Facilities - Adequate. Training Facilities - Good. Youth Facilities - Great. Youth Training Category - N/a. Junior Coaching - Good. Youth Recruitment - Established. Media Prediction - 4th. My expectation - 3rd. I think recently relegated NEC Nijmegen & Roda JC Kerkrade will prove to be too strong. Transfer Budget - £87,578. I adjusted this down from a much higher figure so I could sign some free transfers. Wage Budget - £27,699. I adjusted up to this level as the wage budget was fully utilised. Current Wage Bill - £26,221 per week. Squad Some decent enough players here, plus a few I will try to move on. Some quality youngsters though. Squad depth is below. Tactics My preferred tactics throughout my career, will be the following. I will recruit to the tactic, not the other way around.
DazRTaylor
SEASON 2014-15 PREVIEW Media Prediction - 4th. My expectation - 3rd. Transfer Budget - £87,578. Wage Budget - £27,699. PLAYERS Some good additions I think. Players In The majority of my squad have been retained, though I have added a few new faces and sold some others. New Signings Rachid Bouaouzan - Although he is predominantly a left winger, I signed him for the right wing. A free transfer. Nassir Maachi - Free transfer signing for the left wing. Ibrahima Tandia - young, attacking midfielder signed on a free transfer. Laste Dombaxe - Another right winger, this Angolan/English youngster was recommended by my new scout. Signed for free. Abdoulaye Keita - 23 year old French goalkeeper who will be the new number one. Another free transfer. Chema Antón - Despite being only 25, this Spanish central defender has quite a lot of experience already. Signed on a free transfer. Loan Signings Daniel Johnson - Young, Jamaican central midfielder signed on a season long loan from Aston Villa. Júnior - 22 year old Portuguese central midfielder signed on a season long loan from Everton. PRE SEASON RESULTS An embarrassing result here! 4-0 loss to Braintree! :o
DazRTaylor
AUGUST 2014 Results A perfect start to the campaign. The wins at De Graafschap & Roda JC Kerkrade being the highlight. An interesting fact for stattos everywhere: We already have ten different goalscorers this season! League Table Looking good! Players In No one else was added to the squad since the season preview. Players Out No one has left the club since the season preview.
DazRTaylor
This tactic I am using is obscene. It worked wonders in my other save and clearly works (so far!) in this one. Goals galore!
AK22
Good to see you back with a career, Daz The tactic is really surprising me! There's only two defensive minded players (the two centre backs), with no cover in midfield, and the full backs bombing on too; that's a counter-attack waiting to happen, in my eyes, and I'm amazed you're not being ripped apart on the break. Can't argue with the results so far, though. Perhaps you're dominating so much that they can't get out of their half

Can't argue with the results so far, though. Perhaps you're dominating so much that they can't get out of their half Thanks mate. When I used this tactic in my other career, I was repeatedly hammered against the big clubs. For example, I lost 7-2 to Barcelona as Schalke, but I annihilate clubs around me and below me. Kevin Keegan would be proud.
DazRTaylor
SEPTEMBER 2014 Results After a two and a half week break, September was a solid month, though we did suffer our first defeat at FC Eindhoven. A cracking win against top flight PEC Zwolle in the cup was marred by an injury to our electric left back, who is out for four weeks. League Table That defeat to FC Eindhoven has dropped us to second in the table, with Helmond Sport taking over top spot. We have qualified for the end of season playoffs though, should be fail to gain promotion automatically. Players In No one else was added to the squad since the last update. Players Out No one has left the club since the last update.

DazRTaylor
OCTOBER 2014 Results A good month in the league, with three wins out of four with only a draw at promotion rivals Helmond Sport being our dropped points. In the cup, we defeated top flight side Willem II Tilburg in a crazy game by a score of 6-4 at home. Just insane. It came at a cost though, with both of our centre backs picking up injuries. League Table We only lead by a point over second placed Helmond Sport, though we do have a game in hand. Players In Ivan Bandalovski - 27 year old Bulgarian right back brought in on a free transfer to bolster the back line affected by injuries. Aloys Nong - This 27 year old striker from Cameroon arrives on a free transfer. Signed as we are regularly having over twenty shots per game, but not converting many. Players Out No one has left the club since the last update.

DazRTaylor
NOVEMBER 2014 Results We suffered our second league defeat of the season, going down 2-1 at mid table Almere City. Otherwise, a solid month. League Table We have opened up a four point gap over VVV-Venlo & Helmond Sport. Good stuff! Players In No one has joined the club since the last update. Players Out No one has left the club since the last update.

DazRTaylor
DECEMBER 2014 Results Three wins from three in the league, so can't ask for more. As for the cup, we played very well against PSV and even had more chances than they did, but their superior finishing proved significant as they won 4-3. We now have a month or so off for a mini mid season break. On a positive, we kept our first clean sheet since the end of August and like London buses, two more soon followed. League Table We now have a five point lead with a game in hand so we are well placed. Players In No one has joined the club since the last update. Players Out No one has left the club since the last update.
DazRTaylor
By changing the season expectations, it has enabled me to increase the wage budget slightly and this is sufficient for an additional player, should I feel the need.
deltablue
Doesn't seem like much extra to gain from the expectation-raising.
DazRTaylor
Doesn't seem like much extra to gain from the expectation-raising. At this level that small increase has allowed me to bring in an additional player without exceeding my wage budget.
DazRTaylor
JANUARY 2015 Mid Season Break We had two friendlies and their results are below. One against a non league Dutch side IVS and the other versus German giants Hamburg. Both went as expected. Results I thought I was going to have another perfect month in the league after I won the first three games. However, a disappointing home performance against Roda JC Kerkrade spoiled the month somewhat. League Table We have started to dominate as others lose ground by dropping points at regular intervals. Players In Mario Risso - This 26 year old Uruguayan central defender was signed on a free transfer after his agent offered him to me. A classy player for this level. Menno Koch - This young Dutch central defender, who can also fill in at left back, has signed on loan from parent club PSV Eindhoven for the rest of the season. Players Out With only one day left in the transfer window, I have only been able to send Laros Duarte out on loan to Dundee. I do have a number of players on the transfer list, but so far there are no takers.
DazRTaylor
MARCH 2015 Results Three wins from four with a home draw against Helmond Sport spoiling an otherwise perfect month. DazRTaylor
APRIL 2015 Results Another good month, with the only dropped points being a 4-1 defeat at FC Den Bosch, where I fielded a younger side for the experience. League Table With another good month, our lead solidified still further, so much so that the gap to second place is a huge 26 points. Players In No one has joined the club since the last update. Players Out No one has left the club since the last update.
DazRTaylor
END OF SEASON 2014-15 REVIEW COMPETITIONS League An excellent campaign from start to finish, dropping points in only seven games as we romped to the title and promotion to the Eredivisie. Cup Competitions KNVB Beker - We defeated two top flight sides before succumbing to PSV Eindhoven in the fourth round, going down 4-3 at home. PLAYERS Player of the Season Ibrahima Tandia was one of my first signings when I joined the club and the young attacking midfielder was immense all season. Special Mention Danzell Otto may have only joined the club when we had our Youth Candidates Day, but the 15 year old excelled in his six appearances, scoring five goals.
