rancer890
Johan Svensson looks good:thup:I see you got Joe Jacobson the ex Cardiff player. I've got him on my Gundo's save in Wales. He gets a few assists at LB and can play LM as well so a good buy Tough start with many new players few games and you will be firing on all cylinders. Mid table is possible:thup: Oh, I didn't sign him. I signed everyone after (I didn't sign Murray either) August 8th. But Jacobson looks decent, and he'll be in my plans for now. Hope September will be a better month... EDIT: Yeah, Glenn Murray played at Brighton.

rancer890
Gillingham September 2011 3rd: vs Tranmere - League 1 - W 3-0 - Mark Burchill (3) Yes, I finally got a win! A Mark Burchill hat trick, and Svensson got an assist. 10th: at MK Dons - League 1 - W 3-0 - Anthony Grant, Ritchie Jones, Glenn Murray Possession and chances were equal, but we have Svensson, who got another 2 assists. 17th: at Leyton Orient - League 1 - L 0-1 Both teams had one shot on target. Leyton Orient scored on their shot. We didn't. 24th: vs Chesterfield - League 1 - W 3-0 - Fabio Borini (2), Glenn Murray Former Chelsea farmhand Borini scored 2 goals, and Murray added another, and we were up 3-0 by halftime. Svensson got another assist. Standings Guess who got Player of the Month? rancer890
Gillingham October 2011 4th: at MK Dons - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South 2nd Round - W 1-0 - Mark Burchill A solid game, although the goal did come from a penalty. 12th: vs Colchester - League 1 - D 1-1 - Fabio Borini An even game, with even chances. 15th: at Huddersfield - League 1 - L 0-3 We didn't really show up. 18th: vs Scunthorpe - League 1 - W 2-0 - Glenn Murray (2) Two Glenn Murray goals in the 1st Half were good enough for the win. 22nd: at Burnley - League 1 - L 1-4 - Anthony Grant My team doesn't show up away from home...Svensson injured. 25th: vs Northampton - League 1 - D 1-1 - Glenn Murray Can't win at home now. Borini and Burchill both injured. 29th: vs Wycombe - League 1 - D 0-0 Can't score now. 2 goals called off from a bloody offside. Standings Only 1 league win this month. Hope next month is a bit better, although I'm mostly away from home, so hope I suddenly have good away form, which I do not expect... rancer890
Gillingham November 2011 1st: at Watford - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Quarter Final - (D 0-0) - we win 7-6 on penalties Nothing happened in full time, but we can take penalties at least. 3rd: vs Hartlepool - FA Cup 1st Round - W 3-0 - Ritchie Jones, Willie Overtoom, Anthony Grant We can beat up League Two opposition. We came out on top with the win. 12th: at Norwich - League 1 - L 3-4 - Anthony Grant, Glenn Murray, Mark Birchill Horrible luck, as Norwich scored 3 goals in 10 minutes (48th which was an OG, 49th, 53rd) to win. 19th: at Carlisle - League 1 - D 0-0 A horrible game against last place Carlisle, we didn't even get a shot on target... 22nd: vs Stockport - League 1 - W 1-0 - Victor Palsson 22nd minute strike by Palsson was good enough to win, although a red card in the 78th minute made me a bit nervous near the end... 26th: vs Burnley - FA Cup 2nd Round - W 3-0 - Resit Schuurman, Victor Palsson, Adam Miller A dominant win. I wish I could win with such ease in league games... Standings So I'm just outside the relegation zone...I might start selling some players who are at the end of their contracts to avoid losing them on frees. rancer890
Senegal 2011 Year in Review (only African Cup of Nations and World Cup Qualifying will have screenshots) June 6th: at Egypt - Friendly - D 0-0 Even chances in an even game. August 10th: vs USA - Friendly - W 2-1 - Demba Ba, El-Hadji Diouf We didn't have a lot of possession against America, but we had more chances. September 3rd: at Canada - Friendly - L 1-2 - Abdoulaye Faye No, I wasn't playing it easy against the Canadians to boost their world ranking, at least not deliberately. Brighton striker Simeon Jackson (and former Gills player) scored in the 90th minute at BMO Field at Toronto in front of over 14,000. September 7th: vs Japan - Friendly - W 3-2 - Lamine Diarra (2), Papa Bouba Diop Solid game, and a good win. October 8th: at Hong Kong - Friendly - W 3-1 - Mamadou Niang, El-Hadji Diouf, Demba Ba Another win for Senegal, this time against my 2nd nationality country. Looking ahead...2012 WCQ (Africa) 2nd Round - Comoros, Rwanda, Sudan, Senegal - we should win every game. African Cup of Nations 2012 - Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, South Africa - we should advance to the Quarter Finals. World Rankings: 31st
rancer890
Gillingham December 2011 3rd: at Barnsley - League 1 - L 0-4 I rather not talk about the game... 10th: vs Walsall - League 1 - W 2-1 - Mark Burchill, Ritchie Jones We're back to our winning ways - at least for a game. 14th: vs Bristol Rovers - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Semi-Final - W 4-1 - Glenn Murray (4) 2 game winning streak! 17th: at Watford - League 1 - L 0-3 Maybe I should try and develop an away tactic... 26th: vs Brighton - League 1 - D 2-2 - Mark Burchill, Jim McNulty OG An own goal late in the game gave me some relief. 28th: at Peterborough - League 1 - L 1-2 - Mark Burchill During this game, I kind of developed a new tactic. We did score one with it at least. Standings Thankfully, still above the relegation zone. My form needs to improve though if I want to stay in League 1. I kind of developed a new tactic. It's a 4-1-3-2 tactic that I've used before in other FM09 games. It should help with the scoring hopefully. I'm also cleaning house in January, selling all deadwood for cheap to lower the wage bill, and bringing in players I want. All January transfer news will be in the next club update. DodgeeD
A good read so far rancer. I love the fact that you were the manager of Distilery and Senegal at the same time! Good luck for the rest of the season with Gillingham - looks like you've got a relegation scrap on your hands!

The African Nations and Intermediate League Cup in the same season must be a unique double. Good luck for the rest of the season with Gillingham - looks like you've got a relegation scrap on your hands! Thanks Big D. I did win the Antrim Cup too! The most unique triple. I'll need to win at home at the minimum, and hopefully scrap a point here and there on the road. I've brought in a lot of reinforcements so hope that's enough to avoid relegation and possibly the sack.
rancer890
Gillingham January 2012 1st: vs Southend - League 1 - D 1-1 - Glenn Murray One of those games where you should have won but didn't. 4th: vs West Brom - FA Cup 3rd Round - D 1-1 - Fabio Borini Pleased with a draw against Premier League opposition. The red card certainly helped my chances. Hope not to get embarassed in the Replay... 7th: vs Oldham - League 1 - W 4-2 - Glenn Murray, Fabio Borini, Ryan Conroy, Haris Vuckic OG This game was pretty much over after 45 minutes. An important 3 points. 11th: at West Brom - FA Cup 3rd Round Replay - D 0-0 (WIN 5-4 on penalties) A shocking result. FA Cup 4th round. 14th: at Lincoln - League 1 - D 2-2 - Glenn Murray, Johan Svensson Another game, another draw. 18th: vs Colchester - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Final Leg 1 - W 1-0 - Luke Freeman New loan signing Luke Freeman scored the only goal of the game. 21st: at Coventry - FA Cup 4th Round - L 0-2 The FA Cup run comes to an end... 25th: at Brentford - League 1 - W 1-0 - Johan Svensson Starting to win on the road. Svensson scores his 2nd goal for the club. 28th: vs MK Dons - League 1 - D 1-1 - Arnaud Brocard OG An own goal saved us and we got a point. 31st: vs Leyton Orient - League 1 - W 3-1 - Sebastian Advic, Marcel, Glenn Murray Goals by new signings Advic and Marcel help us win this game and stay out of relegation. Standings New signings: GK - Adam Bogdan - free transfer DR - Sebastian Avdic - $10k (Elfsborg) MC - Barry Gough - free transfer (Morton) AML/ST - Nathan Craig - loan MC/ST - Richard Burgin - loan ST - Marcel - free transfer ST - Gavin Edwards - loan ST - Luke Freeman - loan I love finding players in Sweden. rancer890
Senegal 2012 African Cup of Nations Group D with Ivory Coast, South Africa, and Mali Game 1: vs Ivory Coast - L 1-3 Really should have done better, but Ivory Coast is tough opposition. We did lose against Nigeria at the last African Cup of Nations. Game 2: vs South Africa - W 1-0 Scoreline should have been greater, but a win is a win. Game 3: vs Mali - D 0-0 We were on the defensive too much this match. We really didn't deserve to win this game, but the result was enough to advance. Group Stages Quarter-Final: vs Tunisia - D 2-2 (win 6-5 on penalties) An even match, and I was relieved to advance on penalties. Semi-Final: vs Nigeria - L 1-2 A late goal by Yakubu knocked us out of the African Cup of Nations final. 3rd Place Playoff: vs Ghana - L 1-2 A frustrating result with another late goal conceded. Overall, I'm disappointed with my performance. We didn't play as well as I knew my team could play. I think I'm very close to resigning, and fancy a challenge with an European national team. Looking at the attendances, I hope Gabon doesn't host another African Cup of Nations...although the semi-finals and the final had 30,000+ in attendance. rancer890
Gillingham February 2012 4th: at Chesterfield - League 1 - W 1-0 - Marcel An early goal by Marcel gave the team confidence and we controlled the rest of the game and take all the points. 8th: at Tranmere - League 1 - W 1-0 - Luke Freeman A goal by loan ST Freeman early in the 2nd half was enough for The Gills to record another victory. 11th: vs Swindon - League 1 - W 2-1 - Resit Schuurman (2) Two 2nd half goals by my right midfielder led us to a come from behind victory. 14th: at Colchester - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Final Leg 2 - D 1-1 (win 2-1 on aggregate) - Ritchie Jones Colchester scored early by a goal from Shelton Martis, but a Ritchie Jones equalizer in the 68th minute put The Gills fans in pandemonium as we advance to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final against Huddersfield at Wembley. 18th: at Colchester - League 1 - W 2-1 - Fabio Borini, Joe Jacobson We stayed at Colchester for the league match, and beat them again. 25th: vs Huddersfield - League 1 - W 2-0 - Neal Trotman, Marcel We won again, against promotion candidates and my opponent for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final. 28th: at Scunthorpe - League 1 - W 2-0 - Marcel, Sebastian Advic A game we dominated from start to finish. I was a bit worried after 45 minutes, with the score nil-nil, but a 67th and a 85th minute helped me relax a bit. Standings What a difference a month makes! I'm still shocked at what happened in the month of February. rancer890
Yeah, Welsh Wizard, I'm hoping maybe I'll sneak in with the last playoff spot. From relegation to promotion, what a story. Gillingham March 2012 3rd: vs Burnley - League 1 - W 1-0 - Resit Schuurman A 7th minute goal by Schuurman was enough to win and inch closer to that playoff spot! 6th: at Northampton - League 1 - D 1-1 - Luke Freeman The team was outplayed by Northampton, but Freeman scored in the 59th minute to salvage a draw. 10th: vs Carlisle - League 1 - D 0-0 The shots were 15-1 in favour of us. We lost 2 points in this game. 17th: at Wycombe - League 1 - W 3-1- Jamie Young OG, Marcel (2) An early lead from an own goal put the pressure on Wycombe to score an equalizer, which they never did, as we secured another victory. 24th: vs Norwich - League 1 - D 1-1 - Resit Schuurman I was neutral about the draw. We're keeping pace with the other teams for that last playoff spot. Standings One more month in the season left!! I'm hoping I'll be able to sneak into the playoffs and go from there. Welsh Wizard
6 games left I think 4or5 wins are needed to get the last place. Could you regret the draw vs Carlisle big time? will you stay as manager if you miss the play-offs? good luck
rancer890
6 games left I think 4or5 wins are needed to get the last place. Could you regret the draw vs Carlisle big time? will you stay as manager if you miss the play-offs? good luck I hope not. I already have a bit of a stumbling block in early April. I'm still very much in the race for the last spot though. I would definitely need a lot of help and luck. My preference is to stay at Gillingham, although I would entertain offer from other English clubs, and only English clubs. I've already been rumoured to be the leading candidate for the Wolves and Leicester managerial positions, but I probably won't read too much into it. My priority would be to stay with The Gills and aim for promotion next year, regardless of whether I get into the playoffs or not this year.

It was my first loss since late January. 7th: at Stockport - League 1 - W 2-1 - Mark Jones OG, Victor Palsson We narrowly defeated Stockport. I need to keep winning... 9th: vs Barnsley - League 1 - D 1-1 - Luke Freeman We gave up a 92nd minute goal, and we lose 2 valuable points. 14th: vs Watford - League 1 - D 1-1 - Luke Freeman This time, I gave up a 90th minute goal, 4 valuable points lost this month. (and the bloody ref gave Watford a penalty in the 95th minute!!! Good thing he missed.) 6 points out with 2 games left. 21st: at Brighton - League 1 - W 3-1 - Marcel (2), Nathan Craig We won, but it was too late. 28th: vs Peterborough - League 1 - W 2-0 - Marcel, Luke Freeman We end the year on a winning streak. Standings The draws absolutely killed us down the stretch. I'll do an end of season update after the playoffs finish. Former Clubs: Lisburn Distillery - Premier Division - Northern Ireland - 3rd (end of season) - With most of their key players leaving the club, I won't be surprised if the team I built is dismantled quickly, which is a bit of a shame. rancer890
Good squad from the looks of things. Luke Freeman looks immense! Thanks. I didn't find Luke Freeman through scouts or anything, but through the transfer clauses, and I loaned him in January. He did well, so this year, I loaned him for the entire season. He belonged to The Gills from the beginning, so I'm hoping I can sign him permanently one day.
rancer890
Gillingham September 2012 1st: vs Burnley - League 1 - W 4-1 - Luke Freeman (2), Marcel (2) We were in control from start to finish. 15th: vs Northampton - League 1 - D 1-1 - Reinhard Breinburg I had fancied a better result, but I'll move on taking the point. 19th: at Port Vale - League 1 - D 0-0 No excuses here. My strikers aren't doing much. 22nd: at Norwich - League 1 - L 0-1 First loss of the year, because Paul Rodgers scored an own goal. 29th: vs Colchester - League 1 - W 1-0 - Luke Freeman Good to end the month on a win. Standings I've also had a look at the future of the Senegal national team, and I found a couple who I can add to my Gills club: Ibrahima Mbaye, and Pape Cissokho. They need some caps and a work permit. I'll fix that no problem though. I also need a better right midfielder, and my ass man recommended a Dutchman and a Norweigan. I'm still deciding whether to put in a bid for either of them right now. With Gashi, I wouldn't mind waiting till 2013 in hopes of signing him on a free. I wouldn't mind putting in a bid of Roest, although I'll definitely have competition with Championship clubs.

We did win in the end. 30th: vs Morecambe - League 1 - W 2-0 - Marcel, Luke Freeman We didn't have much possession, but errors by Morecambe were costly and my strikers scored in the 41st and 45th+1 minutes. Standings Former Clubs: Lisburn Distillery - Premier Division - Northern Ireland - 6th (after 8 games)
rancer890
Gillingham November 2012 3rd: at Exeter - League 1 - W 1-0 - Ryan Conroy An even match, but we scored more, so we win. 6th: at Northampton - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Quarter Final - W 3-0 - Andrea Mutombo, Fabio Borini (2) We controlled the whole game. 10th: vs Grays - FA Cup 1st Round - W 2-0 - Ryan Conroy, Marcel We were clearly the better team. Grays didn't get a shot till the 90th minute, and that one was off target. Luke Freeman got injured though. He's out till next month. 14th: at Brentford - League 1 - D 0-0 I need Freeman!!! 17th: vs Stockport - League 1 - W 3-2 - Johan Svensson, Andrea Mutombo, Victor Palsson We led 3-0 after half-time. I'm just relieved we got 3 points. 24th: at Watford - League 1 - L 0-1 First loss in a while. We didn't deserve any points this game anyways. 27th: at Walsall - League 1 - D 1-1 - James Dunne We had more possession, but Walsall had more chances. Standings Former Clubs: Lisburn Distillery - Premier Division - Northern Ireland - 3rd (after 12 games)

rancer890
Gillingham December 2012 1st: at Peterborough - FA Cup 2nd Round - W 3-0 - Sebastian Advic, Fabio Borini, Victor Palsson Even game, but all of our shots were goals, and Peterborough only had one shot on target. 8th: vs Millwall - League 1 - D 0-0 Many opportunities. No goals. Feeling pressure from Burnley for top spot. 15th: vs Preston - League 1 - W 3-1 - Resit Schuurman (2), Marcel We were attacking more during the game than Preston, and more scoring chances meant more goals. 18th: vs Colchester - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Semi Final - W 3-0 - Johan Svensson, Andrea Mutombo Possession was split again, but more attacking opportunities = win! 22nd: at Cardiff - League 1 - W 2-1 - Marcel, Fabio Borini A tough match, as Cardiff dominated most of the game, but I went all attack, and an 85th minute goal by Borini means I'm still in 1st. 26th: vs Leyton Orient - League 1 - W 2-0 - Luke Freeman, Paul Rodgers My team controlled this match against lowly Leyton Orient. 29th: vs Grimsby - League 1 - W 5-2 - Marcel (3), Fabio Borini (2) We led 4-0 after halftime, where the game was pretty much over. Standings Former Clubs: Lisburn Distillery - Premier Division - Northern Ireland - 3rd (after 17 games) Senegal (a bit tired today, so no match screenshots. It's nothing too important anyways ) World Cup Qualifying (Africa) 2nd Round Group 4 May 26: at Sudan - W 4-0 June 2: vs Comoros - W 3-0 June 9: vs Rwanda - W 3-0 June 16: vs Sudan - W 6-0 September 8: at Comoros - W 1-0 October 13: at Rwanda - W 2-0 My Third Round opponents are Angola, Congo, and Guinea. I expect to reach the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

rancer890
Gillingham January 2013 1st: vs Scunthorpe - League 1 - W 2-0 - Luke Freeman, Joe Jacobson A solid win to keep us in 1st. 5th: at Sunderland - FA Cup 3rd Round - L 0-2 Considering that we led Sunderland scoreless for 76 minutes is an achievement. Leadbitter and Bojinov scored for Sunderland. 9th: at Burnley - League 1 - L 0-1 With this loss, I'm still in 1st, but Burnley are only 2 points behind. We also played with 9 men in the latter part of the 2nd Half. 12th: at Wycombe - League 1 - W 1-0- Fabio Borini A 77th minute goal still keeps The Gills in 1st. 19th: vs Chesterfield - League 1 - D 1-1 - Johan Roest We totally outplayed Chesterfield, but only a draw. Burnley overtakes us on GD. 23rd: vs Yeovil - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Final Leg 1 - W 1-0 - Johan Roest A solid win, and hope to get back to the JPT Final. 26th: vs Port Vale - League 1 - W 1-0 - Anthony Grant A dominant win keeps us on pace with Burnley. Standings Transfers Jason Hayward YP3 - $95k - Distillery Johan Roest - $450k - NAC Breda Marino Rikharosson - free - FH (Iceland) Steve Howard - loan - Aston Villa One notable transfer leaving the club is Chris Basham to Conventry for $300k. Quite annoying as some of my good players are starting to want to move to a bigger club.
rancer890
Gillingham February 2013 2nd: at Northampton - League 1 - L 1-3 - Johan Roest 3 goals in 19 minutes by Northampton sealed the victory. 5th: vs Norwich - League 1 - D 2-2 - Luke Freeman, Fabio Borini We were well on our way to victory until the 83rd minute. And an own goal in the 92nd minute. A bloody draw. 9th: at Colchester - League 1 - L 0-1 The horrible month continues. Have no strikers now. 16th: vs Brentford - League 1 - D 0-0 No strikers = no scoring. 19th: at Yeovil - Johnstone's Paint Trophy South Final Leg 2 - W 2-1 - Marcel, Johan Svensson My strikers are back. 23rd: at Brighton - League 1 - W 2-0 - Marcel, Johan Svensson My goalscorers were injured in this match, but nothing major. rancer890
Gillingham March 2013 2nd: at Swindon - League 1 - W 5-2 - Luke Freeman, Marcel (3), Johan Roest Nice solid win against our rivals. 5th: vs Peterborough - League 1 - W 2-0 - Fabio Borini, Johan Roest Two goals in the 60th minute keeps up with Burnley 9th: vs MK Dons - League 1 - D 1-1 - Marcel A bloody 91st minute goal costs us 2 points. 12th: at Morecambe - League 1 - L 0-1 Strikers are getting injured again. 16th: vs Exeter - League 1 - W 1-0 - Andrea Mutombo Our only shot was a goal. 23rd: at Stockport - League 1 - D 3-3 - Johan Roest, Fabio Borini (2) Down 3-1 after halftime, it was a bit of relief to get a point. Of course, I was bloody mad that we were down 2 goals after 45 minutes, which was a disappointment. 30th: vs Walsall - League 1 - D 1-1 - Fabio Borini Luke Freeman injured again. Standings Need some wins in the home streak to clinch promotion. If I don't get promoted...I think I might switch clubs. rancer890
Gillingham April 2013 7th: vs Grimsby - Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final - W 1-0 Winners once again! Although I don't really fancy retaining this title next year...I want to play in the Championship! 10th: at Millwall - League 1 - W 3-1 - Marcel (3) Hat-trick by Marcel! 13th: vs Watford - League 1 - W 4-1 - Marcel (3), Paul Rodgers Another Marcel hat-tricks keeps us in an auto promotion spot. 17th: at Preston - League 1 - W 4-1 - Johan Roest, Marcel (3) Yes, Marcel scored his 3rd hat trick in 3 games. And we are still in 2nd. 20th: vs Cardiff - League 1 - W 2-1 - Anthony Grant, Luke Freeman Marcel got red carded in this game. We still win though. One more win and we're going to the Championship. 27th: at Leyton Orient - League 1 - W 1-0 - James Dunne And we officially clinch promotion to the Championship. May 2013 4th: at Grimsby - League 1 - D 1-1 - Fabio Borini Very fitting that we draw to end the season on another late goal. Standings Full end of season update will come later. Raware
Well done on promotion and retaining the paint pot cup rancer Now it get's difficult in the Championship. I noticed a massive gulf in class between League 1 and the Championship when i made it there. Hopefully, you'll be ok there. If Marcel continue's his form then i see no reason why you shouldn't be.
