  1. Hey all, I'm playing as Landvetter in the 4th division of Sweden. Just got promoted. But every single player I go to sign on a free (I have no money) won't show up until July 20. My season starts in April. If this continues, given the players I want to keep, I'll have roughly a squad of 4 players. I didn't check Disable the First Transfer Window. That was the only thing I could think of. On the save I uploaded, I have a few players in the process of transfers. Hope that helps. Am I missing something?
  2. Hey! Going back to your finances question. I agree that it shouldn't be your problem. Unfortunately, the game doesn't work that way. When you apply for a new job, they will ask you about finances, and it you didn't manage them well at your previous job, it could back to bite you in the ass. If at all possible, try to manage them. But at lower league levels.........it's near impossible.
  3. Cavallini's not bad...but he's not DP material. He had 10 goals last year, which led the 'Caps, but he would have been way too expensive to try an sell. Add on his injury issues and the fact that he's a walking yellow card liability...and that's why he was released. Funny to hear they have a large roster. That's not them at all. Sartini likes small squads with tons of rotation. I think he used the same lineup last year in back-to-back games maybe twice. And yeah, MLS rules are crazy if you're not used to how North American sports. MLS is closer the NHL or NBA rather than other football leagues around the world.
  4. Great write-up on MLS and their funny rules. I'm in Vancouver and follow the Whitecaps from my spot in the press bench (credentialed journalist there), and this is a pretty decent explanation.
  5. I've had that contract fiasco happen before. It's a broken mechanic when you move up from amateur to semi or semi to pro quickly. Your club won't adjust your wages comparably, but you will get a massive pay raise if you move clubs. Strange but seems to be the only way.
  6. Just found this career, and it's a great read! Will definitely be following your success.
  7. I'm curious about one thing... I just got a team in the Belgian 3rd division promoted. It's a U23 team. However, the main team just got relegated from the top division to the second division in the same year. I already know we both cannot exist in the same division next season. So, my U23s will remain champions but not promoted. The interesting thing is, the main team manager got fired. If I apply for his job, will I get all the stupid questions about why I'm applying for a job while I still have one? It's the same club, which is why I'm wondering. Thanks!
  8. That would be quite a while, about 5 more months. Can afford that. I've just started a new save. But appreciate the help!
  9. Alight, I've now gone 2 months ahead and still no change. Can't sign anyone because I was given a negative transfer budget. Unable to do any budget adjustment to move some wage money into the transfer budget because my board won't let me (even though I have way more than enough to do so). Guessing I'm screwed...
  10. The way transfer fees are headed, a billion might not be enough I'm almost a month past when I noticed the issue. Still no change. I'll go a bit further.
  11. Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I don't. I was trying to go ahead to see if it would reset, so I don't have save that far back. I'll go ahead a few more weeks and see.
  12. So I just got promoted to the Swedish top division and got my new budgets for the upcoming season, a healthy wage budget (of which I'm spending about half now) and a transfer budget of ... -$562. Negative. Which means I can't sign anyone because all agent fees, signing bonuses, etc. all come out of the transfer budget. The board won't let me adjust it even though I have way more wage budget than I need. Am I screwed here? Also, will they take a cheque for the $562?
  13. Getting into all the different contract types, roster composition rules, the SuperDraft, Waiver Draft, Expansion draft (if there is one) and all of the other crazy rules that exist in MLS, it definitely makes it interesting!
