    I’d say a hybrid of Matic and Bentancur’s style is quite an accurate description too. Data’s good innit.

    Club Declan Rice does this : for some reason fbref has stopped doing carry stats, but he’s always top of the league for progressive carries too. For West Ham he basically gets the ball, runs forward with it and passes it into the final third. Never seems to do it for England but I think it’s more to do with him having no idea how to play in a possession team to be honest.

    Yeah. I still maintain that Rice is a really good player, but you can tell he plays for West Ham/David Moyes. He’s not on the same level tactically as the other players in the team and slows the play down too much. That Phillips pass for Rashford’s goal was really simple tbh, but Rice would never have even tried it unfortunately.

    In a different era Kane and Wilson start up front together in a direct 4-4-2 and we win every game. Would’ve been the ideal striker partnership back in the day.

    Ideally we get Foden instead of Mount really. Then you can play 2 of the other 4.

    It might be unpopular opinion but Phillips has a much better understanding of how to play in this team than Declan Rice does imo.

    It’s between him, Grealish, Rashford, Saka and Sterling for the wide slots isn’t it. I think Foden has shown more than all of them tonight to be honest. I’d play him and Rashford at the moment.

    i think our play could improve quite drastically if the CBs just missed out the extra pass to the other CB and went direct to the full back instead. Makes it much harder for Wales to shift across.

    It’ll be interesting. One of the issues we had vs USA was that the full backs played too wide in build up, so I’d like to think if it’s Walker right back and Trippier left back they’ll play in-field a bit more and give us better passing options rather than Maguire and Stones passing it between themselves. Worth trying. I still don’t get why Henderson is playing though.
