  1. Doesn't matter what he's playing like for club, his spot for France should be safe.
  2. Would be fitting to see France concede after that. So absurdly selfish.
  3. Of course, but I think that's a door best left closed. Refs already have too much impact on matches. Don't want them trying to interpret things like.
  4. That's just about the best yellow card a defender will ever earn.
  5. Dest played well. Not suggesting otherwise, but that's at least in part because Sterling wasn't doing ****. Dest and McKinnie came off to avoid missing Iran for accumulation. I couldn't tell you why Shaq Moore came on though. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again.
  6. That's such a blatantly BS answer. How has he not been ripped a new one by your media talking that kinda nonsense?
  7. Kane dropping deep and Pickford's distribution were the least of your problems. Mount was poor and really has no business starting for you, especially if you're not gonna press, but he was nowhere near your worst performer. Hell, he was probably your best actual midfielder until Henderson came on because Bellingham looked lost and Rice was hiding. Saka started well, but after the opening 15 or so, your wide players were largely irrelevant... Until Grealish came on to get kicked. I think Robinson deserves some credit for handling Saka, but Dest, a defensive liability, was hardly challenged.
  8. Your press was nearly nonexistent. Perhaps the most baffling thing about the entire match. We have the second (I think?) youngest squad in the tournament. Yedlin is the only player that's been in a World Cup (and he didn't play). We showed in WCQ that we're vulnerable to pressing. Why wouldn't you put a little pressure on and see what happens? Tactically, that was incredibly comfortable for us. Far more comfortable than it should've been against a side expecting to challenge late in the competition.
  9. Fair. We weren't recklessly chasing the game, but we didn't sit back or shy away from it either. Given the experience and limitations of the squad, quite pleased with our approach to the game. Anything more aggressive would've opened us up unnecessarily, while not really creating better chances.
  10. I've only seen a few matches all the way through, parts of others, and some highlights, from that it seems like... England, Belgium, and the Netherlands will be held back by their managers... Spain and Brazil are the early favorites... Ecuador looks a serious dark horse... North American teams can't score. Just about anything could happen in group H and it wouldn't be surprising.
  11. Henderson was fine. Bellingham started okay, but looked lost. And I don't rightly know what Rice was doing. So at least having one midfielder doing something defensively was an improvement, but his sub also coincided with us pulling back and saving some players for Tuesday.
  12. I think you're mistaking our limited ability in the final third for good defending.
  13. Eh? We did go for it (for about 75 minutes). Just like we did (in the first half) against Wales. And when going for it, we've comfortably been on top. But we've got next to nothing from our strikers. Sargent put an early chance against Wales off the outside of the post, then vanished until being subbed off. Wright has been more involved in the build up, but contributed nothing in the final third. I can't even recall him touching the ball in the attacking penalty box. Ferreira was in such poor form, and then not playing, heading into the WC, it was a little surprising he got called up. Given he's yet to see the pitch in the first two, I doubt we'll see him make an appearance. None of the three were in the Gold Cup winning squad, and they collectively played less than the equivalent of four matches in WQC, scoring one goal. And it's not like there was an injury or mystifying snub up front. We just don't have a reliable, established option. Maybe one of these young guys will emerge as that by 2026, but right now, it's costing us.
  14. 0-0 flatters England. Talent vs output, that's about as bad as it gets.
  15. He saved one from Mount in first half stoppage time. Catching practice other than that.
  16. He's on a yellow for accumulation. Also may not think he has the fitness for 90 against a fresh Grealish.
