Sweepstake on which row of the stands Lautaro's penalty ends up in?
(he's blatantly going to score)

What was that French defending? Awful
It's been a very weird game for a lot of reasons, but not having a shot whilst behind for about an hour and being outnumbered in their own penalty area whilst level in extra time is tactically very, very odd
Matched only by how determined Argentina are to give it back

How has Lloris not held that?
Was hit pretty hard. But I do think they coach keepers not to push it straight to Messi...

Upamecano's had a few dodgy moments at this World Cup, but those two blocks are as good as goals

Ferdinand letting recency bias get the better of him. Already calling it the best final he's ever seen.
tbf, if you ignore there being about 50 minutes in the middle that were completely one-sided, it's been compelling. Most international finals don't see two goal comebacks

This is generous, absolutely nothing was happening for them until that penalty
Yep. Coman sub did a bit, but that felt too late.

Lloris ruined the script there

Actually a really good call from the ref that one, especially since the defender has a proper swipe before pulling his leg out the way, and there is [manufactured] contact.
Ref's had a good game tbf. Three massive calls and got them all right.

Coman doing more since coming on than Dembele has done the entire tournament.
Not sure what his form's been like, but amazed he didn't come on earlier considering how sluggish the rest of the team looked
Muani's been a class above the starting XI too

If Argentina don't win this it'll have to go down as the funniest bottling of all time. Seen bigger comebacks, but not involving a team that didn't realise they were allowed to shoot for 70 minutes...
I hit send 10 seconds before that goal, and I don't think I've ever laughed so much at seeing one go in

Should have brought Mbappe on earlier tbh

France have got nothing have they?
Waiting for Emiliano Martinez to get bored and try to gift them a goal again.

What on earth is that bbc half time. No talk about how France get back in the game, but 5 minutes talking about Zabalota's shirt collection
That was the time they'd originally allotted to talking about French attacking play.
In all seriousness, I expected five minutes on Gareth's decision to stay on

Oh no, he has been doing the same stuff for a solid 25 years now, but for some reason the Roma one went viral.
The Roma one was particularly good tbf.

Utterly, utterly dreadful from France. Excited for Reddit weirdos claiming Argentina are winning because of a conspiracy to give Messi the trophy and just completely ignoring France have been dreadful.
Have we got a conspiracy theory that France were intentionally poisoned yet?
(We need one. France are playing like they have 11 Ronaldo Fenomenos on the pitch. Unfortunately the 98 final vintage)

why did that argentine player just die?
Was he the one that got booked? Can't be booked if you're dead

Although I think Argentina playing like this would have blown us away.
Not convinced. They've been good, players like De Paul that haven't always been have properly stepped up and the counter attack goal (through massive gaping hole) was brilliant, but I think Morocco would be blowing France away today and quite a few sides that went out in the groups would be on top.

Should do a sub now before a 3rd goes in.
Was typing the words "might need more than one" as the change was made
Think there probably is something to the illness comments. One thing being a bit dull and made to look a bit silly by Messi, quite another to not even be running much in a tournament final, not even the players that have been on it all tournament

Dembele is actually worse for me than SMS and Latuaro Martinez in terms of overrated players that don't deserve the reputations they enjoy.
Does anyone actually rate Dembele apart from Deschamps? Reputation seems to be more of a comedy sicknote player whose transfer fee is cited the worst example of Barcelona excess and everyone groans when they get linked with having him on loan...

And that goal should be that, the way France are playing

I know he's scored that but how is Messi so bad at pens. That was a rubbish pen. I don't even think it was one where he's waited for keeper to dive first. Lloris goes left easy save
He's not great at them, he's merely average but it's never a bad pen when you're on target and the keeper goes the other way...

Proper dive, but also so clumsy from Dembele that VAR was never going to save him.

Good decision!
On a different matter, has anyone at all seen a goal from a corner either for or against since the last update? I've played almost two seasons and have not seen a single one. Just looking for reassurance they are still in the game.
Yes, several. My centre backs have 6 goals between them for the season and I've definitely conceded too.

Still amazed that the side that did everything humanly possible to let a struggling side back into the game managed to get their penalties on target, never mind score them...
