  1. This makes me think there is technology/source code limitation and not a talent issue, at least with the existing code. 3d match engine was introduced 12 years ago and graphically it has not improved at all in that time and as others have provided evidence for, it actually regressed. Logically for a core part of the game you would expect there would be vast improvements 12 years on but this not the case. I am hoping the the introduction of women's football to FM will actually be the launch of a brand new game top to bottom and replacing the existing UI and match engines, hence the need for additional art and animation roles.
  2. One thing I remember from The Football Manager podcast which is probably relevant is there is a couple of SI Staff who’s role it is to review changes other staff propose and overrule any ideas that will break the game performance wise.
  3. I’ll take one for the team and do a test on my wife’s 10 year old laptop. Benchmark C and D will probably be way beyond what the laptop will handle though.
  4. I think this is a good step, gives people platform options and SI can develop to the strengths of that platform. The history of gaming though is closely tied to the history of computer performance, games have naturally become more demanding and more detailed as hardware has become more powerful. FM seems to try and fight against this trend, I wonder how much of this though is from having to support a legacy code base and the limitations it brings? Other developers will rewrite their games from scratch every few years when doing sequels, I could be wrong but I don’t think SI have ever started from scratch with FM for any releases?
  5. I think the problem with trying to continue to support players with very old machines means you cannot make the brave decisions for the franchise and entice new players to buy the game. Even in corporate business, continuing to support legacy systems (hardware or software) costs you more in the end due to inefficiencies.
  6. You could say this maybe 20 years ago but we are talking about PC game and times have moved on. Graphics play a big part of gaming and FM should not be any different where it can ignore graphical improvements, from the UI to the match day.
  7. Bugger, would love to see it as an option for replays. I also want to know why Neil made no appearance in this years video 😁
  8. In the reveal video for the match engine they showed some tactical circles and links around players. Is this only for internal testing or will there now be options to enable this to help with match analysis and help visualise the spacing and linkups between positions and players?
  9. Was looking for the same but I am sure they have made changes but as it was a feature added last year it didn’t make sense to include it a feature for this years video? The Data Hub has a great future if they keep refining it each year.
  10. Doesn’t look like the Lenovo BIOS is sophisticated enough to provide XMP Profile loading, hence why you are stuck with default DDR4 RAM speed.
  11. I would disagree, there has been so many add changes to the game over the version iterations that the UI is feeling fragmented and lacking cohesion. The UI and UX needs a revamp and brought to the modern age.
  12. Good work mate. Looking forward to see how the FM23 benchmarks transpire in comparison to FM22.
  13. This is one of the major things I’d like upgraded, I feel the current UI has run its course and is holding the game back in terms of graphical flair, point and click customisation, and navigation. I would love to see true multi window support.
  14. I think this would be an issue between SEGA and the retailer, I wouldn’t think this something SI would have control over?
  15. Earliest I can remember the term being used was back in the Arcade days long before consoles became a thing. Non-gaming wise it came from D&D first and foremost.
  16. I usually end up buying two copies, a boxed edition and key only. There is no longer a box edition for my region ( Australia) that will activate so I buy twice
  17. The UI and UX is a big part of the playing experience though and the graphics and presentation of the UI is very outdated now and needs a complete revamp. I still love the game but feel Excel has more stylisation than FM.
  18. EDL from SI responded to this same question a while ago in this thread. The game would need a rewrite to be able to implement full multi-core processing.
  19. As a long time fan of The Athletic's football analysis, would be great if something similar to the Pizza Chart they use to analyse players is added to FM. It makes looking at players so much easier stats wise and how they contribute in the different phases of the game. Of course FM would also need to be able to calculate and provide the same metrics.
  20. I don’t really follow Fabrizio but why does he always seem to have the inside scoops about transfer?
  21. I would like to see a new view added that visualises the time line of players at the club in Gantt format that shows when a player joins a club/first team and some key stats(appearances / goals / assists etc) Each row represents a player with the left end of the timeline bar indicating when they joined the club. Sections of the bar can be colour differently for any period they were loaned out or in. Hovering over the bar gives some key stats for their period of their club. A filter option would also allow you show or hide past players that have left the club and then the right side of the timeline bar showing when they left the club. I would find the graphical view useful for having a visual snapshot of how long individual players have been at the club and how this fits in with the timeline of other players.
  22. The way player comparisons are handle at the moment and truthfully for a very long time is very basic. A lot of information is missed off and there is no visualisations for player stats. I would like to see the Player Comparison overhauled and made so there are as many visualisations for comparisons as possible. Example from Soccerment The Soccerment player comparison gives a much better visualisation for comparing two players which I think FM could learn from. All the spreadsheet data is hidden, stats are compared graphically and not like two rows of data like in FM now. Give the Player Comparison a Data Hub like treatment, make it customisable so we can add or remove the visualisations so we can see comparisons to our own tastes.
  23. I added a new item to the Recruitment Centre I missed which is Scouting Shortlists (Manager but also recruitment staff player shortlists) Basically all recruitment staff have their own shortlists, not just our own personal shortlists we create as managers. As recruitment staff find players, they auto-build their own shortlists we can view and browse. This way a staff shortlist is not based on what assignment they are on but the staff member themselves and whatever base criteria we set. This way we do not need to be bombarded with messages from the Head Scout about players have been found. Much like the Assignment Reports tallys, the Shortlists would have the Staff Name in the first column, then a tally of players added to the shortlist. This can be broken down further with addition columns for recommendation ratings: A, B , C ,D ,E ,F etc This way at a glance we can see a shortlist has X entries, of which Y are 'A' rated, or Z is 'B' rated etc All the shortlists can be further filtered at a top level, so when set we can see the tally of how many entries each recruitment staff shortlist has that meet this criteria we are looking for and then drill in further.
  24. Only real gamers had Amiga 500s, everything above that were just for the posers
