  1. I believe the latest patch is a turning point for sports interactive and that is for the worse, I cannot remember when the last time that a winter update/patch lacked any match engine changes whatsoever. If this is the lack of care and effort that this company will be putting into the game moving forward , its a slap to the face of a loyal and passionate fanbase. Very disappointed at the lack of improvements in the latest patch , I couldn't care less if they're excuse is that they're focusing on FM 25. It doesn't mean that they're all of a sudden allowed to be lazy just because FM 25 is upcoming. We paid the same money for FM 24 and as previous versions , why should we get less after release support this year compared to last year? Specially after all the promises made by Miles Jacobsen and his team in this year's edition , which to put it bluntly they've failed to fulfill for the most part. They already got away with not being bothered to release a hotfix for Spain/other countries having countless players with Ivan names etc in FM 23. Are they just now pushing how much they can get away with? Will this mean that future winter updates in future Football Manager games be like this? Just a data update with a few minor gameplay improvements and no match engine changes? I'm afraid if Sports Interactive don't get enough negative feed back for this laziness of an update this will become the normal way for them. With the increased sales and multiple platforms it seems ironic that the development team have less resources to fix things. I'm sure they won't even bother reading this feedback and just see it as me hating on them. But this is a real concern from a life long fan of the game.
  2. I understand but those are "bonuses" they shouldn't count for weekly wages as that's a separate thing. For example why would I pay the appearance fee if he hasn't played? Thats the whole point of the contracts with only appearance fees to pay and no weekly wages in the lower leagues. You only pay them when you play them per match.
  3. Started a lower league save with Rushall Olympic , got promoted in the first season , excited to be able to spend a little bit more money to sign players 5,869 per week to be exact ... such a lovely number for the board to use for wages. However, I have noticed that despite having only players with actual contracts totaling their wages to 2995 per week + staff wages this bums up to a total of 3790 per week! But I can't sign any more players since apparently that totals to 5888 per week in game so ive gone over my weekly budget for salary. I have struggled to sign decent players as a result. The rest of my squad are on part time contracts which I thought was one way I could reduce the weekly wage and are only being paid on appearance fee basis. So, I really don't get where the additional salary per week is coming from. I haven't encountered this issue in previous FM's before. Is this a bug ? Or is it not working as it should be ? Should I report it as such ? Any confirmation on why this is occurring would be great ! I released some players that were on appearance fee only contracts and not weekly contracts and the weekly wage budget went down. This seems like a bug I haven't encountered this issue before.
  4. Hi thanks for the reply but I don't think so I just calculated the salary of all the players there theyre all on 5 pounds per week lol. So an additional 85 pounds to what should be 3790 doesnt equal the budget 5888. I released some of the players on appearance fee only contracts and not being paid weekly and the weekly wages per week went down.... so I assume this is a bug or this isn't working as it should be and will post this in the bug tracking forum.

  6. Started a totally new save on the latest update 24.2 currently one and a half season in: So I watch all the games like a lunatic. I don't sim matches , I don't go on holiday both in game and real life lol A few odd things has happened. In my opinion these are a few things that I have noticed which is bad since the update. These are my own opinion and feedback you may have a different experience to mine. I have to admit I was very excited to start a new save, as I really want to start a long term save now after the initial disappointment of this year's release. However, I will say that I have been left disappointed with what Sports Interactive has produced with their latest patch. This year has just really failed to live up to the hype as the most complete version yet and the supposed homage to football has been rendered a homage to features riddled with bugs both old ones and new. There is potential in the game to be the best yet, but I seriously doubt it will fulfill its potential as most of the issues remain unsolved and I doubt they will have much time left to fix these as I assume they will focus entirely on FM25. I wish someone could take the time to make a list and compile all of the old bugs that has been reported over the years so we can track which ones has been fixed and which ones have been in the game for a few versions now. So we can really see how well Sports Interactive "Fix" these bugs and listen to our feedback seriously. With that being said let's begin with the good things! Match Engine And Gameplay Improvements - Improved goalkeeper in saving shots. Less goals in general specially from throw ins Less corner near post goals I used to score 15+ goals with Saliba and Gabriel but that's now down to less than 10 each. More blocks and last-ditch goal saving tackles. More misplaced passes specially between defenders and goalkeepers. More red and yellow cards Marginally better A.I substitutions and rotations More penalties Sadly thats where the good things end in my opinion The Bad ! Match Engine Still no hand balls 1 and a half seasons in 0 instance of handball occurring. Still hardly any through balls , through the defense or over the defense, most of the goals come from the wing. And even in 3 vs 2 situations or 2 vs 1 situation the players tend to run out wide instead of passing it through into space. DIrect Free Kick/direct shot goals still way to low and rare - 3 goals direct free kick goals half way through the season is insanely inaccurate in past seasons for example 2021/2022 - 19 direct free kick goals. Less fluid passing play leading to goals. I don't see as many goals that made me say " Woah " or just admire what the match engine can present. Less curling shots/goals from distance Too few VAR approved goals , 90% VAR replays goal isn't given always offside. More penalties missed I believe this is a little bit too high. I had both Jorginho and Saka miss 4 consecutive times. AMC and AF Roles nerfed too much I had to play around player instructions for AMC to function like it used to pre patch. Attacking midfielders don't assist or score like they used to pre patch their movement seems off too occupying the same space as an Advanced forward. Odegaard pretty much guaranteed to have 10 goals and 15 assist in a season now, it's more like 5 goals and 10 assists. Advanced forwards have a big issue regarding getting the ball enough from other players during matches, in most matches they only get 1-2 shots. I appreciate that these changes were made to push the overall goal amount down. End of the 1st season Haaland finished as top scorer more worringly only 6 players finished with more than 15 goals and 0 players over 20 goals .... Haaland underperformance/Nerf ? I thought when man city finished 6th in my 1st season that it was only a one-off Guardiola was sacked. But halfway through my second season they still sucked and are even worse than prior currently outside the top 6. What is up with this ? Correlation between the nerf for strikers? I mean half way through the second season Haaland is still only on 8 goals... he's also been rested/unselected for god knows what reason the A.I has in 6 league games so far half way through the season. They shouldn't be resting him if they're not even in the top 4 ! I mean its good and all that he's bad for me but I don't think this is very realistic there has to be something wrong with the strikers in this patch. Gameplay Good More upsets between big teams and small teams Bad Tactics - why are so many teams using IFB and IWB such as Nothingham Forest and Fulham like really now? I mean these playing styles is a fairly new phenomenon and there are hardly any players who can actually perform those roles fully in real life ! Big home advantage bias its not rare to beat a team 5-1 at home and then lose 4-0 at their home. I know it happens in real life but it it happens far too often in game. Contract salary demands are still insanely high both when buying youth and negotiating new contracts - If you try to sign 17-18 year olds they mostly want 10K+ per week at arsenal but if you look at existing youth contracts none are even over 5k+ per week ! Jeez some 17 year olds who just have potential but aren't wonderkids yet want 20-30k right away ? Some players in La liga that are in the starting 11 get that. Just doesn't make any sense. In my other save in the original release teams 3 years on have some insane unsustainable wage budget set up like 6 players on 400-500k per week. When negotiating for extensions why does the players ask for 40-50%+ increase each time ? That kind of increase doesn't even happen that often in real life unless you're a literal superstar. Yet in game regular starters want star money lol its insane and this isn't anything new.? 5 Star coaches are way too rare like how are we meant to develop our youth to their maximum potential ? Or does this not have any bearing on their development ? In previous FM's there was a lot more 5 star coaches. The assistant coach recommends/auto selects is broken, almost like he wants to get you sacked with his selection this was fine previously I don't know what happened with the recent update but if you don't watch who they select at times they select an odd starting 11. Still dumb that players that have transfer offers don't leave even if you offer to pay some of their wages and the teams their going to they will get starting minutes and the team isn't bad. For example Eddi Nkettiah turned down a 50m bid from Brighton and Villareal. I have even tried to force him out by putting him in under 21's , interacting with him telling him to fix his conduct for no reason so that his morale will go down but still he stays lol. He ended up accepting a 35m offer from Benfica for a role on the bench though. Smart A.I indeed. Loans - what is the point of me offering to clubs with specific playing time as regular minutes only for 20+ clubs to return with fringe playing time offers? Like what is the point in this feature really? Why can't it just return 0 clubs if they aren't willing to give the playing time that I want it can't be that hard to code this function/behavior. Like logically speaking. Transfers A.I still dumb - teams tend to buy players with the less ability than what they already have or in a best-case scenario someone of equivalent ability like for example man city sent Julian alvarez on loan only to buy Benjamin Sesko for 99 million and Joao Felix .... like Haaland doesn't exist. Umar Sadiq in Newcastle where they already have two players of similar style in Isak and Callum Wilson. The newly promoted teams don't seem to buy much either or when they do hardly any of the players they sign start for the team ! For example Leeds - only 4 players signed only 1 starts for them the rest aren't good enough. Or they spend 20-30 million or a big chunk of their transfer budget on 29+ year olds. Players still cry when you praise them for good form etc. its STILL EXACTLY THE SAME AS FM23 albeit even a little worse.
  7. Football Manager 2024 feedback using latest patch 24.1.1 on PC playing as Arsenal I am 2 seasons into the game with the latest update. Another year of FM and another year of letdowns. I would like to start off with the good things that has been done and improved. This is the first time that I had not paid for this game in full after the letdown of Football Manager 2023. I am glad I have not paid in full for this game at the current state it is in. Xbox game pass is a god send. The Good 1. Amazing processing speeds compared to previous editions - Even though I have 25+ nations and leagues loaded I must say that I have been very impressed at the improved loading and processing of matches in comparison to previous editions so well done on that end! Saves time and allows me to play more (When the issues do get fixed)! 2. Match Engine Improvements/Animations/Variety/Ball Physics - I do love the improved match engine and it is by far the best in the series in my opinion terms of lighting, animations and variety of goals. I love how the players use their hands to point or call for the ball or the way they tilt their heads in the direction their looking to run to, little things like this makes a big difference in terms of watchability. The improvement on ball physics is also top notch as it brings more of uncertainty to each match as it should, just like in real life a deflection, the ball bouncing unexpectedly and or a poor first touch could cost your team a goal. The improved player positioning has also allowed for our tactics to be better displayed by the match engine (Although not perfect). Thank you for this improvement and I hope these things are implemented as well or even better in next year's edition. The Bad Match Engine 1. Too many goals - it seems like a lot of players have good finishing when their attributes say otherwise. Most matches have been goal fest specially at home games. For example, in 15 matches - there have been 6 games with over 5 goals and only 4 games with under 1 goal scored. In real life in the English premier league there is only 1 team above 15% conversion rate so far in the season, while in my game there are 5 teams with 15% or more conversion rate and the top team has a whopping 20% conversion rate compared to 16.3% in real life. So, I hope further tweaks are made in the upcoming updates regarding this as there has been no mentions of this in the upcoming updates. 2. No hand balls - this is a big part of matches in real life and has caused many controversies as there have been many instances already in the season where penalties have been given due to hand balls and yet in my two seasons so far in FM not a single hand ball penalty has been given. I can't remember when this was taken out but it still not in this year's version. 3. Very little direct free kick goals - just like last year there seems to be a big nerf in terms of direct free kick goals. In real life last season there was 19 direct free kick goals in the English premier league in my last 2 seasons the entire league finished with less than 10 in both seasons. Please adjust this in the upcoming updates too. Make James Ward Prowse great again etc. 4. Corner instructions not being followed - I would say 2 out of 10 times in the past 2 seasons in game my corner taker decides its best to play the ball short instead of the near post as instructed in the set piece creator. What is the point of telling them where to aim if they do not follow the instructions. Not sure if this is a known bug but to me that seems like a bug. I only have one type of set piece corner and the same instruction for both sides. 5. More defender last ditch tackles and variety in goalkeeping dives/saves - not sure if you will be able to add these but what seems to be lacking in the match engine is last ditch tackles by defenders either to make a goal saving block or a failed attempt at blocking the goal would add much more realism to this game as they don't really do that at the moment as most are standing blocks or they just got out in the way of the shot and wasn't actually trying to block it. The goalkeepers need to jump more instead of just hopelessly diving on the ground for the sake of it and most of the time looks like a late dive to attempt to make a save. Punches to the ball would be nice too and some shouting/ angrily pointing at the defenders who mess up. 6. Too many goals from throw ins both for the player and against the player - this needs balancing as a fair number of goals seem to come from throw ins or start there at the very least. I can already tell that 80% of the time it will be a goal if a highlight is a throw in near to goal. The defenders need to be better position and more aggressive at trying to win the ball back. The goals from throw ins are quality though so please do your best to adjust accordingly. Squad and A.I Interaction 1. The A.I still don't rotate or make timely substitutions - Most of the A.I managers seem to have a habit of only making a substitution during the 75th-80th minutes of the games even though their players are extremely tired already and they seem to be making subs based on time rather than player conditions. I admit some managers in real life do stupid subs like Arteta for example but a vast majority of managers do make subs and some quite early on 60th minutes depending on player's performance someone playing poorly, match outcome ( resting players if they are 3-0 up etc) and not just their physical conditions. The A.I also seem to repeatedly use the same 11 most of the time disregarding player conditions again which often leads to teams being fatigued by February/March. I'm afraid that the younger players won't get enough playing time just like in FM23 for them to develop sufficiently I am yet to get to that point in my save and will give further feed back when I am there ! 2. Playing time/squad happiness - still the same and a bit worse than FM 23, can't seem to keep a big squad happy players throwing tantrums when they are only played 90% of the time due to rest/rotation. Which is welcomed by players in real life. I will understand it if you played Saka only 70% of matches and he starts to become pissed off but it boggles me how this playing time issue is still alive in FM 24. You will only be able to handle the players happiness properly if your man to man management and level of discipline is above 15 in your manager attributes. Otherwise prepare for hell when one of your player complains about playing time etc and the low morale spreads like covid19 among the squad, which just doesn't work that way in real life. Very rarely do you get a player unless a superstar cry to the media about game time , most of the time it is kept indoors if there are anyone who complains. Also if there are issues in the squad or a player gets unhappy/untreated fairly there is absolutely no reason for them to be unhappy still going into the new season unless its got something to do with contracts and even then the whole squad shouldn't revolt because of it specially if youre winning as a team when the issue occured. They act worse than people who have broken up with their partners and have been in depression for months. This needs fixing as this has been a long standing issue already and you can't really promote FM 24 as the most polished game yet if you're unable to fix this. Set Piece Creator 1. Why is it so hard to swap players - why isn't there a click and drag function? Why is it so much harder to swap players around ? Do you guys actually play your game ? This seems like something that would have been caught right away. It seems dumb that you can't override the hierachy system so you're able to swap players much more seamlessly. Or maybe im dumb but please enlighten me on how to do it easily? 2. No option to ask goalkeeper to go up for corner but the A.I teams can - why is there not an option for us to do this , the A.I teams seems to be able to do it against us , a few times when an opposite goalkeeper nearly scored an equalizer against me on a corner. Again enlighten me on how to do this if there is such function. Player Ratings 1. IWB/IFB (S) - Low match ratings - my team averages 7+ rating across the board except for zinchenko who's on 6.5-6.7 most games and below when playing this role who I play as an IWB/IFB , in last year's edition it was like this too hence why I never played with those roles. Could someone clarify why this is? I was really looking forward to this year's edition upon promises made by Miles Jacobson but again the ball has been dropped. As out of all the features only the match engine feature and the new set piece creator which somewhat fulfilled some of its promise, and the rest of the features not so much. The A.I is just as bad and worse in some areas , the A.I squad building seems to be the same as last years as well. The game has potential still and I'm hoping the issues will be ironed out as soon as possible with the upcoming updates. I do hope the feedback we do give are heard as I believe most of the posters here do care about the continued success of the game.
  8. With the game remaining the same bugwise , a.i transfer logic , no improvements in youth development over the long run ( no balanced attributes etc ) , I’ll say it Sports Interactive is the same as Creative Assembly. One is football and the other one is the total war series. football manager and total war series have the same improvements on their games in the past 5 years which is not a lot, old bugs still exists and features are still broken or not implemented properly ashame that they’re both under Sega too ! match engine deserves credit though but that’s almost like praising someone polishing **** , it’s still **** , should have upgraded graphically 3 years ago. How is this new fm a homage when existing bugs and features that were promised years ago are still broken? It seems like it’s more of a homage to the lies and broken features miles and his teams have failed to provide the past few seasons that’s for sure.
  9. Im not sure how they're going to implement the board taking over transfers if you go into the red in your budget , where it doesn't get annoying. Ive seen a screenshot in the latest development update wherein they gave 1 week to sell players until they take mattters into their own hands and begin selling off your players to make up for funds. Will they sell your best players? How does the A.I decide which players to sell? I have a feeling this would be a game breaker for those like me looking to start a save in non league football , where money is tight and even if you start in the positive bank balance , by the end of the season more or less you will be f in the red without even using any transfer funds. Having to rely on sponsorships etc to balance the books before the start of the new season. It is a known fact that aside from the top leagues in football a vast majority of clubs in football are operating at a loss or are in the red and not all teams are forced to sell by their board. For example in premier league vs EFL leagues from championship to league 2. They are requesting for 25% of the tv deals from the premier league clubs to be shared evenly with the leagues below them to help with their finances. "Championship clubs’ losses Operating losses reported by Championship clubs decreased by 10% to £361m in 2021/22, an average loss of £15m per club." There has been instances where I've taken a team into the from league 2 to league 1 and we have been in the red maybe by 200-300k by before the start of the next season , I dont believe that warrants the board to sell players forcefully. Clarification would be nice on how this feature would be implemented.
  10. Please fix the long existing bugs from previous FM's and improve vital features to make long term saves enjoyable and viable. Specifically: Player Development for the long term squads please get rid of the long term existing bug where 8-10 years into the future teams both locally and internationally are filled with too many 30-year-olds. A.I Squad Management (Playing time/rotations, Transfers/Loans logic etc) I assume this ties up to the first point. Player interactions (Promises , chat sensitivity issues) I get there are plenty of prima donna's in football but how often do a majority of players complain about playing time to the point that it totally ruins the squad's morale? I can only think of a few that actually reaches the press in real life cristiano ronaldo , joao cancelo and those don't totally ruin their squads morale like it currently has in FM. Contact Negotiations ( Players looking to leave on free unless contracts are renewed 18 months before expiry, existing players not interested in signing for your team after promotion and choosing to sign with a worse team in a worse off league ( unless it's wrexham lol ) , Players during contract negotiations wanting 10k per week from you as well as an important player playing time promise/guarantee and then after agreeing only to sign with another team in the same league or below for less money and be warming their benches. I am hoping for a more polished experience this time around in comparison to FM 24 and I really am hoping for the best for this last iteration of this kind of FM. Please take pride in the game that you make, let this be "love letter to football" by polishing and fixing the broken features thank you.
  11. Thank you anyways! Not a big deal but found it quite odd , I reinstalled the game , I can't see him now having just started a new game. So that fixed it !
  12. Yes I mean thats why im here and I posted those screenshots , this is the right database right?
  13. Yes I did , that was a brand new save with the new data base as I showed on the screen shot which is weird. I checked the recent transfers for all the other teams that happened in January they are all there for arsenal for example like jorginho . So I am sure that I am using the latest database , I don't use mods either so this is weird.
  14. HeHdasddsadasdasdasdsad He seems to be alive and well ??? Is this a bug ?
  15. I am not that’s why I found it so weird , I will take a screenshot for you. I am on a fresh clean install of football manager 2023 when the latest data update came out.
  16. I thought Christian Atsu was being removed from the game since he died? Why is he still on the free agency market ? Or did I miss something ?
  17. If you’re on reddit enough that’s nonsense what you’re saying ,the big issue with player development is still constantly being talked about there and criticised , amongst other persistent bugs from previous editions of FM. The amount of unfixed bugs that continue to exist from previous version has stopped me and others from playing that is a fact that cannot be ignored.
  18. Probably take longer to release the update this year since they have more to balance and fix compared to previous versions. Probably first or second week of March.
  19. Set your graphics settings to auto it fixed the lag and flickering for me , must have been the render scale
  20. Thank you for this kind of response , really I think this type of communication should be applauded. A question though what is the issue with bugs still remaining persistent in game from previous versions ? For example the youth development issue has carried on from FM 22, specifically how the A.I still prefers older 33-37 higher reputable players compared to the upcoming regens who have the ability to replace them but can’t because they lack the reputation gain in game. You mentioned you take pride in your work and critical, but what is being done to rectify this ongoing issue. I believe you play your game yourselves and are not totally oblivious to this issue which is noticeable in long term saves. My main gripe with this years version is that the unfixed bugs that existed in previous versions still remains, add to the fact that the features this year is underwhelming which has highlighted all the negatives even further. I hope that next years edition is much more refined and the bugs being reported are actually fixed and not fallen on deaf ears. Thank you
  21. I understand your point but clearly there’s something wrong if a change breaks the rest of the game engine. Something has to change. Since some of the bugs have now existed in consecutive editions of the games. What you’re practically saying at this point is that the bugs can’t be fixed because it will break the rest of the game , accept it. Which is lazy excuse.
  22. Really appreciate response like this , I get that it’s a balancing act but have you never thought that maybe it’s about time to build a new match engine from the ground up ? So that adjustments could be made easier by your team and so that it doesn’t upset the balance of other parts of the Match engine by making changes? I would imagine its hard to make adjustments now since it’s practically the same 3d match engine from FM 2009 with additional code/features every year added to it , that has made it very difficult for you guys to make the changes needed to improve the game? P.S please fix the overly diva players , id imagine Arsenal would be tough to manage now with all the recent signings bound to have cry babies not starting 10 out of 10 games.
  23. So basically don’t want to do the work to implement this needed change/fix ? Nice reply
  24. Same here , for me it’s mainly to do with the longetivity of the saves , the youth system/development is messed up to the point by 2030 most teams are dominated by aging stars in their mid 30’s which I find unrealistic and most national teams are old asf and has put me off the game for good this year. I just don’t see the point of short term saves tbh and won’t be playing until this gets fixed properly which I personally believe they won’t or can’t its been the same issues since FM 2022
  25. Conspiracy theory ? I am on my 10th season without going on holiday in game. I have posted bugs in the forums and have provided constructive criticism, I am merely airing out my observation , feedback frustration and disbelief that SI can’t seem to fix this issue two Football Manager editions in. It’s people like you that has the “ that’s alright and good enough “ mindset/attitude that has stagnated the game of any progress and improvement
