Uhm.... i loaded a file for italian competitions (serie D etc); the file was working and rules was already verified. Then i did a couple of changes simply adding / removing some players from my team and when i try to test rules again, this message appears:

    editor.thumb.jpg.f78700820ae3771d19f0907e0f448481.jpg

but i did nothing to FIFA Club World Cup.

I have no idea why this is happening.

I'm getting the same issue. I think it may be that the editor hasn't updated to 2.0 while the game has.

  2. In previous games up until FM19, if you took over a club then the background image of the league that particular club played in would become the default manager background.

In FM20 however, the city pic background from the club's profile page becomes the default manager picture (covers squads, player profiles, inbox, home page, leagues in focus, social media lounge, staff page etc). Is there any way I can change this to the league backgrounds again so that it's easier on the eyes? I was able to get some help applying default pictures to the inbox, home page and player profiles, but there are still a lot of screens that have the club's city picture.

  3. For years now we've had the same problem with coefficients when creating a continental competition in the editor. Instead of updating each year, they remain unchanged.

Add to that, the rules page revamp for the domestic leagues that shows what each place in the league will get. We have no option available to give an accurate description of what the top 4 positions in England for example would qualify your team for, i.e. the competition name and the round they would enter at.

We seemingly have no way of making either of these useful when it comes to a created competition. In a file I've created for example, in England/Spain/Italy/Germany the top 4 would qualify for the Champions League, while 5th and 6th would get the Europa League, and 7th get the Intertoto Cup. However the rules page shows none of that, and the league table doesn't show it either whereas you'd normally see it in a default save with the colour coding for the top 6 places.

Can't we have specific sections for these features in the editor so that they can blend in with the game seamlessly? For example a tick box for coefficients, and a tab for qualification places where we can add a new row of information per league place or cup finish?

This row could include information such as

    League or Cup Position
Competition (league or cup it applies to)
    Competition qualified for
    Round Name (qualified for)
    Seeding
Colour Coding (for the league table position)
Other Info (conditions where a team qualifies depending on who wins a cup, a runner-up qualifying if the cup winner has qualified via the league, or should that place go to the next highest league position etc)

I feel like it's always been this way on both of these? Had you been able to get your UEFA revival competitions to use coefficients, to show up in the league rules, and use the default colour-coded qualification places? Because I've never been able to do that with mine (but I don't use the existing UEFA competitions at all), so I just settled for "can't do this, okay, we'll just go without".

That's what I'm thinking. I never really noticed the colour-coded league positions for the top leagues in previous games, I thought it was a new feature. I know the rules page has been revamped this year though.

For what it's worth, when I was altering the english nation rules in a separate file I noticed that the premier league is linked to a file called eng_prem. I'm wondering if I can find where that is located then I could edit the default qualification rules to fit my file and save it as new.

  5. I've created a new nation rules file for England alongside my competition file, which has gotten something to show up in the domestic league rules for qualification places. However, it's only displaying the round name and not the competition name, while the league positions aren't colour-coded either like they are with a default save. It also means I'll have to apply unique nation rules for every other country in Europe.

Does anyone know if there is an easier or less time-consuming way to fix this issue?

  6. Hi

I noticed that when you create a custom continental competition, the qualification places for each domestic league disappear in the league's rules, as do the coefficients (though coefficients has been a problem for years).

Is it actually possible to get both working again in FM20? I'm struggling to find the "combine with rules in code" option for competitions as well so it seems a bit more difficult than in previous years.

thank you for the answer , can you make group stage for the CONCACAF and conmebol Champions league? Like

Something mirroring the UEFA champions league

    Any time, bud.

Do you mean one group stage for the CONCACAF/CONMEBOL Champions League? There's a two group stage version included already, but sure I have plans for that already

So What Plans For New Things In FM20
Like Europa League 2 Explansion Or UEFA Super Cup 4 Teams

I'll be adding the Europa League 2 again but as the UEFA Conference League. Got some ideas for some more stuff but nothing set in stone yet. It's going to depend on whether or not the editor bugs are fixed and if any new features added.

Made some quick tests for Liechtenstein. I fear that something is harcoded. I set Vaduz to Switzerland for Continental Cup, swapped rankings between them and 2 others teams, gave them a lot of money and a good team. So they were league runner up year one, but year two they didn't enter any cup (tried with differents updates from you) as they didn't year one (set them as runner up the year before too). I just realised that they added the Liechtenstein Cup when you launch Swiss league (yeah my first FM since FM10 so I discover a lot of things :D ) so I don't know how much it could be an issue.

So good luck with that !

I think it'll be down to me not listing Liechtenstein in the rankings, or in the seeding section for each competition.

In real life isn't it a case of if they don't finish high enough in the league then they have no teams in Europe at all the following season due to not having a domestic league? I might need to either change the Liechtenstein teams to Switzerland, or create a Liechtenstein league next year to fit them into qualifying somehow.

As I said, screen 2 was taken without any custom db, just regular English Italian French Spanish German Scotish and Welsh Leagues.

So no C1 for 18/19 and nothing after the 2nd QR for C3.

But now with the same config, even with custom England DB, file 21 seems to work fine (simmed through October, didn't look at details, but C1 started, C3 was correctly drawn. So I think I could survive without the file32, don't bother :)

Oh it's maybe late, but someone asked for Vaduz. Didn't make any trial but I think they'll never go to Europe. They are set to Liechtenstein in "Continental Cup Nation" in their details page in the editor, and Liechtenstein has been "excluded" for European Club comps with this update. So maybe set to Switzerland could help. (same goes for Eschen, Balzers and other Liechtenstein clubs).

Don't know if I was clear enough :D

Ah of course, the whole Liechtenstein issue. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I'll try and find a way around that when I'm configuring everything for FM20. As for the issue you were having, I'll take a look at both files tonight just in case there's something there.

Nope, I meant I have the issue using these files, but not in the same save.

I've just read that in FM18 your update clashed with Northern Irland, and you fixed that, but maybe there still is an issue, and I'm quite sure I selected this league each time. I'll make a try without it. (The only other custom DB I use is in England, if that helps).

And btw, congrats for this huge work.

Edit: so , tried with my usual English custom DB (screenshot1) and with regular leagues only (screenshot 2) with the file 32 and still doesn't work. I don't know if the 19.3.6 patch could be the issue, will try to re-check your db in the editor, I'll keep you updated.

    issue2.PNG

    Thanks

Northern Ireland was clashing with the files in FM18 but it works OK with FM19. I also had to reconfigure the starting dates for each competition due to a clash with playoffs in The Netherlands.

Have you tried running it without the custom England DB? There might be something in there causing a scheduling problem. If the problem is still happening without that file then I'll look into it later tonight for you.

    Hi @Carlito85 I have the same issue than @igorlv , using file 21 & 32.

UCL starts the season after and C3 stops after 2nd qualifying round. C2 and Intertoto seem ok. Appears with and without other custom DB.
I read that he fixed that by removing Irish union, but I don't know what that means in the DB. Something relative to Brexit ?

    Thanks

    Hi @hessemte

I think he was referring to a custom file, which would have caused some kind of clash with mine.

Are you using files 21 and 32 in the same save? If so that will likely be the cause of your problem.

So...one last hurrah from me to see if I can get what I want fm19 to do. If I implement this into file 24, will this give me the winners of the previous year defending their crown , and thus allowing 2 teams from one country in to the competition the next season?

It's always worth a test in-game. I haven't tried using the block teams option so I'm not overly familiar with it. I know a few in this thread have tried it though and managed to achieve what they were aiming to do.

The problem I was having was that while I was able to get the winning teams into the competition for the next season, the Champions League would often have 6 teams from one nation.

Can Vaduz qualifies for the European competitions in your db??

I'd imagine if they finish near the top of the Swiss Super League they should qualify for European competitions.

I find this dialogue system very arcade. All RL business conversations are long processes with few stages, search for alternatives, attempts to find a compromise, etc. But in FM you need to choose 'correct' answer and its mean a promise or fail. In second way (fail) player doesn't want to discuss any thing, you can't even to comment his training LOL :D Even if player has 'professional' character he behaves like an infantile child if he didn’t get what he wanted.

So IMO conversation system and also press confes and relations between manager/players,manager/managers and players/players need to improve (or fully new system) ASAP

I totally agree with that, which is why the conversation system should be revamped along with the social media aspect if they want it to work properly.

My point was simply that on paper the social media aspect belongs in the game in this day and age. Fan/pundit/journo pressure is a big part of modern football, as is professionals within the game interacting on there. Clubs even go at it with each other on there now from time to time. Speaking of which, hiring social media staff could also be a welcome addition.

I don't really care about what some insta boy dreams of 😊 I play FM every version since CM 03/04 and through all these years I know what is the most important in this game, for me of course.

FM is managing simulator, that means the most important part should be to buy players, to train players, and watch on the line if they fulfill your tactics orders.

Meanwhile I got a feeling there are FM fans that care about whole staff but not the ME.

Just imagine Jurgen Klopp, who says he prefer to follow Instagram during a match, he gave tactics orders and let it happen itself on a pitch it's not that important as what supporters put on insta 😆

    (Sorry for my english)

The manager's job could be to handle situations relating to players interacting on social media though. The manager has to pull a player into their office and deal with an issue via the game's conversation system. It's another ingredient that could build or destroy relationships within the game, and increase/lower pressure on the manager depending on their handling of the situation and their man-management.

Of course it's common sense to also want a better match engine/graphics and improved tactical options etc but it's also fair to say that the majority of the game is probably spent outside of the match engine. Why not improve that side of it every year as well?

  16. Personally I like the idea of social media possibly playing a bigger part in the game. I'm hoping they also introduce pundits and their influence in modern football - something I suggested on the feature request forum a while back. For example they can create or destroy narratives about you, your squad, the club as a whole, a club's fan base, or what's going on at board level. They could start the ball rolling when it comes to pressure, or try and help ease the pressure on you depending on your relationship with them.

Why not bring TV and radio interviews with pundits you like (or don't like) into the equation? It could make things more interesting in my opinion.

Other than that, a lot of what I'd like to see is more editor-based - i.e. the stadium, sponsors for default kits (maybe clubs could even have randomly-generated kits every season), or more flexibility for continental rules in the pre-game editor.
