anitamui
Is it for every year?
themodelcitizen
Yep, it sounds like it will go ahead in the same years as the summer CWC, which makes sense as teams would miss out otherwise. It's only 1 midweek game for the European teams now anyway
Mrt90
Despite the similar name, this is actually a new competition, not the return of the old one. Past winners list should be empty.
themodelcitizen
You're right, they haven't discussed it as a revival or anything. I kind of like the shared history for now, will consider that further. Until then, changing it to a new tournament is an easy fix for you

I almost wonder if this should have the history of the Club World Cup up to now, given that it's essentially the same tournament with a rebrand, while the new Club World Cup should start from scratch given its vastly increased scope. That would be my view as well.

themodelcitizen
Fixed an issue where if the same team (typically Mexican) won both the North and South American championship (using my fantasy file) in the same year, then the inter-American stage here would have trouble drawing in some years. Now the Libertadores runner-up would get called up to represent CONMEBOL instead (even if it means a quick rematch of the Libertadores final). Mind you, if you've been keeping an eye on the football headlines you'll know the likelihood of this tournament is not too popular... Quote The unions [FIFPRO] and leagues [World Leagues Association] also want FIFA to “review its decision” — effectively scrap — the Intercontinental Cup set for this December involving the same continental champions that will play in the Club World Cup six months later.
