[FM23] Try IL - Youth Only in Norway - From the depths of the 11th tier!

After a long break from FM23 (about 30 minutes), I am back with another save!

The suspension rules in the leagues of Luxembourg really put me of the continuation of that save.

 

Therefore it's back to familiar territory for me, as we're heading to Norway. In FM22 I managed to win the Champions League with Kautokeino (HERE), and that will be the aim here as well. Kautokeino started out in tier 5? 6? Either way, around that level, this time I've gone with Try IL, and we start in the 11th tier of Norwegian football!

I'll TRY (that pun won't be used all the time, I promise) to update every month this time around.

And another thing, one thing I usually do is that I can buy back players that has left us for another team. I will do that this time as well, just to make it slightly easier for myself.

 

This is how the league finished in real life. I am hopefull we can do better!

As I am on the run from Luxembourg, I have changed nationality.

 

We start of with a decent stadium. But we share it with 33 (!) other teams.

Sorry about the groundsharing, but it is like it in real life. That said, in real life there are about 10 pitches around each other. If anyone has ever played at the kid tournament Norway Cup, you've been there!

Oh, I know how it is in real life! I've had my fair share of running around trying to find the pitch where the match is supposed to happen.

Pre Season 2022

Not a lot to say here really. The Try Second XI was my first game in charge, so we have improved at least.

 

And we lost the best striker at the club to Holtankameratene Fotballklubb in the eight tier!

August/September 2022

Not really packed with games.

It's awesome that Frelsesarmeen Oslo, has their own team. That is the norwegian version of The Salvation Army! Too bad we lost the game against them, not only is it the first defeat of the save, but it sees them close the gap up to us. We're still ahead, but only on goal difference.

The HoYD I got at the start of the save will leave us any moment now. I really hoped we could keep a hold of him to the first youth intake at least, but alas. He is way, way, WAY too good for us anyway, so it was just a matter of time before anyone "stole" him.

 

He would have been a upgrade to most of the teams in Norway. The only reason he signed for us is that we're an amateur team, and the contracts for staff is a bit bugged. It has been for several FMs

Youth Intake Preview

5/5* for first youth intake, could not have been better!

After two wins October we secured the promotion. Only 10 more to go before we're in the Eliteserien

The first five or so years are usually pretty straight forward in the lower leagues.

Incredible first youth intake! Henrik Ørebek (YP01a) will be poached in the near future, of that I am sure! The other one looks good, be he is on another level.

A decent start to life in the 10th tier. Nordstrand 3 is still unbeaten, and we face them next.

June/July/August/September 2023

Four games in four months! I am really looking forward to climbing up the leagues, so we will have more games than this. We need to beat Nordstrand 3 in the second game we face them however, or we won't go up at all!

Another perfect youth intake preview!

This was a lot closer than I would have though before we started the season. Nordstrand 3 gave us a fight all the way to the end of the year. And we were even lucky to beat them in the final game of the season. But, in the end the only thing that matters is the table, and we are 1st there when it mattered the most! Two out of two promotions so far!

More players going straight in to the starting XI.

A lot of bad personalities, but I hope that will change in coming seasons, as I just got a HoYD with the "Driven" personality!

Pre Season 2024

Good pre season!

 

I'll call it right now, Nesodden 2 will be trouble!

The best thing about this season however, is that we're in a group with 10 teams! At least two games every month

The month started so well, and we defeated the team that I feared the most. I might have been wrong though, there are more teams we will struggle with!

A perfect month! Only two points ahead of Sagene 2, so we have to keep this up.

My prediction that Nesodden 2 would be trouble seems to have failed miserably

Three points behind the league leaders now. We have two games in hand though.

Two more wins on the board. We can't keep a clean sheet, but at least we're scoring a lot of goals!

I am happy with the one point against Sagene 2, as we have one game in hand on them.

I really hope Marius Bekkemoen (YP02d) stays injury free, he is so important to us!

This month did not start at all how I wanted. I blame suspensions, as three out of four defenders was out

However, it is all still in our hands! Oldenborg 2 and Bislett are are the teams we have left of this season.

The two intakes so far has been great, and this should be another good one!

The only position that is not rated A is the wing-backs, and that is the only position without any players.

That is another promotion secured! We did not even have to win the last game of the season, as Sagene 2 lost their final game against Bislett.

It's too early to turn semi-pro in my opinion. The only thing that will happen is that our money will be gone even quicker!

Less than perfect in my opinion. The best player is a GK, and that is of course one of our strongest positions at the moment.

A very busy start to the season sees us top at the end of April!

We've played more games than anyone close to the top, and the two teams sitting 2nd and 3rd is unbeaten.

A perfect month sees us top at the end of May.

Oppegård can still catch us though, so we have to keep this up!

As I feared Oppegård passed us in the table. Even worse, Lille Tøyen managed to hold out for a draw in a game we should have won.

That is probably the end to our promotion hope for this season. Oppegård is still unbeaten, and we're four points behind

We draw a game, and now we're three points behind. We have a better goal difference though, so one defeat for them could save our promotion!

Youth Intake Preview

Should be another great youth intake!

Incredible scenes as Oppegård loses both of their games in October, we win the league and get promoted! That is four in a row!

I have to be honest, we were lucky with this season, and next year will be very tough.

On another note, Frisk Asker has one of the quickest players in my save. Quarcoo, (Wiki page) has 19 pace and 19 acceleration. He is in good company wth Kylian Mbappé, Alphonso Davies and Daniel James! He used to be 20, 20. But he has retired from running at the top level in real life.

I like this youth intake a lot better than the one we had last year. Only three players with the really bad personalities. The top rated player should be great for us!

Pre Season 2026

In the first half of the friendlies we were horrible. At least we won a few games closer to the start of the season.

I've spent most of the pre season giving new contracts to my players. Every single time a new club comes in for one them, I have to do it. As of now, no players has left us.

 

Basically the same odds we've had every season

 A couple of seasons ago we faced Grüners second team, and we lost one of the games against them that season. Let's see how we do against their best team!
