Season Details League Table - Whilst we were always in the top two, we nearly blew it as our lead over third placed Nottingham Forest was whittled down from twelve points to going up on goal difference. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - As usual, consistency was the key. F. A. Cup - We were very poor in losing at home to Premier League side Crystal Palace as we crashed out at the first hurdle, the third round. Carabao Cup - European giants Chelsea were once again too strong for us as we went at the third round stage after a home defeat. Friendlies - A solitary defeat at home by Nottingham Forest spoilt what would of been a perfect pre season campaign. Squad - We have a good squad though we do need to improve in several areas in order to survive I feel. Squad Dynamics - This is rather good as you would expect. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I spent over £30m as the quality of our players improved significantly. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - Over £40m was raised in player sales as I raised funds in order to go on the spending spree detailed above. Youth Candidates - The wait for an elite talent continues. I am told Australian striker Alex Papadimitriou YP29D26 is the pick of the bunch. Finances - We did lose a significant sum this year though the Premier League riches are about to start rolling in. Key Players Moro Mercier - The French left winger enjoyed another good campaign, when he wasn't injured. Ahmed Fathy - The right winger is a full international for Egypt as well as being the club record signing at the time of his arrival for £9,250,000 though this has subsequently been passed. Josh Jno-Lewis - We had some fabuilous loanees this season and this striker, on loan from Manchester United, was our best, scoring 39 goals in 48 appearances. Jordie Haygarth - Another loanee from Manchester, though the central midfielder plays for City. Arriving in the January transfer window, he quickly established himself as a key player for us. Victor Alves - Another temporary arrival from Manchester City, the Portuguese Under 21 international central midfielder was exceptional. Next Season Survival. Anthing else is a bonus. The best part of the season were the cups, where we had two exceptional cup runs. Season Details League Table - We were never in relegation trouble due to starting the season so well. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We obviously lost plenty of games, though our home form, especially against the bigger clubs, was exceptional. We ended the season in appalling form, losing our last nine league games. F. A. Cup - It was our best F. A. Cup run to date as we made it all the way to the quarter final before losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Carabao Cup - We made it all the way to the semi final before Liverpool proved to be far too strong over both legs. Friendlies - With only two draws and the rest victories, it was an excellent pre season campaign. Squad - We have definitely got better and with small improvements each season, we can continue to climb the league table. Squad Dynamics - This is still rather good though it can be a challenge during the season when results become rough. Losing nine on the spin at the end hit this particularly hard. Transfers In 1 & 2 - Around £50m was spent on new players as some real Premier League quality arrived at the club. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - Just under £20m was raised in player sales as moving players on has proved to be a challenge. Youth Candidates - The wait for an elite talent goes on. Striker Tom Weaver YP30C33 is the brightest prospect this year, I am told. Finances - As you would expect, we made a lot of money, despite spending significant sums on money on improving our facilities. Key Players Ahmed Fathy - The Egyptian international right winger was our best player this season. Sergio Díaz - A surprise hit. Signed for just £550,000, the Peruvian international striker was acquired as a back up and for squad depth though he hit some terrific patches of form. José Boyer - The Belgian wonderkid, who plays in central midfield, cost £12,500,000 and has quickly repaid that fee. Connor Davies - He is young, he is English and he scores goals. What is not to like? Noni Madueke - The former England Under 21 internnational, who can play anywhere in midfield or on either wing, arrived on transfer deadline day in the winter and cost just £2.6m. An absolute bargain. Next Season Another safe mid table season would be great, whilst I continue to strengthen the squad. We were tremendous in the league as we qualified for the Champions League and not even our poor performance in the cups can take the gloss off of our season. Season Details League Table - Well this was unexpected. By finishing third we qualifed for the Champions League next season. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - After a tough start, we started winning regularly and soon climbed the table. F. A. Cup - Manchester United proved to be too strong in the fourth round as they beat us on our own ground. Well, Liverpool's as our home games were at Anfield this season. Carabao Cup - We crashed out at the first hurdle, the second round, as fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace beat us at home. Friendlies - It was a perfect ten out of ten victories in our pre season campaign. Squad - Our players are developing nicely and therefore the squad is getting even better. Squad Dynamics - This is as good as you would expect. Transfers In 1 & 2 - We spent close to £130m on some terrific players. Transfers Out 1, 2, 3 & 4 - Over £170m was raised in player sales as money was raised to bring in some higher quality additions. Youth Candidates - We finally got an elite player as Northern Irish central midfielder Henry Gallagher YP31A42 looks fantastic. The rest of the intake was nothing great. Finances - We made a very healthy profit this year and I expect this to only get better once the Champions League monies start rolling in. Key Players Connor Davies - The year the striker came of age. A return of 31 goals in 38 appearances was phenomenal and he is also now a full England international. John O'Akuwanu - The American international striker or right winger, who is the club record signing at £31.5m, had an incredible first season at the club. Brooklyn Addy - Another full international for England, the centre half was our best defender by some distance. Tomás Corbalán - Whilst he has ability in a variety of positions, he was usually deployed on the left wing. Signed on loan from Chelsea for the season, the Argentinian international will be joining permanently in the summer. Borislav Vidović - Our goalkeeper, who is the number one for his national team, Serbia, was excellent this year. Next Season Qualifying for Europe again is the minimum expectation though I just want to enjoy the Champions League. DazRTaylor Posted September 23, 2023 Author Share Posted September 23, 2023 (edited) End of Season Review Season 2031/32 Marine Season Summary An exceptional run in the Champions league, together with another solid league campaign, as well as our first major domestic cup final, represents a fantastic season. Season Details UEFA Champions League - We finished seventh in the league phase and then went all the way to the semi final, before losing both home and away to Barcelona. League Table - Once we hit the top four, we never looked back. We were not good enough to challenge for the league title, however. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We again started slowly though soon settled into a routine of victories and we climbed the table. F. A. Cup - We crashed out away to fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa, going down on penalties at Villa Park at the fifth round stage. Carabao Cup - We made it all the way to the final, but played poorly in losing to Leicester City. Friendlies - We won all of our games except one, which we drew. Squad - We have so much quality, I fully expect to challenge for the league title soon. Squad Dynamics - This is still pretty good. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I spent close to £200m as the quality of the squad significantly improved. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - Player sales still brought in over £140m, though half of this was down to our best defender being sold as he was refusing to sign a new deal. Youth Candidates - Central defender Chris King YP32F56 is regarded as the best prospect out of a pretty poor intake. Finances - We made a small profit and our bank balance remains healthy. Key Players Connor Davies - It was another fabulous season from the striker, scoring 36 goals in 46 appearances. Tomás Corbalán - The Argentinian international winger continues to be one of our best players. Vitor Roque - A surprise hit, who was excellent after arriving on a free transfer. Adrián Cataudella - Another Argentine international, the central midfielder had his best season to date. Xavi Simons - Another free transfer acquisition, the Dutch international midfielder played above his level this year. Next Season I feel we can now challenge for the league title.
