African Cup of Nations 2025:

January 12th:

South Africa v Senegal (BenArsenal)

Senegal dominated their first game of the tournament and grabbed a two nil win thanks to a brace from Y.Badji. South Africa offered very little when when I.Sarr was sent off just after the half hour for Senegal. An impressive start for Ben's side

South Africa 0-2 Senegal

Nigeria (Gavrenwick) v Zambia

Nigeria made light work of the Zambian side as they grabbed a two nil win. S.Chukwueze grabbed the first goal just before the half time interval and the second goal was scored midway through the second half as F.Onyeka headed in to give Gavrenwick a perfect start

Nigeria 2-0 Zambia

January 14th:

Tunisia (Affo) v Uganda

A poor start for Tunisia saw Uganda giving the lead with U.Ikpeazu giving them the lead. Soon after though T.Khenissi equalised for Affo's side. Tunisia carried on the forward pressure and deep into the second half they grabbed the winner as W.Khazri curled the ball in to give Affo a three point start

Tunisia 2-1 Uganda

Angola (EvilDave) v Algeria

A terrible start for Angola with A.Aggar heading in for Algeria. Soon after Algeria grabbed another goal with A.Aggar getting his second of the game. Algeria were then reduced to ten men just before the break with A.Delort picking up a second yellow card followed by the red. The second half was again all Algeria despite being down to ten men and on the stroke of full time they grabbed a third with H.Belkebla heading in to complete the rout.

Angola 0-3 Algeria

Mali (Sherm) v Congo

Mali struggled to get going in this game and it was Congo who took the early lead with M.Tchibota heading in. It took till very late in the game for Mali to pull the scores level as D.Samassekou fired in from close range. Not a great start for Mali

Mali 1-1 Congo

January 16th:

Cameroon v Senegal (BenArsenal)

An entertaining game for the fans which saw Cameroon take a two goal lead within ten minutes as F.Evina and J.Hsame scored. However Ben's side piled on the pressure and Y.Badji pulled the scores level with two fine strikes just after the break. Unfortunately for Ben's side they conceded a silly goal late on with D.Loader firing in

Cameroon 3-2 Senegal

Libya v Angola (EvilDave)

Angola dominated the game and on the 3rd minute J.Bela grabbed the lead, this was quickly followed by F.Abreu heading home. Angola were all over Libya and they grabbed another two goals just after the hour with Zito and Yano both scoring. The final goal of the game was scored late on by A.Benali for Libya

Libya 1-4 Angola

January 17th:

Nigeria (Gavrenwick) v Central African Rep.

Gavrenwick's side dominated the game and made light work of the opposition. In the end a 3-0 win wasn't a true reading of the game. V.Osimhen grabbed one goal and the other two came from S.Chukwueze who fired in each side of the half

Nigeria 3-0 Central African Rep.

January 18th:

Tunisia (Affo) v Morocco

An end to end game which saw Affo's side coming on the wrong end of a 2-1 loss. T.Khenissi grabbed Affo's sides only goal and Morocco's goals came from N.Mazraoui and S.Amrabat. Not what Affo wanted

Tunisia 1-2 Morocco

January 19th:

Mali (Sherm) v Benin

Another end to end game with both sides going for it. Mali's two goals both came from K.Coulibaly with one from the spot. The Benin goals came from S.D'Almeida and S.Mounie

Mali 2-2 Benin

January 20th:

Senegal (BenArsenal) v The Gambia

Gambia controlled the start of the game and opened the scoring early on with M.Barrow scoring. However this came to an end when B.Jatta was sent off for a professional foul. After that Ben's side dominated with M.Niang, Y.Badji and K.Balde all scoring to give his side a comfortable 3-1 win

Senegal 3-1 The Gambia

January 21st:

Ghana v Nigeria (Gavrenwick)

Not the greatest of football matches for the fans to watch with little action in the first half. The second half wasn't much better however two goals were scored as B.Mensah headed in for Ghana and this was quickly followed by the equaliser for Nigeria from J.Aribo.

Ghana 1-1 Nigeria

January 22nd:

Togo v Tunisia (Affo)

A great start for Affo's side as they took the lead with T.Khenissi heading in from close range. However after that it went a bit pear shape as they were reduced to ten men after A.Ben Slimane was sent off for a second yellow card. Togo were the better side afterwards and managed to equalise late in the game with S.Asamoah doing the honours. Not a happy Affo at the end of the match

Togo 1-1 Tunisia

January 23rd:

Ivory Coast v Angola (EvilDave)

An entertaining game for the fans with both sides sharing five goals. It was Ivory Coast who started the better with A.Diallo grabbing a brace. After that though Angola piled on the pressure and G.Dala grabbed a goal just before the break. The second half was all Angoal with Rochinha and Show both scoring to give EvilDave the win

Ivory Coast 2-3 Angola

Egypt v Mali (Sherm)

It was easy for Sherm's side as they piled on the pressure from the start with K.Coulibaly and A.Haidara giving them a two goal lead in the first half. The second half was much the same even with them being down to ten men for the majority of the half after Y.Kone was sent off for a reckless challenge

Egypt 0-3 Mali

African Cup of Nations 2nd Rd

Senegal (BenArsenal) v DR Congo

An easy match for Bens side as they dominated with attack after attack however they only managed to get a couple of couples with A.Onana and H.Diallo both scoring. DR Congo though managed to pull a goal back very late in the game with Y.Wissa heading in, but in truth Ben's side should have put a cricket score past them

Senegal 2-1 DR Congo

January 27th:

Angola (EvilDave) v Mali (Sherm)

Angola started the better and grabbed the lead with F.Abreu doing the honours from outside the area. Mali though piled on the pressure and managed to score three either side of the half. S.Koita, M.Marega and K.Coulibaly grabbed the goals to send Sherm through to the next round and send EvilDave out of the cup

Angola 1-3 Mali

January 28th:

Algeria v Tunisia (Affo)

Affo's side never got started with Algeria controlling the play from the get go. The first half saw Algeria go into a three goal lead with A.Aggar, Y.Benzia and M.Fares all scoring. The second half was pretty much the same but it was Affo's side who grabbed the only goal of the half with E.Skhiri heading but that was about joy Affo's side got

Algeria 3-1 Tunisia

Nigeria (Gavrenwick) v Benin

Gavrenwick's side were by far the better side and dominated a poor Benin side. The only surprise was that Nigeria only grabbed the two goals with Y.Osimhen and K.Iheanacho both scoring to send Gavrenwick's side through to the next round

Nigeria 2-0 Benin

A cracking game for the fans to watch with Senegal taking an early lead with K.Diatta heading in. This was soon followed by K.Koulibaly grabbing an own goal to make it 1-1. Morocco then grabbed another goal with H.Ziyech firing in low from close range. The second half was much as the first with some excellent attacking play and Y.Badji pulled Senegal level. Soon after it was 3-2 with I.Sarr hitting home from penalty spot after a foul in the area. Senegal were then reduced to ten men just before the full time whistle with I.Mbaye earning a second yellow card

Senegal 3-2 Morocco

January 30th:

Ghana v Mali (Sherm)

Mali controlled the game with relative ease and S.Koita grabbed the lead and this was followed by a brace from K.Coulibaly after some woeful defending. Mali by rights should have scored a lot more but late in the game J.Ayew pulled a goal back for Ghana but it was too little too late

Ghana 1-3 Mali

February 1st:

Ivory Coast v Nigeria (Gavrenwick)

A dire game for the fans that turned up with very little in the way of action and in the whole ninety minutes their was only a handful of efforts. The game went into extra time and it was Nigeria who grabbed the winner with S.Chukwueze firing in the

February 4th:

Senegal (BenArsenal) v Mali (Sherm)

An entertaining game with some brilliant play but it was Sherm's side who took the early lead with a fine strike from S.Koita. Both sides carried on the forward fun and Senegal levelled the game early in the second half with I.Sarr doing the honours with a curling effort. The game looked to be heading into extra time but M.Marega won it for Sherm's side with a thunderous effort which gave the Senegal keeper no chance to save

Senegal 1-2 Mali

February 5th:

Guinea v Nigeria (Gavrenwick)

Nigeria started the better and took an early lead with V.Osimhen firing in from the penalty spot after a handball. After that Guinea dominated the game with I.Cisse heading in from close range. Soon after F.Kamano slotted in from just outside area with the Nigerian keeper wanting. Guinea grabbed one more goal late in the second half with J.Keita curling in from twenty five yards to send out Gavrenwick's side

Senegal (BenArsenal) v Nigeria (Gavrenwick)

Ben's side were the better side from the get go and controlled all of the play. However it took till just before the break for the first goal with I.Sarr firing in from six yards. The second half was much the same with Gavrenwick's side offering little in the way of forward pressure. It took till twelve minutes from time for I.Sarr to double his and Senegal's tally to give Ben's side 3rd place

January 14th:

Cape Verde v Nigeria (Gavrenwick)

An entertaining game for the fans if not the managers. It was Cape Verde who started the better and quickly took a two goal lead with a brace from J.Cabral. Mali (Sherm) v Guinea

Mali dominated form the get go and managed to score three goals in the first half with a goal a piece from D.Samassekou, C.Sidibe and S.Koita. Guinea scored a very late goal via N.Keita.

Mali 3-1 Burkina Faso

January 25th:

Nigeria (Gavrenwick) v Egypt

It was a tight affair to start with with not much action till the last ten minutes as Egypt grabbed the lead thanks to A.Sobhy but this was cancelled out by V.Osimhen. The game went to extra time but just before the half time break Egypt were reduced to ten men as K.Hafez was sent off, from the resulting free-kick S.Chukwueze gave Nigeria the lead. Their was one final goal in the game as on the stroke of full time O.Azubuike grabbed Nigeria's third.

The second half was just as good with M.Ben Nasr giving Tunisia the lead but yet again the scores were drawn level thanks to E.Simoes. The game went to extra time and this produced nothing so it went to penalties which saw Tunisia winning 5-4 much to the delight of Affo

However this lack of finishing came back to haunt them as on the 88th minute C.Sidibe fired in from the penalty spot to send the game into extra time. Extra time was a none event and the game was to be decided via penalties. Unfortunately this time Tunisia were on the receiving end of the loss as they went down 4-2 and Sherm's side progressed to the Semi Finals

Mali 1-1 Tunisia

January 30th:

A close fought final with both sides giving it all. It was Morocco who grabbed the lead on the 93rd minute with A.Hakimi doing the honours.
