Unhappy Players - Newbie Question

OK, so I have an unhappy player. He's 35, on the decline, and no one wants him. There's about 3 months left on his contract. What should I do?

1. Just let him play out the contract and be miserable.
2. Mutual termination
3. Release on a free

I don't know enough about the game yet to understand what the ramifications are for these choices. Advice appreciated!

The bottom two will have a financial aspect for you to pay the player. If you suggest a mutual termination, he'll give you a value to leave. Work out what his wages will be for the remainder of his contract. If he wants £100k for his contract, but you'd pay him £200k in wages over those 3 months, terminate. If it's the other way round just let him run down his contract and leave on a free.

For the sake of three months, I'd just keep hold of him.

If a player's contract is in its final few months, they almost certainly won't accept a mutual termination. They would want to be paid in full.

Thanks very much all! I’ll probably just let it run down. We’re in April now and his contract ends in June.
