September was very nearly perfect in the league, and we did at least give Everton a game in the cup

2140504470_Sep2025.thumb.PNG.8419ef895a6bd63703a78b825d2e3063.PNG

and the Sheffield United game felt like robbery

414411382_MillvSU2025.thumb.PNG.7da0730fbd6ffddf7fefeda0f9c29c27.PNG

especially when you see how they scored, and that it isn't the first goal I've conceded this season from a defender literally falling over the ball

but that said, I'm happy with where we are in the league table

Two games for Northern Ireland in October. A spirited friendly defeat away to Italy, which preceded a really disappointing qualifiers defeat in Finland

950708237_NIOct2025.thumb.PNG.508f2172a14d9b44eab8e635500c0881.PNG

although the stats would indicate we deserved at least something from the game

1262737629_FinvNI2025.thumb.PNG.625d35af22cfeacc39b494fcef72eeba.PNG

and that defeat leaves us out of the qualification picture, with games against Spain and Lithuania to come

With qualification no longer possible, and my intention to leave at the end of the World Cup anyway, I've decided to bring forward my resignation, and concentrate on trying to get Millwall promoted

A really disappointing October (forgot to do the update until after the game on 1st November)

1735842095_Oct2025.thumb.PNG.9ca6f22765eec8d32417cd194a7db374.PNG

but we remain in a playoff place, just. We need a change of fortune, and soon, although it's Reading at home next, so it's not going to get any easier

November wasn't great, but we'll have to wait and see whether finishing the month with two straight wins is a turning point or not

1677521090_Nov2025.thumb.PNG.955c9fb7d9dd8f7b9e0c459bb2f229ea.PNG

but it was enough to lift us back into a playoff spot that still represents a significant upgrade on the board's requested top-half finish

There were 2 arrivals and 1 departure in January

1402823107_TransfersJan2026.thumb.PNG.958eb427387fbefd71ee3cf92f054a73.PNG

Bykovskiy was signed as an emergency loan because my regular keeper Christian Walton  picked up a serious injury in training on 31st December, and won't be fit until mid February at the earliest.

Bykovskiy.thumb.PNG.5857eaa3df7f17ffdc9529f6463ea902.PNG

and Dylan Beale has been brought in purely as cover, as we only had one left back. I will put him on the bench, and give him game time in the last 15 minutes of games that are already won or lost, just to help Bolingbroke stay a bit fresher

We had a little wobble in March

1535211589_Mar2026.thumb.PNG.035b832dbac4c335a16932f4cf2d0026.PNG

and although we lead the chasing pack by 8 points, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are 9 points behind but with a game in hand. We will be champions if we win four of our last 6 games

An unbeaten, but slightly underwhelming April

1881627367_Apr2026.thumb.PNG.5212ed2317185b7b8b92b78d62767762.PNG

But that was enough to clinch the title, with promotion sealed in the victory against Sunderland

227616623_Champions2026.thumb.PNG.c1ac3e42ec6412817c1247a1251fd66c.PNG

as we end the month 4 points clear at the top, and only 1 game left. Nottingham Forest join us in the Premier League

352660406_TransfersJul2026.thumb.PNG.9ff7595c0b2e7e4b02e3e8ced218d8e6.PNG

Bykovskiy and Rousset both join permanently, having been here on loan last season, while midfielder Aaron Ramsey (not that one) joins from Arsenal

Ramsey.thumb.PNG.3eacaf0235d22dd284675695184f9249.PNG

Zoran Tomas was signed as a direct replacement for the retired Duffy

Tomas.thumb.PNG.8939344beade7a5660517c7566bb6481.PNG

Gonzalez is a right winger

Gonzalez.thumb.PNG.88fc3d508db004a8b5e2c5e179cf169c.PNG

as is loan signing Manga

Manga.thumb.PNG.cc64310830d27807184d74411d79b2f2.PNG

and that leaves our squad looking like this, with our opening Premier League match a week away

Two more signings were made before the transfer window closed, but there were no more departures, despite my efforts to sell a couple of players who won't play this season

An unbeaten October, which included a victory away at top of the table Tottenham, who suffered a red card, and an equally impressive 1-1 draw at Chelsea, who didn't. It could have been even better

653710712_Oct2026.thumb.PNG.0a29af2c0037746ab32b5aaeefef0ddd.PNG

as we led Nottingham Forest with 11 minutes left, and dominated the game

1508288766_NFvMill2026.thumb.PNG.5d5dd5f0c7cf49f557d6e370c7e4cb7c.PNG

but I'm pleased with a return of 15 points from 11 games. Hopefully we continue accumulating points steadily, staying clear of trouble, rather than relying on 'hot streaks' which, in my experience, can dry up and get you in trouble quickly.

This is the squad I've got to work with. Definite signs of quality, but a serious amount of dead wood to chop out and replace too

452327924_Everton1.thumb.PNG.ff0dc752a159e9847a61a0e1a6b772ab.PNG1158294495_Everton2.thumb.PNG.f4d422408bf5b7639645cc10b653f7d4.PNG

and I've arrived with Everton having just fallen into the bottom three, so my only objectives this season are a squad revamp and survival. Anything else would be a huge bonus, although long term, I'm hoping that this is going to be where I win my first title

We beat Newcastle in my opening match as Everton manager, but the rest of the month showed me why they're in trouble

Despite being in horrible form, we're only 3 points from safety, and the January transfer window is about to open. No prizes for guessing that I'll be strengthening the defence

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson got injured in training between me making an offer for him and signing for us, so has yet to play for me, but I expect him to be a reliable deputy for years to come

Henderson.thumb.PNG.76ce8bfdc8b25bbe6108b074e0d8c1d9.PNG

and Rhian Brewster is already among the goals, despite only coming off the bench so far

Very well done winning the Championship with Millwall.

Looks like you're on the way to pulling Everton out of the ****.

After a perfect February

in which we won the EFL Cup for my first trophy with Everton, and sealed continental football for next season

310570646_EFLCupFinal2027.thumb.PNG.79d4d867eb596c9f966e556ab206ce2c.PNG

as well as moving 13 points clear of the relegation zone, with a game in hand

Hope you haven't jinxed the rest of the season with that!! We should be safe, as we probably need to win a maximum of 2 of our last 11 games, 1 will likely be enough, and it isn't impossible that we have enough points already. I don't want to settle for survival though, I want as strong a finish as possible. I don't anticipate wholesale changes in the summer, but will certainly be looking for 2 or 3 additions, with probably at least that many moving on too.

With a run of fixtures including games against Arsenal, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd and Tottenham, April was looking a tough month. Ahead of those games was a home match with Wolves. I'm satisfied with the outcome, it could easily have been worse

1402837906_Apr2027.thumb.PNG.bb5906849114e52beff703c51f599b38.PNG

and with three games left, we have a slim mathematical chance of a Europa League spot. Securing a top 10 finish is probably a more realistic objective

Three games in May. Two wins, and then we faced Bournemouth on the final day, knowing that a win would secure a 9th placed finish

1831661861_May2027.thumb.PNG.e30083d7b677f1e9169caf0819cd47dd.PNG

but Bournemouth are no longer a struggling Premier League club, their win over us securing them a place in the Champions League. Considering where we were in mid December, a top half finish is more than good enough. I'll be targeting the Europa League spot next season, and hoping for continental success too

Time to round up the season, beginning with the club awards

923563681_Awards2027.thumb.PNG.374ff3c8bbb7b87418db4c6cb3cf53d8.PNG

the club stats for the season

1350794426_Stats2027.thumb.PNG.ba6262803cac65e18830e4b988fa9e66.PNG

and the review of the season, which for some reason shows a massive jump in league position on the final day, which didn't happen. We were 9th going into it, and defeat ensured we stayed there

1186794596_TransfersJul2027.thumb.PNG.06280007db7f8f29541dab254d2fc3d0.PNG

Izan Novillo is a defensive midfielder, and will be a regular in the first team

Milosevic is a striker, and he will be a regular player too

Bernardo Costa is another defensive midfielder, and he will fight Novillo for a first team spot

and that leaves my squad looking like this, a week before the season starts.
