[FM10] Bringing Ross Town to the top - Retro Youth Only

With all the hecticness of my main career country hopping every couple of days here's something that I'll play alongside my A-Z save and will probably still be at a fast pace but the progress will be slow due to the lack of things like Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment and with this being a youth only challenge I'll be at the bottom for a while.

Ross Town F.C. was a football club based in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England. The club was formed in the summer of 1993 following the amalgamation of the town's two senior sides, Ross United and Woodville, and joined the Herefordshire League Premier Division. They joined the Hellenic Football League Division One in 1996 but dropped back down to the Herefordshire League in 2007. In late 2009 Ross Town resigned from the Herefordshire League and folded.

Their ground was on a loop of the River Wye. The club was affiliated to the Herefordshire County FA.

And this is why I chose FM10, it was the last FM where my local side even existed as they folded in 2009 (Later they became Ross Juniors who play senior football now) so my aim is to take my local team to the top.

I've only loaded England but using Superbladesman's database that takes us down to the 11th tier and the only addition I've made is to put Ross Town in a playable league, I've chosen the Gloucestershire County League.

We're located very close to the River Wye, which floods almost every winter so in real life I presume matches get delayed quite often.

We don't need nets.

Eight games in September thanks to the FA Vase where we needed home replays to get past both Mole Valley and Bookham which has netted us £1,500 in prize money and now we're through to the First Round where we'll face 9th tier side Bishop Sutton. In the league we performed slightly better getting two wins which lifted us off the bottom of the table.

Through in every cup sees us face current FA Vase holders Whitley Bay in the 2nd Round of the FA Vase, Wellington in the Herefordshire Cup Quarter Final and Thornbury Town in the Quarter Final of the Les James Cup. In the league we're finally climbing up the table on the back of two wins although there's not many points separating any of the teams!

So it's a Youth only save.

And a retro save.

If you could have just given it a silly name and turned it into a journeyman save at some point you could have won all the awards in 1 thread this year! 😂

Your alphabet thread is too fast-paced for me. Mich as I love following your threads I just can't keep up. I will be following this one though. Good luck. 👍

That's Makoto's next challenge then - create a thread which can win as many of the FMCU awards as possible

Well I'm still using 3 strikers on this save so I deserve none of the rewards thanks to such fraudulent behaviour!

Thanks Jimbo, this thread, even if still fast paced will all be at one club and it will be a long slog trying to get 10 promotions so at least there will be some familiarity each time you/ anyone else pops in. :)

We managed to hold on to win the league but then we lost the playoff narrowly so we'll remain in the 11th tier next season.

We're now undefeated in sixteen in the league and haven't lost since our FA Vase defeat to Whitley Bay which sees us just six points off top now with a game in hand!

You might be undefeated, but you are playing in a league with Reserve Teams who's Senior Team are so obscure that I have never heard of them.

I'm pretty sure I've only heard of AXA (Cribbs), Yate (their first team) and Taverners (I choose to see them as the toffee making factory's team).

A very good start to the league now sees us going twelve league games without conceding and we're through to the 2nd round of the Les James Cup where we'll face Yate Reserves.

We lost Steve Oldfield to a 10th tier side so at least he's made a step up.

We also scored this peach of a long range goal!

A busy month and we're through to face Alsager in the 1st Round of the FA Vase after banking £1,700 in prize money from the competition so far, in the league we're still unbeaten and are top of the table by two points!

We also scored another long range effort but this was more goalkeeper error...

Promoted to the 10th tier! There was a problem in clubs not moving to the correct league or even being placed in the right league to start, but if it works correctly then we'll be either in the West Midlands League Premier Division or in the Hellenic League Division One West next season.

@nie jem frytekI've just read the full thread and still didn't see that comment. Looked at the date and time of your quote and it was like "wtf, that's the 1st page!"

Youth challenges were a lot harder to accomplish back in the day! They're still difficult now but you needed at least £300K to make any improvements and then intakes were smaller anyway.
