Benjoe
A Fábrica - Unha Historia Celta Vigo Good evening and welcome to my thread! The title is in galician (atleast should be) and means The factory - a Celta Vigo story. The first title was ****. I wanted something new. Couldn't come up with something. New title is result of that. The very first thread I post here on the forum, although I’ve been an active member of Danish FM forums for several years now. I’ve lost the spark, that once engulfed FM though. The need to play FM all the time, and the pleasure it gave me was lost 2 years ago. It has come back somewhat, however, and now I am ready to launch a new thread finally! I have decided to visit the Galic coast of beautiful Vico. The city Vico has more to offer though as it is the home of Real Club Celta de Vigo or more commonly Celta Vigo. Wanting to challenge myself and finding an interesting team I searched La Liga and found 3 candidates for my adventure. Neither of the 3 are groundbreaking overwhelmingly challenging clubs though; all have decent economy and fine facilities and squads that contain promising young talent. And talents are exactly what I want. I imagine it’s what almost all (FM)managers want. The promise of a young man developing through the ranks to become a starter for the team. Later on earning the captaincy of the club that he supported when he was a little boy, dreaming of stepping onto the pitch in front of thousands upon thousands. Feeling the cheers and roars of the crowd as he scored. The 3 candidates was; Valencia CF (who I have a soft spot for), Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo (obviously). I ended up choosing Celta because of their talents in the first team and several promising youngsters in both the affiliate club Celta B and the u19s. We enter the save in the second season of my campaign with Celta, but more on that later. First I have set some rules for the save. Some premises that must be met. The first is; I must ONLY buy Spanish players. Spain has immense amount of talented players, so no, this is not making it the most challenging save ever. And it’s not very innovative either, but for my first thread in a long time I wanted to go with something that felt good and maybe a bit safe aswell. The second is; I may only make 1 signing worth more than £10M (max. £15M) - and this is only if we have sold a player for more than £25M in the same transfer window. This is both to secure a financial balance but also to hinder me from just buying all the best talents and splashing cash left and right to assemble the squad. I want to buy young Spanish talent but primarily I want to develop our own stars. Our academy needs to become the best and most feared in all of Spain. Doing this demands work however. We won’t get there without the right investments and getting the right personnel in. The investments aren’t really up to me though. I can ask the board and make sure our finances are ready but ultimately my most important task will be to find capable coaches who can make my talents grow, and hire a solid HoYD who can spot the gems running around the Galic streets. By 2023, the year Celta Vigo has existed for 100 years, I expect us to be a machine. A well oiled machine running on the fumes of schooled players coming through our own ranks. That was the introduction and tomorrow I will let you inside the game itself and show you, what has happened in the first 3 transfer windows and how La Liga went down in 15/16. I’ll reveal we ended up with 74 points and a goal difference of +29. Welcome to the Olive city where the sky is blue and Celta Vigo is all that really matters! Benjoe
A Fábrica - The Factory Here you'll be able to find all the talents that come through our own academy, which I very creatively have chosen to call 'A Fábrica'. And a factory is exactly what I want our academy to become. I want it to just spit out talent left and right, that the youth staff will then be able to form until I decide it's time for their chance in the first team. I'll update it annually when we take in new youth players. This post will only contain screenshots of the players that are in any way interesting This post will contain screenshots of all the players who have come through our academy and I will keep track of their development, wether at our club or another, however all talk about the players will be in specific 'academy players' posts in the future. Sometimes I will, however, stop updating a certain player as some of them are very untalented and no longer with us. Benjoe
Season 2015/16 Ever since the first day in Vigo there’s been vultures patrolling our squad for players they wanted. Offers came quickly and the unhappiness in the squad grew quickly. Some players would have to leave with big clubs wanting them. Arsenal and Juve were ruthless in pursuit and quickly snapped Nemanja Radoja and Jonny out of our hands. Ironically two of the players I thought would be interesting to develop even further when I chose Celta. Following the two sales I wanted to come back strong with signings but I hesitated while I was searching every bit of what the Spanish market had to offer. Some early game-regens were snapped up on the cheap and a pursuit of Munir was initiated but ultimately given up upon. Up’s and down’s constantly. My tactic was in shambles as well more on that later though. The transfer window came to an end with young players leaving on loan and we ended up selling for £22.75m in the summer. I didn’t even spend half of that but still signed 7 players for a combined price of roughly £5M. In the winter transfer window the vultures returned in the form of Everton x2, and Monaco. Everton stole Cabral and Pablo Hernandez out of our hands and Monaco took Fabian Orellana. The Cabral transfer was especially hurtful as all of the £7M went off to some third party. ****. We decided to use some of the money earned and splashed it on an unhappy man named Sergi Samper. He is known by probably all FM-managers and when available for just £4.9M I coulnd’t keep my dirty, cheap hands off him. Most of the other players were bought for the youth and B team however. I have no proof for this assertion but I find it, that my players develop better when they and the team around them performs better. Therefore I decided to buy some young talent that would take my other teams to a higher level so we could develop them further. This resulted in the U19s winning their youth league but sadly I have no screenshot of this accomplishment and can’t find the league as it doesn’t seem to exist anymore, so you’ll have to take my word on our success here. Fortunately, our B team enjoyed great success aswell – and here I have screenshots to back my word up! They ran over all competition in the first half of the season, but after the winter transfer window their season got tougher as I replaced sold players with B team players but they still pulled through and are now playing in Liga Adelante. Good job, boys! The Spanish cup was no picnic as we were sent out courtesy of R. Madrid in the 5th round after extra time in Vigo. We lost 3-1 on aggregate. Giant Killers As Celta has been referred to before in the spanish media we were to a far extent giant killers. But one certain giant was just too much for us. R. Madrid was our biggest issue this season giving us numerous headaches and 4 losses as well. But when we played Barcelona we were undefeated evenly nailing a 0-2 win on Nou Camp and drawing 1-1 at home. Atlético had the pleasure of falling at our feet twice in the season, 1-0 at home and 2-0 in Madrid - if they hate us after this game, I don't blame them. We gave it our all, and honestly, if we had spent some more money on some players in their peak and had kept some of our other players we could maybe even have challenged for the title. But unhappy players are not something I want, and I don’t want it to fester within the squad so the unhappy campers found a new home and the rest got more game time. Ultimately we ended up impressing with a solid 3rd place. I’m proud of the group and looking forward to Champions League next season, though it’ll be a tough one as we’ll be selling a lot of our bearing players. Squad overview in late february. La Liga around same time. La Liga overview 38 games. In a later update I'll get into how my tactic was initially and how it has developed since, and,how it'll change for the next season as well there will also come both a review of the next transfer window and the first update revolving our youth setup. Benjoe
The tactic I wanted to utilize in Spain was a tactic I had great succes with in FM 15 in Newcastle with a classic 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 with inside forwards and BBMs on the midfield. We actually had some decent results with the formation and shouts I had chosen, but we kept on failing to dominate even the smallest sides and only small margin victories so I decided to shake it up and go for a 4-2-2-2 with these shouts. I wanted us to be more direct and creating bigger and better chances – and a lot of them willingly at the cost of defensive focus lost. It worked though and with the change of system several players stepped up their game or continued the good form they showed from the start. Hugo Mallo (RB), Daniel Wass (all over the pitch but primarily CM), Dejan Drazic (RW), and Iago Aspas (ST) all showed great form throughout the season and were crucial to our success. Dejan Drazic was a very rewarding player to see perform. He was 19 when I took the job and new in the club but I gave him the RW spot from the start and he outperformed everyone else on that flank. He was the leading creator with 16 assists in the league adding to that scoring 9 times. All in all our players performed really well stats wise I want to adapt my formation to the players that are in the club rather than adapting them to the tactics, but there are certain things I like my team to be. I want them to be aggressive and scoring a lot but still be defensively sound. This is sometimes quite contradicting but entering the new season I have made changes that I hope will be able to fulfill my wish. We are changing back to a 4-5-1 but this time with more specific roles in midfield but just generic winger roles on the flanks. My fullbacks will be on support to start with but I might try something more offensive later on. I have given only two PI’s. My BBM has ‘Move into channels’ ticked on as I want him to search for the vertical spaces where he can get open and be dangerous, and my lone striker has been asked to shoot less often as I want him to wait for bigger chances, and wait for his teammates to help him create better opportunities. I might change my striker into a role that comes deeper to join the build-up but for the moment, I want him to stretch the pitch staying high and on the edge of the last defenders shoulder. I am using a quite slow but fysically strong striker so getting him further down the pitch might seem more effective in general but I see potential in an advanced forward role as well. And the wingers and midfield roles might very well change too if I change the players or want to impact the game some other way. Currently we play with fluid team shape but I am planning on experimenting with ‘very fluid’ as I want all my players to support each other instead of trying to do each their ‘mission’. They’re a collected unity and I want them to play like it.
Benjoe
The summer of ’16 was one hell of a ride. We sold players for £100M! And we only spent £13.33M ourselves. That’s some profit but the profit will unavoidably come at the cost of some success. We evenly have Champions League this season, and with this group we’ll struggle to even get 3rd place, I fear. Arsenal and PSG will be tough encounters and I won’t underestimate Dynamo. But returning to our transfers, we were victims of our own success. Most of our players who were important last season became the targets of clubs around and soon we lost John Guidetti and Nolito. Quite some losses to take early in the window but we secured some early transfers ourselves bringing in both Iago Falqué for £4.6M and Borja Bastón for £5M so I felt we were covered with cheaper alternatives. Everton decided that they weren’t finished raiding the Spanish coast and sent a big bag of money my way to get their hands on our club legend Iago Aspas. £36.5M were paid to get Aspas to change from his childhood club. It was a good move for all parts however. He got a big fat paycheck – and so did we. We didn’t buy a direct replacement for him but recalled Ruffino Tomás aka. Ruff Tomás from a loan to Liga Adelante side Real Oviedo, so he can get rotation minutes behind the local boy, Falque. We bought him from Leganés last season for meager £145k and it already looks like shrewd business. I’ll monitor his development at another time. We made one last big sale on the very last day of the window. Daniel Wass, my fellow great dane, was sold for £20.5M to the London club, Chelsea. We didn’t really want to lose him, but my hands were pretty much tied. Too good an offer to refuse if I’m being honest. I decided to replace his versatile team role with a right back as I found us a bit lacking on that end. I decided to look at Sociedad and splashed the massive amount of £2.8M for their young RB, Aritz Elustondo. He’ll be back up to Mallo, but I think he can develop into something quite nice for us. Our transfer window in it's completeness looks like this: As you can see. Profit £££. Next update will be about the impact the economy will have on our future in the club. And even further along the road when I do a more in depth walkthrough of my squad I'll discuss what I see as main challenges after two summers like these where I have sold stars and bought young and inexperienced replacements. Benjoe
Andreu Fontàs returns to the pitch after 10 months out injured. He is clearly confused and believes he is actually playing volleyball. In the 86th minute he swats the ball beautifully into our own net surpassing Blanco in the goal who was caught by surprise and left completely blanco.. We lose the game 2-1 to Sevilla.. Benjoe
Economy and facilities After a transfer window that left us with about £85M profit of course our economy looks really good. We also reduced our wage spending tremendously at the same time as we sold wage heavy players and replaced with cheaper players. I can, however, already now reveal it has had a negative effect on the current performance of the team. We can’t play as dominantly as we did in parts of last season and I am struggling to get some of our players to perform – particularly last season’s revelation Drazic. I am tweaking some things though, and hoping it’ll turn things around for us. But for now, our solid economy will effectuate into better personnel and better facilities. As you can see, we are due to be finished with upgrades of our facilities soon and I will look to get them improved again immediately. We have made German team Chemnitz and Italian team Padova our affiliates as I look to get foreign talent in our YI. We can’t sign them but we might be able to foster them ourselves. In the future I will be aiming to get at least one south American and one African affiliate club as well. I have hopes that the board will allow us to further increase our investments in our youth development too. We need to put serious money into the program so the sooner the better. All in all, our facilities are pretty good and getting better so it’s very positive. Only drawback is the size of our stadium. Our economy is reliant of heavy sales or serious international success – or both – to function, but we are trying to improve on this. I have already invested heavily in our staff as seen here. Our coaches are well equipped to improve our squad and help them reach a higher level. I have focused on having good Spanish scouts so far who could scout Spain after players we could use but I have and is still slowly expanding our scouting to other regions in the world – but always looking for Spanish players. Maybe we’ll find some odd talent in the middle of nowhere, maybe we’ll find **** all. Who knows, let’s find out. Overview of our training. In the next update I'll show and discuss more about my current squad and what our future looks like in my optic. Will we struggle? Will our more experienced players flourish and help our youngsters shine? More to come!
Benjoe
If you follow my thread in the coming weeks or months you'll probably notice, that I change my mind a lot; Tactical setup, best position for a player, who to put most effort into developing and so on. And now it is happening again! I am, as of this moment, trying to get a 3-2-2-1-2 or simplified a 5-3-2. It'll most likely look something like this. Hopefully I have the time to make the squad analysis this evening otherwise I expect to make it by tomorrow night.
Benjoe
Squad analysis part 1 of 3: A Fábrica I feel that a simple A-team squad analysis would be too little, too easy. I feel that you need to know what goes on in the B-team and our u19s as well. Therefore I’ll start off from the ground and work our way up. In a greater sense we start off where it all really should start off, in our youth department; A Fábrica, who are led by David De Dios. This guy: He knows just about as much about tactics as Jon Snow knows about everything. Yup. **** all. But he knows how to work with the kids and I respect that. He can motivate them and give them a decent bit of discipline along the way. He possesses some ability to see talent in the squad so I hope he selects the right players but there might be some odd selections here and there. I don't feel the need to replace him now in any case. He knows the club and I want that continuity in my u19s. Overall our coaches are the best there is in our group, but we aren't matched with the biggest clubs so we can't really use this info to much. Our HoYD is a man I found from day 1, and I'm feeling very fortunate to have him since he is a man who knows what he is doing. He is great with youngsters, he is precise when spotting and valuating talents, and he is a pretty determinated man. There is only one thing I'd change about him if I could. I'd make his personality 'Professional' but he is ultimately the best HoYD I can find out there. I got big expectations and he really should he able to spot some gems as he already showed promising signs in last YI. A Fábrica: In the factory there is no room for players with less than 2 star potential. To have a 2 star potential doesn't demand much to be fair, so I've set my limit here at the moment. If - presumably when - we get a high enough standard of talents we'll move the min, potential up to 2½ stars. Looking across the players some of them should stand out. The obvious ones are: Óscar Pérez, Iago Lopez, Angel Molina, Iago De La Cruz, Ángel Alarcón and Javier Calvo. Looking at who performs in the team, however, we have a guy like Alexis Alejandro Fernández (A. Fernández) who is performing at very solid 7.43 but with a potential at 3 stars. He is just as interesting to me as some of the higher starred players as he is getting so much out of his current level and still could increase and become a very solid backup or potentially, if his potential is unjustfully 'low'. become a starter some day. I want to reward players with chances if they perform. That's sort of the whole idea of our youth developing. If we only look at the stars we get blind and miss some real gems. Some of the most satisfying talents to develop are those who no-one else believed could make the cut. And those are exactly the players I want to make it. Getting the maximum out of the talent is what we aspire to do, for all of the talents. That's why we're called a factory; We have set a minimum potential for players to get 'worked on' in the factory, and when they make the cut we'll do what we can to get the best out of them. I'll walk you through those talents I am especially excited about developing, and should you be interested in seeing and hearing about another talent you can just say it. We start off with our most promising prospect in between the bars. Óscar Pérez. Bought at Mallorca for 175k he is not a product from our own academy, but will still get a lot of his education with us. He has a huge potential, and I really like his capabilities. He isn't the tallest but has a decent aerial reach still, and he's got some good reflexes. He is agile and make good decisions often. All in all a very good prospect. But of course he has areas he needs to improve. technically he would raise his level if his distribution didn't keep him from being a way of relieving pressure from defenders while still maintaining possesion. His brain could also use some work as he isn't the most focused player. I fear he'll lose his focus in crucial times and make a bad throw ie. and end up conceding a goal. He is young however, and, he's got lots of years to improve in. But those are focal points in developing him. As I discussed earlier, A. Fernández is an interesting player. He performs well with and has some okay attributes. His major drawback however, is that he is 18 years old and a couple year ahead of some other talents who might be ahead of him in terms of skill and Gerardo Prieto (18 years old) from the B-team is quite some distance ahead of him, but more on Gerardo at another time. Ultimately I still believe Alexis Alejandro can make a career as a diligent backup in the future. I want him to keep improving his defensive side, limiting the use of his potential too broad as he doesn't have the potential to master multiple things. Don't complicate it, Alejandro! Iago is some talent. Resilient, with good work ethic who knows when to put in a solid tackle. He needs to learn how to pass the ball better however. That will be our immediate focal point for this kid. He got quite some starting stats so should be able to work him into a gem. Also performs consistently well for the team. A bit rougher than Iago López but still very exciting we have Javier Sánchez. He knows how to tackle and when to do it, and works well with his teammates. He can become a good ball-winner no doubt. I'll work on his strength to make him able to bully opponents off the ball and later on work on his positioning. Hopyfully he'll grow some hair on his chest and become a bit fearless in the future. Not a fan of that '7' bravery for my midfield warrior. Next kid on the block is Angel Molina who was bought at Leganés for 145k. He is an interesting talent. Having a tall body and good physical strength but also possessing a well-developed ability too pick and place the correct pass. Wether I'll utilize him as a CM, AM, or ST will have to be seen in the future but I do see him as a poisonous DLF(s) with the physical frame of his combined with some finess. I'll work on his first touch and technique and we'll see how he develops. The second Iago is just about as interesting as the first, albeit very, very different. He is currently ripping up the u19 league despite not having much more than pace to his game. Interesting, and yet, not really. Pace, and physical attributes, are in general very effective in lower leagues (that's my experience at least). But as I am planning to change system to a winger-less one talents like De la Cruz will be looking for new ground to stand on. Here I envision Cruz to have the ability to transform his huge potential into becoming a fearsome striker. He got plenty of potential to work with and age on his side as well. I can see him do big things, either that or a BBM role on the midfield where he can utilize his pace but lack of both power and work ethic pulls him further up the pitch. Interesting case. He'll be trained as a poacher for the foreseeable future then I'll cast a verdict over his future place. Potentially a Trequatista role could suit him well allowing him to drift to the flanks where he can use his pace. We'll see. Alarcón is just about the same case. Very much so in fact. He is bought in Middlesbrough for 500k however, and not our own product like Cruz is. He still got good pace and interesting flair making me curious towards a trequatista role. He''ll need to develop some hefty technique soon however but the potential should be there. He'll be asked to improve his passing. Sanmartín is a prospect I rate quite highly despite his uncanny inability to anticipate the events on a football pitch (presumably also outside of it with that '3'...) but everything else about his game has this sense of decent goalscorer. He might not become a starter but he could be a very useful joker to have. The player you send in late in the game to chase the winning goal. I'll work on his pace for the time being however. I expect his mental abilities to improve in the coming years and his technique will be worked on when he's got some quicker feet. Martinez is yet another striker I could see turn good. He already has some very fine combinations. Pace, ability to finish and good movement without the ball. This has led him to be the topscorer in the u19 league. That shows promise. I'll work on his pace like with Sanmartín and then we'll see in the future. Calvo the pitbull. Strength at '15', aggression at '17' and leadership at '12' at the age of 17. That's something I like! I want this kid to become a Tevez-type striker. Chasing every guy on the opposing team doing everything he can to help his team win and I do hope there is some controversy to this guy. Something to put him slightly off compared to our other players. The edge that will get him ahead of everybody else because he isn't hindered by morale. He just wants to win. Calvo can become such a star. I am going to work on his stamina now and later his first touch. His mental attributes will then be taken into loving hands. I think he'll be pushing for first team action in 2 years - 3 years max. I hope that a lot of these will progress to be valuable first team players in the future and I see a lot of talent here but I must not forget the B-team that has great talent aswell - and then we have the youngest squad in La Liga as well averaging 22.96. We really have a lot of potential, and I already have a hypothetical selection-headache. Next update will probably be as meaty as this so prepare. Benjoe
A Fábrica has been updated with screenshots from november 2016. All the players in the post (post #3) are from our own academy, some are real players and some are regens. They are now divided so it's clear who is real players and who are from our YI. Benjoe
Upgrades! Hopefully these upgrades along with all the other work and effort being put into the club will guide us to reach our goal to have the best academy in Spain. It is still early days of course, but we still need to keep an eye on our constant progress. I'll do my best to keep track of it and keep you guys updates. Benjoe
At some point in the nearest future I'll update the 2nd post that shows achievements with a season by season overview of how we did in all competitions, who performed; good or bad, what happened around the club (economy, facilities), personal glory and anything else I find relevant. Benjoe
3rd december 2016 Celta U19 We are in the start of the christmas month but there aren't many gifts in terms of club succes. Starting with our u19s we are having a decent season however. Top 4 is tough and close but we really need to push off our galic rivals, Deportivo and clinch the first place once again. Our players have been performing decent having the topscorer and the best performing players in general. Iago De la Cruz has been delivering a fair bit of assists for the team as well. Despite the tactical change-up we should be able to win it with the players that are at our disposal. They are the stars of the day after tomorrow so they need to prove their worth. Celta B When comparing our B team to both of our other teams you might get a bit of a shock. They have been atrocious this season and are getting isolated at the bottom of Liga Adelante. This has already resulted in my Director of Football to fire the previous manager leaving them without a manager for a while since he didn't feel the need to replace him. I found a replacement myself and removed some of my DoF's responsibilities. I'll explain why I think it's so bad down here in part 2 of the squad analysis. Celta 1st team Our first team's season has had it's ups and downs. A top 3-4 placement isn't out of the picture yet however and we could use a solid second half of the season to push on to the top. With the recent change to a 4-1-2-1-2 with wingbacks obviously we have had some changes that could impact our season inconsistently but I feel we've been a better team since these changes. We dominate a lot of our games and when our new striker duo - Borja Bastón and Dejan Drazic - start finding each other and have the cold-bloodedness to wrap up their chances I think we'll elevate to another level performance wise. But for now, so far so good. In Champions League we feared our group. Knowing a lot about Arsenal, who has Celta boy, Jonny, running their right side and PSG with their filthy oil hands we knew that further advancement in CL would be doubtful at least. Dynamo Kiev was a bit of an unknown factor but the away fixture would be a scary one. We started the group meeting Arsenal in Vigo before going to Paris. Both teams defeated us with a combined score of 0-3. Not the start we had wished for. A draw against either team would have been preferred but we hit the nail when we met Dynamo at Balaídos. They were sent packing with a 2-0 defeat and we felt some hope. Meeting them in Kiev provided a hard fixture and we weren't unlucky to pull a 3-3 draw but it was needed to keep hopes of a top 3 finish. Arsenal were ruthless in London and another defeat to the English giants came before the final game against PSG at home. Dynamo was 1 point behind us with a tough match against Arsenal - in Kiev however. They managed to get a draw and that effectively ment they wouldn't be able to challenge us for 3rd and even though we defeated PSG with 3-2 at home we couldn't push further than 3rd, but 3rd was decent in this group considering all our transfers in the summer. We are looking forward to next season. I believe, it is only second time they have evenly been in the CL group stage. the first time came in 2003-04 where they ended 2nd in a group with AC Milan, Club Brügge and Ajax. Round of 16 awaited but Arsenal also waited. The Arsenal side who went that exact season undefeated. Yikes. They proved to be a too big mouthful to swallow and a 5-2 defeat on aggregate ended the Europa adventure. To make matter worse, Deportivo knocked Juventus out and venture further. Deport went as far as the semi's before getting knocked out my Mourinho's Porto side who went on to lift the trophy.
Benjoe
Always a pleasure to let youngsters get game-time. Obviously the topscorer from the u19s deserve a call-up for an early 1st team debut. Wether he''ll get more game time or I'll call someone else up will remain to be seen. Now work on his, and other youngsters, contract will begin.
Benjoe
Not the easiest opponent to match up against, but no impossible draw either. We should be able to hurt them in the first leg and hope they can't recover in the second.
Benjoe
Furhter improvements are being made to our facilities, which are already very good. With those current facilities we should reach the very best training facilities and reach the second best youth facilities providing our players with expert training. As well as these investments I've been allowed to select my very own affiliate. It was a tough decision deciding which academy I would try to leach from, but I ended up going with an Ivorian club. The reason behind this is simple. Their jC and YR are immense and I said earlier, that I'd like some african and south american affiliates and now we have the first of the two clubs down. Hoping this will show in our next YI!
Benjoe
Losing 1-4 to Real Madrid in the capital proved to be to much to overcome despite a magnificent display in the return. Drazic was on fire netting a hat-trick however, with defensive qualms it wasn't enough. Ridiculous to allow goals through an in-direct freekick and a corner before committing a penalty. We did however turn a 1-3 deficit to a 5-3 win in 40 minutes. That is some accomplishment against Madrid who, as seen in the goalscorers, fielded their very best. We are playing with our muscles in the transfer window and making adjustments in the squads. I think we'll be elevating the entirety of the club if the deals succeeds. Benjoe
Squad Analysis part 2 of 3: Celta B Here comes the analysis of our B-team, finally. We've had a turbulent year so far in the B-team being in relegation danger all season so far, and still being there. This resulted in drastic changes being taken. I decided to fire the manager of the team and hired this guy instead: H He is no treasure tbh. It was hard to find someone truly talented to come take the position with a team on the course of relegation. Since hiring Gonzalo we've seen some more promising play and better results in generel. We are still dead last however. In the winter window I chose to strengthen the side with some fresh players. I realised we didn't have either quality or depth on our backs who were more isolated with with the narrow diamond in midfield, and we also laccked a CB with some physique. Someone capable of heading the ball properly, We adressed all these spots with new players and I moved some players down from the first team to get more game-time and help keep the B-team in Liga Adelante. B-Team We have a broad variety in both type and quality of players. We have some who have gotten first team football this season; Borja Fernandez, Pape Cheikh and Borja Iglesias. Both Ruben Blanco, Fede and Alberto Solís are in the first team usually but have been made available to the B-team to get extra game time. Some of you might recognze Iago López' name as he was previously a part of A Fábrica but recently has been moved up in the ranks as I found his abilities good enough for minutes in Adelante. Some players doesn't really deserve being here given their potential but as long as they prove their worth on the field they can keep a running contract. Here are some of the more interesting of the bunch. Feel free to ask for any one else. As mentioned we needed a CB with some power. We decided to pay a high price for this talent as his physique is simply something we don't have anywhere in the club. None of our players are this good in the air and it has proven time and time again to be a real issue for the first team. Xiker is a man of the future for our first team however, so for now he'll be playing in the B-team where he is impressing. Varela was recently bought from Betis for 2-1M. He has so far been instrumental for our left side putting in very fine performances and he seems to be a fine addition potentially playing himself into the first team next season if one of our first team LBs are sold. Gerardo Prieto was bought last season for 175k at Velusta and is looking very promising but being the only left back proved too much for the young back. Varela has come in and hopefully they'll push and improve each other. I have quite high hopes for him as I believe he has some decent base stats. Pol was out of favor in Juventus and quite cheap. We spent 300k on him and he has been dominant in his 5 first games averaging a 7.8 score. Wether the B-team is the limit of his abilities or if he can push on for the first team is yet unknown. One of our many Borja's. Borja have some quite nice attributes but his passing game is not really as good as it should be. He is not getting enough game time for the first team (Samper is just better) and despite being a product of Celta's academy he can't avoid fighting for relegation with Celta B this season. His potential is huge however, so I expect him to start a lot more games next season with the first team and hopefully seeing some improvement as a result. Pape started the season getting a few couple of chances in the first team and actually did well but still I felt he would benefit from more consistent game time and that was not something he had much hope for without going a level down. Hoping to see some consistent play from the kid. What a sad season it's been for Theo.. Damaging cruciate ligaments leaving him out for 7 months and counting and seeing stats drop left and right. I still got hope for him however, and when he is back I could see him making a comeback but he needs to bounce back immediately I fear, or else he'll get surpassed by others. Andrés arguably deserved a call-up to the first team more than most others considering his last season scoring 24 and assisting 7 times in 41 games but I just feel his stats are too incomplete. This doesn't change the fact that I am very happy to have him as a striker in Liga Adelante as he is having another solid season. Borja was the player I decided to move up instead as he have better technical and mental stats. His physical stats are very lacking however and this was a major fact in his lack of succes in La Liga, I suspect. Anyways he is back down where he seems to be more fitting. As seen we have 7 points to safety with 14 games left. Looking at our current form does give hope but it'll be a tough task to secure a place in Adelante next season. Benjoe
Squad analysis part 3 of 3: First team It's been quite some time underway but finally I've taken the time to make the analysis of the first team squad. We have some interesting players in the squad and also one talent from our most recent YI - one you haven't heard of as of yet! He is a huge talent and will be playing all the remaining games this season as our main striker. You won't get to see his stats in this analysis as I'll be covering him later in an 'A Fábrica' post. In terms of how the season has been going I can say, it's not been good. Honestly I didn't expect us to drop this far but the sales of all our carrying players has proved too much. We have developed a lot of our remaining players however and we are heading towards much better times I expect. Still we find ourselves tumbling around 7th place which means no European adventure next season. This might prove to spare us from a humiliation however as we had a really poor experience in Lyon. Our squad does posses a lot of ability and potential no matter how the season has fared though. Some experiments seemed to fail however - most notably possible the tactical experiment of going to a narrow diamond. We got some big cuts through the season, like the one in Lyon. therefore we are back to a 4-2-3-1 but I'll not touch more on the tactical subject in this post. I'll hang on to that until I have a better idea of what we'll be doing in the future. The squad looks like this all in all: Goalkeepers In goal we've had Alvarez and Blanco battling it out. This was primarily cause by Alvarez whining in the start of the season but when he cut that out and Blanco had a slump he got a new chance and took it and kept the place. His biggest weakness and a factor that'll threaten his starting position next season is his height and aerial reach thereof. He might get shipped of if a suitor comes by with a pleasing offer. Blanco, despite being 9 cm taller than his competition still has an aerial reach equivalent of Alvarez' so I doubt he'll be the future replacement. Not that that's all that matters but it is a quite significant matter imo. and I don't see his other stats covering his lack of aerial ability. Fullbacks/Wingbacks Our backs has been playing well quite consistently, this shows in all our four primary backs having avg. rating over 7.0 and providing with pretty numbers of assists. New signing Elustundo proved to be an impressive signing for just 2.8M. He has also proved his versatility having been used in central as a CB as well and proving his worth here. Very happy with this signing. Central Defenders Sergi has quite the technique for a Cb and possesses an impressive combination of passing-technique-vision-decisions. He can pick a pass and is a strong CB. I really like him, but it is a major drawback to be so rubbish in the air. Costas is much like Sergi. Good with the ball, but if the ball is in the air he is in trouble. He has a lot of potential however so there's hope he'll be able to improve in this aspect of his game. Otherwise he might be usable further up the pitch. He knows how to head but can't outjump many. jorge Meré is still a very impressive 19 year old CB. He's got decent stats and lots of potential left. He'll probably make a good partner to a more physical CB. This can be said about almost all of our CBs which was why we bought Ivan Marcano who sadly failed to really impress. Central Midfielders Samper has developed fine. He is increasing a little bit here and there and his stats are already very nice for a DLP. I like him loads and expect him to be here for a couple seasons more before being shot off for a huge amount and replaced with Iago Lopez from our own factory. Álex López came back from being loaned out last season and has impressed me. His experience has been very important and his dutiful play-style has been very important for us. Madinda was also loaned out and coming back I envisioned him quickly becoming very important for us. He hasn't either impressed or disappointed but he's been consistent. A fine squad player. Fede, however, has not benefited from the returned players. He's not seen much play this season and despite trying I couldn't get a good loan deal on the table for him. He played a bit for the B-team but has mostly been training. He's been doing fine though, and his stats are usable for some squad player role next season and with a potential that could see him go far he should also be pushing on for more time. Josep Señé is quite unfortunate tbh. Despite being a fine player I just haven't rated him. Others have been getting the chances ahead of him even though he does okay when playing. Last time I showed you this kid I talked about him being a future DLF for us, and he still does have the fram for that but with the emergence of Xurxo Bousa (who you'll see later tonight) Molina will be pushed to another position as he is too good to be a fringe player and versatile enough to be fit somewhere else. Had it not been for a lot of good wingers emerging from our academy as well he'd probably been tried out there but I envision him being a very solid BtB. He'll get the last few games of the season there and we'll see how he does. Attacking Midfielders Sergio Canales, who was bought in the winter window has not impressed so far but hasn't had much time to settle anyways. I expect better of him next season. He has some very nice stats so I see no reason why he shouldn't end up impressing for us. Josep Señé is quite unfortunate tbh. Despite being a fine player I just haven't rated him. Others have been getting the chances ahead of him even though he does okay when playing. Wingers On the left hand side we have Iago Falqué who we bought before the season started and he's been a nice replacement for either Nolito or Iago Aspas. He has provided assists and scored and is generally doing well. Rufino (I removed the ***** nickname I had given him ) is developing very nicely. Very decent technique with a beautiful first touch, very good pace with an ability cross the ball. He'll breakthrough next season I suspect. From being tried as our next goal-getter to being back where he started. He actually did well as striker but it just doesn't seem right. His stats aren't really screaming striker so I want him to come back wide and use his abilities out there. He should be able to impressed back on the wing. Solís is still being projected as an AMR. As we haven't used wingers in the majority of this season however, he has not gotten accustomed to the desired new position. He needs to impress though because we have Iago de La Cruz pushing on for a first team squaddie role, even at the young age of 17. Strikers Bastón has been a fine signing for the price of 5M. He hasn't exactly been scoring as he pleased but his role was to assist Drazic in attack and I felt he did that fine. I also believe he'll be able to do well as a lone striker. Claudio has done okay in this season but hasn't been consistent at all. I want him gone next summer.
Benjoe
A Fábrica Second batch, year 2017 Our second youth intake so far has brought us some interesting players and sadly also a lot of young men who won't be given a contract. We have had a large part of the players turn up with a potential of 1½ star. Even though some of these might have been wrongly rated, who knows, but we decided to let a lot of them go. The players I will show you now are the ones who have been signed. Gabriel is a left back talent who actually got some decent starting stats despite both his CA and PA being fairly low. His stats are placed pretty well for a defensive back - except for his positioning. If he can use his PA on raising his defensive attributes he might be a defensive squaddie some day. Saúl is sort of the same type. As poor a potential and even worse CA. He got a lot of one's in terms of stats. In terms of his technical stats I don't think I've seen worse in a long time. He might be able to turn into a no-nonsense CB using his body as his greatest asset. Sánchez might have, might not have, a higher potential thant the previous two. But no matter what he is not looking impressive either. Some of the stats looks decent but mostly he lacks a lot - especially his physique has alarm bells ringing if he wants to become a CB. Dani Conde looks very interesting compared to the previous guys. Has talent, has the starting stats placed well and is very ambitious. His personality would have been better with some professionalism aswell but I'll find a tutor for him and fix that. He, like the other CBs, lacks the physique to really shine but he can be a faster CB accompanied by a tough tackler. I got quite big hopes. I'll work on his physique first probably. Sergio is an okay prospect but nothing to get excited about. He has some speed and can make a pass but he got some work to do to get anywhere near our first team in the future. He'll be asked to train his crossing and first touch. Mario actually fell in potential after getting signed with. What a luck bastard he was to get through then. All in all he really doesn't look good although he does have a good first touch, just a pity that he doesn't know what the **** he should do when he has it afterwards. He's here, so we'll work on him ofc, but don't even know where to start. Ignacio is a really exciting talent however. He has some good offensive technical stats. He can tame the ball and use it to an okay extent and he has some nice mental strength as well although lacking some coolness that'll come with age. He also has a nice physical side of his game. Really nice talent. Dao is a pleasant surprise! He was only rated to have 2 star potential but have a month after the YI risen to 4 stars effectively doubling his rating. He is very fast and pretty strong and works quite hard. His attacking game needs to be improved but I can see him being an impact sub in the future coming on when the opponent are worn off and then running through the lines to score easy goals. I'll ask him to be taught to beat the offside trap and round the keeper. Here comes the real gem! The YI bugged so I had to wait a week to see the players potential but straight away I could see, that this kid was going places. With a height of 197 cm he'll be a towering presence and has a very good jumping reach thereof and it'll only increase. He needs to build some strength as well and some stamina too however. He is very good mental. He reads the game well and is quite cool in front of the goal. His technique is also impressing for such a tall, lanky kid. His finishing and first touch however are the real deal. they're already better than almost all other players in our first team squad - which ofc also is quite sad, but it is also a sign of how far ahead Xurxo is in that aspect. His name is also amazing. He screams star. I want him to be as dominant as possible and despite never really having had to much succes with a Target Man I want to try it to get the most out of his game. If he gets well rounded enough I might use him as a complete forward instead. His heading needs to increase right now however as I want him to use his height to his advantage even more. He's gotten the last two games in La Liga scoring one goal, thus becoming our youngest goalscorer ever. He'll be getting the last couple of games in the season as well and I am expecting to keep him in the first team next season. I'll update 'A Fábrica' another time with their screenshots and I'll also come up with new screenshots for the previous players to come through our academy. Good times are coming. RCtheOnly
Celia Vigo huh? Interesting team of choice. I've actually considered starting a save as them but unlike you I'd probably not make as much money since I dislike selling players, I get too fond of my failed signings who never plays a game. My untrained eye also feel Xurxo could be something good, the most lacking as of now seems to be his physicals which shouldn't be hard to improve at that age. I'm wondering though mainly because of our shared nationality, how is Guidetti doing at Juventus? Has he broke through the first team?

I can highly recommend Celta that's for sure, but there are a lot of other fun options in Spain! Haha, this is also mainly due to the fact that all players must have a release clause in Spain so sometimes I didn't choose to sell but was forced. When I develop a talent myself I get very stubborn as to not sell them. Yeah, Xurxo really stands out to even blind people I imagine. Think he'll really become something special. Never had a talent like him before - the height and physical frame. I think he'll build up strength 'easily' and then move on to be a force to reckon with. Here are some ss! Spoiler I'm afraid he hasn't exactly had a pleasant time. With his stats he should have been a star but he is not getting the chances it seems - and he has not been injured. Juve using 2 strikers have Mandzukic and Dybala as starters and then Carlos Vela, Léo Baptistão and Guidetti. So it's tough and makes you wonder why they'd be willing to fork out 17.5M for Guidetti if they won't use him.
Benjoe
Post #3 "A Fábrica - The Factory" has been updated and I have decided to make it more comprehensive adding info about the HoYD, facilities and other factors that might be relevant to the YI. Check it out, it took some time to setup so hope it works well and is easy to 'navigate' through. New screens of; all the real players, our first batch, and second batch. I might get an update out tomorrow about the talents around the club and those who are impressing the most.
RCtheOnly
As I read your post I remember that the minimum release clauses was a major reason why I didn't choose to manage in Spain for my current save. Might try one out but I feel players wanted to have it so ridiculously low. Thanks for the screens of Guidetti! His move to Juventus seems to have panned out like I thought it would, it really makes me wonder because in his age a major development isn't really likely and if they don't play him he won't certainly won't be able to be sold for a bigger fee than they got him for. Ronaldo Beckham
What an awesome story mate, had me engrossed, made me want to start a Celta save just how you have done it. Just one question, did you get your talented players onto new contracts with higher minimum fee release clauses on the first day of your save or leave it as it is, just wondering as I was thinking of doing it myself when I start a new save with Celta but then I am thinking of giving them new contracts will lower my finances cos of giving them better wages etc.

Yeah it can scare players away but I find it giving the game another aspect. You have the constant risk of Real or Barca just stealing your best talent all the time so you have to plan for the future and secure some good contracts with high RC's. You're welcome mate. I had the feeling when he left that it'd be a bad decision and ultimately it's gone downhill for him. 29 minutes ago, Ronaldo Beckham said: What an awesome story mate, had me engrossed, made me want to start a Celta save just how you have done it. Some of them got new contracts when I started, but primarily if I saw that their RC's were ridiculously low or their wage was so that I didn't see the wage rise as a threat to my overall budget. All in all I think I handed out new contract to the 4-5 talents I thought the highest of. Sales are however, a very big part of the economy - at least has been for me. Ronaldo Beckham
Yeah I am just thinking if I negotiate their contracts and get a better minimum release clauses that it makes the club more money when clubs come for them but also keeps the best players I have a bit longer. Benjoe
Just now, Ronaldo Beckham said: Yeah I am just thinking if I negotiate their contracts and get a better minimum release clauses that it makes the club more money when clubs come for them but also keeps the best players I have a bit longer. Exactly. It is really about investing, knowing or guessing which players will be worth the most in the future. I find that it's not a huge necessity to give a new contract to a guy who has a RC of say 15M if I would accept the same offer for example. But if I think the player could rise to almost the double then it's obviously a different case and I'd stretch pretty far to increase the RC. The RC is ultimately only worth as much as the buying club is willing to pay. Either it'll stop them stealing your players cheap and demanding a higher fee or completely negating their interest. 5 minutes ago, Ronaldo Beckham said: Oh yeah also do you manage the games for the B team and Under 18's or have other staff in charge of them in the matches. I don't, but I monitor the situation constantly and move players quite freely between some u18 football and B-team action.

Benjoe
A Fábrica Let's take a look at our u19s who just finished their season. We have young talent being called up left and right! A good indication that we're doing something right in Vigo. Looking at the players we have a lot of players who are in and around the first team; Rufino, Xurxo, Molina, Samper, Costas and Meré are all players who have gotten first team games. And it's impressive to have Xurxo with the u19s and Dao and Gómez with the u20 to the World Cup despite only being 16. Promising times. Our youth team shone in their league aswell. As seen we clinched the title on goal difference beating our fierce, local rivals Deportivo with just +2! What a time to be alive! Calvo was unstoppable for our u19s but I decided to move him up to the B-team despite his succes down here. All in all the team did really well to win the league and I am very happy about the work David De Dios has done with them. Since I just updated their ss in the third post I won't talk about any individuals this time. I might do this some time in October or November however but for now this is it. Benjoe
Season 2016-17 This past season has been a tough one. We sold a lot of important players and tried to replace them with our own product. This took a toll on our results. We dropped far from our third place last season and ended outside of the CL places. We almost dropped out of the EC places but just barely got the 7th place that allowed us to get some international football next season. We didn't have much succes in the other 3 competitions. Drazic performed well enough in the league to become runner up in the young player of the year award despite having a poor last half of the season. He needs to perform better next season as he looked fairly average large parts of this season except for a few impressive games. Looking across the team sheet we have a lot of potential and a lot of young placers - like last season. Some players have performed well and some kinda dissapointed. Hugo Mallo was a player I expected far more of this season but he had a hard time performing consistently. Andreu Fontás came back from a lengthy injury and played atrociously at first. One game I threw him on the bench after 50 minutes played. He had a rating of 5.1. Iago Falque did really good considering the circumstances and the fact he - like most of our players - was moved a bit around due to change of tactics. He did far better than Canales who had a difficult time settling at first but later on raised his game in the league. Borja Bastón was quite cheap and did quite well. He used his physique well and scored some important goals. He was never a gamer-winner for us however, and maybe Beavue should have played more often. Rufino got chances and impressed which is promising for next season. Alberto Solís did well too, and Angel Molina had some decent showings. It was clear that Xurxo was too green to be an immediate starter and I am considering giving him a couple of months in the u10 league next season to build som momentum for the kid before he enters the big stage for good. Looking at our B-team it doesn't look too pretty. Bustamente didn't last long and despite my reluctance to firing him our president decided to overrule me and throw him off the bus. Fine, I guess. He wasn't impressing but I doubt I can find any replacement better qualified so it's a bit of an annoyance tbh. It's also irritating to see the team get relegated after using money to keep the team up but seeing them fail relentlessly. Some good news to end the update! Benjoe
The current break is a combined result of little time for gaming lately, a transfer window needing diligent work and an overhaul of all 3 squads in terms of amount of players. I feel that we have way too many players currently which means that our many young talents aren't getting the needed game time at their appropriate level so I've decided to release a lot of players who weren't ever gonna make it and am planning to loan out a lot of others and keep players I want to monitor closely. I am also bringing in a few players with good personalites and PPM's so I have players who can tutor our youngsters as we don't have many of these currently. Benjoe
I have plans for some more serious talk about talents and how we will look to develop them in the future. The problem is, I don't know when I'll have time to make it as I want it to be thorough and interesting. I'll try to improve on the way I approach youngsters and how I develop them and when to do what and how etc. I got big plans so look forward to it. Benjoe
Youth Development - Identity Developing your own players is one of the most - imo. the most rewarding - aspects of Football Manager. The feeling that grows on the inside when you receive the new young players at the intake and access the talent. The feelings that are connected to the intake are strong and can make or break an entire season, at least for me that is. Despite this being a part of the game that I love and use most of my time on it is not necessarily something I am always confident that I am doing the right thing. Developing the players can be tricky. Finding their right position first of all and spotting their weaknesses and then addressing them with diligence isn't always straight forward. In this save I will go for different types. I won't throw some particular template over each player and make them duplicates of each other. I want different types who can offer different impacts. If I get a striker with high aggression and strength I want to enhance and utilize this. There is only one thing I want most if not all players to have, and that is technique. I want my players to be able to play the ball. It's a fairly common trait for most Spanish players to be comfortable on the ball and I want my players to be able to rest themselves and rattle the opponents when in possesion of the ball. Physically we want to be dominant as well of course but if we play properly we don't need to run faster than our opponent or tackle harder than them. We want to be able to play the ball around our opponent and let them waste their energy chasing down our passes constantly. We don't want to just pass it around them however as we want to be dangerous with the ball. We need to go for goals so we want to enhance the naturally creative and attacking side of our players. I'll be experimenting with a very structured shape for this season as I want to make it clear that we have different player types in the squad. In a very fluid setup I fear that they will tend to play more like the next guy and thus erasing their own identity. Identity is in many ways a keyword for the way we want to expose ourselves. We want to show character and a personal identity. Celta Vigo is like no other club and neither are our players. We are unique. This could get very philosophical real quickly as is what happens often when I rant about something so I'll stop this little introduction here and go on with player examples. First a player who has broken through to the first team. Rufino Tómas, 19, ML, bought for £145K I've decided to start out with the second player I bought when I started with Celta about 2 weeks ago. When we signed him he was a bit more raw than now but with just as clear abilities as now; a very nice technique shown with a fantastic first touch and a solid cross, combined with rapid feet and a good amount of flair. He is an unpleasant experience for any defender who likes to bombard the flank as Rufino will take no prisoners as he sprints into the open space. Currently he is set to train as 'winger' and this is to help develop multiple stats on the kid. His dribbling, passing and off the ball are quite poor compared to his overall technique so I want them raised and this role will give focus to these stats among others - also stamina which would be very beneficial as well. He doesn't have any PPM's atm and I am currently trying to make him play one-twos as I see that particular PPM as a must-have for a winger like him. We will have an AMC close by and also a wing back pushing forward so he should have plenty of options to give and go and hopefully create something dangerous, if not on his own then due to the chaos his movement will cause and the space this will (hopefully) create. He is a first team regular currently and will hopefully develop a fair bit still. Having the 'professional' personality is obviously also a very nice addition to an overall exciting player. B-Team Compared to the previous screens I've shown of my B-team it's been cleaned up thoroughly and left are only players who are 20 or younger (except for Theo Bongo who is injured once again..). It's filled with big talents and it looks very promising for the future. The most frustrating part of the B-team however is the fact that I can't control their training nor tutoring. That results in 1 or 2 years lost in terms of directly controlling their development so in the future I might look to let players jump straight to the first team and then be eligible to the B-team instead of letting them train with the B-team. Multiple reasons for this as well to be sensible. The coaches I have for the first team and for the B-team are not the same and are in very different classes in terms of quality. The training they would receive in the first team would be of much higher quality so like I said in the future I'll look to make things differently but it might come at the cost of overloading my coaches so it will have to be tested and monitored as I transition into new times. For now these are the players who'll be down here anyway. I'll point out three of the bunch and discuss in terms of developing and to focus on the identities of the players I'll choose three different individuals. Gerardo Prieto, 19, DL, bought for £175K Seeing as Gerardo is the second best performing player in the B-team I find it obvious to pick him out as he is an interesting player to develop. Looking at stats he is a player who can accelerate quickly but just as quickly reaches his top speed. This would incline me to let him be a more defensive back not having to cover much ground as his low pace would been he'd be overtaken by quicker wingers but in short distances it would take a special player to get passed him. His technical abilities gives even more reason to keep him as a more defensive back when he is breaking through to the first team. He does posses a somewhat okay cross and a pass that mostly will be acceptable for his current level but his technique reveals that he won't have many different passes in mind when picking a pass - and this is okay! I don't need him to be a creator, I just want his technical abilities to be at a reasonable state as to ensure he isn't a liability to our possesion football. Currently I can't control his training, assign him a tutor, or ask him to learn any PPM's so this is kinda redundant to discuss but nevertheless I'll say as much that he'll be trained to use most of his potential to be a solid defensive back. Seeing how he develops will tell me if he could also be a more offensive back but for the moment his identity doesn't lie in offensive prowes. Damián Arroyo, 19, AMC, bought for £80K Next up is Arroyo who is a diligent individual and a player I'd really love to develop into a first team player. He isn't too far off either. I envision he could get his debut this season in the second half of the season depending on form, injuries and transfers. He has some really interesting stats and quite an identity. Professional individual who never stops working for the team and does it all 90 minutes. He also has an uncanny ability to do the right thing on the pitch furthermore underlining his professional and dedicated approach to the game. He has decent technique and an okay pass as well but it is mentally he shines. As he is playing for the B-team I am not deciding how he is trained but when I do decide he will be trained in the technical aspect of the game adding some off the ball as well. Javier Calvo, 18, STC, own academy Calvo is a player with a mixed character tbh. He is very interesting but he really needs to be tutored so when I have a tutor available I'll be moving him to the first team to tutor and control training for him. He needs to get away from the 'balanced' personality. But looking at his stats he is a super aggressive player possessing quite some strength for a kid of his height. He isn't short but not exactly tall either. His technique is fairly developed but he needs work on his mental and physical aspects. He isn't a very clever player nor does he compensate for this with great pace. He uses his muscle however and aggression to get ahead of opponents and being the player averaging the best score he is doing a fine job at that. Looking forward to make him a first team player. U-19s Here are our u19s. As with the case of our B-team I've cleaned up here as well. Some players have been let go and some are out on loan but most importantly we only have players who will be looking to get a lot of game time. Having a lot of players without feeding them game time is useless anyway. They need to play to develop so of course the squad needed to be thinner. Now it's looking a lot better and we got some very interesting prospects. I'll only be discussing Ignacioand Xurxo of this bunch - but honorable mentions to Pablo Sáez and Souleymane who have been terrific so far. Ignacio Gómez, 16, AMC/STC. own academy Ignacio has really stolen the headlight as he is a very well developed player for his age. He has very fine technical abilities and does have some cleverness to his overall game as well. Physically he is also a bit ahead of his age. He might skip the B-team and jump straight to the first team for the next season. Currently he is trained as a shadow striker with further focus on his dribbling. This should ensure him increasing both his strong sides and weak sides offensively. He is also being tutored by a professional senior player. Xurxo Bouza. 16, STC, own academy I was extremely hyped about him when he came through but he has seemingly stalled at this moment. I am not too worried however as I expect him to still turn into a monster. He still got the raw abilities to score many goals he just lacks the physical side. I am trying currently to work on his quickness as I want him to be a bit quicker off his feet as I think this is hindering him to some extent. I have put him together with a resolute tutor hoping to get his personality sorted out asap as this is also a possible stumbling block. I still have high hopes so just need to get his game upped. He has some x-factor as he is a rare case with his size and finishing prowess at this age. Conclusively I'll say that there a lot of interesting prospects in our club and we are really building towards an exciting future.

Benjoe
Having analyzed our team a bit I find some major weaknesses and some strengths that need to be used. It is quite alarming that we have the worst work rate in the entire league. Even worse is that some of our key players are the ones dragging us down; Falqué 8, Alberto Bueno 8,Drazic 10, Canales 10, Samper 11, Rufino 12. Some of these players are however still performing at a very high level but especially Drazic has been finding it hard to reach the level of play he portayed in his first season with us. Looking at our hardest workers we have names like Álex Lopez 15, Madinda and José Angel 15, and they are among our best performers as well. In the future I will look more at the work rate stat as this will really help our play style and the player himself as well. We can't play how we want to if our players aren't willing to put in the needed work to win the games. It is a positive sign however that our decision making is so good. This could speak towards a more fluid shape allowing more freedom to make the right decision but for now I'll still experiment with a more structure shape trying to avoid our lack of work rate being exposed too much. Technically we are a quite decent team but we really lack a lot of mental strength. We lack som character and heart but I do believe that we have got some young talents with good character ready to break the wall to the first team next season. This season we'll have to survive without. A factor that have to be considered here however is that we have about 5-6 players in the first team squad who are purely there for tutoring reasons and won't be getting game time. I am actually not sure if they figure in our averages as they are not registered to play but if they do that will obviously have a negative effect here as they are past their peak. Of tactical changes I'll be trying to utilize a 4-1-4-1 looking like this: Introducing a Half Back to our formation I've decided to pull Jorge Meré back into the first team. I found his lack of aerial presence a threat to our central defence but I find that his abilities are soothing to a Half Back being a good worker and physically enduring. He and Borja Fernandez will battle it out for the starting spot here. The first test of the tactic will be against Valencia at Mestalla. Borja will be getting the nod for this one. Benjoe
Well.. That wasn't exactly what we'd hoped for. We managed to score one but we created nothing., Simply not good enough. We didn't have a single finish in first half and was put under quite some pressure. I tried altering the roles here and there but I think it was just as much down to tactic as personnel. I was probably also a bit too optimistic thinking we could dominate possesion at Valencia's home but still didn't expect this. Looking at avg. positions and the heat map we can see that some runners from the middle and flanks was lacking. We really didn't manage to put pressure on Valencia's defenders and were very compact and pushed back to our own half. Rufino made the assist to Madinda's goal crossing the ball well and had I changed his role to attacking earlier in the game he might have done this more often than the case was. Likewise the middle of the pitch needs a deep runner. I really like Madinda's RPM role as he has the engine and character to fulfill the expectations of this role and has been instrumental so far this seasonbut despite my liking of his fulfilment so far I'll change his role to a CM(a). Madinda is currently learning the "get forward whenever possible" ppm as well so he should become more of an attacking threat in the future. Samper is our best playmaker and despite his reluctance to push forward I want him in our first 11 but his role will be changed to an AP(s) and he'll be asked to refrain from staying back all the time as I want him further up the pitch as well. Our MR will be changed to support too instead of attacking and our ML to a winger (a). Our backs will also change as they'll swap roles so our DR will be on attack and our DL is on support. All in all these changes results in this formation. Espanyol @ home will be next game so hopefully this will give us a better chance to dominate. Benjoe
It has always taken me forever to ge5 through a season. One of the main reasons are my obsession of looking at talents almost every in-game day - mostly my own but pretty much every talent in-game tbh. But another reason that has been very dominant lately is my acceptance of fafailure - or lack thereof. If my tactics seems to be failing my mood goes down the gutter and I either stop playing for a while or spend hours upon hours trying desperately to fix it instantly rather than give it time. This has been the case this season and I am really struggling to get results. I'm still fighting with the tactic but I might crack the code later tonight and then I'll make an update about it, but the struggle is real atm. Benjoe
This is painful. We held them back for so long and created a couple big chances but the last 10 minutes became powerplay from Barca. They were pressing for a goal and we couldn't resist when Rakitic from outside the box fired a rather weak shot past defenders and between Sergio Alvarez legs in goal. We also had more passes than completed and attempted than Barca and only allowed them one ccc despite being one man down for about 90 minutes. I'm proud and sad. Let's build on this boys! Here Vigo. Benjoe
Calvo was being eased into the first team and did quite promising and I liked what he was showing, not he's broken his ankle.. Bummer.. I have to replace him with another young talent but I am not at all certain who this should be. Looking at our B-team and our u19s I see 4 candidates. First off we have a non-regen, Oscar Martinez. He's got pretty decent stats that mostly compliment a striker role well. I just feel his game is too limited physically to be our DLF as I want some physicality up top as we don't have much grit on our flanks nor centrally in midfield so a powerful striker would be useful. Ignacio got a bit of the same profile as Oscar got. Technically well established but not the strongest. His composure and anticipation is not really counting towards getting the chance yet either but this wouldn't be the primary scare factor. Mostly the reason why I don't want him as our DLF - along with his physique - is the fact that I want him either on left flank as an IF or in midfield as a playmaker. Bouza is very limited tbh. He is rather slow and besides his jumping reach mostly due to his height he got a rather weak physique. He is technically strong however and reads the game well. He got the offensive game to be a pure goalscorer but I don't feel like now is his time. He needs to develop for one or two years more before he'll be there. This brings us to the fourth candidate and the one I'm leaning towards the most. Despite his attacking game lacking the touch and pure finishing quality that Bouza posses and the quickness that Ignacio and Oscar has got, he got so much else. Along with a tall and strong body he got some pace and a decent work rate and to top it off he got an impressive combination of Vision (16), Teamwork (15) and Passing (16). I have talked about him once before in terms of being a future DLF and now it seems he'll get his chance.
Benjoe
Damían will get his big chance now as well. He'll be schooled and used as a AMR IF but tested as a raumdeuter as I think he got all the mental cleverness to do it. Looking forward to see our young players in action!
