Giggles
Sorry if this has been covered before. I always thought if a GK handles outside his area, it's a straight red-card offence? So why is it only a yellow card offence on FM? I'm not fussed about it, just wondering
Coentrao
It's only a red card if it's denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, when this happens on FM and the goalkeeper is on a wider position, the ME doesn't think of it as a clear scoring chance and gets the regular booking only. pl-fikander
Only if he is denying obvious goalscoring opportunity. Outside the box goalie is just normal player and all actions taken by ref are the same.
La Furia Roja
yer, I had one come out and just before my striker got there he handled it and got a red.

SCIAG
It's only a red card if it's denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, when this happens on FM and the goalkeeper is on a wider position, the ME doesn't think of it as a clear scoring chance and gets the regular booking only. It doesn't even have to be a booking, though I've not seen one in the ME where it wasn't.
markyosullivan
This happened to me in a play off final and my GK was sent off = Worst. Timing. Ever.
bullybeef
Try setting your GK to close down own area at the very least.
Mike7077
I know it's just a poor animation, but what annoys me is the way goalkeepers handle outside the area. It looks totally unrealistic.
av3ry
I think it depends on how far away the striker is from your goalkeeper. I've had one GK slide out of the box with the ball in his hands and only get a yellow, because there were no strikers nearby. I had another one catch the ball and walk out of the area with the ball still in hand and be sent off, the opposition striker was quite close by in the second one and was probably a bad animation.
