Bromley Preview

Media Prediction: 8th

Squad - The squad is pretty thin at the moment with just 17 senior players

Goalkeeper

Craig Holloway - Former Arsenal youth keeper looks like he might be ok at this level

Defenders

Arron Fray - Former player youth player again looks like he might be a decent player

Richard Graves - Is better at Centre Half but can fill in at right back if neccessary

Jerrome Sobers - Former Ipswich Youth player has been at the club for 3 seasons now and looks like a regular starter

Reis Boyle - Looks distinctly average

Harrison Dunk - Despite the impressive name i'm not sure he will make an impact

Marlon Patterson - Of the 3 left backs he is by far the best

Midfieders

Tutu Henriques - Maybe versatile and it could be the only reason for keeping him in the squad

Wes Daly - Nomadic Non league midfielder that could be a useful contributor

Salifou Ibrahima - Has played in the lower german leagues and is now out to prove his worth at Bromley

Nicky Greene - Another CM gives up some depth at the position

Ryan Dolby - Has come through the youth ranks and looks like he might be a reasonable prospect

Dean Lodge - Has plenty of experience at this level and that could be vital

Anthony Finn - Promoted at this level with AFC Wimbledon will be looking to repeat that here

Forwards

Warren McBean - Has 39 goals for the club already and could be a useful option

Paul Vines - A new arrival from Tooting & Mitcham, it could be a struggle for him to make an impact

Leon Mckenzie - Thurrock fans may have heard of him, no one else probably has and there's a reason for that

Pre Season Round Up

My first aim was to add some depth and quality to the squad so 4 players were signed all on free transfers.

Alex Jennings(GK) - former Leyton Orient man who will back up Craig Holloway

Simon Dunne(CB) - A former Celtic youth player who immediately becomes our best central defender

Levi Porter(AML) - Former Leicester man Porter adds some pace and flair to the midfield

Yann Ekra(ST) - Former Hull striker Ekra gives us depth up front

Results

Deal Town 1-4 Bromley

Perfect start for debutants Ekra and Porter in this one. Porter's 20th minute cross was turned into the net by Deal's Lee Allen in the 20th minute and Porter himself added the 2nd after 32. Ekra made it 3 just after the break before Joe Parks pulled one back. Youngster Ryan Dolby slotted home Bromley's 4th to seal the win in the 70th minute

Beckenham 3-2 Bromley

If I didn't realise I had a lack of depth before this game it was very apparent during it. 2 nil up at the break thanks to goals from Dean Lodge and Ekra meant we were cruising however 11 changes at half time suddenly showed how little depth we have and our young players were exposed. Beckenham pulled one back 2 minutes into the 2nd half through Sam McCarthy. Bradley Hunter got them level after 70 and then Harry Frost completed the comeback from the spot 10 minutes from time.

Grays 1-4 Bromley

We quickly got back to winning ways with a convincing win over Grays. Anthony Finn gave us the lead after 2 minutes with a penalty after Ekra had been fouled. Porter doubled the lead 5 minutes later and when Lodge score in the 27th minute the game was effectively over. Jonathan Dalton pulled one back 3 minutes from time but it was Bromley who had the final word qhen 16 year old winger Patrick Roberts fired home in the last minute.

Greenwich 0-3 Bromley

Levi Porter made it 3 in 4 after just 3 minutes of this 1 sided affair. Ekra doubled the lead 4 minutes later and but for the woodwork Bromley would have been out of sight long before Leon Mckenzie added the 3rd in the 69th minute.

Bromley 2-2 Charlton Reserves

This may have been a reserve side but it still included the likes of nathan Eccleston and Miguel Llera as Bromley went close to causing an upset. 2 goals in 4 minutes from Finn gave Bromley a deserved lead and but for Charlton keeper Connor Gough Charlton would have lost. They had their youngsters to thank as they turned the game around and rescued a draw. Adebayo Azeez pulled the first back before Morgan Fox grabbed the leveller 7 minutes from time.

Injuries & Suspensions

Simon Duune - Bruised rib will miss first 2 games of the season

Harrison Dunk - Twisted Knee out for 2 weeks

Aaron Brunskill - Broken Arm out for 6 weeks

Salifou Ibrahima - 1 match suspension from last season

Nicky Greene - 2 match suspension from last season

Overall pretty good pre season 3 wins 1 draw 1 defeat. New signings have bedded in well especially Porter & Ekra; only concern is that we twice let 2 goal leads slip out of our hands.

2010/11 - August Round up

Bromley 0-0 Dorchester

Looking at the Bromley bench you could be forgiven for thinking this fixture came in the middle of a crowded festive period. Due to injuries and suspensions the lillywhites had 2 16 year olds on the bench for this game. The quality from both sides was pretty poor especially in the final 3rd. Bromley were the better side having 10 shots compared to Dorchester's 4 however both sides only managed to get 1 each on target.

Boreham Wood 2-3 Bromley

If the 1st game of the season was dull this was anything but. A superb 1st half saw Bromley 2 up at the interval thanks to goals from winger Anthony Finn and attacking midfielder Dean Lodge. Elliot Godfrey pulled 1 back for the hosts before a 2nd Lodge goal wrapped up the 3 points. Mario Noto did pull 1 back late on but Bromley hung for all 3 points.

Hampton & R 0-3 Bromley

Bromley made it 2 away wins in 4 days with a demolition of Hampton & Richmond. Yann Ekra grabbed his first league goal for the club after just 4 minutes and their was no looking back. Anthony Finn made it 2 after 25 minutes before unfortunately being forced off with a gashed leg that will now keep him out of action for 4 weeks. Skipper David Graves headed home the 3rd from a Dean Lodge corner.

Bromley 1-2 Havant & W

Bromley suffered their first defeat of the season in dissapointing fashion. Dean Lodge had given the hosts the perfect start early on with his 3rd goal of the season. With Bromley creating plenty of chances they were looking good for the win until against the run of play Stuart Fraser levelled. Things then went from bad to worse as Arron Fray was sent off for his second bookable offence. 9 minutes later and Liam Sewell fired home to give the visitors the win.

Bromley 2-0 Welling

Bromley returned to winning ways with a good display against Welling. Goal scoring machine Dean Lodge gave the lillywhites the lead on 27 minutes when he finished a mazy run with a deft finish. Despite creating a host of chances the game wasn't finally put to bed until Warren Mcbean fired home in the final minute.

Bishop's Stortford 0-2 Bromley

Bromley kept up their 100% record away from home with another good win. Levi Porter scored a 25 yard belter to open the scoring after 12 minutes but his day was cut short just 5 minutes later as he was forced off with injury though it proved to be minor. Arron Fray was then also forced off with injury again though fortunately it turned out to be nothing serious. That however was not the case when left back Marlon Patterson went down injured 10 minutes from time with a knee injury which will rule him out for the next 6 weeks. Disaster then looked to have struck again in the 89th minute when George Daly scored for Stortford. Fortunately he was ruled offside and in injury time the visitors wrapped up the win with a goal from Salifou Ibrahima.

Review:

A pretty good month overall 4 wins 1 draw 1 defeat. The defeat was dissapointing as we should really have had the game won by the time of the red card. The injuries to Finn and Patterson will hurt with the lack of depth in the squad but they are only for a few weeks so not as bad as they could be. Dean Lodge's fine goalscoring form saw him named as player of the month for August.

2010/11 - September Round Up

Maidenhead 0-1 Bromley

We went into this game with a 100% away record and came out of it with 4 wins from 4. Levi Porter scored the only game with a well placed finish after 36 minutes.

Bromley 1-0 St Albans

The Lillywhites made it 4 wins and 4 clean sheets in a row with a dominant performance against St Albans. In truth the scoreline should have been much bigger. Anthony Finn's return from injury was well greeted and it was his cross that was turned home by Yann Ekra for the only goal of the game.

Dartford 3-0 Bromley

We were sent crashing back to earth with this woeful performance. Arron Fray's early injury set the tone with him carried off with broken ribs and ruled out for 6 weeks. Elliott Bradbrook score twice in the first half and Danny Harris completed the scoring in the final minute.

Stafford 1-1 Bromley (FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round)

Being drawn away to a Blue Square north side was not ideal but we had some confidence given they are bottom of the division with 1 win and 7 defeats from 8 games. Dean Lodge gave us the lead after 11 minutes and but for twice hitting the woodwork we would have doubled the lead. Instead Stafford levelled through Nick Wellecomme 6 minutes before the break. As both teams tried to push on for the win disaster struck as Hodge went down injured with a pulled hamstring ruling him out for the nnext 6 weeks.

Bromley 3-1 Stafford (FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round Replay)

A comfortable win in the replay saw us progress easily. Levi Porter put us 1 up at the break before Salifou Ibrahima doubled the lead. Darren Wrack pulled one back for the visitors but Warren McBean sealed the win by adding a 3rd.

Review:

2 wins 1 defeat from the 3 league games whilst also making progress in the FA cup means September turned out ok. The injury to top scorer Dean Lodge could well hurt though.

2010/11 October Round Up

Bromley 1-3 Ebbsfleet

A dissapointing defeat at home to Ebbsfleet in this one. Scott Ginty gave Fleet the lead after 19 minutes but Jerrome Sobers header saw us draw level just 6 minutes later. 2 Minutes after that though we were up against it after a horror tackle by Yann Ekra saw him dismissed. Ebbsfleet took full advantage of the extra man and Paul Lorraine but them back in front 4 minutes into the second half. After 66 Callum willock sealed the win for the visitors with a well placed finish.

Chasetown 1-3 Bromley (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

This could have been a disaster as we had our 2nd player in 2 games sent of after just 2 minutes when Salifou Ibrahima saw red. Simon Dunne's header gave us the lead only for it to be quickly cancelled out by Shaun Martin. Another header this time from Jerrome Sobers saw us retake the lead and when young midfielder Gabriel Rosado slotted home the 3rd we were on our way into the next round.

Basingstoke 3-0 Bromley

Probably the worst performance of the season so far as we failed to turn up for this match. Marek Tomana's first half brace put us in trouble and when Ricky Wellard grabbed a 3rd there was no coming back.

Braintree 2-1 Bromley (FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round)

Another away draw in the cup saw us head to fellow Blue Square South Side Braintree. In truth we were very poor and this resul;t flattered us. Scott Shulton's 6th minute pebnalty gave the hosts the lead and they should have been further in front before David Graves header levelled things up. 16 minutes from time adam Boyes struck the crucial blow and knocked us out of the cup.

Bromley 3-1 Lewes

This was exactly the kind of performance I was looking for. Yann ekra gave us a dream start in the very first minute and despite Derek Colquhoun's equaliser there only ever looked like there would be 1 winner. When Levi Porter's cross was turned into his own net by Carl Potter we had a lead we wouldn't lose again. Ekra's 2nd after 73 minutes completed the victory.

Thurrock 1-4 Bromley

A fantastic start for us in this game set the platform for the win. When Yann ekra was fouled in the box youngster Gabriel Rosado stepped up to convert the penalty. Adam Gross own goal in the 10th minute saw us double the lead and when Simon Dunne made it 3 nil; before half-time we were cruising. Yann Ekra added a 4th shortly after the break before Michael Power score a late consolation for the hosts.

Review:

Overall this month could have gone better. Knocked out of the cup and we suffered 2 bad losses in the league. We responded well though with 2 convincing wins to end the month. In other news we have been drawn away again in the cup, this time the 3rd qualifying round for the FA Trophy. We head north to take on Stafford again the team we despatched from the FA Cup. I also cancelled the link with Crystal Palace this month because they weren't really providing us with anything so we now have a link with MK Dons instead. They are actually paying us plus hopefully we can get a few of their better young players on loan.

2010/11 November Round Up

Bromley 1-0 Farnborough

This was a good solid win, with a couple of players out injured and facing a team not far behind us it was important to get all 3 points. The first half was a tight affair but in the 2nd we started to create the better of the chances. after 65 minutes our dominance told when Young winger Ryan Dolby powered home a low shot from the edge of the box.

Bromley 2-0 Woking

4 wins in a row now and another victory over a fellow promotion chasing team. Simon Dunne's 5th minute header got us off to a perfect start and when Yann Ekra doubled the lead a minute before the interval we were looking comfortable neither side created much in the 2nd half and we walked away with all 3 points.

Braintree 3-0 Bromley

It's official we hate Braintree first they knock us out of the FA Cup now they destroy us in the league. We just don't match up well against them. Ben Hunter's goal in the 2nd minute of added on time in the first half really deflated us and when Adam Boyes scored 3 minutes into the 2nd period we were really up against it. Karl Appleton added a 3rd 6 minutes from the end to complete this comprehensive defeat.

Stafford 2-4 Bromley (FA Trophy 3rd Round Qualifying)

If we hate Braintree then Stafford must hate us as we knocked them out of a 2nd cup this season. To use a football cliche this was very much a game of 2 halves. The first half was a tense quiet affair with both teams desperate not to make any mistakes. In the 2nd the game opened up and both teams went at it desperate for the win. Yann Ekra put us in front after 56 minutes only for Marco Adaggio to level 2 minutes later. Nick Wellecomme then turned the game on its head with a close range finish to put the hosts ahead. 7 Minutes from time winger Anthony Finn looked like he had rescued a replay for us but things were to get better. First Ryan Dolby in the 89th minute and then Dean Lodge in the 92nd scored to complete the comeback and send us into the 1st round proper.

Bromley 0-0 Chelmsford

This was a complete contrast to the 2nd half of the Stafford game as 3rd played 6th. Both teams were desperate not to lose and it showed with both defenses on top for the main.

Weston S-Mare 1-1 Bromley

Another tough battle at the top as 2nd played 3rd. Anthony Finn's 33rd minute looked for a while like it would be enough but in the end it was cancelled out by Justin Porter's 75th minute penalty.

Review:

2 Wins, 2 draws, 1 defeat and a cup win equals a pretty decent month considering the teams we were playing this month were all pretty decent. The cup win was satisfying but unfortunately we have been drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon who currently sit 2nd in the Blue Square Premier. In other news with the financial situartion at the club not getting better anytime soon and the club now £65K in the red we have cut some costs by agreeing with Striker Leon Mckenzie to cancel his contract for no fee. I'm looking at other squad players at the moment and more may follow him out of the door.

2010/11 December Round Up

Lewes 2-1 Bromley

This was a thoroughly frustrating defeat to a Lewes side that is really not very good. Jordan Anderson header early on set the tone and Ishmael Welsh's 2nd left us in a hole. Making some subs and tweaking the tactics made a small difference and allowed Warren McBean to fire home a consolation 6 minutes from time but in truth we were never deserving of a point and didn't get it.

Bromley 2-3 AFC Wimbledon (FA Trophy 1st Round)

This was a real let down I figured we would probably lose but in the first half we really didn't do ourselves justice and let slip any chance we might have had. 2 Danny Kedwell headers in the first half an hour really sunk us and when Brett Johnson added a 3rd on 42 minutes the game was over. Needless to say harsh words were exchanged at half time and in the 2nd half we at least restored some pride. Anthony Finn score our first on 71 minutes to give us a glimmer of hope and when Wes Daly smashed home a 25 yarder 5 minutes late Hayes Lane was rocking. Unfortunately we were unable to find an equaliser despite our best efforts which included a Warren McBean header crashing off the bar 2 minutes from time.

Bromley 2-1 Maidenhead

Thanks to our link with MK Dons we managed to get Striker Charlie Collins on a month loan before this game and he proved crucial. Going into the match with only 2 points from our past 4 league games it was important we beat a Maidenhead side sitting in the drop zone. Ryan Dolby put us in front before Kieran Lataille levelled for the visitors. Then came Collins moment of joy though as he scored his debut winning goal.

Bromley 3-0 Dover

The boxing day game saw us take on Dover at Hayes Lane as we looked to make it back to back victories for the first time since early November. New loan signing Charlie Collins made it 2 goals in 2 games with the opener and a Dean Lodge goal put us 2 nil up at the break. Levi Porter completed the comprehensive win 4 minutes from the end.

Welling 1-1 Bromley

A point at Welling completed our 2010. Luis Cumbers had given the Wings a dream 3rd minute lead and they proceeded to lead for the majority of the match. That was until Levi Porter's 2nd goal in 2 games rescued a point for us in the 75th minute.

Review:

The Month started horribly being beaten by Lewes and then dumped out of the FA Trophy by AFC wimbledon. 2 Wins and a draw to end the month though meant it turned out ok. Finances are getting worse and we have agreed to let back up Striker Paul Vines join Bath on a free on the 1st of January in order to get his wages off the books. Unfortunately only getting between 350 and 450 people per game is not going to be enough especially now we are out of both cups. The current wage bill means more players will have to leave meaning we may end up relying on loan players like Collins that we are not paying the wages of and our youth team.

2010/11 January Round up

Dover 1-3 Bromley

This win saw us go top for the first time this season. Wes Daly's early strike put us in front before the hosts levelled through Adam Bircahl's penalty. Simone Dunne's header in first half injury time restored our lead before striker Charlie Collins saw red for 2 bookable offences. Warren McBean completed the scoring.

Bromley 0-1 Bishop's Stortford

Our stay at the top lasted just 2 days as a Jack Francis 36th minute goal consigned us to defeat.

St Albans 3-3 Bromley

A great comeback saw us grab a point from lowly St Albans. Peter Smith's 10th minute penalty gave the Saints the lead before Dean Lodge put us level. Luke Berry put St Albans back in front just before the interval and when Phil Ormrod made it 3-1 on 84 minutes the game looked over. Ryan Dolby had other ideas though and 2 minutes from time gave us a lifeline. With the Saints trying to hang on we pushed forward and in the 92nd minute Yann Ekra grabbed the equaliser.

Bromley 2-2 Basingstoke

After last time out coming from 2 down this week it was our turn to blow a 2 goal lead. Warren McBean and Wes Daly put us comfortably in charge at the break and looking good for the win. Callum Reynolds header just before the hour gave the visitors a chance and Greg Draper sealed the draw in the very last minute of the game.

Ebbsfleet 1-2 Bromley

We were fortunate in that our poor recent form had not been punished by those around us and this win saw us climb back to the top of the Blue Square South. Callum Willock had given the Fleet the half time lead with a deft header 10 minutes before the break. Warren McBean cancelled that out though with a neat finish just past the hour mark and when young winger Ryan Dolby drilled home a low shot from the edge of the box we were on our way to 3 points.

Bromley 0-1 Weston S-Mare

Again we go to the top and then lose straight away. Nat Pepperell's goal was enough to sink us in this one as we concluded a poor month.

Review:

2 Wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats equal a pretty poor month especially as both defeats were at home. The win at Ebbsfleet was good but 1 point from 3 home games is simply not promotion material. In other news a local businessman has taken over the club and immediately took out a loan which has basically made our finances worse. Back up left back Reis Boyle and Central Midfielder Nicky Greene were both let go this month as were 2 youngsters that were not featuring Midfielder Daniel naughton and Striker Paul Flanagan. Meanwhile Charlie Collins loan was extended till the end of the season.

2010/11 February Round Up

Eastleigh 5-0 Bromley

Well this was completely pathetic, we just didn't turn up at all. We got off to a dreadful start and it only got worse. Tony Taggart and Peter Adeniyi put the hosts 2 up after just 6 minutes and we never looked likely to get back in the game. Anthony Riviere added a 3rd before half time and killed the game off. Jamie Slabber nodded home a fourth and when Brett Poate scored the 5th the humiliation was complete.

Bromley 2-0 Staines

After being embarrased by Eastleigh we took on top of the table Staines and produced a completely different performance. Dominic Sterling deflected Anthony Finn's cross into his own net after only 5 minutes and Finn got himself on the scoresheet 15 minutes later with a drive from the edge of the box.

Dorchester 2-3 Bromley

This was a much needed win against relegation threatened Dorchester. Anthony Finn scored the opener before becoming creator as he set up Charlie Collins for the 2nd. Paul gardiner pulled one back before David Graves header restored the 2 goal lead. Nick Crittenden's late goal gave the hosts hope but we held on for the win.

Bromley 2-0 Thurrock

3 wins in a row and our promotion push is very much back on track. Salifou Ibrahmia drove in the opener before Dean Lodge added the killer 2nd to seal the win.

Review:

An appaling start to the month was at least off set by 3 wins in a row including a morale boosting win over fellow promotion chasers Staines. Young CB Jon Martin was released from his contract as we look to try and stop the bleeding. The club is still making a loss of around £10k a month.

2010/11 March Round Up

Havant & W 3-2 Bromley

Again we follow up going to the top of the table with a defeat. This time it was to the team that sat right behind us in the table. Jamie White got H&W off to a great start when he put them in front but on the back of 3 wins in a row we were confident and struck back through Charlie Collins. Captain David Graves header a minute before the interval gave us a massive boost and set us up to win. H&W weren't 2nd for no reason though and Bobby Hopkinson levelled 16 minutes from the end. Both sides pushed on looking for the winner and eventually a goal did come to Jamie Hawes for the hosts in the 89th minute to give them the win and all 3 points.

Bromley 2-0 Boreham Wood

After losing to H&W we really needed to bounce back with a win and thats exactly what we were able to do. After a tense first half we finally broke the deadlock 2 minutes after the break when Ryan Dolby's cross was turned into his own net by Amid El Zakhir. Midfielder Salifou Ibrahima added a 2nd 20 minutes later to wrap up the win.

Woking 0-1 Bromley

Another win another clean sheet. 5 wins in 6 games have really pushed us into the battle for the title now. We had to wait until the 67th minute for the goal but Anthony Finn finally provided it.

Bromley 2-2 Hampton & R

This was a game we really should have won as not for the first time this season we lost a 2 goal lead. Charlie Collins and Anthony Finn had put us in control only for James Simmonds brace in the 72nd and then 81st minute to draw the visitors level.

Review:

Dissapointing to lose to Havant given we were in front late on; 2 good wins and then a dissapointing draw after throwing away another lead. Exciting finish to the season coming up. 6 games to go 1 point seperates the top 5 and only 8 points seperate the top 10. With games still to come away at Staines and Chelmsford we don't have an easy run in.

2010/11 April Round Up

Farnborough 0-4 Bromley

A fantastic display saw us keep up the push for Promotion. Ryan Dolby fired us into the lead before Anthony Finn produced a stunning display and scored a wonderful hat trick. The only blemish on the day was Simon Dunne seeing red late on for 2 bookable offences.

Bromley 3-1 Braintree

Another win despie Salifou Ibrahima seeing red. Jerrome Sobers header put us in front before Ibrahima's red. Scott Shulton levelled from the spot before Charlie Collins double fired us to the win.

Staines 1-3 Bromley

We headed to 3rd placed Staines in this game and came away with a great win. Scott Tyalor had given them the lead before David graves header evened things up. Dean Lodge scored 2 minutes into the 2nd half to give us the lead before 16 year old midfielder Aaron Brunskill completed the win 2 minutes from time.

Bromley 0-0 Dartford

We wrapped up a play off place with this draw. Charlie Collins saw red for a late lunge which will now see him banned for the next 4 games.

Chelmsford 0-1 Bromley

We headed into this game trailing top of the table Chelmsford by 1 point. Levi Porter was the hero in the 63rd minute with a low strike that saw go back to the top of the table with 1 game to go.

BlueSquareBetSouthInformation_LeagueTable.png

Bromley 0-2 Eastleigh

A shocking last day effort saw us blow promotion at the last. After a great win against Chelmsford we completely let ourselves down here. The day started well with Dover 2 down inside 10 minutes and effectively out of the promotion race. 2 goals early in the 2nd half left them trailing 3-1. Tony Garrard then headed in for Eastleigh 18 minutes from the end to put us in trouble. 2 more goals in the Dover game left them 4-2 down then Billy Bricknell put Chelmsford in front 6 minutes from time. That left us needing to score twice and with us pushing more men forward we were caught out at the back and Richard Graham doubled the Eastleigh lead.

2010/11 May Round Up

Ebbsfleet 1-2 Bromley (BSS Play off 1st Leg)

A great start saw us come away from this game with a win. Anthony Finn put us in front after only 3 minutes and Yann Ekra added a 2nd after 11. Paul Lorraine pulled 1 back for Fleet after 48 minutes but we heldon for the 1st leg advantage. In the other game Havant & Waterlooville drew 1-1 with Dover.

Bromley 0-0 (2-1 on aggregate) Ebbsfleet (BSS Play off 2nd Leg)

Not the greatest display as the Fleet were probably the better side. We defended pretty well though and Craig Holloway made a couple of great saves to see us through to the playoff final. In the other game Dover lost 3-2 at home to Havant & Waterlooville.

Other News:

Just 3 days before the play off final I signed a new 1 year deal to extend my contract to 2012.

Bromley 2-1 Havant & W

Promotion secured at home in front of our own fans in a good display as we came from behind to see off 10 man Havant & Waterlooville.

2010/11 Review - 2011/12 Preview

Overall a good season playoffs were my aim and that's exactly where we finished. Promotion was a bonus. It would have been nice to go up automatically and win our final game but when we lost it looked like it might be the story of our season 4 times top of the 4 defeats straight after. In the cups the draws weren't to kind to us 3 out of 3 away in the FA Cup and then drawing 2nd in the BSP at home in the FA Trophy; hopefully this year we actually get a decent run in one of the competitions.

2011/12 Media Prediction: 20th

Promotion Odds: 20/1

Board Expectations: Attempt to Avoid Relegation

Summer Transfers

With the finances not great and most of our squad simply not cut out for our first ever season at this level I decided to clean house and most of the players that were out of contract we let leave. I have signed a bunch of new players on free transfers mainly youngsters that I hope are hungry for football and keen to suceed.

2011/12 Squad

Pre-Season went pretty well we beat Solihull who are a divsion below us and put up a good performance against Dag & Red. In all honesty I think we were unlucky not to win; a draw with Telford but before we started making changes we were 2 nil up with our first XI. The Gillingham goal came late on and I don't think anyone would have denied we didn't deserve a draw from the game. We finished with Bradford at home and they were better than us and fully deserved the win.

Our aim for the season is obviously to survive but with the squad we have here and given how pre season has gone I will be a bit dissapointed if we aren't a little higher i'm aiming for 14/15th.

2011/12 August Round Up

Bromley 3-0 Kettering

A fantastic start to the season as we thrashed Kettering. With debutants all over the pitch it was Strikers Micah Evans and Harry Bunn who stole the show. Evans crashed home the opener after 33 minutes and when Gerry McLauchlan deflected the ball into his own net on 63 we were on our way to 3 points. Bunn then completed the win 11 minutes from time. In other good news we had 1,230 people turn up for our opening game a big increase on our average of 668 last season. Our season ticket numbers are also up from 110 to 236.

Bromley 2-1 Fleetwood

Due to our midweek trip to Darlington being called off due to international call ups another first for the club we opened the season with 2 home games. Micah Evans 7th minute opener gave us a great start before George Donnelly levelled. Evans though grabbed his 2nd of the game and 3rd in 2 to seal the win.

Darlington 0-3 Bromley

A Stunning first away game at this level. Anthony Finn put us 1 up at the break and when he tucked home a penalty 6 minutes into the 2nd half we were well on our way. Harry Bunn's injury time 3rd sealed the deal. This win puts us top on Goal difference ahead of the only other side with a 100% record Grimsby.

York 1-0 Bromley

Being top and given our history we were always going to lose this game. We probably should have got something from it though. Gilli Sorensen gave the hosts the lead but when Neil Barrett was sent off in the 52nd minute we had a great chance. Unfortunately despite pushing forward we were unable to find the equaliser.

Bromley 4-3 Histon

An amazing comeback saw us go back to the top of the table. Levi Porter had put us in front after 11 minutes but that lead lasted just 3 minutes before Larne Oyebanjo equalised. 3 minutes later and the visitors were ahead when Daniel Sparkes headed home. In the final minute of the 1st half Harry Hogarth doubled Histon's lead and put them 3-1 up. Micah Evans pulled 1 back for us 6 minutes into the 2nd half and when Jesse Waller-Lassen score his first goal for the club 11 minutes from time we thought we had grabbed a point. There was better to come though as Sam Sheridan drilled home from the edge of the box to claim all 3 points.

Rushden 0-0 Bromley

For the first time in 6 attempts we managed to not lose when top of the league. Unfortunately the draw didn't keep us top but it's better than a defeat.

Review:

Fantastic month winning 4 drawing 1 and just 1 defeat is more than we could have dreamed of. I knew this team had potential to do better than just survive but this is fantastic so far. When you consider due to injuries we have not even been able to select our first choice XI yet it's even better. Micah Evans and Harry Bunn have been super signings so far both look like they could make a real impact at this level.

2011/12 September Round Up

Bromley 2-0 Tamworth

Another good win as our impressive start continued. Anthony Finn scored the opener and winger Jesse Waller-Lassen added the 2nd 7 minutes from time.

Gainsborough 2-2 Bromley

Missed opportunity as we failed to beat winless Gainsborough. Micah Evans gave us the lead before Peter Murphy was sent off for a 2nd booking. That should have seen us push on and get the win instead Simon Dunne put through his own net and Leon Mettam then scored to put the 10 men in front. Harry Bunn made sure the lead lasted only 3 minutes but we were unable to push on and get the win.

Eastbourne 2-1 Bromley

Dissapointing defeat to an Eastbourne side in the relegation zone. George Porter gave Boro the lead before Hope Akpan levelled. Marlon Patterson though deflected a shot past Gunnar Nielsen to put us behind again.

Bromley 3-2 Chelmsford

A good win against the side we were promoted with last season. Chris Fagan's goal had left the visitors in front at the break. Anthony Finn equalised before Darren Smith but them back in front. Again Finn levelled and then with 3 minutes to go sub Yann Ekra popped up to nod home the winner.

Forest Green 0-0 Bromley

An even game but overall a decent point.

Review:

7 points from 4 games is a pretty good month we were unlikely to keep up our August form but it was a good return and helps us to keep the gap growing over those near the bottom.

2011/12 October Round Up

Bromley 1-4 Bury

Bury taught us a football lesson in this one as the top side showed us just how much we need to improve if we want to push on. Aristote Nsiala deflected a ball into our net gave them the lead. Andy Haworth added a 2nd and when Sam Mantom got the 3rd the tie was over. Ryan Lowe grabbed a 4th before Micah Evans pulled 1 back late on.

Bromley 0-0 Mansfield

After being taken apart by Bury we were glad for the clean sheet and the point.

Crawley 5-1 Bromley

Our 2nd battering of the season and our worst display by far. Matt Tubbs hat-trick ripped us apart whilst Mark Duffy also score to make it 4 nil. Micah Evans scored 6 minutes from time to grab a consolation but Ben Wright and Crawley had the final word.

Hayes & Yeading 0-3 Bromley

A great response to our recent form saw us grab a deserved win at Hayes. Mesca's penalty put us in front and Aristote Nsiala's header made it 2 nil at the interval. Jesse Waller-Lassen completed the win in the 2nd half.

Crawley 2-4 Bromley (FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round)

Just 7 days after being destroyed by Crawley we exacted revenge as Harry Bunn ran wild. 2 Bunn goals put us 2 up inside 4 minutes. Matt Tubbs pulled 1 back on 19 before Bunn completed his hat trick. Gifton Noel Williams got another 1 back but Bunn wasn't done and grabbed his 4th of the day to seal our progress to the 1st round proper.

Bromley 1-1 Kidderminster

A solid if unspectacular point for us in this game. Harry Bunn made it 5 in 2 when he gave us the lead. It wasn't to be though and Reuben Noble-Lazarus levelled with just over 20 minutes to go.

Review:

5 points from 5 games in the league and progress in the FA Cup equals a solid month. The 2 defeats were heavy and the performance in the league at Crawley was pretty awful. The FA Cup provided a difficult draw our 5th in a row away from home this time we have to travel to League 1 Scunthorpe.

2011/12 November Round Up

Cambridge 1-3 Bromley

A great win against a Cambridge side in good form. Jesse Waller-Lassen gave us the lead just before the break before Dean Lodge doubled our advantage. Romone Rose pulled 1 back for united before Mesca's stunning volley in injury time finished off the tie.

Scunthorpe 2-0 Bromley (FA Cip 1st Round)

A decent effort by us in this game against a side 2 divisions above us. Antonio Moreno's 2 goals in 2 minutes proved to be the difference.

Telford 2-3 Bromley

A great way to respond to our cup exit. Paul Rutherford put the hosts in front before Mesca kept up his good recent form. Ryan Dolby a minut before the break gave us the lead and when Harry Bunn scored a minute into the 2nd half we were well on our way to the win. Courtney Harris scored a late consolation.

Bromley 1-2 Torquay

2nd placed Torquay put us in our place with a victory that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. Daniel Boateng and Billy Kee gave the Gulls the lead before Harry Bunn's late strike gave us a glimmer of hope.

Gateshead 5-3 Bromley

Our defence forgot to show up in this one as we lost to a struggling Gateshead. Mesca had given us the lead before goals from Kris Gate and Matt Johnson turned it round. Ryan Dolby levelled but Craig Nelthorpe put Gateshead 3-2 up at the break. We equalised again through Sam Sheridan before Kris Gate's 2nd of the day and Ben Clark's goal finished us off.

Bromley 3-3 Wrexham

Twice we gave up leads as we left this game feeling as if we had dropped 2 points. Jesse Waller-Lassen and Simon Dunne had put us in control before 2 goals in 2 minutes before the break saw the welsh club level the tie through Mark Creighton and a Jordan Burrow penalty. Harry Bunn's goal 2 minutes from 2 time looked like the winner until Andy Morrell struck 2 minutes into injury time to steal a point.

Review:

7 points from 5 league games plus an FA Cup exit means we had a pretty average month. Not a complete disaster but certainly not brilliant either. We are comfortably clear of the drop zone and ultimately that was our main aim. In the FA Trophy we have been draw away to Enfield in the 1st round.

2011/12 December Round Up

Bromley 1-3 Newport County

Not a good performance as our recent poor form continued. Steve Lennon and then a Ryan Woods penalty put the south welsh team 2 up at the break before Micah Evans goal 7 minutes from time gave us a chance. That hope was ended a minute into injury time by Nathan Adams goal.

Enfield 0-1 Bromley (FA Trophy 1st Round)

We dodged a bullet in this one after Matt Fish's 28th minute red card saw us up against it. Young sub Vangelis Kosta saved our blushes 4 minutes from time and set up a 2nd round tie away at St Albans.

Grimsby 1-2 Bromley

We turned the form book upside down with this great win. Alan Connell gave them the lead on the half hour and when Anthony Finn picked up a straight red 8 minutes later we were in big trouble. The 10 men kept battling though and Micah Evans goals in the 85th and 88th saw us grab a great victory.

Kettering 2-1 Bromley

A Christophe Lemaire goal a minute from time sunk us in this tie. Aaron Conway's 8th minute goal had been cancelled out by young striker Luke Davies goal only for Lemaire's late strike to defeat us.

Bromley 3-2 Darlington

This was a really good win against an underperforming Darlington team. Hope Akpan's penalty was the only significant action of the 1st half. Saito Nieves and Dean Lodge both scored early in the 2nd half to leave us 2-1 up. Mesca looked like he had sealed the win although John Campbell's goal meant a nervy finish.

Fleetwood 1-4 Bromley

A fantastic display saw us make it 2 wins in a row and 4 in 5 matches. Dean Lodge gave us the perfect start before a Simon Dunne penalty doubled the lead. George Donnelly got 1 back before another Dunn restored our 2 goal advantage. Harry Bunn completed the win 7 minutes from the end to end the year on a high.

Review:

3 wins 2 defeats in the league plus cup progress saw us bounce back this month and kept us progressing in the right direction. Unfortunately due to the finances it could be a very quiet January transfer window with the club in the red for £75K and with a £125K loan outstanding.

2011/12 January Round Up

Bromley 1-3 York

Dissapointing defeat to a side below us in the table. Gilli Sorensen scored the opener before Anthony Finn's penalty saw us draw level. James Meredith and then a York penalty score by Anthony Hunter saw the visitors grab the win.

Histon 0-1 Bromley

A good win away from home as Anthony Finn scored again.

St Albans 1-3 Bromley (FA Trophy 2nd Round)

Good progress as we knock out Blue Square South side St Albans. Hope Akpan put us in front before Neil Janczyk equalised. Dean Lodge and David Graves though sealed the victory. Yet again we were given another away tie in the draw this time to Grimsby.

Bromley 1-2 Rushden

This was a a really frustrating game we were the better side but just didn't take our chances as Rushden put another dent in our slim play off chances. Micah Evans had given us the lead only for Aaron O'Connor and George Moncur to turn the game around for Diamonds.

Tamworth 1-4 Bromley

We bounced back with a fantastic display against bottom of the table Tamworth. The lambs were well and truly put to the sword as first Mesca and then Micah Evans gave us a goal advantage at the break. Steve Foster pulled 1 back only for Simon Dunne and then a 2nd from Evans to complete the rout.

Review:

Dissapointing to lose twice at home but 3 wins from 3 away from home including progressng to the 3rd round of the trophy means the month was not a complete disaster. We are pretty much safe now and our aim from here is to try and get a top half finish.

2011/12 February Round Up

Bromley 2-0 Gainsborough

After taking apart bottom of the table Tamworth we saw off the team 1 place above them Gainsborough. Micah Evans and centre back Aristote Nsiala grabbed the goals to give us all 3 points.

Grimsby 4-1 Bromley (FA Trophy 3rd Round)

We made a dissapointing exit from the FA Trophy with a real beating at Grimsby. Darran Kempson's goal was the only notable moment of the 1st period. Josh Fuller doubled the lead before Mesca gave us hope. Simon Dunne's unfortunate own goal put us back in trouble and when Charles Ademeno scored it was all over.

Chelmsford 0-1 Bromley

We responded to our cup exit in perfect fashion with a 70th minute Simon Dunne header being enough for the win.

Bury 1-2 Bromley

After being taken apart earlier in the season by Bury we got a measure of revenge with this stunning win. Micah Evans gave us the lead and when Ryan Lowe levelled the game looked like it was heading for a draw. That was until the 93rd minute when Simon Dunne's header gave us a fantastic win.

Bromley 2-0 Forest Green

We made it 5 wins in a row with victory over relegation threatened Forest Green. Mesca slotted home a 22nd minute penalty to put us in front and Micah Evans sealed the victory 20 minutes from time.

Bromley 4-2 Eastbourne

6 wins in a row and our slim play off chance is still alive. Jamie Taylor gave the visitors the lead before Mesca levelled. Aristote Nsiala's header saw us lead; that didn't last long though and harry Hooman soon got Boro back level. Harry Bunn saw us get back in front and Ryan Dolby grabbed the 4th to complete the victory.

Review:

Fantastic month 5 wins from 5 in the league and now we are not just looking at top half but we actually have a shot at the playoffs. The cup defeat to Grimsby was dissapointing; the fact we have only had 1 cup draw at home in 2 years is quite annoying hopefully that run changes next season.

2011/12 March Round Up

Bromley 1-0 Hayes & Yeading

Another win against another relegation threatened side kept up the pressure on the sideas above us. Harry Bunn slotted home the only goal after an hour.

Mansfield 3-3 Bromley

Our win streak is over and this felt like a defeat when Louis Briscoe scored in the leveller in the 93rd minute. Levi Porter had opened the scoring after just 25 seconds. Danny Mitchley equalised and then Jack Boyle put the Stags in front. Simon Dunne and Dean Lodge both scored within the space of 5 minutes to turn the game around again before Briscoe's late strike.

Bromley 1-0 Crawley

A fantastic win against 4th placed Crawley. Micah Evans with the only goal of the match on 53 minutes.

Kidderminster 1-2 Bromley

It looked like our unbeaten run was going to come to an end for a long time in this one. Michael Smith had opened the scoring but Jesse Waller-Lassen and then a Simon Dunne header in the 92nd minute saw us steal all 3 points.

Bromley 2-2 Cambridge

6th met 5th at Hayes Lane and 6th should have won. Mesca scored twice in the first 5 minutes only for Charles Reece to score 2 of his own and help Cambridge to a point.

Torquay 1-1 Bromley

A much needed point at 3rd placed Torquay. Kevin Nicholson's early penalty put us behind but winger jesse Waller-Lassen levelled things.

Wrexham 0-2 Bromley

After 2 draws we got back to winning ways in Wales thanks to goals from top scorer Micah Evans and midfield maestro Mesca.

Review:

Another great month and a playoff place is now a realistic aim. We have 2 winnable games up next and with it so tight in the race for the playoffs anything could still happen.

2011/12 April Round Up

Bromley 3-1 Telford

a good comeback win saw us leap into the playoff places. James Parsonage had scored for the visitors before Simon Dunne's header levelled things up. In form Jesse Waller-Lassen put us in front before Micah Evans grabbed the 3rd.

Bromley 2-0 Gateshead

It looked as if we would drop 2 points in this game until 2 late strikes got us the win. Ryan Dolby opened the scoring on 85 minutes before Yann Ekra scored after 89 to seal the win.

Newport County 3-2 Bromley

Finally our unbeaten run came to an end and it really shouldn't have. Simon Dunne's header and a goal from Mesca gave us a 2 nil lead and we were looking comfortable. Daryl Knights got 1 back before Jon Taylor equalised. Danny Rose completed the comeback win to send us to defeat.

That meant going into the final game Crawley were 3rd 1 point ahead of Torquay who were 1 point ahead of us who were 1 point ahead of Cambridge.

Last day fixtures:

Bromley Vs Grimsby

Crawley Vs Wrexham

Hayes & Yeading Vs Torquay

Kidderminster Vs Cambridge Utd

Bromley 3-1 Grimsby

A fantastic last day game on a day of high drama. Crawley got off to a terrible start 1 down after 2 minutes. They were only behind for 1 minute though. 7 minutes later and they were back behind. After 11 minutes we were the side missing the playoffs when Cambridge went 1 up. It was another short lived lead though and Kidderminster quickly equalised. Crawley then turned their game around and they found themselves 3-2 up. In the 2nd half Torquay opened the scoring and Cambridge also went back in front to leave us as the only side not winning. Suddenly though things started to turn first Hayes levelled then Wrexham equalised and then Hope Akpan scored for us to suddenly put us up to 3rd in the table.

Our lead lasted just 8 minutes though and from 3rd we were down to 6th. We were given encouragement though when Crawley went behind 4-3. Then with 10 minutes to go the fans at Hayes Lane started to celebrate as news came through that Kidderminster had equalised and we were back in the playoff places. We had to win to make sure though and in the 87th minute young winger Ryan Dolby stroked home a shot to put us back in front. 2 minutes later and the nerves were settled as Dolby struck again. The rest of the games stayed the same and we grabbed an astonishing 3rd place.

Review:

Amazing way to end the season 3 out of 3 at home was enough to see us not just grab a playoff spot but get 3rd in the table. We now face Crawley in the play off semi finals.

2011/12 Play Off Final/Season Review

Grimsby Vs Bromley

Without question the biggest game in the club's history a fantastic achievement to get this far but with 38,000 people and a trip to Wembley the season isn't over. We knew this would be a difficult game but having beaten Grimsby on the last day of the season we felt like we could really win.

GrimsbyvBromleyInformation_Overview.png

Season Review:

Ultimately it was not to be in truth Grimsby were better and probably deserved to win by more. We kept pushing forward though and twice got back into the game. Making the play offs was a fantastic achievement given the financial status of the club compared to those around us and of course given we were a newly promoted side.

2011/12 squad

We had a massive turnover of players last summer and with my contract up I now have to wonder what we can do. Can I get in more quality and improve us and take us up. The financial situation at the club is getting worse; there is no money to upgrade the facilities and we have a decaying stadium that is only about 20% full for most games.

2012 Summer Update

With my contract running out and not really knowing what I can do to take us to the next level I decided to let it run out and move on. Fortunately after just over a week a new opportunity arose and I was offered the mangers role at Serie C1/A side Bassano Virtus. I signed a 1 year deal worth £1,000 a week; this is a slight step up in stature but a decent move up in terms of where I want to go. Now managing in the 3rd tier of a country with a fully professional side.

Unfortunately the finances and structure of the club were not as good as I hoped. The wage bill was way over budget and the team was over £1m in the red. The youth team had about 40 players in nearly all of whom were awful. I had a massive clearout to start getting rid of all youth players whose potential or current ability was less than 1 star. That meant we were suddenly down to about 8 players and the wage bill was immediately under the budget. That allowed us to bring in some unattached players on free transfers in order to give the first team some quality.

2012/13 Squad

Board Expectation: Avoid Relegation

Media Prediction: 12th

2 years ago Bassano finished 12th last year they finished 10th. Looking at the players that have left compared to the ones I was able to bring into the club I’d be disappointed if we didn’t improve and at least finished in the top half of the table. The playoffs could even be a possibility if we start well and get some momentum behind us.

2012/13 Pre Season

Pre Season went pretty well and we are looking forward to the challenge of the season. I’m confident this team has a real chance of finishing in the top half of the table and maybe even better.

2012/13 August/September Round Up

Bassano 2-0 Pro Patria (Serie C Cup Group Stage)

A good start to my managerial reign and a certainly a good start to the Serie C Cup. Emanuele Berrettoni and Romano Tozzi Borsoi grabbed the goals in the 33rd and 55th minutes.

Sacilese 0-4 Bassano (Serie C Cup Group Stage)

We took apart lower division side Sacilese with ease in my first away game in charge. Simone Iocolano a Davide Bardi own goal and a Gianluca Capriari goal gave us a 3 goal advantage at the break. Defender Michele Pellizzer's header made it 4 late on.

Bassano 1-0 Ravenna

A perfect start to our first Serie C1 game as we despatched Ravenna late on thanks to Simone Iocolana's 92nd minute goal.

Bassano 2-1 Mezzocorona (Serie C Cup Group Stage)

3 wins from 3 in the Serie C cup saw us progress to the first round with a game to spare. Raffaelle Baido's 35th minute penalty put us in front against lower division side Mezzocorona. Lauro Florean did level but Saverio Guarinello pus us back in front and gave us the win.

Spal 0-0 Bassano

Our 100% record finally went with a spirited draw at Spal.

Bassano 2-1 Cremonese

5 wins from 6 now after this good win over Cremonese. Romano Tozzi Borsoi put us in front before Maties Miramantes levelled. We were not to be denied though and Sandro Porchia's late header gave us all 3 points.

Lecco 3-0 Bassano (Serie C Cup Group Stage)

With us already in the first round we played a reserve side against Lecco and were heavily punished. When Angelo Corsi and Roberto Grimaudo both scored within the first 25 minutes it looked like a really heavy defeat could be on the cards. We managed to avoid being completed destroyed though and only Matteo Mandarlini was able to score in the 2nd half.

Serie C Group A Table

Rodengo 1-1 Bassano

A slightly dissapointing draw at Rodengo who came into the game without a point. Facundo Borvin gave the hosts the lead before Romano Tozzi Borsoi rescued a point.

Lecco 2-1 Bassano

A week and a half after a reserve team was taken apart by Lecco we sent the first team out to see if they could do any better. They could unfortunately not good enough to get us a point. 2 Giammarco Corsini penalties put us up against it and although Romano tozzi Borsoi did pull 1 back we were unable to find an equaliser.

Bassano 3-1 Monza

After 2 defeats in our last 3 games we got back to winning ways against Monza. Massimiliano Ammendola gave us the perfect start after just 2 minutes. Manuel Berreti leveleed just 6 minutes later though. Stefano Marchetti deflected the ball into his own net after 73 and Mateos then finished the game off in the 93rd minute.

Review:

A decent start not spectacular but solid enough. If we finish here i'll be happy; it was good to progress in the Serie C Cup especially with 1 game to go. The division looks like it might be quite tight there doesn't seem to be a big difference between those sides at the top and those at the bottom.

2012/13 October Round Up

Portosummaga 2-1 Bassano

Dissapointing defeat that saw us slip out of a playoff place. Julian Di Cosmo's brace either side of Matteo Caciagli's strike was enough to beat us.

Bassano 2-2 (4-2 on pens) Allesandria (Serie C Cup 1st Round)

An exciting cup tie was ended with a penalty shootout victory that saw us progress to round 2. Alberto Tenconi put the visitors ahead through of course a penalty. Emanuele Berettoni levelled but parity lasted just 2 minutes as David lopez scored. Daniele Niada forced extra time with his 79th minute goal but there was no goal by either side in the additional 30 minutes. Eventually after 2 Allesandria misses it all came down to Niada and he scored to send us through.

Bassano 1-1 Pro Patria

We really should have won this game Romano Tozzi Borsoi gave us the lead and despite creating chances we were unable to double our advantage. Ultimately we were punished as 5 minutes from time Rafael equalised.

Spezia 3-0 Bassano

Poor performance and we were rightly punished by Spezia. Emanuele Marzocchi put us behind after just 9 minutes and Juri Toppan and Conrado Colombo scored in the 2nd half to complete the victory.

Bassano 4-3 Salernitana

This was an extraordinary game that saw us snatch 3 points when it looked like we would end up with 1. Damian Luna scored to leave us trailing before Emanuele Berettoni equalised. Simone Iocolano then put us in front but that lead lasted less than 60 seconds as Luna levelled. Jaroslav Sedivec put the visitors back in front before Iocolano scored again and then in the 3rd minute of injury time Matteo Caciagli drilled home to give us the win.

Alto Adige 2-1 Bassano Serie C Cup 2nd Round

We exited the Serie C cup with a defeat at Alto Adige. Derry Nazori was the hosts hero as he scored both their goals. In between Romano Tozzi Borsoi had got us level but this was not going to be our year.

Review:

A frustrating month all in all. Only 1 league win all month plus we crashed out of the Serie C cup. Losing both Serie C away games also didn't help our cause.

2012/13 November Round Up

Pavia 1-2 Bassano

We ended our poor recent away form with a good win at Pavia. Daniele Niada scored the opener before Giampietro Perrulli equalised. Sandro Porchia's 83rd minute penalty gave us a valuable victory.

Bassano 4-2 Verona

An amazing comeback saw us somehow win this game. Trailing 2 nil at the break thanks to goals from Jurgen Prutsch and Raffaele Alcibiade we were up against it. Cristian Longobardi's goal after 73 minutes though gave us hope. 5 minutes later and we were level thanks to winger Gianluca Caprari. Longobardi grabbed his 2nd a minute from the end and then Raffaele Baido completed the comeback a minute into injury time.

Sambonifacese 0-1 Bassano

We made it 3 wins in 3 with this victory at the strugglers. Cosimo Ceni Tozzi's own goal was enough to give us the win.

Bassano 2-2 Varese

Somehow we managed to throw away a 2 goal lead in this game. Shadi Ghoshah gave us an early lead and Dario Venitucci's penalty put us in control. Matteo Momente scored a penalty for the visitors and then he added his 2nd to grab Varese a point.

Review:

After a poor October we grabbed 3 wins and a draw from November to move us back up the table. Winning 2 from 2 away from home was especially satisfying.

2012/13 December Round Up

Bassano 6-1 Alessandria

We started December on fire as we ran riot destroying Alessandria. 2 Raffaele Baido goals and a Matteo Caciagli put us firmly in control at the break. Andre Cuneaz did pull 1 back but we quickly took control again with Daniele Niada scoring before Caciagli grabbed 2 more to complete the win and seal his hat trick.

Como 3-0 Bassano

We went from 1 extreme to the other as we taken apart by Como. Robert Maah scored the opener whilst Daniel Wolf hit the 2nd. Wolf grabbed his 2nd and Como's 3rd in the 92nd minute.

Alto Adige 1-1 Bassano

We avoided defeat against Adige put were unable to hang onto the lead given to us by Raffaele Baido. Andrea Scherneth equalised and thats how it stayed.

Ravenna 3-0 Bassano

Our 2nd heavy defeat of the month was not a good way to end the year. Salvatore Guarina and Andrea Mengani put the hosts 2 up at the break. Stefano Scappini added a 3rd after the break to finish us off.

Review:

Woeful month. It started out fantastic but the performances at Como and Ravenna were pathetic. With 18 games gone and 16 to go we are not to far from where I expected us to be so a decent first half of the season. We are going to have to try and get in some recruits though if we want to push on and grab that play off place.

2012/13 January/February Round Up

Bassano 2-1 Spal

A great start to the year as Massimiliano Ammendola put us a goal up after just 5 minutes.Raffaele Baido grabbed a 2nd in the 19th Minute to double our lead. Although Guiseppe Pisano did pull 1 back we started the year off with a victory.

Cremonese 2-0 Bassano

A trip to 2nd placed Cremonese was never going to be easy and sure enough it turned out that way as we stumbled to defeat. Carlo Gervasani put the hosts in front just before the break and Cristian Bertani's 2nd half goal was enough to seal the win.

Bassano 2-1 Rodengo

A late comeback saw us grab all 3 points from this match. Xabier Ezcurra gave Rodengo the lead before sub Cristian Longobardi equalised in the 75th minute. Longobardi then turned provider as he set up Emanuele Barrettoni for the 92nd minute winner.

Bassano 4-0 Lecco

An Emanuele Berrettoni hat trick helped us demolish Lecco. His goals in the 29th, 83rd and then a 91st minute penalty along with a Massimiliano Ammendola goal were more than enough to see us run out comprehensive winners.

Monza 1-3 Bassano

Emanuele Berrettoni kept up his fantastic form as he made it 6 in 3 games with a brace in this match. It was Raffaele Baido who had given us the lead before Berrettoni's 1st. Andrea Marafioti then got 1 back before Berrettoni struck again.

Bassano 1-1 Portosummaga

We maintained our unbeaten home record thanks to a Daniele Niada goal 7 minutes from time in this game. We had looked like we were heading to defeat when Julian Di Cosmo put the visitors in front.

Review:

Great start to the year 4 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat. We are now set up perfectly to push on to the playoffs from here. Massimiliano Ammendola unfortunately picked up a serious injury though and will be out for between 10 and 12 months with ligament damage. We got in a couple of loan signings in January; more to add depth than anything. The finances are slightly better thanks to some cash injections from the board. Next up we have Spezia who are just behind us so that is a massive game.

2012/13 March Round Up

Bassano 2-1 Spezia

This was a really big win for us. It increased the gap on the teams chasing us for the playoffs and gave us some more breathing room. Raffaele Baido and Emanuele Berrettoni's goals sandwiched Spezia's response through Raffaele Longo.

Pro Patria 1-1 Bassano

This felt like 2 dropped points; we led for so much of the game after Daniele Niada's goal unfortunately though a late leveller from Allesandro Lombardi meant we only ended up with a draw.

Salernitana 4-2 Bassano

An horrendous start to this game saw in a hole we were never able to get out of. Maurizio Peccorisi, Andrea Capone and Lorenzo Del Prete all scored in the first 21 minutes to leave us up against it. Emanuele Berrettoni got 1 back before Alessandro Beccia deflected a shot into our net. Miichele Pellizzer's header again gave us hope but we never looked likely to get anything from the match.

Bassano 3-2 Pavia

A 5 goal 1st half was the highlight of this match. Twice we went behind through Giampietro Perilli goals but twice we levelled through Shadi Ghoshah and Raffaele Baido. Then 4 minutes before the interval Simone Iocolano gave us the lead for the first time.

Review:

7 points from 4 games puts us in a really strong position to make the playoffs. 7 points clear of 6th placed Spal with just 6 games remaining. Dissapointing start against Salernitana but apart from that there wasn't to much that went wrong this month.

2012/13 April/May Round Up

Verona 3-2 Bassano

Defending was left at the door as the 2 top scoring teams in the division went at it. Ultimately it was Verona who showed their class and why they are the favourites for promotion. Santiago Vergini put the leaders in front before Emanuele Berrettoni equalised. We thought we might have grabbed all 3 points when Matteo Caciagli put us in front after 73 minutes but our fragile backline couldn't hold on and just 2 minutes later Jurgen Putsch levelled. Giorgos Tofas then added a 3rd for Verona to seal the win.

Bassano 5-1 Sambonifacese

After losing to the top side we rebounded by destroying the bottom side. All 5 of our goals came in the first 35 minutes as we demolished the winless strugglers. Matteo Caciagli a Davide Martolini own goal and 2 from Emauele Berrettoni put us 4 up after just 21 minutes before Caciagli added his 2nd. The 2nd half was a quiet affair with the only goal coming from the visitors Emilio Bonaventura.

Varese 2-2 Bassano

A decent point after Ivan Artipoli was sent off in just the 2nd minute. Matteo Caciagli put us in front before Cristian Melinte and Neto Pereira turned the game around. 5minutes from the end we salvaged a point through Simone Iocolano.

Bassano 1-0 Alto Adige

Before this game I signed a new 1 year deal worth £1,400 per week now it's just a case of seeing which division i'll be managing in next year. Matteo Caciagli grabbed the only goal of the game with a 25 yard free kick after 18 minutes.

Bassano 2-1 Como

We went into this game knowing a win would seal a play off place and thats exactly what we got. Simone Iocolano's strike just before the half hour settled any nerves and when Sandro Porchia heade home number 2 we were on our way. Daniel Wolf did get 1 back but it wasn't enough.

Alessandria 2-1 Bassano

We were missing 8 of our first team squad for this game through injuries and suspensions and it showed. Mario Aristico's double was more than good enough despite a consolation from young winger Luigi De Bellis

Review:

We did what was needed as we sealed our playoff spot with a game to spare. The lack of depth was really exposed in our final game. We now face Salernitana in the playoff semi final the first game is 2 weeks away though so most of the squad should be back for that match. The defense is a definite concern we have not been good enough all season and whatever division we end up in next season we will need to get in some quality and depth during the summer.

2012/13 Playoff Semi Final Round Up

Bassano 2-1 Salernitana

A good victory in the first leg although we really should have won by more. Spal beat Ravenna 3 nil in the other game.

2013playoffsemi1.png

Salernitana 0-3 (1-5 on aggregate) Bassano

3 first half goals saw us demolish Salernitana and book ourselves a spot in the playoff final. In the final we will play Spal who beat Ravenna 2 nil on the night and 5 nil on aggregate.

2012/13 Playoff Final Round Up

Spal 3-3 Bassano (1st Leg)

An astonishing game saw us take the lead after just 18 seconds and cruise to a 3 goal lead. Our defense though again let us down as we capitulated at the back and Spal managed 3 first half goals themselves.

2013playofffinal1.png

Bassano 3-0 (6-3 on aggregate)Spal (2nd Leg)

A sell out at Rino Mercante was there to witness the biggest game in the club's history and they saw us grab 3 late goals to see off Spal and seal promotion to Serie B in fantastic fashion.

2012/13 Season Review

A fantastic season we were always going to have an outside chance of the playoffs and thats exactly what we managed. Winning through and gaining promotion to Serie B is great. Now comes the hard bit our squad needs a big improvement especially at the back where we were awful for most of the year. we had a reasonable if not brilliant cup run as well which has helped our finances a certain degree. We are still in the red though by just over £500K so just how many new players we can bring in remains to be seen.

2013 Summer Round Up

A busy summer has seen a number of players leave the club with a number of free agents joining.

Transfers

Financially the club is now in a worse place thanks to an odd decision to spend £630K on 500 seats. With an average ticket price of £12 that means it will take 105 games to get that money back or roughly 5 seasons. It could have been spent far more wisely on upgrading some of our run down facilities.

Promotion Odds: 500/1

Media Prediction: 22nd

Board Expectation: Try and avoid relegation

Due to the late finish to last season and because of our involvement in the Coppa Italia we only played 2 friendlies a 4 nil win over Castellammare and a 1 nil win over Neapolis Mugnano.

Bassano 3-1 (AET) Salernitana (Coppa Italia 2nd Qualifying Round)

We started our season with a game against our old rivals from Serie C1/A Salernitana. The visitors took the lead when Federico Scappi turned a cross into his own net. Debutant Marco Gaeta got the leveller before last season's player of the year Matteo Caciagli grabbed an extra time double to give us the win.

Ascoli 3-1 Bassano (Coppa Italia 3rd Qualifying Round)

We put up a decent effort in this game against Serie A outfit Ascoli but their quality showed through. Fernando Forestieri but them in front before Niki Zimling doubled the advantage. Simone Iocolano pulled 1 back but Medhi Messaoudi's 3rd put the tie out of reach.

2013/14 Squad

Our aim for this season is pretty simple; survive. With the players we have signed I think we have a chance but it will be difficult.

2013/14 August/September Round Up

Juve Stabia 3-3 Bassano

We started our 1st season in Serie B with a trip to another newly promoted side Juve Stabia and grabbed a point with a good comeback. Vincenzo Pepe put Stabia in front before Marco Cellini doubled the lead. Ibrahima Diouf got 1 back from the spot before Michele Rigione's header saw us draw level. Parity lasted just 4 minutes though as Cellini again struck. Diouf was not done either though and he tucked home a penalty to give us a point.

Bassano 2-1 Grosseto

We started life at home in Serie B with a solid win over Grosseto. Marco Gaeta opened the scoring before Riccardo Allegretti saw the visitors equalise. Adria Carmona though grabbed the winner 12 minutes from time.

Padova 2-1 Bassano

Our unbeaten start to the season lasted just 2 games as Padova came from behind to beat us. Marco Gaeta's opener was cancelled out by 2 goals either side of half time from Davide Moscardelli.

Bassano 2-2 Novara

2 late goals from the in form Marco Gaeta rescued a point in this match. Mariano Tripodi and Daniele Federici put the visitors in control before Gaeta struck in the 79th and then 81st minute.

Cesena 5-2 Bassano

Our first heavy defeat of the season as we travelled to top of the table Cesena. It had looked like we might get something from the match for a long period of this game. Michele Rigione's header put us in front before Johann Gudmundsson equalised. Cesena were only level though for 5 minutes before Marco Gaeta made it 5 goals in 4 games. Rolando Bianchi took over in the 2nd half though scoring after 66, 72, 85 and then 89 minutes to see the hosts extend their lead at the summit.

Bassano 3-1 Verona

We bounced back from defeat in the perfect fashion comfortably beating Verona. Winger Adria Carmona was the star scoring 2 and creating the other for Marco Gaeta. Jeremias Caggiano's lone goal for Verona was merely a consolation.

Review:

Good first month 8 points from 6 games is exactly the kind of ratio of points we are going to need to stay up. 1 point from the 3 away games shows though our home form will be crucial if we are to have any chance.

2013/14 October Round Up

Sassuolo 0-3 Bassano

A great start to October as we crush Sassuolo. Centre Back Riccardo Brosco's header and a Douglao own goal gave us a decent lead at the break and 3 minutes into the 2nd half we finished the game off with a Marco Gaeta goal.

Bassano 2-1 Livorno

Another good win gives us more breathing room over those teams at the bottom of the table. Dario Venitucci opened the scoring after 7 minutes and that lead lasted until the 59th minute when Luca Beligheri levelled. Emanuele Berrettoni 15 minutes from time though gave us all 3 points.

Benevento 0-1 Bassano

A 2nd Riccardo Brosco goal of the month was all that was needed in this one.

Bassano 1-3 Siena

Our first game live on tv in front of our biggest crowd of the season turned out to be a major dissapointment. We were 3 down by the hour mark and the majority of fans had already left the stadium by the time Marco Gaeta scored in the 88th minute.

Bassano 1-1 Frosinone

This was not a great game for 90 minutes the final 4 minutes however were breathtaking. With a dull goalless draw looking ominous no one could have seen what was about to happen. First sub Daniel Bessa fired home a cracking freekick from 25 yards to put us in front. We were in front for just 2 minutes though as Fabio Catacchini levelled. More drama was to follow though as 2 minutes after that Catacchini missed a penalty and the game ended in a draw.

Review:

Fantastic month 10 points from 5 games including 2 away wins is a great return. The Siena game was obviously a dissapointment on tv for the first time we really let ourselves down with the performance that we put out.

2013/14 November Round Up

AlbinoLeffe 4-1 Bassano

After a good October we were sent crashing back to reality after this heavy defeat. Simon Laner grabbed a hat trick whilst the unfortunate Antonio Donnarumma saw a shot hit the post then go in off his back. Adria Carmona got a late consolation.

Bassano 1-1 Crotone

A fustrating draw against bottom of the table Crotone. Marco Gaeta put us in front before Ciro Ginesta levelled. Despite then creating a host of chances we were unable to find a 2nd and winning goal.

Pescara 2-1 Bassano

3 defeats in 5 games now and our good form has definitely turned bad. Allesandro Cordoro and Marco Marcosu put the hosts 2 up at the break and although Marco Gaeta did get 1 back we never really threatened to grab an equaliser.

Bassano 1-1 Piacenza

Another frustrating draw this time to the team 1 off the bottom. It could have been worse though had Odibe's opener not been cancelled out 4 minutes from time by sub Luca Ferrera.

Bassano 1-0 Modena

Our first win in 6 games and it was much needed. Marco Gaeta (who else?) grabbed the only goal; what a signing he is turning out to be.

Chievo 4-0 Bassano

If we thought our bad run was over we were wrong as Chievo smashed us off the pitch. Luan and Petter Andersson scored in the first half and the lead was doubled in the 2nd through Pedro and Antimo Iunco.

Review:

5 points from 6 games is not good enough; that is relegation form. Including the back end of October we now have 1 win in 8 games we have to improve otherwise we continue to slide down the table and soon enough we will be in trouble.
