woolfc
Alright everyone, apologies for the lack of posts for this season, had some 'off the field problems' lol. Anyway heres my results so far of the season. August 08 (H) LOST 3 - 1 to Man City (H) WON 4 - 1 against Leicster (A) LOST 3 - 1 to Chelsea (A) DREW 2 - 2 against Preston (H) WON 3 - 2 against Blackburn Septmeber 08 (A) WON 3 - 1 against Newcastle (H) WON 5 - 0 against Otelul (EURO CUP QUALS 1ST LEG) (H) LOST 1 - 0 to Everton (H) WON 4 - 2 against Blackburn (LEAGUE CUP ROUND 3) (A) LOST 1 - 0 to Man Utd October 08 (A) WON 1 - 0 against Otelulu (EURO CUP QUALS 2ND LEFG) (A) LOST 3 - 0 to Arsenal (H) DREW 1 - 1 against Bolton (H) WON 3 - 0 against Coventry (A) WON 3 - 2 against Bristol City (LEAGUE CUP ROUND 4) November 08 (A) WON 3 - 0 against Fulham (H) WON 3 - 1 against Fenerbache (EURO CUP GROUP B) (H) DREW 0 - 0 against Aston Villa (H) WON 3 - 1 against West Ham (A) LOST 2 - 1 to Real Betis (EURO CUP GROUP B) (A) DREW 2 - 2 against Reading December 08 (H) DREW 2 - 2 against Tolouse (EURO CUP GROUP B) (A) LOST 3 - 1 to Newcastle (LEAGUE CUP Q FINAL) (H) WON 1 - 0 against Wigan (H) LOST 1 - 0 to Liverpool (A) WON 2 - 1 against AZ Alkmaar (EURO CUP GROUP B) (A) LOST 2 - 1 to Tottenham (H) LOST 3 - 2 to Man City January 09 (A) WON 3 - 1 against Norwich (FA CUP ROUND 3) (A) WON 2 - 0 against Leicster (H) LOST 4 - 2 to Chelsea (A) WON 2 - 1 against Derby (H) WON 3 - 0 against Sheff Wed (FA CUP ROUND 4) (A) DREW 3 - 3 against Blackburn (H) WON 4 - 0 against Preston TRANSFER OUT - Steven Taylor (12m) to Liverpool TRANSFERS IN - Michael Owen (7.5m) from Newcastle, Zat Knight (3.6m) from Aston Villa Roundup Basically a poor domestic season in the league so far leaves me 8th, I think in a 7 team battle for UEFA Cup football, the board have constantly stated their dissapointment at our league form, so much so my job was at one point insecure, however it seems to be more stable (for now). Domestic Cups have exceeded expectations and the board are pleased, (albeit I have a 6th round tie against Arsenal). But in the UEFA Cup we have been somewhat of a suprise package, winning our tricky group, and with a 1 - 1 draw away at Napoli, we have a great chance of progressing through. The loss of inspirational vice-captain Steven Taylor has seemed to be compensated with the arrival of Zat Knight, and the much needed big name signing of Micheal Owen has seemed to kick start what was turning out to be a stagnated season, lets hope we pick things up in the last few months!!!!! woolfc
Roundup for the last few months of the season. March 09 (H) Drew 4 - 4 with Man Utd (A) Drew 2 - 2 with Bolton (A) Won 5 - 0 against Coventry April 09 (H) Won 4 - 1 against Real Betis (UEFA Cup Quarter Final 1st Leg) (N) Won 3 - 0 against Liverpool (FA Cup Semi Final) (A) Lost 2 - 1 to Real Betis (UEFA Cup Quarter Final 2nd Leg) (A) Drew 0 - 0 with Aston Villa (A) Drew 1 - 1 with West Ham (H) Won 2 - 0 against Reading (A) Lost 3 - 1 to Manchester City (UEFA Cup Semi Final 1st Leg) May 09 (A) Lost 2 - 1 to Liverpool (H) Won 1 - 0 against Manchester City (UEFA Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg) (H) Won 4 - 0 against Spurs (H) Won 2 - 0 against Fulham (A) Drew 3 - 3 with Wigan (N) Won 2 - 1 against Bolton (FA CUP FINAL) Ended the season on a high with a great FA Cup win becoming the first member of our clan to win silverware. The dissapointment of losing to Man City was long gone and thanks to a solid finish a second consecutive 6th place finish in the Prem was achieved. Also managed to tie Defoe, Makoun and Van Der Vaart down on new long term contracts ensuring that next season we can strive to challenge for a top 4 finish and more silverware. Lost season to Chelsea by 2 points in the end and lost Euro Cup final to a Rooney goal in the 120th minute! Wonderful season in the end tho! Out did all of my expectations! Nihat had a sensational season with his goal scoring but a lot of other players were also sensational Pereira as a young back up striker on made about 11 starts and about 20 sub appearences and scored 19 goals.
