Razzler
Used to be 2 yellows in groups and 1 game ban but IIRC they changed that to 3 yellow cards until last 16 and then wiped for 1/4 finals. Basically, FIFA don't want good players missing the Semis and Finals. Is that the way it is this tournament, I am amazed it's not been mentioned and mentioned and mentioned. Basically, you have 2 yellows and don't get booked in the last 16 it's all cleared? Is it 3 yellows or 2 though?
Jongi
I’ve always thought they change this every tournament but it just occurred to me that it may be that the Euos and WC are different.
Razzler
Which one is it though, 2 yellows in group stages? I am sure the World Cup changed that when they realised their stupid 'directives' mean there are too many yellow. Instead of ref'ing more sensibly and allowing refs to use their brain why not make it 3 yellows before a ban! Not 100% what it is atm, usually commentators mention it at any booking but not heard anything and too lazy to look it up
FrazT
AFAIK- 2 yellows in games up to and including the last 16 matches, mean you miss the next match. At last 8 stage, the slate is wiped clean
Razzler
Ah, very likely someone will get suspended then, we have Gerrard on a yellow already. Brutal getting booked in that last 16 match and missing the 1/4s, it now means you need a booking in the 1/4s and semis to miss the final thus making it difficult for the 'best' players to miss the final
FrazT
For England, Gerrard, Carragher and Milner are already on one booking
Razzler
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/20/fifa-rules-world-cup-2010 FIFA changed the rules, cards only wiped out after 1/4 finals, could make things interesting, I take it's still only 2 yellows too and not 3 so basically you'd need a red in the semi to miss the final. Good 'ol FIFA, don't want someone missing their final
