mr_whitey Posted April 1, 2008 Share Posted April 1, 2008 I have just started a game as Villarreal manager on patch 8.02. Looking at the core of the squad it seams to be ok. Defence is not too strong and forward position lacks depth but midfield is excellent. I think as long as you can keep the top players fit a top 6 finish should be possible. I have signed Jefferson Farfan not only to give me more options on the wing but to give backup/challenge to the 4 stirkers at the club, Tomasson is getting on a bit and im not sure that Franco is good enough. I think the key to the 1st season lies in defence, i have not got much cover for CB and FB this season and injurys to the starters may mean we stuggle against the bigger teams. But we let in far to many 51 Spanish Cup Knocked out on the Semis by Getafe UEFA Cup Final Good performance in the final but overall superb, Knocking out Sevilla, A.Madrid on the way Awards Top Goalscorer 1st - Giuseppe Rossi - 36 Goals 2nd - Samuel Eto'o - 31 Goals 3rd - Nihat - 26 Goals Manager Of The Year 1st - Me Under 21 Player Of The Year 1st - Giuseppe Rossi Team Of The Year Nihat, Rossi, Pique all included Manager's Player Of The Year 1st. Giuseppe Rossi - What a player, 50 goals this season is fb. Soon to be a Italy regular 2nd. Nihat - 2nd part of the deadilest strikeforce in the league, 44 goals in the season including a few hat-tricks 3rd. Then I make lots of movement in the transfer window. I bought : Eros Corradini 1.2 (young and talented GK) M. Amelia 4 (splendid fix for my defence) H. Saivet 5 Juan Manuel Torres 5 (a really good DM. Aggressive, high workrate and determination) Daniele Vataggiato 3.6 Gerard Pique 9 and secured carlos vela for next season for 20 mil. Great season by the way Jonah Mavuba isn't as good on FM08 compared to 07 and he is never going to get ahead of Diarra who is ffb. Vucinic is playing consintly now ahead of Nihat who just isn't performing. I downloaded a Spanish background megapack from sortitoutsi.
