Tocqueville
I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to researching information for the lower leagues that some may wish to add with the new Competitions Editor. The biggest challenge is how to accomodate lower leagues with the existing "ability" system. It would, of course, be silly to have teams full of players with "1s" as attributes. Therefore, if you are knowledgable about the clubs in these leagues, your help would be much appreciated! I am going to construct a website in which people can add player information to an online database. From this, once the game is released, editors will be able to use this open source database in order to build the teams. For now the main priority is to get lists of the team 'rosters' (sorry to sound so American), and from there attributes can be decided. MachinegunHead
I actually did a little bit of poking around the FM09 database yesterday and made the following thread: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=144234 in the main forum. I've noticed that you have only listed Level 7 and 8 in the leagues you wish to add. I guess this is a fair starting point, but the infrastructure already exists in the game if we wanted to add the 9th level as well. I'm getting ahead of myself though. Things should progress one tier at a time, otherwise they'd never be done right. Also, Tier 7 is easier! edit: I'll go ahead and do a few team's squads now. MachinegunHead
Note: I added 'S' for staff, just because the information was right there, so I thought I might as well throw it down. foxesman
Does anyone know any details as to what the capabilities of the editor will be? Key questions for me are: How many levels will it be possible to create? Eg, time permitting, will the hardcore player be able to go all the way down to the lowest level in English football - level 24 - or will he have to stop being so obsessive at level 10 or so? How complex will created competitions be able to be? For example will it be possible to programme complex relegation/promotion rules, play-offs, suspension rules, player registration regs, etc? Will it be possible to programme future restructuring of leagues? Eg, the Northern Premier, due to the folding of Newcastle Blue Star, is currently a 21-team league, but is normally 22 teams. Will it be possible to change this to a 22-team league from the second season of the game?
Tocqueville
Thanks for helping out with the team lists MachinegunHead; that's great. I've just read your other topic. It's interesting to see how easy the actual league-adding process will be with the new editor due to the already existing framework. I guess, therefore, that the priority has to be assigned to researching the players of each squad since SI has only included a few real players for these teams. So for the sake of playability, it is necessary to give these teams their actual players. This is why we shouldn't rush and consider any levels below level 8 at this moment in time because although we could activate those leagues, they would be useless without non-generated players - but yes, it is the goal, I suppose. One step at a time would seem to be the best approach. How many levels will it be possible to create? Eg, time permitting, will the hardcore player be able to go all the way down to the lowest level in English football - level 24 - or will he have to stop being so obsessive at level 10 or so? The main constraint on this is the current ability/potential ability configuration which wasn't designed for teams at the lowest levels. Likewise, the league reputation variable (out of 20) can not go below 1, so the inhibitions that editors face are more to do with the actual game coding rather than the editor itself. We'll just have to see what happens...it is all technically possible, after all.

Legionaire
I think this page on wiki should give you all the informations you need http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_football_league_system You get league structure, team list and official website
Tocqueville
Thanks acidmonkey (y). I think this page on wiki should give you all the informations you needhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English..._league_system You get league structure, team list and official website The problem with Wikipedia is that alot of the team lists are not updated (e.g 2008-9 season players). Moreover, I think most of the lists on there exclude information pertaining to which side players play on. Hence why I think it would be better to use the official websites. Thanks for your input though.

Here's a link to an English non-league forum which could be useful http://www.nlpl.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi And there's the site that replaced Tony Kempster's website after he died a few months back http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/ The latter should have lists off all teams for the levels 8,9 & 10 for the new season
Scoham
These are very useful as well- http://www.thepyramid.info/asp/pyramid3.asp http://www.thepyramid.info/sections/N.htm On the second one you can click on a level 9 league and it'll show the leagues below that section, for example all Sussex leagues - http://www.thepyramid.info/sections/Se.htm Level 10 would be possible, and some of the clubs are already in the DB in 'a lower division'. Any lower than that though and you'll have to load a lot of leagues, and there's not much more room for reputation and CA. Level 11 is 40 divisions, almost as much as level 1 to 9 put together (46), probably not worth the effort to go that far down - http://www.thepyramid.info/stats/stats.htm
deano_atfc
Don't forget all the various League cups (I believe the Unibond League has 3 league cups) and county FA cups. I've always wanted to win the Birmingham Senior Cup on FM
