The match engine we're playing so far it's been one of the best of all times, if wasn't for this small problem, i would say that is perfect.

Some people have been commenting about this on the discussion on the general Forum but i didn't see anybody post it on the bugs session

Apparently the total amount of goals in this match engine is a bit high, here are a example (sorry for some portuguese prints).

This is the best defenses on the Brazilian league so far (28 games played)

    image.png.515b84689edd4f433ceb919f02563ed6.png

    Botafogo 17 goals in 28 matches = 0,60 average
    Atletico-MG 21 goals in 28 matches = 0,75 average
    Palmeiras 24 goals in 27matches = 0,88 average
    Cruzeiro 24 goals in 28 matches = 0,85 average
    Bragantino 24 goals in 27 matches = 0,88 average

And this is the stats of my save:

    image.png.67e53ab565c8f7a3cc871c8c683a3650.png

    Flamengo 20 goals in 21 matches = 0,95 average
    Palmeiras 25 goals in 23 matches = 1,08 average
    Cuiabá 28 goals in 23 matches = 1,21 average
    Internacional 32 goals in 22 matches = 1,45 average
    Cruzeiro 33 goals in 22 matches = 1,5 average

Top 5 average in real life: 0,79

Top 5 average in FM: 1,23

An increase of 36%, just on the top 5 of the league.

I would appreciate if SI could look at that and rebalance the ME.

Seems to me that the attacking way more intelligently than the defense

was there a patch already for that? because in my simulation I get quite the opposite effect.

Bundesliga 2.36 goals per match -> previous lowest record for german bundesliga 2.56. https://www.weltfussball.de/statistik/bundesliga/1/

which is very annoying, beacuse the current real bundesliga season is number one in this list -> there is quite a dissonance from reality just from looking at tables

Premier League 2.56 gpm -> also way below average https://www.weltfussball.de/statistik/eng-premier-league/1/

Also is this something you can somehow balance with the editing tools provided? Different leagues have different amount of goals scored - is this the results of club philosophy, managers, league, nation? Can I tune this to my own liking somehow?

    image.png.aed4a18083f492dce951e2eacda9c041.png

23 games into the season and every single side that was in the division last season, has hit at least 80% of total goals scored IRL last season. It's mental.

Really struggling to understand the cause of there being too many goals. Is it goalkeepers simply not being good enough? Shot physics being off? Teams getting too many high xG chances? Is it a moral issue after conceding/scoring? Too many goals from corners?

The issue seems amplified when trying to play defensive, rather than playing offensively. Which shouldn't be the case. Is this a result of defensive formations and low line/low blocks not working? Is it a result of teams just getting far too many shots  peppered away when setting up this way when compared to real life? Or one of the above simply just making it not sustainable?

I think the ME plays fine. It's conversion rates being too high and Goalkeepers being absolutely awful.image.png.8cf82b586aa494208601d1470313d0a2.png

This amount of goals FOR, for each side in the top 6 after 32 games is obscene. It already matches and exceeds for 4 of them compared to last season IRL after 46 games. Even then, the other 2 are within 5, with fourteen games remaining,

Hoping this is sorted for full release.

IRL figures from last season for the Championship.

    image.thumb.png.67807baa720676e961b30fe3b873610b.png

    That's 337 clean sheets across a season.

I have run 3 different simulations on FM to compare this to RL figures.

A: 137 -- Team with the highest: 11 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 23% rate.

B: 111 -- Team with the highest: 13 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 23% rate.

C: 156 -- Team with the highest: 11 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 28% rate.

This means that a team on FM with the most amount of clean sheets... would be around 17/18th IRL.

I have also run this test in: Bundesliga, MLS, La Liga, Eredivise, Poland all divisions, Croatia all divisions with similar results.

The amount of goals scored is NOT LEAGUE SPECIFIC imo. It is an issue across all leagues. It is a conversion/goalkeeping/ME issue (will look to run a test to see average SPG to see if it is an ME behaviour issue, however, looking at the xG tables it is simply conversion/goalkeeping_

IRL below are the amount of goals scored from set pieces (corners, DFK, IDFK)

    308, 298, 270

    FM SIM TESTS: 314, 322, 302.

Set pieces do not seem to be the issue.

The team top of the championship for shot to goal conversion last season IRL wouldn't even be 17th in the table on my simulated save

For further context in 21/22 the top team (Fulham) had 10.7%. And Bournemouth in 20/21 has 10.3%.

For further context this is the stats from my current save 32 games in...

    21/22: 8.1%

    20/21: 7.6%

    FM 24 SIMULATIONS

    SEASON 1: 14.37

    SEASON 2:  13.91

    SEASON 3: 15.01

    SEASON 2: 9.25

    SEASON 3: 9.58

THIS TEST HAS BEEN RUN ACROSS MULTIPLE NATIONS AND LEAGUES, ALL WITH EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH CONVERSION RATES. THIS IS A UNIVERSAL, NOT LEAGUE SPECIFIC ISSUE.

    @Kyle Brown

Latest and most complete test yet. Will update the below as soon as the ''full' release occurs tomorrow and testing has been done to allow us to see if there have been any changes.

Please note for FM24 some teams had a conversion rate of up to 21% (so 1 in 5 of their shots goes in the back of the net) come the end of the season!

Hi, more goals are only in fully detailed leagues right (a little more than IRL, maybe 10-12%)? Not fully detailed leagues don't have more goals than IRL (in my save).

2 official games in the 1st season and alrdy have a 9-0 win v Betis. I was alrdy 7-0 up in minute 37, thats just too much. Im wondering what it is, too good finishing? AI GK not that good or?

    (Update 17-11 next 3 games were 5-1, 3-0 and elClasico won 3-4), plus a 2-4 win v Shakhtar and 4-0 v Osasuna.

PKM added. And gonna see if this happens more often. It seems a thing in this FM.

I'm seeing a lot of goals in my Millwall save as well.

In the 2023/2024 season, there were an average 3.11 goals per match in the Championship. Norwich scored 109 goals and conceded 69. Seven teams scored at least 80 goals, and six teams conceded at least 80.

    Selected results from that season:

    • Norwich 8-2 Ipswich (Shots on target: 14-3)
    • Sunderland 5-5 QPR (Shots on target: 9-6)
    • Bristol City 3-6 Blackburn (Shots on target: 7-10)
    • QPR 4-4 Stoke (Shots on target: 6-6)

    CFuller_Season1.thumb.png.629da6912fe421f27bae73737af918cb.png

I'm now about 34 matches into the 2024/2025 season, and the average is just under 3.10 goals per match. Sheffield United have scored 94 goals in 34 matches and are on course to break the league record (122) that has stood since 1927.

I've also seen the following scorelines this season:

    • Sheffield United 7-3 Plymouth (Shots on target: 11-3)
    • Sheffield United 9-0 Cardiff (Shots on target: 17-0)
    • Norwich 6-3 Sunderland (Shots on target: 19-5)
    • Sunderland 6-3 Sheffield Wednesday (Shots on target: 15-4)
    • Ipswich 5-4 Fulham (Shots on target: 6-6)
    • Sunderland 6-2 Birmingham (Shots on target: 15-4)
