Skidmore is known for his love of the "Total Football" Philosophy closely associated with PSV's rivals Ajax of Amsterdam. It is thought Skidmore will look to introduce a brand of attacking football to the Phillips Stadion. In a recent interview in World Soccer magazine Skidmore picked out the following amongst his influences (Valeriy Lobanovskyi, Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff, Arrigo Saachi, Marcello Bielsa. Pep Guardiola and Jorge Sampaoli amongst others. The PSV board will meet with Skidmore tomorrow to discuss their expectations for the forth coming season. It is rumoured that the new manager as identified a number of transfer targets. The month ended with a 3-1 away win at Grasshoppers in the Champions League Qualifier 1st Leg. Transfers No further players left since the last update, however we signed Argentine Midfielder Bruno Zuculini from Racing Club for £3.4m and 16 year old Defender Beau Vilters from VVV for 150k Upcoming Fixtures August 2013 We have 5 games coming up in August as we kick off our Eredivisie campaign along with the 2nd leg at home to Grasshoppers in the Champions League Qualifier. mydreamteam Posted July 1, 2014 Author Share Posted July 1, 2014 September 2013 Update After a somewhat unconvincing start to the season, September turned out to be a very good month for us winning all our games and conceding just 1 goal. In August we were simply just conceding goals a plenty after dominating games so I decided to tweek our 4-2-3-1 tactic by playing with 2 defensive midfielders instead of our usual 2 central midfield pivots. This turned out to be a good move and hopefully we can kick on. Michy Batshuayi scored and made a winning return against his former club in the Europa League . Player Of The Month League Table October Fixtures 6 games coming up in October starting with an away trip to Wales in the Europa League and a big league clash in Eindoven against our rivals Ajax. We also beat table toppers and our rivals Ajax at home. The win at the end of the month in the Dutch Cup was our 13th straight win in all competitions. The game against FC Utrecht we turned out a terrible first half performance going in 2 down at the break, after a dressing down at half time we dominated the 2nd half and turned the tie with 3 second half goals. We were lucky to come away from the FC Gronigen game with a win after another below par performance. mydreamteam Posted July 12, 2014 Author Share Posted July 12, 2014 PSV Eindoven January 2014 Update The team have responded well to the Feyenoord defeat at the end of last month up first were RKC away and a return from injury for Michy Batshuayi who came back witha bang netting both goals in a 2-0 win. Our next fixture against Zwolle was a one sided affair with us running out 5-0 winners. We then hit 6 against ADO Den Haag Batshuayi scoring 4 in a 6-2 home win. We rounded the month off with a trip to play Telstar in the qtr final of the Dutch Cup, Karim Rekik scored the only goal of the game in which we fielded a team of fringe players. League Table Top Goalscorers January Transfer Window I decided to bring in utility player Marcelo Diaz from FC Basel for £4.8m. I think the Chilean International will add quality and experience to the club. We managed to finish the month with a win and 2 draws in the league to retain top spot. We also reached the Dutch Cup Final after Michy Batshuayi secured a 1-0 win against Heerenveen. mydreamteam Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share Posted July 26, 2014 PSV Eindoven Update April / May 2014 Season Review A fantastic end of season by the squad as we won the Title and Dutch Cup in style. The month kicked off with a 3-0 win at Cambuur and followed on by beatin NAC Breda 5-1 at home with Memphis Depay netting 3 meaning we went into the home game against 3rd placed Heerenveen needing a point to win the title. I could not have asked for a better performance as we crushed them 5-0 with an outstanding display of attacking football. So with the Title secured we went into the Cup Final with confidence against Ajax and raced into a 2-0 lead, however Ajax pulled one back and made it a nervy end in which we managed to hold our nerve to lift The Dutch Cup and complete a fine double. In our last game of the season we put out an experimental side playing with a back 3 but despite some positives we lost 1-0 to Go Ahead Eagles. mydreamteam Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share Posted July 26, 2014 PSV Eindoven Update Pre Season 2014-2015 A new season and raised expectations from the board, they expect us to retain the Eredivise Title and Dutch Cup along with a respectable showing in The Champions League Group Stage. The team jetted off for a pre season training camp in Peru were we focused on fitness. We lined up just 4 pre season games and mixed the team with 1st team players and youth team players. We returned with 4 wins and a good run out for many players. We also had the Super Cup Final to contest against our rivals Ajax which we thrashed 5-1 to pick up our 3rd trophy in short time and set us up for the forth coming season. On the transfer front I am looking at a few targets and hope to wrap up the deals in the coming weeks of the window. A big loss to us in the opening week of the window was Arsenal triggering Narsingh's £30m release clause which we luckily added to his contract back in January, thankfully the board have made the funds available so it gives us chance to add to the squad. We have been very active in the transfer window thanks to the £30m we brought in from the Narsingh deal. I am very pleased with the players we have signed and hope to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League but we got a tough draw wit Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in our group. mydreamteam Posted August 22, 2014 Author Share Posted August 22, 2014 PSV Eindoven Managers Zone 14-15 Jurgen Locadia as put a transfer request in, after speaking to him I have accepted and placed him on the transfer list. It's unfortunate for him that Michy Batshuayi as come straight in to the squad and scored goals at a rapid rate. Duvan Zapata as also provided in backing up Batshuayi when called upon on. I have made enquires about the possible signing of defender Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon to bolster our back line with Kurt Zouma due to return to Chelsea after his loan spell. Memphis Depay as returned to training after being sidelined for most part of the season so far, however the form of Florian Jozefzoon who as replaced Depay as been superb and scored 11 times in 10 starts. On the tactical side I am very pleased with our attacking 4-2-3-1 system. I am using a double pivot with Marcelo Diaz and William Carvalho first choice with Bruno Zuculini and Adrian Rabiot rotating. Ahead of the pivot Denis Praet 1st choice or Adam Maher pulling the strings behind Batshuayi. I am also working on a variation of the tactic that allows me to play 2 up top. The forthcoming games see us go head to head with FC Twente and Feyenoord in the league and Real Madrid in the final group game of the Champions League. We have a chance of qualifying to the knockout stage which would be fantastic for the club. The FC Twente game was a classic with us stealing all 3 points late on thanks to a Duvan Zapata strike. Zapata also got the winner against Feyenoord in there back yard. We had good results against FC Utrecht and ADO Den Haag to round off the year. A 4-0 loss at the hands of Real Madrid was dissapointing in the Champions League with them revenging our 1-0 win at the Phillips Stadion, We did manage to finish 2nd and qualify for the knockout round which is very pleasing. I picked a rotational side against Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Cup 4th rd which backfired as we lost 3-2 in extra time. Jurgen Locadia and Oscar Hiljmark have both departed the club joining Juventus which I hope is a good move for them after struggling to break into our starting line up. In the Champions League knockout round we went down 3-1 at home to Schalke in the first leg giving ourselves a tough task in the return at Marco Van Basten's German side. The board are pleased we met expectations in both winning the league and reaching the group stage of the Champions League of which we managed to reach the last 16 before going out to a last minute goal away at Schalke. mydreamteam Posted August 28, 2014 Author Share Posted August 28, 2014 PSV Eindoven 2015-2016 Pre Season Update Just as I am about to embark on my 3rd pre season in Eindoven I got a job offer interview from Liverpool which I have declined as I am looking forward to the new season at PSV of which I have 3 years left to run on my contract signed at the end of last season. During the pre season I have sold Wijnaldum,Jorgensen and Bremet from the first team squad and released around 20 odd B team and youth players who I feel will not break in to the first team. Coming in to the club so far are the following players who we purchased in the last window and loaned back to there clubs Defender Eric Dier from Sporting Lisbon and Midfielder Youri Tielemans from Anderlecht. I am also pleased that we have Secured the loan signing of Defender Kurt Zouma from Chelsea for a second season. Permanent additions to the squad are WIng Back Serge Aurier from Toulouse £12m Forward John Guidetti from Man City and Midfielder Sergi Roberto from Barelona B for a combined fee of around £1m which I feel is very good value for two players who had been transfer listed by their respective clubs, both have looked good in our pre season games so far. I have also introduced a new tactic of which we have used in our last 2 pre season games and hope to run it along side our 4-2-3-1 which we have used for the last 2 seasons. The tactic on paper looks like a 4-2-1-2-1 I will go in to more detail about our tactics in the next update. The boards expectations are as follows along with my expectations. We retained the Dutch Super Cup with a 1-0 win in extra time against Martin Jols Feyenoord. I have strengthened the squad with two loan signings with a view to a permanent move for both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Stevan Jovetic who have both been transfer listed by Napoli and Manchester City, I have also purchased Dutch midfielder Nathan Ake from Chelsea, John Guidetti from Manchester City, Ivorian Serge Aurier from Toulouse and Sergi Roberto from FC Barcelona. I am hoping to advance from our Champions League Group were we have managed to draw Real Madrid for the second successive season along with Marsielle and Club Brugge.
