"Orta Recens Quam Pura Nites"

(Newly Risen, How Brightly You Shine)

This is a highly fictionalized and ideological creation revolving around the idea that if a separate nation formed as New South Wales, the NSW government has the money to create infrastructure to decentralize NSW from Sydney. In real-life I realize a lot of these places probably couldn’t sustain a top league football side, but give a man his dream. :p

The goal here was not to create a world conquering nation but one similar to Australia that can rise up occasionally and give the big boys a bloody nose.

Game Download http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0ab7e7/n/NSW_5.7.dbc

I was going to try and place it in Asia or Oceania but the game would crash after 4 seasons (or 1 in Asia depending on when I started the NSW season) which means it’s been unrealistically placed in Europe because it’s the only place I can shoe horn a new nation without crashing the game and\or recreating continental and international competitions.

The league consists of 5 active divisions and one in active divisions.

Premier League: 14 Teams, 3 relegated

Super League: 14 Teams, 2 auto promoted 1 play off promotion, 3 relegated

Division 1: 14 Teams, 2 auto promoted 1 play off promotion, 4 relegated

Division 2 A&B: 16 Teams 1 auto promoted 1 play off promotion from A&B, 4 relegated from A&B

Division 3 A-D: 14 Teams 1 auto promoted 1 play off promotion from each league, 2 relegated from each division

Division 4 A-D: 6\7 Teams (Inactive)

8 cups

Waratah Cup (All Teams FA Cup)

Waratah Plate (Teams from Divisions 2-4)

Sydney cup (teams from Sydney)

Northern Rivers Cup (Teams from Hunter\North Coast\New England)

Southern Cup (Teams from Illawarra\South Coast\Southern Tablelands)

Western Cup (Teams from Orana\Far West\Riverina)

NSW Regional Champions Cup (4 team league cup for the previous seasons winners of the Sydney, Northern Rivers, Southern & Western cups to start the new season)

Yes, technically Canberra isn't part of NSW. I reabsorbed the ACT and Jervis Bay back into NSW and moved the Australian capital to Melbourne.

It wouldn't really make much sense to have the Australian Capital in the middle of a now foreign nation. Especially as it only exists because of the Sydney Melbourne rivalry.

Technically, not part of NSW

but i guess you knew that already?

Every regional database has things that are not set perfectly around regional boarders, they sometimes bring clubs in for cultural reasons or historical reasons. I assume the OP has his reasons

I have always thought that New South Wales is a silly name for our state... one of the proposed names when the English were kicking around names was Banksia - I think I'll d/l your update and change the name to Banksia...

New Zealand is a silly name too!

(Yep, off topic post... sorry!)

I think you could avoid the crash if you remade all oceanian competitiins

I thought about that, but that's a lot of effort to go to. The other downside with Oceania, unless you're New Zealand, you only play the other Pacific Island Nations in internationals.

Is that the same reason Ottawa is the capital of Canada instead of Toronto or Calgary :D

Yes, but Canberra was built from scratch. No one goes there unless they're on a school trip, or want to buy pot, porn or politicians. (You used to be able to buy Pyrotechnics also, but no longer)

New Zealand is a silly name, they should give it the Mauri name like the other Pacific Islands have done. Incidentally it was also annexed to NSW way back when. And there are provisions in the Australian Constitution for them to join us. but thats nether here nor there.

As for the New South Wales name. Only real Problem I have with the name is the awkwardness of calling nationals the gender neutral New South Welsh.

Though how awesome does our motto work for a new nation?

My computer is currently in bits across my work area, currently struggling to get the disk read speeds I want

I will be unable to test now until Tuesday night so results not till Wed at earliest, I strongly advise you dont hold the database back for my opinion, I have learnt more from you than you have from me!

I apologise for the situation by that old hard drive basically died on me and had to be replaced and the perfectionist that I am was not contented with the moderatly fast read speed of 200MBs and write of 110 MBs when it should be about 270 and 250 according to the box :)

EDIT: I am going away for the weekend so cannot fix it till Monday night, its not that I am so lame with computers it takes me all weekend to change some BIOS settings and tweak superfetch etc...

I'll be posting something shortly, just waiting for some feed back from some beta testers first.

I am also still toying around with the idea of setting up B teams instead of reserves to play the Regional Leagues. I may set up two files

Nothing wrong with doing two files, I will have three by the end, not counting different release versions. The main Lincs and Humber database, Lincolnshire on its own and database with the teams back in their original leagues but still part of the nation of Lincs and Humber!

I'm still here working away. I wasn't liking the way the regional leagues set up as secondary divisions ended up in divisional history so I've turned them into reserve\U23's leagues (6 over 23's in the match squad)

Created several awards for the Premier&Super Leagues but the 1st through 3rd divisions are awardless.

I have also created some National awards. NSW Footballer of the year, Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder & Striker of the year and am working on getting a 'rising star' award.

So far no crashes that seem game related so after some final tweaks it should be ready for release.

Because I'm a born and bred, dyed in the wool, one eyed, sky blue blooded New South Welshman? ;)

I did plan to do as you suggested, even if they were more basic versions of this NSW file. The only problem I have is it would take rebuilding continent and international competitions unless I stick them all in Europe. Putting NSW in Europe was pretty much a last resort.

I do have some real basic edits where I used the Current Pacific Islands nations instead of reactivating dead nations, but nothing beyond changing up the league structure.

Why didn't you make the other states too? and have the regens eg South Australian/English

Its also not really the point of Regional Databases, they are usually about one specific area taken out of the parent nation and becoming a nation of its own. To do it for all states would be a very different thing to the usual regional databases found on here.
