is this a bug?

man utd bought gilardino at the start of the 09/10 season. his debut he scored, got an assist, and got MoM. and then never played again. he's been in the reserves ever since. two years later he's joining AC milan, whats going on?

I don't think its a bug. I've bought players and only given them a few games in the first team and then put them in the reserves and finally sold them on.

ye but if they had that as a debut you'd at least give them a second game.lol. especially if you'd payed 32mil like utd did.

Chelsea paid 30 odd million for Shevchenko and look how successful that turned out. Some player just dont fit into the way you want to play so you unfortunately sometimes have to get rid of them.

In contrast to the OP Shevva started rubbish at Chelski. Even Mourinho would've played him more if he'd played like Gilardinho above. It is very odd indeed.

It is a bit odd. Have a look in the bugs forum to see if anyone else has noticed the same issue. If not then you may want to post it and let SI look into it.

Just a few thoughts:

Did this Gilardino get injured at all when he played? If he did and someone else played even better than him, then that would explain his exclusion. It would still be slightly odd that he was never given another chance.

Was he bought as back up, and only found himself playing in that match because the guy he was back up to was injured or suspended. Many managers will have favourites regardless of how well an understudy performs. That could result in a new signing never really getting his chance.

Still quite odd that they paid £32 million for him and never gave him a chance though.
