magick beatty
Put simply... You need a lot more RAM than you have. You're laptop will have an expansion bay beneath it (hopefully). Have a look how many RAM slots it has (usually 2). I'd recommend putting two new 1gig sticks in each. Processor and gfx wise you should be OK. trekman
Should just about be ok I think. Why not try downloading the demo and see how it works.
Scott McC
That graphics card may be a bit iffy for 3D (it's below the minimum type and has only 64Mb), but you should hopefully be OK to run in 2D. But yeah, more RAM would be an idea, you'll only be running a few leagues smoothly with 512Mb. EDIT: Of course, trying the demo is the best idea. magick beatty
Nah trekman I wouldn't say he'd be OK, although his laptop will probably will play the game. 512MB of RAM might be the recommendation, but the game will crawl.
lingy
downloading as we speak just bloody well hope it works seems like the demo has a few problems
magick beatty
Heh, though the gfx card was 128mb. Ah well, you'll probably need a new system to run the game to it's full 'potential'.

pelicanstuff
512MB RAM and XP will be fine and should be of an ok speed as long as not too many leagues are loaded. RAM is not the holy grail.
magick beatty
I've tried the demo on a 512mb laptop and trust me it took an age to process. Particularly getting to the match screen. So it played, but I couldn't bare the loading times. I suppose it depends on your opinion though as to how fast it is. Just try the demo and fwiw the demo is pretty much the full game but caped at 6 months, so the full game carries the same problems.
Blackmama
i hate text speak - if you can't write in a decent manner, don't write at all. Nobody is in that much of a hurry......and it makes hy head ache reading that long sentence! Where's the punctuations?

DevonSpurs
Lingy, I set up a similar topic the other nite, got loads of sound advice. Basically u need more ram, my PC was running at 448mb, this is where i got mine sorted: www.crucial.com Run a system scan, order an extra 3gb if you have the spare cash and spare slots - mine cost me in the region of £41, that included p&p and a 48hr guaranteed delivery. The RAM came yesterday, and I installed it no problems at all, and Im not PC literate in anyway, they literally need slotting in and thats it. Get to crucial

crafty bison
Is there any way to check if one has free slots for extra RAM without unscrewing the laptop etc? I know I'll have to do that anyway for installation, but I'd rather not have to do it twice especially without any anti-static gear.
magick beatty
Installing RAM on a laptop is safe as houses (**** phrase I know). Just take your socks off and you'll be fine, no need for anti-static gear. If you don't want to unscrew it more than once then just google your laptop make and see what comes up. pelicanstuff
but the main question is will the actual game work on my pc? well, if you try and identify the exact problem with the demo in the forum I mentioned, it might help. I can't see why it wouldn't work offhand. Btw, 3 gig of ram would be complete overkill for a computer your age, anything over 1.5-2 and you won't be seeing much difference at all. Glyn
Is there any way to check if one has free slots for extra RAM without unscrewing the laptop etc? I know I'll have to do that anyway for installation, but I'd rather not have to do it twice especially without any anti-static gear. I've built and taken apart loads of PCs and never needed any specialist anti-static gear. All you have to do is make sure you've earthed yourself to discharge any static before handling any components. Usually touching the interior frame of a PC is enough to do this. pelicanstuff
there is a massive problem with it a check another forum and everyone on there is complaining about it not working on there But there are a couple of different problems with different reasons. TBH a huge % of the issues I've seen on here have involved people with old or incorrectly installed video drivers. The technical issues section of the bugs forum on here has pretty much everything that can and will go wrong in terms of the game crashing - a useful resource for people having problems. There will also be a patch out tomorrow apparently that will hopefully solve some of these.

pelicanstuff
Now you've scared me, I won't get electrocuted or something will I?! not if you've remembered to unplug it. Earthing yourself is to stop static electricity in your body damaging sensitive components. Really, grabbing a radiator or the kitchen taps or something should work fine. unless I'm very out of date.
