The Carnivorous Badger
Alright, my title was slightly exaggerating my point of view, but would it not be good for certain managers who detest bits like dealing with Agents having somebody to do it for them? Loath as I am to praise EA's fairly woeful Total Club Manager series, there was an option to select the kind of manager you were, ranging from Continental style First-Team Coaches (obviously not the FM definition) to Jack-of-all-Trades style managers. *DISCLAIMER: I enjoy contract negotiations. I am not an FM lightweight, and any such accusations will be met with considerable scorn.* Also, if I am a Manager like Roy Hodgson, whose prowess is on the training pitch, why doesn't FM12 introduce a training feature for managers? That doesn't mean ridiculous micromanagement, but you could choose an area of specialisation at the start, and then count as a coach of your club, perhaps with coaching skill increasing in line with your reputation. edgar555
I think we will see DoF's very soon, judging by Miles comments on the podcast Q&A. As for the training thing thats been asked for a lot too, and I think we will probably see something along those lines soon.
Quads
these are the features (plus extended academies/scouting thingy) that I wanna see in FM12, nothing else. IRL managers usually do not negotiate contracts and sign players directly.
tiago_wakabayashi
I don't see it like a bad thing. I would like to see it. I wanna see it in FM12
La Furia Roja
if there was an option to not have negotiate contracts etc then fine, for me though id hate that. I am sure you have all at some point paid that little bit extra for that player that just might save you from the drop, what if your DOF etc refused and you went down? If this was bought in as a feature, not an option, id say SI would lose 90% of its customers. But the choosing is fine, and DOF's will be in fm12 i am sure of it. The coaching this is a good idea though
Blanchflower1
Chairman mode would be much better.........
trekkie_ram
Chairman mode would be much better......... Many people, including myself would love this. It gets mentioned every year. Of course the game mode won't have any longevity if it is poorly done, and I can understand why many other people would strongly oppose the mode for this reason alone. I'm not sure what it could involve beyond hiring/firing and saying how much wage budget/transfer budget the manager can have, but it wouldn't need much more to appeal to me, maybe being able to pick the players your club buys. Still worthwhile for me, and it would guarentee my purchase of that version.
chopper99
Many people, including myself would love this. It gets mentioned every year. And gets dismissed every year for the simple fact that it would become very boring very quickly. As you've already pointed out, apart from hiring/firing managers and setting wage budgets, there's not a lot to do. So you'd basically set these things and then press continue and do absolutely nothing ele until your manager needs sacking, or at best until the next transfer window when you tell him which players to sign. As a standalone game it wouldn't be worth the development time. As an added feature to FM then it may have some legs, but I can't see SI devoting too much man power to something that is essentially a bonus feature. ElJaffacakeo
I cannot see how a chairman mode would work. It will never be a standalone game, thats certain. As Chopper says it may be an added feature to normal Fm's but at the same time I cannot see ow they could possibly execute that. How would it work? Would you be the manager and the chairman at the same time? Would you own the club like Abramovic or would you be a voted in by a board? I think there is too much to it and for that I wouldnt expect to see it.
omnivore
Goodness I desperately want this. Other text-sims have it like OOTP and many others. I don't really have the patience for micromanaging, I fashion myself as a DoF and this option would be a godsend. I hope it gets implemented as it'd make FM12 a must buy for me, whereas FM11 was the first one I haven't bought in years.
