Maidel
Glandular fever ME (yuppy flu) Both these (and others) produce 'post viral' symptoms that can persist for up to 5 years. No actual viral infection will persist for 6 months (you would be dead after 2-3 weeks) but it is the post viral symptoms that are so deabilitating. Roger federer had glandular fever and he missed about a month with the actual virus and he was totally off his game for about 2-3 months- and hes a hyperfit person. Mike7077
There are plenty of serious viral infections out there that could theoretically lay a player out for six or seven months. Guillain-Barré Syndrome almost ended poor Markus Babbel's career. Apparently he'd already been suffering with the Epstein-Barr virus.
