As expected we have to do pretty well this season. In my first match in the Sao Paolo championship Cristian Viveros broke his ankle (3 months) and my starting AMC Scarpa did something to his hip (3 months too) so we will be without them for the Copa Libertadores group stage :(

Luckily we have a pretty easy group this time which lessens the injury blow a little.

Another quarter final exit on penalties in the Sao Paolo State Championship. I feel absolutely sick with the result as we have been so much better so far.

Bragantino are a pretty dire team that got promoted to Serie A this season :seagull:

Luckily I had already negotiated a one year contract extension earlier in the season, though I'm not sure it will matter if we don't win something.

Got through our Copa Libertadores group fairly easily although we did lose our first match to Junior.

Our reward is a second round tie against Flamengo. Brazil is insanely represented this season with 9 teams in the second round :)

Got offered the Brazil job in July which I turned down due to the exciting young prospects in the Palmeiras squad. This was an awful decision.. long story short I have been sacked!

I have had multiple "points targets" to fulfil from August until my eventual sacking in October. I was getting bids of £40 million for my central defenders Kevin Rosero & Andre Fuba which I turned down. I probably should have accepted at least one of them and invested in a new striker as we stopped scoring completely in September.

I'm still glad that I joined Palmeiras as I got to upgrade my reputation a bit, not sure if I will take another job in South America or make the move to Europe now that I have a chance at decent jobs. It does seem a shame to leave South America behind without winning the Copa Libertadores but if I couldn't do it with Palmeiras then I'm not sure I've got it in me :D

I leave the club in 5th position, I think they are going to bring in their old manager Ze Roberto (sacked by Brazil) so they should easily qualify for the Copa again.

The sad thing is leaving behind some of my great players, here are the best of Palmeiras, maybe I'll meet them again in Europe some day!

And the two best young players, Palmeiras are pretty lucky with the transfer business I did tbf!

All said it's probably about £120-140 million worth of players so at least the club will do well in the future

Now it's time to do the depressing job search :thdn:

What are your thoughts on the ME?

Hi @quee

I have to say I don't enjoy it that much, probably the reason I haven't played much since February. I want to try to create a defensive counter attack tactic though at my next club so I will play a bit and see how it goes. Are you still playing FM19? I did forget to check your updates!

Just started on FM20 with Parma, but the ME is holding me back. Most frustrating things to watch were crossing only finding the shins of opponents and fullbacks getting more offsides than attacking players all the time.

I'm 3 months in, and thinking of restarting one more time, as I think I want to do things differently considering the ME problems.

If I can't find the urge to continue, will finish my FM19 career, at least I was enjoying FM19 despite not being aware of the problems existing  in that ME haha

Haha yes indeed there are some issues which make it not so fun. I might go back to an older FM too and wait for next year's version. Shame as the game itself is definitely improved (I like the new youth development centre & club vision).

Well I got the bug back to play some FM and had to sim for quite awhile to find a decent job opportunity. I got some offers from England but I had my heart set on going back to my usual German stomping ground.

Hertha Berlin came up, and they were struggling in the relegation zone, despite having a decent squad & having qualified for this seasons Champions League. Seemed too good an opportunity to turn down for the time being.

I imagine I will go back to South America at some point to try and win the Copa.

A very poor showing indeed, although with the Champions League having finished I didn't think it would be too difficult to rectify the situation.

samuel_mensah.thumb.jpg.305cd68f977e4e8c751adf1d5c630e60.jpg

Samuel is by far the best player in the squad, in fact he's even been capped by England! Not sure how he ended up in Berlin, perhaps he enjoys Techno nightclubs?

lazar.thumb.jpg.6b31daa9c27d783513ccacead1f95aa9.jpg

We also still have the wonderful Lazar Samardzic at the club, so I have decided to play a 4-2-3-1 formation and hope for the best.

Transfers In

I got given a pretty staggering transfer budget (£80 million) and having learnt by past saves I decided to go on a spending spree.

My goalkeepers were pretty dire so my main priority was to get a decent shot stopper in. I found this lad playing backup goalie at Man City and managed to get him in early as he would be a free transfer in the summer.

1441955294_gaelirakoze.thumb.jpg.a10146665bd9f7cfa0edbf777e316303.jpg

I also wanted a new striker and found Gael playing for Toulouse. He's still young but already had a pretty good goalscoring record. £30 something million seemed like a good punt and he has done well!

1472782323_priitsoomre.thumb.jpg.2ee91b20accefd96af2a9e8cdcc7c83c.jpg

Priit was playing for Nurnberg, but he couldn't resist the coming to the German capital. He cost roughly £5 million and will be one of my backup/rotational central midfielders.

2018394801_leefarrell.thumb.jpg.e86f8a6ebb3fdbc66d23b8933120aebe.jpg

Lee Farrell is a scottish wonderkid that I just couldn't let go to waste at Rangers. He cost an exorbitant amount (£34 million) but he could play for Hertha for the next 10+ years so I think it's a pretty good investment. Either that or he goes for an awful lot of money in the future. Plays as my DLP (D) which is a pretty important position.

1817983312_victormetayer.thumb.jpg.fa36b37c38e1325d02435fc5eb4dc5af.jpg

Victor was scouted as being available for a bizarre £3 million from Marseille. Not sure why they wanted to get rid of him but he can play MC, AML & AMC so will provide good cover.

A very short review this time as this post is rather strangely made with me having already completed the season

hertha_season_ending_table.thumb.jpg.42d0161966a650734e621c4dca9e824f.jpg

I managed to salvage the season and get Hertha up to 9th position, picking up a few good wins a long the way.

fixtures.thumb.jpg.8b22ae43453d6aeb75ab4eca351d6d59.jpg

The win against Schalke was especially important as it kick started the closing stages and helped propel us up the table (Schalke were fighting for Champions League at the time).

Next Season

I already have a few transfers in mind, I think I'll look to bring in another striker & a right back but other than that the squad should be good enough to compete for a top half finish, maybe even push for the Europa League.

I also need to upgrade my staff but other than that I'm pretty happy to leave the club as it is.

Good Luck with Hertha! They are my favorite German team.

I am building a South American team in Peru. Peru's league is competitive but there are 3-4 favorites and they are definitely worse than Argentinian and Brazilian sides, but you can get lucky if you play defensively and counter attack.

I have made the semifinals of the Copa Sud America twice in three years and made it out of the Copa Libretores Group Stage only to be thumped by Brazilian giants FLA and SAN.

See my profile tag for the team....its been fun save.
