I briefly touched upon three players who were wanted and all three of those left plus our starting GK. Motuang left for Wolves, wonderkid Belov went to PSG, Chamorro went to Barca (and worth 34m now) and Njoh left for Celta Vigo. I chose to sell Spanish national Paco to Sabail, he was in the 2nd team and also chose to sell van Dijk to PSV as although he was better than both other DM's he was 3rd choice due to the league rules around Azeri U21's. 6 foreigners out allowed me to go hunting for the next crop to come in. First in was Dor Azulay from Maccabi Tel-Aviv, I scouted him last season and their demands had lowered since, under a million will prove to be a bargain. Buxmeier is for the U19s. Jaziri is a Tunisian left back, originally due to sign at the end of his contract, no brainer to bring him in for 50k. Zico is a Brazilian right winger who needs to develop a bit first before becoming a starter, £2.5m was a little steep but the potential is there. Moravcik another £1m signing this time from Slovakian side Zilina, he is back up right back as things stand. Lastly Dzaferovic was signed when we lost our GK, another signing over £1m from Serbian side Vojvodina. £16.75m worth of sales this season is a record (including record single sale with Chamorro) versus £5.75m worth of replacements. Posted October 16, 2019 Author Share Posted October 16, 2019 Youth Intake 2045 I didn't even post last years intake as its was that poor but there has been an improvement this season, enough to post it. It doesn't look much but a 4.5* potential player is way better than of recent times. Quite poor personalities, two positive ones. The best two candidates are strikers which suits me fine, lets take a look at them. Ibrahimov This guy is the 4.5* potential guy and I expect him to pop to 5* after review. Physicals are a little lacking but some good mentals like composure, off the ball and work rate coupled with very good finishing for this level. Abbasov However, I'm more excited about this guy, only 3.5* potential but I expect that to increase also, possibly to 5* too. Less composed but better work rate which makes him that pressing forward, better physicals also. I feel that this guy will take a starting place in the first team before Ibrahimov. However there is no treble this season as we lost the Azeri Cup final to Qarabag, 3-2. We struggled with 4 first team players missing. In Europe we beat HJK, AEK and Celtic to reach the Champions League group stage once again. Drawn against Porto, Shakhtar and Bayer Leverkusen we amassed 13 points to top the group ahead of Bayer in 2nd. We were drawn against and lost to Real Madrid 7-5 on aggregate in the 1st KO Round. Just one player joined in January that was youngster Jepser Holm from Midtjylland for 750k. We also lost a youth player, Andre de Paula wanted to leave when Corinthians bid 950k (1.4m) for him, surprisingly a couple of players had an issue that I let him leave. Ademilson finished top scorer with 22 but was plagued with a few niggley injuries so could have had 5-8 more goals I reckon. Attacking mid Iker and striker Muradov (YP34a) both scored 21 apiece. Dladla was the only other player to score double figures. New goalkeeper Dzaferovic managed to score 8 in his debut season, whilst Abbasov (YP39a) scored 3 from the games he played. No improvements in facilities as they are maxed out. We gained Dinamo Brest as an affiliate club. Average attendance now stands at 21,010. Yeah 15th in Europe at the minute, ahead of the likes of Sevilla, Milan, Lyon and Arsenal. Qarabag are 156th, Qabala 184th and Sabail 188th. The league is now ranked the 12th best in Europe also, ahead of the Danish, Austrian and Swiss top leagues. We're level with the Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and Belgian leagues so another couple of good CL campaigns and we could just to 8th in Europe. Top side in Azerbaijan qualifies straight for CL Groups and 2nd place go into Best Placed 3rd Qual Round. Also now have 3 sides who qualify for Europa League. Posted October 19, 2019 Author Share Posted October 19, 2019 Youth Intake 2046 Whilst this isn't a bad intake it isn't a great one either, no 5* potential as of yet but a couple of players to work with. More varied personalities this year, with a couple of Driven and a Professional. We have a couple of affiliate prospects including finally a decent potential one in Peraza. Initial look he isn't too great but with the facilities and coaches I have I feel I can mould a semi-decent player there. Our best prospect however has to be this guy, an unambitious GK. Abbasov (YP39a)'s development has really stalled and this guy is better than him already. A couple of seasons in the U19s will really see his stats grow. Straight into the group stage this season in the Champions League and drawn alongside Ajax, Milan and Barcelona. We topped the group beating each of those in the first 3 games, a draw against Milan in Milan was followed by an away win against Ajax and home win over Barcelona. Incredible performances. We were drawn against Dortmund in the 1st KO Round but unfortunately lost the first leg in Germany 2-0. We managed to get a credible 2-2 draw at home but bowed out of the competition. I sold 2 first teamers this season, right winger Zico left for Porto in a deal worth £3m (£4m) and right back Bjarnason left for Brighton for £2.2m in January. I signed just one first team player this season with Erik Kapun joining from Maribor to take the AMR spot for just 675k. Ademilson (YP33a) scored 30 goals in all competitions this season and only three other players made double figures; Iker (16), Dzaferovic (12) and youngster Abbasov (YP45a) with 11 after his promotion to the first team just before the winter break. We struggled a little with injuries again this season with Kapun (out for 5 months), Muradov (YP34a) out a couple of times, Abbasov (YP45a) out for a month and few others which really disrupted our flow. We gained Cape Town City as an affiliate club but proved fruitless this season whereas both Danubio and Dinamo Brest both provided a youngster at our intake. I'm trying to secure another one at the minute. Not sure what causes the sudden jump but i've had it before where it does this then reverts back to what it was before. Lets hope it stays the way it is now. Posted October 20, 2019 Author Share Posted October 20, 2019 Season Review 2046/47 Smashed through another season quite quickly and we finished the season unbeaten, in fact so did the 2nd team in the Azeri First League and so have the U19's, a clean sweep. We also won the Azeri Cup and the lost in the Super Cup to make it just a domestic double this season. Straight into the group stage of the CL once again and we were drawn alongside PSV, Ludogorets and Barcelona. We finished level on points with Barcelona beating both PSV and Ludogorets home and away and taking a solitary point from Barca. In the 1st KO Round we drew Dortmund for the second successive season and in similar fashion bowed out of the competition, losing 3-2 in the home leg and drawing 1-1 in Germany. I signed two first team players this season, breaking our transfer record in the process by spending £5.25m on Brazilian right winger Irwing Schapitz from Fortaleza (?). I also signed a back up right back from Qabala for £1.7m, not worth anything near that much but with player values having increased I had to, the Bulgarian has dual nationality with Azerbaijan which I need more of in my squad. I signed 6 youth players including Felix Lorenzo who has scored 71 goals in the U19 this season. Ademilson (YP33a) scored 28 goals this season and was ably backed up by GK Dzaferovic with 19, he also kept 25 clean sheets. Abbasov (YP45a) scored 13 in what I feel was a disappointing season for him, Schapitz hit 10 goal in a debut season which was disrupted with injuries, at least three times he was out for around a month for separate injuries. Other players like Iker, Azulay and Kapun also spent time on the sidelines. Training facilities were actually downgraded at the beginning of the season and I'm yet to convince the board to improve them back again. Weekly wages have crept up to 420k per week but we have a weekly wage budget of £3.2m. Prince Dladla is leaving at the end of the season, returning to his home land of South Africa, the 33 year old having spent 12 seasons with the club, he amassed 438 appearances for the club scoring 154 goals. We gained Johor DT from Malaysia as a affiliate club. Matvey Tereshko - joined in 2034 as U19 manager before promotion to AssMan in 2037 when Nurlan left. He spent just a season in that position as he left to take over at Espanyol. He spent two seasons there and is currently the manager of Malaga. Emiliano Marcondes - joined in 2031 as an U19 coach then was promoted to U19 AssMan. He then became first team AssMan when Tereshko left. He left this season for Benfica. Posted October 21, 2019 Author Share Posted October 21, 2019 Youth Intake 2048 After deeming last season intake quite poor, that in fact I forgot to even post about it, this isn't much better. The thing I'm interested in though is the different nationalities represented. Larroque is Uruguayan and came from affiliate club Wanderers, whilst Dlamini is South African and joins via Cape Town City another affiliate club. So where do the remainder come via? Valiyev born in England joins the intake and Morales was born in Spain but both have Azeri second nationality. Sometimes I wish there was a little more depth into the info given revolving around how they ended up in our intake. When did they move to Azerbaijan? Who convinced them to join if it wasn't the HoYD? (as in is it because I have a Spanish/English backroom staff member?) Which youth club did they play for before joining us? Anyway, this is the first intake of our new Head of Youth Development, Anquimar a Brazilian regen who played for Juventude, Atletico Mineiro and Flamengo (I think). He has a Resolute personality and 16 for Working with Youngsters whilst 12 JPA/15 JPP stats. So a little worse than my previous HoYD. He only has a National B license so, so much room to grow if the game wasn't broken in giving HoYD coaching courses. Overall I deem this a semi-OK intake, one stand out player in Xalilov who is a CB with a Determined personality and 19 for determination, that bodes well for this development. Back to domestic treble ways with a league win but with a defeat which was disappointing. 2nd placed Qabala finished with a negative goal difference, only Qarabag (+3) and Neftci in 5th (+1) finished with a positive GD other than ourselves and ours was +69. We won the Azeri Cup beating Turan and won the Super Cup beating Kapaz. In Europe we were drawn with Dinamo, Bayern and Dynamo Kiev. We finished 2nd behind Bayern, beating the other two home and away but only gaining one point against the German club. In the 1st KO Round were drawn against Barcelona and thats as far as we got in the competition losing 3-1 in both legs. This season we didn't sign any first team players, the only way to improve my squad is to sign foreigners and we had 10 in the squad as it was. In January we sold two foreign players, Jacquot was a 2nd team player and went to Nantes for £1.5m whilst Slovakian international Kapun left for German side Hertha Berlin for £8.5m, our record sale. Ademilson (YP33a) (now 31) excelled once again scoring 31 goals this season in 36(2) games, quite a ratio when he is beginning to decline physically. Muradov (YP34a) and Abbasov (YP45a) both hit double figures as did Israeli Azulay who hit 12 from AML. Schapitz contributed 9 goals and 14 assists from the other flank. I finally got the board to improve the training facilities back to State of the Art at a cost of £2.2m. We then lost our best player Schapitz to Valencia, he wanted to leave and I didn't want to cause a problem with the squad. He left for £15m + 50% profit sell on, he's instantly worth £36m. We then sold our best CB and youth intake player Verdiyev to Real Sociedad in a deal worth £12.5m + 50% sell on (not profit as he is 28 so less likely to be sold for a profit). Three players came in this season, Mustafayev is a 16 year old GK for the youth team. Marcinkevicius is a Lithuanian with Azeri second nationality, he joins primarily as a striker but can fill in at either wing. Scarlat is a Romanian right winger who is the direct replacement for Schapitz. We end the summer window with £29m worth of sales versus £8.3m worth of signings. It will be in alphabetical order. Anicet Aka signed from Ivorian side ASEC for 250k, spent one and a half seasons before leaving for Monaco for £1.5m. After two seasons there he moved to Marsielle for £4.7m. Francisco Amaral signed for free from Guimaraes in the 2042/43 season. Left for Liverpool two seasons later for £2m. Spent 3 of his 5 seasons in Spain on loan. Oleg Belov was signed for £2.2m from Russian side Orenburg, one largely unsuccesful season saw him offered out, PSG bit for £4m. Spent 3 seasons on loan in Spain also. Solon Breki Bjarnason was signed from FH in Iceland for 180k. 3 seasons as first choice RB see Brighton bid £2.2m. After two seasons in England he left for Bayer Leverkusen for £20m, moved this season to Hoffenheim for £14.25m. Nicolas Chamorro was signed in 2043, spent one season before Barcelona signed him for £8m. 5 unimpressive seasons in Spain, wanted by Bournemouth. Emanual D'Urso signed for £2.5m had a fantastic season and left for Valencia for £5.75m. Two quieter seasons in Spain he left for Napoli for £17m. Simon Roger Kawaya was signed from fellow Azeri side Sabail in 2040 for £975k. One season at RB he was sold to Bournemouth for £1.4m, six consistent seasons on the south coast saw Man City buy him for £24.5m and then sold a season later to Southampton for £16.5m. Rodrigue Koffi was signed for 175k from ASEC. Never made a first team appearance sold to PSG for £1m. Signed for Bayern for £54m, we got that huge profit sell on. Joined Barcelona for £46m, just signed for Leicester this season for £15m. Joel Motaung was signed in 2043 from Kaizer Chiefs for 600k. One decent season with us he joined Wolves for £1.1m his release clause. Been impressive since. Leonal Torres was signed from Salvadoran side Aguila for 220k. We were drawn along side Bayern, Valencia and Malmo. We lost to Bayern home and away whilst beating the other two home and away. We were drawn against Leipzig in the 1st KO Round and beat them 3-2 on aggregate to go through to the Quarter Final for the first time in 5 seasons. In those Quarter Finals we were drawn against Barcelona, we lost 2-1 in the away leg so a glimmer of hope with the away goal, at home we battled to a 3-3 draw but subsequently bowed out of the competition. In January we signed two youngsters and sold three of our own who hadn't progressed as much as I would have liked. Whilst Ademilson (YP33a) top scored with 25 goals this season it was new signing Mihai Scarlat who shone on the right wing as an inside forward with 22 goals and 7 assists in 32 games. Goalkeeper Dzaferovic improved dramatically in his goal scoring efforts with 15 but also missed 8 of his 16 penalties attempted. Two players gained Azeri nationality this season, Iker in AMC, he's only 25 so has a good 4/5 seasons in the first team if he stays fit and Yani Sandoval, the 24 year old Colombian centre back. Posted October 24, 2019 Author Share Posted October 24, 2019 Youth Intake 2050 As we enter a new decade and the furthest I've ever been in a FM save we have a pretty decent intake for a few differing reasons. Rather than one decent prospect there's a couple here in Bayramov, Kurlovich, Aliyez and Salinas. The affiliate clubs are starting to give us better players, we have three players this season from two affiliate clubs; Kurlovich from Dinamo Brest in Belarus and Salinas and Adonaire from Cesar Vallejo in Peru. We also have an Italian with Azeri second nationality but he's quite poor. Bayramov looks a good talent, an AMC which i'm pleased about, our more recent quality players from the intakes have been strikers. League winners, however not unbeaten with us losing to Turan, who eventually finished 6th. We actually kept 20 clean sheets in the league, conceding 9 goals in the 8 remaining games. We also won the Azeri Cup, beating First League side Suvalan in the final. It was in Europe we need to make further in roads. In the CL Group Stage we were drawn against Celtic, PSG and Sevilla. We beat Celtic home and away, Sevilla at home also but gained just one other point and eventually finished 3rd in the group. In the EL 1st KO Round we drew Bayer Leverkusen and beat them comfortably 5-1 on aggregate. Lyon next, wins to nil in both legs sent us through to the quarter finals, Chelsea the opponents. We lost 3-2 at Stamford Bridge but turned it around with a 2-0 home win. Another London club in the semi's, Tottenham this time. We drew both games, 1-1 at home but amazingly we drew 3-3 at White Hart Lane to send us into the final, our 2nd Europa League final. Athletico Madrid our opponents, BAM!! Kamal Ibrahimovic (YP45b) scores the winner after 49mins to win our first European title. Our first Quadruple was completed as we won the Azeri Super Cup also. I really think the CL title is possible but before FM20 comes out I don't think so. We spent 10m this season including 3 first team players, those three players are all currently wonderkids. Guy Cohen signing from Maccabi Tel-Aviv for £4.3m, currently wanted by PSG, Claudio Lobo signed from Estudiantes for £3m, had limited opportunities but will eventually replace Ademilson and Dominik Lesko who signed for just 375k from Nitra, he slotted straight into RB after I sold Moravcik to Brighton for £14m. The only other notable sale was Huseynov (YP43a) who joined Sabail for £2.7m. Ademilson (YP33a) top scored again this season with 25 goals but has shown signs of decline physically so will play less next season. If Scarlat hadn't broken his ankle in February he would have finished top scorer for sure, he had managed 21 goals prior to that from AMR as an IF. Europa League final scorer Ibrahimovic (YP45b) also scored 21 goals in his breakthrough season. After last season I took Dzaferovic off penalties but kept him on free kicks and he still scored 8. We break through the £500m mark in the bank for the first time.
