Fm16 Does AI change PI? Number of specialist roles still dependant on Team Shape?

Recommended Posts

No role has ever been dependant on team shape, never. What you did was take a guide and took it as hard fact and the only way to play. It was only ever a guide nothing more. Technically there is no such thing as a specialist role.

And yes the AI changes PI's and uses TI's.

In my opinion almost nothing.

I think this was an idea, an interpretation useful to provide a particular "thinking guide". Generally speaking I think that it was a theory, as many others, written with absolutely awareness, but too often taken as "mantra".

I'm not an expert of the "dark room" of FM16 but I found that team shape affects positions (how compact is the team in terms of distance between defender and forward) and in my opinion is dependent only on you idea of playing.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks Cleon for a quick reply.

Ivan thanks I'm awere of those changes. The shape also sets creative freedom which is a bit conflicting imo. It would be more logical if CF was linked with roaming or dribbling but that's another discussion.

I wonder how sophisticaded is the AI really. Can it recognise a it has exellant dribbler in a role which doesnt have run with ball often for example? What do you guys think? I always wanted to play on same level as the AI sort to say. What if I was fooled by AI. Lol. But seriously if it can control wisely such fine tuning as player instrutions it's quite nice. I think this years ME is really reactive and challenging. some matches look like real ones. In2D.

Well, there is no question that it needs work. It has had some love with this version, so it is better than it has been, but it still struggles with squad building. What it does NOT do as far as I or anybody can tell, is build a team around a system. And your point is secondary to that, in that it doesn't seem to adapt to the players it has. What it does do is a better job of allocating roles and duties within a system and so we are seeing better overall play. It needs to take that next step of a) proper squad construction and b) flexibility to adapt its play to its players

I'd like to share my experience of yesterday evening about ME.

I'm playing with Arsenal and I won the Community Shield against Chelsea. 5 days later I had the first match of the season, at Stamford Bridge, against Chelsea again. Well, Mourinho (AI) played very different from the Community Shield. In that case I scored with a ball into space and had 2-3 CCCs with passes behind the d-line, but in the season match Chelsea kept the d-line very very deep (it seems he remembered the previous match) and every time I changed something after 2-3 minutes they also change something to adapt.

I've never seen it before it was marvellous.

This must have been coincidence as the AI isn't that intelligent and doesn't counter you move for move. This is what gives the human manager the edge because the AI isn't sophisticated enough to counter move for move.

Probably yes.

However it was a great experience.
