I've just started in this division and the rules stae no non-EU players so why has my club the day before I started signed an Argentine striker who won't be allowed to play ?

You sure he doesn't have EU nationality?

I can't recall if you cant SIGN an non-eu, or you can't register a NON-EU. I'm pretty sure you can't sign.

Odd indeed.

They are new into the Division and he arrived before I did and I started on the 8th July 2009, and he definately dosen't have dual nationality.

So no answer why a club would sign a player who can't play?

I am playing in Spanish 2nd Div as well and I have 6 Argentinian, 1 Brazilian and 1 Uruguayan in my squad, but the all have at least one other EU nationality in the personal tab.

Are you sure this player hasn't got a second nationality - it won't show you this on the main profile page?

Maybe they just got relegated, and they had signed him during the previous season in anticipation of still being in La Liga.

Sorry I meant the team is in the 3rd tier and they just come up from the unplayable league below. He definately dosen't have a 2nd nationality. Bit miffed because the've signed him on a three year contract.

If they were in an unplayable league then they must have signed him because there were no squad limitations before when they weren't participating in a simulated league.
