You are basically proving my point here by your comment.

"so you have to check their stats beforehand and pick the right option" - do you really think this happens in the real world? That Ancelotti - before daring say "i appreciate your good form" to Benzema - has to go back and check specific statistics to make sure he doesnt get a pissed off player that will start to consider his future at the club because his manager offered him a well-meaning 'well done' ?

In real life he can see his team perform on the pitch, and also talk to Benzema daily and gauge his personality and how he responds to praise or criticism and decide where and when to do so. In real life Ferguson was a strict disciplinarian who had extremely high standards with everyone who played with Man United and the clout and personality to make players respect him. Except Eric Cantona, where he would mostly let him get away with anything because he felt that was the best way to motivate them.

We don't have that. We have an abstract version of this based on player ratings, stats and personalities. The line has to be somewhere. You presumably wouldn't praise him if he was the most in form player but averaged 6.53 in the last five games.

I'm not saying that you are wrong to be annoyed, more that the game doesn't give you enough information to understand where that line is and why.

Can we PLEASE get a Technical Director type role for National Teams .. hiring staff for all senior and youth teams is such a chore, and an unnecessary one at that .. I know you can put out adverts, but it's still not something I really want to do!

Staffing in the game needs a complete overhaul. It can be very easy to find the perfect coach only for him to demand to be an assistant, despite the staff filter saying otherwise.

Big clubs have 12 coaches (plus the assistant manager and your own stats) and you need to fill all of them (and use the 6 U21 staff) to get a full star rating and light workload, yet looking at Man City's first team staff in real life they have like 6 including Pep plus two first team analysts.

Also, it's basically impossible to know whether your staff are getting better.

I didn't write that it isn't viable. I wrote: if you do, you're handicapping yourself.

My own results prove it. Tests around tactics prove it.

People (myself included) tend to romanticize a certain playstyle. But if it's significantly worse than something else I'm over with.

That's fair. I agree to a point, I definitely think that plug and play & gegenpress tactics are less viable with every team now but once you are above average for the division it's pretty likely to overachieve.

The other bugbear is seeing Conte teams in the relegation zone for playing a back 3

However, where exactly in the game does that actually happen?   I mean the scouting cards are from the scouts and when I use the player search, I am the "recruitment analyst" myself. And when I compare players I compare their attributes.   etc.

Their data will be added to the scout report directly, so a player with have a scout report and analyst report but in the scouting centre it will be combined. They give you stuff like how well they are doing in the league for xG/tackling/etc. compared to the rest of the league.

For small clubs save your money for scouts.

This kind of B.S. when you praise the form of your player with the highest 5 match average rating of the entire team...

    Udklip.JPG

I find with the player interactions that the lack of guidance or documentation is the problem and makes the system look illogical when it's okay once you know how it works.

For example, he might be the best performing player in the team, but if his average rating is 7 and he has a professional personality he might have higher expectations and think he is just playing okay and that your praise is just bullshitting him.

Same with criticising players for a match performance. They have broken it up into aspects of a performance (tackling, crossing, shooting) so you have to check their stats beforehand and pick the right option.

Same with fines, you can fine players for poor performance but you need to find the line where a player won't kick off, which is usually not fining them two weeks wages. You can even warn players in the youth team who played badly and they actually respond, but fining them anything they will kick off.

Not to say it's perfect, and some players will always kick off regardless.

I always wondered something similar - is there any proof that more coaching stars really have impact on anything?

For example is there any proof that if you have a coach with 20 attacking 20 motivation and 20 lod ( 5 stars ) will make your player attributes in that department grow faster/better than if you have 3 stars?

I remember before, I think it was FM2015, sometimes I didn't bring good coaches because I hate to search for them, and I didn't notice any difference in player development or in my game even if I had coaches with 2-3 stars, and I was always buying the same wonderkids, their development was the same no matter how good my coaches were. So I am really curious if there are any real proofs that coaches with good technical and mental attributes really have an impact on players

Evidence Based Football Manager has videos on the subject on YouTube and proved it has some impact. The impact is smaller than people think as game time is more important from 18 onwards but with a lot of systems in FM every little helps.

  7. Motivation, Determination and Level of Discipline effect the coach rating of the staff member. To get a five star coach requires at least fairly high in some/all of these.

HOYD and youth manager personalities can influence the personalities of your youth intake.

Your Assistant will do better in press conferences and give better team talk/interaction advice with good man management I believe.

Does anyone know when the £200m budget go into Newcastle's coffers kick in? I've joined them in my new winter update save and it's says £0?

Did you tick prevent first transfer window? If so the transfer budget will appear in January.

Newcastle is obviously a lot easier than most clubs due to the stream of cash. The main issue you will run into is managing FFP in the first couple of years while you get deadwood off the books.

Also the training facilities and youth facilities will take a while to catch up.

how is fm21 compared to current fm? Is it worth going back to it? Are there any things that you might miss on?

In FM21 players under 24 increase in CA much faster, although after 24 that's basically it, whereas in FM22/23 the progression is much slower but also can improve players past 24.

Also, in FM21 older players basically drop off a cliff after 30, whereas in FM22/23 players can last well into their 30s, although it's possible they went too much in the opposite direction.

As a result, FM21 AI replaces it's older players with younger players constantly, although 30 year olds decline too rapidly.

FM21 still has the same issues with newgen attributes (full backs with low crossing).

I don't know whether you would really see a difference between FM21 and FM23 other than noticing the average ages of squads are different, now that they've at least fixed young players getting game time. Not to say there isn't problems but FM22 is where the problem was really bad.

You are sure. I came here to question Casemiro, Varane, having a mediocre attribute, players with 5 CL, 1 WC (Varane), and who play at the highest level in recent years. I am wrong. But players like VVD, who are completely overrated and have pathetic quality. Or Salah, who has a mediocre goal average in the PL in recent years, both being classified as WC(90 Overral).

But yes, your argument is correct, MBAPPE in a single good season, turned Overrall 100. Playing in the Farm League. The Wrong one is me, who pays $60 every year to have a game based on Marketing and not on real attributes. If you think that's how it should be, why doesn't SEGA make a Football Manager Ultimate and stop selling a new game every year? That way, they can draw on previous years instead of just the respective season. Correct? And even if it were true, Casemiro and Varane, experienced players with many titles, would be Overrall 90, not 81. That's why I say, there is no methodology. But fanboys will defend.

And do you know which team I play for? Minor league teams. I like Ajax. I like Borussia, or West Ham, Everton, I like teams that I can turn into great teams. I cited only crude examples of how poorly balanced the game is. I make AJAX beat PSG and Liverpool who are 100% Marketing.
And every campaign I do, Liverpool and Chelsea are winning the PL. It's really funny because this is far from reality. But according to you, this is correct. Or PSG, always winning CL. That's their dream, maybe in the multiverse called FM, it will happen.

By your own admission you want to manage teams like Everton and Ajax to the PL or CL, which is a one in a million chance in real life. So we can accept we only want a certain level of realism here.

It's not a perfect system, but I don't see how replacing it with knee-jerk reactions is better.

This is wrong? Do they not have these attributes? Is this website lying? Funny that I opened FM23 here on my PC, and everything is fine. And I'm not a FIFA player, I think that sucks. I've always played FM in all versions, but with each passing year the game has become more Marketing, and less reality. This is sad.

    https://fminside.net/players
    Mohamed Salah - Football Manager 2023 - FM23 - FM2023 (fminside.net)

This rating is decided by FMInside and we have no idea what it is based on.

These ratings do not exist in FM

  12. This happens every year. As soon as someone is on a bad run of form or a great run of form someone will demand radical changes. Imagine if SI buffed Almiron to 160CA in this update based purely on this season?

Making minor changes and adjusting over time is the absolute best way to go. There is no perfect way to ascertain the quality of every single player in this game and knee-jerk reactions would backfire on SI even more.

    • It should be said that development wise, there does not seem to be a major difference between the number of 150+ CA players. So the top quality newgens are there.
The 34% decrease in 130+ CA players is a bit concerning though.

Another detail: fullbacks not developing their crossing and dribbling attributes is STILL A THING! At the start there are 210 players between the ages of 23-24 with 12+ crossing and dribbling. 10 years later, this number is astonishingly 13 players! That's a 94% decrease!

I'm glad at the least CA growth has improved. It was pretty bad seeing 190+ rated 21  year olds in the reserves with 120 CA.

I think the fullback thing is another issue. I believe that because most teams put full backs in the defensive unit, they are not getting any crossing training at all, causing it to decline.

It's not that the hiring of the staff is too easy, it's that the AI teams are terrible at assembling staff. If you sim in the future, most teams will have like 1 first team coach and will never consider replacing bad coaches with better coaches.

This. A lot of staff in the game at the start are missing a lot of db entries also so sometimes they will generate awful stats for the role they work.

What is his database most known "fix", I mean why should I use his database. Does it fix the development of younger players, to be picked more and to actually AI teams choose the high PA players in their match squads ?

The main fix is to readjust reputation gains players get from reserve teams and youth awards so that the high quality youngers can catch up to older players.

He also adjusted managers to be more inclined to play younger players.
