  2. Morocco are good at making the game into a scrap, but they don't have much of a counter-attacking threat. That's not their fault, but it means that I don't see how they can keep up the run of shocks. Whereas the Dutch are quite boring, and only have a few really good players, but they do offer a threat on the counter and that is probably the match I most want to watch. I think Croatia will be a rerun of the Switzerland-Brazil game, it's a shame Croatia haven't got some fairly poor but pacy forward to at least keep their defence honest.
  3. I did a detailed look through last time this was brought up, it is wishful thinking. We have given up leads whether we score early or relatively late. And lost when being level relatively late on too. We just aren't good against big teams in recent history.
  4. I'm sure there will be other golden snitch bonuses in future rounds!
  5. Third one yes, I don't think many keepers save the 1v1 earlier though which he did
  6. I thought Switzerland would be better than this, look poor going forward and defending atm
  7. The only downside is every single cutaway will be to Ronaldo on the bench
  8. Yes, it was Spain who just pass it to death but Morocco played that really well. Give them that header and those chances for the Bari (9 in 12 on wiki must be an editing error right?) striker against the Sarabbia chance late on and you take that all day long, should have won it before pens based on chances.
  9. Sure, his coach doesn't really trust him to run and might annoy him now by taking him off before full time. His club form might not be the best either, but you can't ignore his record at major tournaments. That's enough about Shaqiri though, what about tonight's game? Created Helvetica but I think the Swiss lineup pic is a bit low-effort tbh How did they get here? Portugal: Came second to Serbia in qualifying, beat Turkey and North Macedonia in the playoff round and topped their group at the finals, beating Uruguay and Ghana before a Portugal XI lost to Korea. Switzerland: Thanks to Jorginho missing penalties they won their group that included Italy, then beat Cameroon and Serbia to qualify second behind Brazil to whom they lost 1-0. Last 16 regulars? Portugal: This will be their 4th match at this stage, and they'll be hoping to avoid a 3rd successive loss. A Maniche goal was enough to beat The Netherlands in 2006, Spain beat them 1-0 in 2010 and they lost to Uruguay 2-1 in 2018 Switzerland: Played 4 before this WC, and never even scored. They at least took Ukraine to pens in 2006 but they couldn't even convert one of those. Their last knockout game was a 1-0 loss to Sweden in 2018. Previous meetings? A qualifying match for France 1938 which the Swiss won 2-1 in Milan in the days before 'sportswashing' was a word - Hitler and Mussolini were present but at least the trains left promptly when they returned home. There have been quite a few qualifiers and a dead rubber match in Euro 2008, when Murat Yakin's brother scored both goals for Switzerland. The most recent match was in the Nations League earlier this year, a first minute Seferovic goal enough to separate the sides.
  10. This is what I expected England vs Senegal to be. I can remember very little from this half.
