  1. Here is the file if you'd like to take a look. I swapped the draw date (thanks for spotting that!), but the problem still occurs. This file is not complete so I haven't looked at sorting hosts and money out etc even though the fields are filled in. It's a work in progress! All I have been focusing on is a) getting the draw to work, and b) sorting out the dates. I just can't see why it keeps playing in May. 6.2.2 fcwc 6 clubs.fmf
  2. The European Cup always had this rule. Here is an example from 1978/79, Nottingham Forest played Liverpool. Liverpool were reigning European champions, and Forest English champions.
  3. I've no seeding in the draws other than byes for the top nations into the first round. Edit: I've just checked the file and a long term holiday save up to 2090. There is the odd top seed clash (nations 1 to 8). In the 22/23 of my EC test save, AC Milan played Bayern Munich in the first round. I agree alot of the winners are traditionally big teams. Maybe this has alot to do with the finances of today compared to back in the 80s when it was more of a level playing field? It is still going to be very difficult for a minnow to lift one of these trophies unless there has been continual success with financial reward to build better squads. If Bohemians, for example, were to make it through to the first round of the European competitions then they will receive financial rewards up to €50 million depending on the competition. This money, can allow the club the opportunity to dominate their league. So regular first round appearances will allow the club to grow continentally, and gradually get further into the competitions each year. However drop out at the qualifying round, or worse still, don't qualify will make things harder for the minnows to make it to the super big time.
  4. Is that in the European cup? There will be 2 teams from 1 nation. So winners of the EC the previous year are invited back to defend their crown, and then the winners of the same country's league. In the scenario where the European champions also win their domestic league then the next place in the league takes the spot in the EC. Thus 2 teams from 1 nation each season. It is entirely possible, as in your example @Rob 396, that a final could contain 2 teams from the same nation.
  5. I have hit a brick wall with reshaping the Club World Championship. I have been dabbling with various formats and decided to drop the 7 team one down to a 6 team format. I have got the matches working but my scheduling is not going as planned. The tournament is scheduled to be played in December. But in testing it always plays in May, no matter what the year. I cannot fathom where it is pulling that information from. This is the original Club World Championship file that I have amended in Advanced Rules. So I changed it to an annual tournament and scrapped the group tournament that is planned. I wonder has it anything to do with Fixture Rules? They are set at 4 in the original file. I have moved this to -1 but the same thing happens. I've also tried to create rules by setting up International Rules in the List Tab at the top middle of the menu on the left. But this just stopped it working so I removed it. So I don't know what Fixture Rules it is referring to? I did not have the same problem in FM22 when changing things. Does anyone have an idea what I should be checking, or unchecking, or creating, or removing?
  6. I just looked at that and my head is aching at the thought of setting that up! I shall hide behind the fact that the UEFA Youth League was not around in the 1980s
  7. The world is your oyster @LazgoNNO2000. Fire up that editor and get making those competitions! I'm happy in the world of the eighties!!!
  8. I have fixed the error where the incorrect squad selection in fixtures rules was not working. There was no bug and it was all down to me . I have updated the file at the top of the page.
  9. Please close this thread. I discovered I had not allocated the rules to specific competitions when setting the rules up. Apologies. Everything now works fine.
  10. I realised this evening that the above screenshots show the UEFA Cup as having a rule of no more than 3 non EU players in the starting 11. I can confirm that I have not set this to happen as my first screenshot shows. The European Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup are showing no rule whatsoever. Would this get fixed in the next update?
  11. I think I've done you a disservice @V2023. When looking at your file earlier I realised that I had also put my NI Cup name change file on as well. Without my file, all the non active leagues work. So apologies for bringing your file into it when I didn't need to.
  12. 3.liga in Germany when not active does not take place in the Past Winners History tab. for example. I would imagine this happens with others using edited databases. If not then ... I don't know why!!??
  13. It is so obscure, especially as these are mainly tier 3 and below issues. Works when on view only and playable though.
  14. I have created 4 European competitions. The Squad Selection Rules is not being picked up within the game despite being selected within the editor. I believe this was an issue last year as well that was eventually fixed. 'Appy 'Ammer's 80s style European Competitions (FM23).fmf
  15. After much deliberation I finally decided to get hold of FM23. The first thing I set about doing was to repeat my 80s style European Competitions from FM22. Here is last year's link with a thorough description of how things came about https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/563004-80s-style-european-competitions/. So here it is, 1970s and 1980s knockout European football. No group games, just straight on in with the 2 legged cup matches, and the crucial away goal is king of course! So I've removed all the modern day competitions and replaced them with the following: European Cup - 55 teams (Champions of each country plus the winner of the European Cup to defend their crown). Straight knockout with a Qualifying Round, First Round, Second Round, Quarter Final, Semi Final, and Final. European Cup Winners' Cup - 54 teams (Domestic FA Cup winner of each country). Straight knockout with a Qualifying Round, First Round, Second Round, Quarter Final, Semi Final, and Final. UEFA Cup - 120 teams (Best next placed teams in leagues of each nation, ranging from 2 places to 4 places depending on nation's coefficient). Straight knockout with a Qualifying Round, First Round, Second Round, Third Round, Quarter Final, Semi Final, and a 2 legged Final. European Super Cup - This replicates how it used to be, with the winner of the EC playing the winner of the ECWC. Update 11th Feb 2023:- I've added Awards to the competitions except the Super Cup. Known Issues: I've embraced and accepted the hard coded rule that in the event of a domestic league and cup double, the Cup Winners Cup spot goes to the next place in the league rather than the runner up of the cup. I've got used to this now! I cannot get the foreign player limit in squad selection rules to work. This would appear to be a bug and I am going to report it as such. FIXED As I've lived in the editor for the last 2 weeks I really don't know if you'll hear any Champions League music being played! (Is that an issue??) I don't know if the dynamic nation movements actually works. I think it does as in some years a nation that had 3 UEFA spots would sometimes have 4 or vice versa. But it's quite sporadic so not entirely sure if it works as intended. There are a few nations that will have a European Playoff. This was mainly designed for qualification for the Europa League, and Conference League. I found it very complicated trying to remove these from nations. I have decided to keep them. Most provide a little entertainment, although Romania becomes a pointless playoff, and Belgium is just bizarre as to what team qualifies.... Load it and see! The Club World Championship works in the game, but I have haven't got my head round how teams are picked. To be fair, I have paid no attention to it. The winners of the European Cup are instructed to qualify for it. I have started work on a Club World Cup which will make my understanding alot easier. The 3rd Round of the UEFA Cup plays during the 2022 World Cup. It's FIFA's fault. The calendar is bunged so I just left it be. It'll only clash that year. I have allowed Russia and Belarus to take part. This is not me condoning the war in Ukraine. I just prefer to see all playable nations being allowed to take part. Finally if you want the Dutch Cup to work you must also use the Dutch file I have attached. So that's it, enjoy it the way proper European football used to be! 16. Well I've discovered that the above problem (not the playoffs one) is not isolated to just my files. I downloaded @V2023's No 2024 format and I got the same problem of some of the lower leagues in Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Slovakia not working or stopping after a season. There must be a bug somewhere. This occurred when those leagues were not active but the ones above in the pyramid were playable or view only. On the plus side they do work, with my file and @V2023's when the leagues in question are at least view only. So all is not lost.
  17. Are there bugs within the editor that can cause this to happen? I cannot fathom why some of these errors are happening. I only discovered those 4 leagues when I was checking to make sure every competition in Europe played before publishing the files. I'm looking blindly at dates and dependencies of these countries but with the lower leagues being effected I can't see how the edited European file would effect them.
  18. Not sure what you mean there @Wolf_pd. If I load my NI name change file with the original game database then all is fine, the names change and all leagues play. The problem occurs when I load the NI name change file with the 80s Euro Database. The NI Premiership and Championship playoff final doesn't happen, so the league seasons in these 2 divisions don't end and never start again. On further inspection of all the other leagues in Europe there is bizzarely 4 nations where some lower divisions do not take place. (Germany - 3.Liga, Portugal - 3rd Division, Slovakia - 2nd Division from 22/23 onwards, and Spain - Federation Divisions. This only happens when I use my 80s Euro database. Maybe the problem is inside this file rather than the NI file. It's all a bit of a headache as I really don't know where to start looking! It's strange, apart from N Ireland, it only effects the lower leagues in these 4 countries, where my 80s file is really only grabbing teams from top divisions and top cup competitions. I am at a loss.
  19. Ok, this is driving me insane. I have made a small change to the Irish Cup as the name is not correct and the round names were not correct. All relevant parts of the file is all I have changed. This works fine with the original database. BUT my problems begin when I use this file with my 80s Euro database. The N Irish Premiership relegation / promotion playoffs do not take place. Consequently the league and the one below (Championship) do not start a new season. This is most annoying. When I use the original database everything is fine. Now it has to have something to do with the European Playoffs. They don't take place , which is fine , as my file takes qualifiers from the league and cup. They do take place in the original database, so somewhere in there lies my problem. But I cannot pinpoint how to rectify it. I should point out, that if I use my 80s euro database without the NI Cup adjusted file, everything works as it should. The European Playoffs don't happen (which is ok), and the correct qualifiers for the 80s European comps are chosen, and the relegation promotion playoffs happen. The league's continue to play each season without issue. I just don't understand how just changing the name of a cup and the relevant rounds can stop the season finishing with a particular database. Can anyone shed any light on where I should look to fix this? Ok, it's not a game breaker as I can still use my file but playing as the Northern Irish Cup (instead of Irish Cup) with qualifying rounds (when there shouldn't be any) but that annoys me, so trying to fix it!
  20. The Irish Cup is incorrectly being named as the Northern Irish Cup in the game. Also the Round names are incorrect. The first round of the tournament is actually the First Round and not the First Qualifying Round. The same goes for the Second, Third and Fourth Rounds. The Fifth Round is when the big guns come in but the game has the as the First Round. The Sixth Round (not the Second Round) is the last of the numbered Rounds before Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Final come into play. Here is a link to the Irish FA website with reports of this weekends Fifth Round ties. https://www.irishfa.com/news/2023/january/irish-cup-fifth-round-recap
  21. It's ok forget this. It was to do with the Czech FA Cup. I thought this was a European Playoff but it is in fact a playoff for the middle 4 teams to see who gets a bye to the third round of the FA Cup instead of the second. Removing this stage meant the FA Cup was a team short and never finishing. Problem solved!
  22. I am changing the Czech First Division so as the 7th to 10th place European Playoff does not take place. I have removed the stage where it happens and have adjusted the championship and relegation group to be two even 8 teams split. A championship group and a relegation group. Now I have changed and or deleted any evidence of this European playoff group that I can see yet I am getting an Error In Nation Rules message which reads: Czech First Division has not finished in time for the season update day 29/6/2023 (Not all stages have been created). Could this error be due to the stage i removed? I have looked everywhere and I really cannot see where any field is looking to draw anything from this deleted stage. Any suggestions on what to do? On the off chance of any kind soul out there here is a copy of the file if anyone would like to take a look? There's also a stage 4 (hidden stage) in there but I've left that bit in this file as I can't see what it does. I have tried removing it in another file but I still got the same error message. czech 80s 1.3.fmf
