Season 4 - 2027/28Promoted yay!!!!
History
League
SpoilerLast season we could avoid the drop because of even shittier teams, this season we were fighting for the title. Gorica was just to strong, after a few seasons always fighting at the top of the league, they now managed to get the ticket to first div football. And we can go together with them because of a crazy playoff game againmst Rogaska, winning both matches in furious ways. The season went consistent, except for a short span where we had to face Gorica first in the cup and a few days later in the league, losing both matches. After a short break we faced Tabor and lost again, which led to us dropping to third and leaving Gorica with a 4 points lead up top. But after that we found our form and managed to finish second. The first playoff leg at Rogaska in front of 2,244 spectators (record for us away), started roughly but in the 78th minute Dino Dukadin scored the winning goal for, we had to just survive at home - where we are strong. 932 people (home record this season) came to watch us. After 49 minutes we led 3:0 and the manager (me) already popping the champagne, Rogaska needed 4 and even after the first 2 scored I didn't thought we could lose that. And we didn't so now we play in the Prva Liga the slovenian top flight.
The best eleven consists of only 2 academy prospects with Marko Mocnik (the corner monster) and Mario Spiegel (the slovak). THe best players were Janzekovic, our keeper who stayed quite healthy throughout the whole save, but managed to got injured in one of the last matches of the season, where I had to put Niko Salamun in goal. Long story short, he isn't the new Olivier Giroud and conceded a penalty in that match. The playoffs then were played by one of our academy keepers, who did fairly well. Offensively Maj Penic was the star of the team with 25 scorer points, followed by the not-next-Giroud Salamun who scored 19 goals and his partner Dino Dukadin, who scored extremely well in the second part of the season.
(stats are bit off due to the playoffs not included)
Stadium
SpoilerDespite our strong performances we weren't able to get more people to come to our matches and missing a big rival in the league we only managed to get 329 spectators at most (apart from the playoffs). But this will change in the next season because...
...for some reason our 4,000 capacity stadium isn't good enough for top flight football, so we have to move to a 250 all seater in Maribor (ca. 30km away) which looks like this:
Perfectly fine for matches against Olimpija and Maribor.
Intake
SpoilerIntake of 2028 looks decent, this time we got our first croatian player and another slovakian besides the slovenians.
Gregor is probably going to play as a right back in the future since we don't use wingers and nonetheless he is slow af.
Rok looks like the young Maj Penic, and he can shoot free kicks. He will play as CM.
And in this year we got a new CB which is always nice, you can't have enough of them according to my team captains. But this time he is also 190+ which I'm a big fan of. He will probably score double digits from corners in the future.
Misc.
SpoilerI finally made some kits, trying to reproduce the real life kits the club has this season.
With the promotion we also turned professional (half of the second div already is professional, so I thought we can survive the financial issues as well.
And we had our first transfers this season, at the start I sold the 4th striker to a croatian 3rd div team or sth like this for 1.4k and in winter the big clubs came in asking for our third striker, but also biggest academy talent Kristian Kozar. The board then couldn't resist the first big offer but I've managed to get a better deal off from Olimpija who spend less but they came with a 40% next transfer clause, which now is worth 200k. Below you can see the player when he was sold. He wasn't very important for us but it always hurts I guess.

Season 3 - 2026/27History
League
SpoilerWelcome to the season 3 recap. It was a rough season starting with a long winless run and many losses. Good thing is, I've managed to fix our away weakness (top half of the season), bad thing is we won't win at home anymore. I'm now playing in a 4222, my favorite system and it seems to work. Until the winter I've tested many systems but sticking with a good old wingerless always warms my heart. Our big rivals Aluminij managed to gain promotion with a superb run in the last few games. The relegated team from the top flight Bistrica were horrible. But luckily for them to 2 promoted teams were even worse. Krsko have only won one game and as you can imagine, they've done it against us - in our stadium...
Hopefully the next season starts better.
In our best 11 you can clearly see that this was our worst season and hopefully will stay our worst for quite a while. You can also see that our 19 goals striker isn't even part of it, that's because he got injured early and never really came back to where he was. Best player award then goest to Sinisa Mlakar, an academy player, who also got injured in the end. With Maj Penic really shining in the new system.
Let's not talk about these crazy stats.
Best LB Slovenia has ever seen. But he performs.
They* call him the slovenian Iniesta.

Stadium
SpoilerA new season ticket holder joined the family - progress.
The bad results really hit our attendances, leaving us with an average of 30 less per game. And even Aluminij couldn't sellout the derby.
Speaking of it, the 1k mark once again was exceeded, but now Aluminij are gone and with that goes our money I guess.
Intake
SpoilerThe intake preview was kinda meh when already having a promising striker. Lack of wingers isn't that big of a problem for me.
Now sawing the intake itself made me wish for that striker, cause now we've got 4 promising left backs in the club and no club is willing to pay transfer fees in 2.SNL. I now have to retrain them, let's look at the top 3:
There is Mario Spiegel a half Slovak half Austrian from Bratislava. He has good Mentals and decent pace but lacks height, he will probably stay as a left back, but I have to see where his technicals will develop.
Borut won't stay a left back, he will probably slot into defensive midfield as he lacks pace and is a bit taller but nowhere near the first team for now.
And then there is mister unambitious with 16 Determination. Mister 2 meters with 3 heading and 5 strength. I think I already love you - mister Zvonko.

Season 2 - 2025/26History
League
SpoilerWelcome welcome! Second season is finished, top half this time. Really consistent season, no negative streaks at all. Home record top 4 of the league, away record bottom 4, I think that summarizes it pretty well. In terms of promotion and relegation the "new" teams left the league after 1 year. After 2 seasons nearly every team in the league got taken over by some business men but as it seems none of them are now saudi rich or anywhere near it. We maanged to get a third sponsorship deal covering up for the affiliate team costs. But we still losing money, not much but in 4th season I guess we go into the reds. Back to the football, the first 3 players from our U19 debuted...
... with Sinisa and Marko already 2 of them going straight into the season's best eleven. Dino was our man upfront, the man can score like a norwegian ballon d'or runner up. The midfield feeds him with juicy passes.
Nothing special at the award ceremony, but the first regen got a trophy. Our center back Marko is a passing machine (with some errors).
That a croatian is the best player in a slovenian team, shows the current state of football here quite well.
Stadium
Spoiler2 new high passion fans bought a season ticket this time. We're making progress...
...more people come and watch our games. Because of Beltinci we dropped to 5th place, next season they are gone and we reach for Tabor's numbers. (hopefully)
El Clasico once again was a crowd puller with two losses for us. But since we have like 19 fans noone really cares about the result.
Intake
SpoilerDecent intake again, unfortunately this time they are all turning 17 in May 2027 - after the season.
Kristian is the fancy striker don't know what he's capable of with that 17 Flair, probably turning up at Tour de France with all the bicycle kicks.
Darko gets the crowd going with his crosses, but gets blown away by the wind.
Friday joined on a Wednesday and is our first foreign youth player. Drava Ptuj has a nigerian affiliate and that now bear fruit. He is also the wind that blows Darko away looking at his players traits.

History
SpoilerLeague
SpoilerThe season was a wild up and down, we started pretty decent and managed to never get into relegation zone. At home we were quite good but away from home we had some problems (15th in the away table). For me it was a challenge to find the right tactics, ended up trying 10 different ones and now sticking to a solid 4141 short passing system. Dren was the other team that got promoted with us, they never had any chance to stay in the league.
Our best eleven is basically the whole squad, we had to start with 2 grey players because of U21 rules and none of the real players is that young. Pretty solid all around, the keeper has good atrributes but lacks height, but without him we would be relegated imo.
Awards nothing special, Erhatič as you can see below, is a decent player he was the motor of the whole squad.
Stadium
SpoilerWith one of the biggest stadiums in the league we have the problem of very empty home games...
...but we managed to consistently get nearly 200 fans to watch our matches,...
...having a rival with Aluminij in the league really pushed our avg attendance, hopefully this rivalry can reach higher spheres in the future.
Intake
SpoilerDecent first intake aswell. 2 Defenders are important, as our current ones are 30+ years old and slow af. 2 Keepers, meh, but I take it maybe we can now sell our star keeper. Biggest problem is that I have to wait till August to give the first prospect some minutes in the first teams due to U17 rules in Slovenia, the good ones then follow in December with their birthdays.
Marko is the first player I'm looking forward to use him in the first team. He lacks tempo, of course, but apart from this solid defender for second division football.
Boris is the gem of the intkae, his mentals are juicy, he needs like 17 years to move and when he moves he instantly falls thanks to his physicals but I can form him to a good player (at least that's waht I hope). But he turns 17 in 2026, so no updates on him next season I guess.
Some good personalities already with balanced HOYD. Everyone was born in Ptuj so the Power BI map visual is useless. But anyway:

Start of career
Manager
Starting in Slovenia this time just because of vibes. The club is called FC Drava Ptuj, located in Ptuj a small town with a population of 18k, near the river Drava hence the name. I can tell that many of you have heard from a similar club before and yes you're right. The club NK Drava Ptuj was once a solid first league team in Slovenia but in the 2010/11 season the club was unable to pay for the license and was dissolved after. Biggest success was a 0:2 loss on aggregate against croatian team Slaven Belupo in the 2005 Intertoto Cup. The successor club was formed as a youth club in 2004 and after all the dissolving sh*t it became the main club. We have the 4th biggest stadium in the 2. SNL with a capacity of 2,207 which can be expanded to 4,000. Every pother facility is basic as expected for a semi-pro club.
Now the problem is, in Slovenia you can't play under 17s in the first team, don't know how bad this will hit me. I have other problems. Another rule is, that you have to start 2 under 21s in every league game, won't be a problem in the future but for now I have excactly 0 (in words zero) under 21 year olds in the club, besides our beloved grey players. So I'm basically playing with 3 subs in 2 stoppages.
Football wise it's going average for now, started good, now bad, classic home team. Update will follow unless I get fired.
Start of the year a takeover took place, but I think the following screenshot can explain my feelings about this quite good:
Looking at all the Japan enjoyers here, I am a bit jealous.
My goal this year is to create fancy Power BI reports of my Youth Challenge(s) so that all the hard work I get paid for was worth it.

Second Season in Uruguay!
After a decent first season only losing on playoffs by a few points, we couldn't make the playoffs. The only difference, we finished on the other side. Topping the table after 22 matches means, we don't have to play any more matches. We got promoted as champions! It basically was a better copy of the first season, scored more, conceded fewer, more developed players. The Vignone Brothers scored for fun, together they were responsible for 35 out of 48 goals. The start of the season was a bit tricky as we lost the best youth player to Uruguayan powerhouse Penarol. I was able to get 95k + 50% sell on clause, which is a high fee for a national transfer. Additionally we got a friendly against the 51-times champion, this really helped the damaged financial side of Bella Vista. Because of that issue, we still have to wait for the first facility upgrade. Plans to build a new stadium have not progressed any further. For the next season, I don't expect very much, I would be quite surprised, if we could avoid relegation. Maybe we could snap up some sponsorship deals. The biggest challenge is going to be the league system. Opening Stage, Closing Stage, Intermediate Stage, Playoffs, Average Points - let's see!

First Season in Uruguay!
It was a decent first season, our goal was to fight bravely against relegation. We exceeded that by finishing 7th in a league consisting of 12 teams. 3 of which aren't located in Montevideo. Most important for this success were the perfomances of the two Vignone brothers. Lucas and Facundo scored for fun in the frist few games. Facundo, the older one, had few worse games in the end of the season, but thanks to his younger brother who made up for him, we didn't got into any relegation trouble. Lucas even became the Top Scorer in Segunda Division, scoring 20 Goals over the course of it. I'm quite happy to not finish in the Top6 because the team was their physical limit and more matches in the playoffs would only result in injuries. Next season 3 players won't be there anymore because of retirements. But the youth intake in january will provide new players to compensate for them. Our key Youth Prospect Rubén Dias (see below) is wanted by both top clubs Penarol and Nacional, so it's going to be hard to hold him another season. The board is also in planning phase for a new stadium because the current one is not getting younger and maintenance costs are high. Additionaly, in the past season we had to share the ground with 2 other clubs, so a new stadium would also lead to better pith througout a season. Let's see if we can achieve a playoff spot next year.

Welcome to Uruguay!
After my first try in Jena, Germany I moved to Uruguay. In my last post I said, that I wouldn't start in a top country again. So on my list were countries like Bulgaria, Hungary or Romania. But none of them has the little thing I was searching for. Then South America came to my mind. The league systems in basically every country except Chile are so confusing that I was hooked the first second. So why Uruguay? To sum it up, I fell in love with their football in the early 2010s in the international cups. So I read about the nation and especially their football leagues, and I found out that nearly every club is based in the capital Montevideo, which leads to many rivalries between the clubs.

Quick update, after a really bad start I wasn't able to turn the ship around. In the last few matches the players were unhappy with me, which led to me getting sacked. But I had a nice few seasons, I'm 100% trying this challenge again. But for the next time I think picking a smaller, not Big5 country.
But for now I will follow your youth adventures. Thanks for having me!

Impressive results, but I'm even more impressed by Palomino, Sakai and De Roon and their physical atributes. The decline is nowhere to be seen. Are you doing any special training sessions over the season, maybe in international break, to keep the physicals that high?

Speaking from personal experience, that will be what you will be relying on for the next couple of season as you build up your squad with intakes over time. The £13.55M each season for avoiding the bottom 3 will do very nicely for your finances.
Yeah sure, I think most of the financial issues were caused by the rapid promotion in third tier, everybody got his promotion pay rise of like 30%, then the board took some money to build a stadium
So I would assume it's not always that good to get promoted as fast as possible, as long as you aren't RB Leipzig IRL

FC Carl-Zeiss Jena
Season Review 2022/23
First season in German second tier went pretty good. Despite the odds seeing us dead last we managed to avoid relegation by finishing league in 11th place. Winning the first few matches, we never were in real relegation struggles. Thanks to Halle (promoted together with us last season) and Sandhausen, who both had a really poor season, we only had to avoid relegation playoffs. In the last two matches we could line up some of the youth prospects. At the start of the season I was unsure about our chances against Hamburg and Frankfurt, but we managed to beat Frankfurt once in our game of the season, where GK Verstappen got a 9.3 by saving EVERY FCKING shot. Off the pitch it was basically a financial battle, unfortunately we weren't able to upgrade any of the facilities. We got some offers for Slamar and Bergmann, who together with Grösch are the only players considered 2nd tier players, but none of those offers was any good. The rest of the team is just "not good enough" for the rest of the league, so we kept all of them.
TLDR; overperforming, financial trouble, mid-table, same squad

I'm currently using a DM pairing and also tried HB together with SVs, what I think is, that the HB stays to deep while attacking, meaning it's harder to recycle posession in some cases, an Anchorman seems to push up a little bit higher in these situations. This doesn't mean, that he is roaming very often (obv. cause of Hold Position) but if there is a need to recycle posession and set up a new attack he comes to help the SVs.

Back in Jena!
After some months off, I'm finally going to continue this save.
Short recap, we finished 2nd in our first season and got promoted to 2nd tier of German football. Hamburg is back to second tier after one season in Bundesliga, even Frankfurt got relegated, so I expect some heavy losses. BUT with the results of last season, I'm optimistic to avoid relegation, stay in 2. Bundesliga and get the prize money to improve the facilities. That being said, this season we have to play together with Erzgebirge Aue in their stadium, cause our new local stadium (Hans Meyer Stadium) is currently being built. Funfact: Aue is over 100km away from Jena, means we have to travel an hour to play "at home".
Quick reminder: I started this save at the very beginning of FM21, means players under 17 are not eligible to play in German professional football.
Time to prove them all wrong.

@Oakland StomperI'm currently using this one, sometimes I play with a Much Higher DL and SKa cause of Sven Ulreich who's capable of dealing with One-on-ones
and I removed the time waste instruction, I usually lower the tempo and switch to shorter passing when matches are close in the 70s and further
imo defensive wingers are key, having Jatta left and Narey right, both very hardworking players going up and down their flanks

History
Start Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4
League
Season started pretty good with 21 points in 14 games and 6th place with like 13 points more than the last placed team, as you can see the remaining 22 games went not as good and we confirmed the 1001.00 odds to win the league.
Stadium
Also last place in average attendance because of "our" small stadium.
At least we're first place looking at the capacity %...
...and in the sell out table.
The good start really fcked me, in the winter the board raised their expectations to "avoid relegation" and I wasn't able to do that. 5 matches before the end, I thought, they won't sack me, because they would've done it by now, hence prepared for next season and gave the youth prospects some time. Results then got better (we scored at least while conceding 3+ per game). And after the last match and a quick talk, I got sacked.
Summary
Now I take a break, after that maybe I go to Germany to manage my home team or go back to Slovenia, but before that I have to learn the game lol.
