  1. Has anyone else not paid much attention to the clauses in contracts and let this sneaky one financially cripple your club?

I'm spending £4.5m p/w on wages but am still losing money like crazy so went into the finances and noticed my bonus expenditure was ridiculous. I've got a couple of big bonuses for goals and assists on 3 key players which they always get but I don't mind that.

I then had a look at my appearance fees. If I pick my strongest 11 in my mind on top of the weekly wage I'm spending another £608,500 per match!!! I had 7 games in my last month. Thats another £4.2m on top of the £4.5m p/w I'm already spending! No wonder I'm £30m in the red!

Hello I m wish i could start a save without doubts beacause when I start a save (always in Portugal)  I keep motivated for a day or two but then I Start to see defects in everthing in my save.

And I want to know what keeps you motivated in a long term save

It depends how you like to play. Some people only like using real players so find the game boring after 5-6 seasons, others (like me) only really enjoy it once it's only newgens meaning the save doesn't really start until 10 seasons in!

I started my save unemployed with the aim to become one of the best managers in the game and then join the club I support at whatever level they are to 'rescue them'.

After one season at Skovde I was offered the Brommapojkarna job in Swedish 2nd division. I spent 23 seasons there while my mini-aim was to get as many great players through my youth system as possible. I had an amazing forward who wouldn't sign a contract and left of a free so that was my cue to leave so I went to Lyon. Only spent 2 seasons there but won Ligue 1 once before the Bristol City job came up in the Championship. Applied got it and have since led them to 7 straight prem titles in the 13 season I have been there. This is almost solely down to a newgen I have in AMC who scores 30 goals and assists 50 a season. A real freak of nature.

As my original aim is 'complete' I'm now seeing how well I can get this newgen to perform how many goals, assists and MoM he can get in his career.

I also have the aim to beat Frank Lampard in the Manager Hall of Fame after he won 20 League Titles...

I keep my game fresh by setting long term and short term targets. Once they are completed, I set more!

As stated in the title, I would like to try to access stats from player's that have retired in the past in my league.  I know some players become coaches so we can see those player's histories but what about those that don't??

Also wondering if there is any way to see which players have scored the most goals in the game history? It look's like the individual leagues show most goals by a player in a single season but not for a full career. Would be nice to be able to track it.

I am pretty sure that I am unable to do both of these but it's worth a shot to ask. Thanks for your help :D

For this, if you go to the globe icon > awards > team of the year > all time team of the year it shows you the best 11 players of your save. That normally includes the best goal scorers.

My last intake was described as 'mediocre' and most them were

But it did have a "could be the best player of his generation" in there as well!

Golden generation is just compared to the quality of your team (I think), whereas best player of his generation could be a Messi/Ronaldo type player.

  5. Generally, the higher the attribute, the better the player is at that.

I don't mean to be rude, I know you are making a patch where you seemingly have re-done the attributes, but you don't seem to know what any of them are? I get the feeling it's going to be a bit of a disaster!

As @Tig212 wrote, I had two stadiums built in FM19(or FM20, can't quite remember) in the span of 5-7 years. Posted the images a while back, so if you want confirmation, then just have a search through my post history here.

As for expansions or building a new stadium, I'm certain there is no clear cut line to cross. In general, there are two keys, interest and financial (plus the "max expansion" set in the data files, viewable in the editor). If you regularly sell out the stadium and have continued success, then that will push it as more likely. The other part is how well of the club is, since both expansions, and especially, a new stadium costs a lot. Things can also depend on the attributes of the chairman/owner and how ambitious they are. Since there is a risk/reward in doing these things, the board might have reservations. Some times, all you need is a takeover before it's approved.

Building a stadium can also take a long time. Even after the board accepts, it can take several years before the paperwork and location is set, and even then it might take more years.

Only the 8,769 posts to check then! :P

  7. My first reaction was noway do loads of players get to 150 caps in game, just checked mine and I have 22 players over 150 caps which does seem a lot to me. There's a few lower level countries such as Curacao, Angola, Iraq and Wales in there but there's a few good countries too.

I have 286 players with more than 100 caps! that does seem crazy! I don't know what the current IRL numbers would be though?

So my club is like $10M in the red. The main issue is that i was given $1,4M for spending on salaries so I started to hire more and better players. Once I noticed the red numbers I found out that in spite of having that salary budget, the club raises $240000 each month.

So that alone made a big gap. Now I'm almost to get in Copa Libertadores (South America Champions League) and that will give me $3M and will get another $3M for finishing in the top spots of the league table. But then? Should I sell my best players to cut off salaries and get some money for selling them? Maybe I shouldn't care because at the end of the day I still can manage the team?

Thanks for reading and move the topic if it doesn't belong here!

You don't necessarily have to sell your best players to get you back in the black. You're able to keep them if you can sell 2/3 squad players for £3-4m each and they will also be easier to replace for free/cheap.

For example, my English Prem team is spending £4.2m p/w on wages, and despite TV money, previous season league placement money and Champions League money, the small size of our stadium (23,000) cannot maintain that level of wages. I build up around £80-90m in my bank account at the start of the year and then by the end of the year I'm close to the red.

I wait until the end of season before my back up players contract expire and any who are worth a bit but don't perform as well as I want them too or if I find a better young player, I will offer out for just under their actual value. If they are valued at £36m, I'll offer them out for £30m and you normally get a couple of offers at that.

I've just sold 3 players like this for a total of £82m and replaced them with 3 new back-up players for £46m (£22.5m, £23m and a free). I've also reduced my wage budget by around £100k p/w. That extra £36m is my buffer to swallow my large wage budget.
