    I’ve had a few great saves so far this FM.

    Palermo - Torino - United

    South Shields

    I started Bordeaux in the third division but feel it’s just too easy as half the players are happy which clearly isn’t right. Looking for something new, would be keen for a European save still, maybe avoiding the top 5 leagues, I’ve done Croatia and Belgium in the past and loved them. Has anyone got any other suggestions? Don’t want to start absolutely too low, but clubs I’ve managed before were Gent and Hajduk Split, loved them as they weren’t the top teams but toppling the big boys was difficult, afterwards turns into a sort of journeyman. Don’t mind starting with weaker than these in their leagues as long as it’s not a small small club. Was thinking either this or effectively a proper non league to legend which I haven’t done in a few years in England as that’s what some of my best saves were. Open to suggestions, any comments at all would be greatly appreciated!

    Sweden with Brommapojkarna. I think they start in the 2nd division, but have excellent youth facilities. You might be able to beat the big boys in Sweden with an entire team made up of youth players.

  2. For the wages side, I find that having a self-imposed wage cap helps massively with what players will ask for when you sign them as well as when you are offering contract extensions.

    At one point, I was spending about £9m p/m on wages including a winger on £625k p/w a goalie on £450k p/w and lots on £300k p/w. I would be trying to sign a 19 year old youth prospect for my. u-23s and he'd want £110k p/w!

    Eventually these high wage players retired or were sold and I didn't really sign anyone of replace them using youth players as back up and promoting previous back up to first team and my wages have got down to £5.7m p/m, which is still high obviously but brings it in-line with the others at the top of the league.

    I now never get contract extensions or new players asking for more that £300k p/w and I find there is a lot more room for negotiation in reducing their requests without having to change any contract bonuses like signing on fee, etc.

    Ive never got that far but I want to on this FM, I can imagine it can be really cool. How do you keep up to date with the best players, managers etc. Do you make good use of the news and social media screens?

    For me, I’m playing at the top level so you see the same teams similar to now so you get to learn the players. There are a few out lying teams such as Go Head Eagles are by far the best team in Netherlands and often get to the last 4 of the Champions League. Norwich and Villa are Champions League regulars.

    Arsenal and Tottenham are championship clubs, PSG are a mid table Ligue 1 club, Barcelona are Europa League.

    I do use the social media function quite a lot, when it gives you teams best performing 3 players over a month you can pick up some good players depending on the teams.

    Man, that's almost identical to me.

    I'm still working on my only FM21 save and am just coming to the end of the 2075/76 season. Onto my sixth club and second generation of manager now!

    I've said it before on here, but I really love getting deep into the game, because you're then creating your own unique footballing world, as opposed to just tinkering with the real one.

    4th club (+ 1 short England role) and same Manager profile for me

    Hi all.

    I’ve played FM for many many years but never really got very far as I just hate micro managing every single aspect.

    Many years ago I remember playing Player manager and LMA manager while a friend played FM and I had completed a season in the time it took them to play 2 games, I guess I prefer arcadey style management game, quick & exciting.

    For me all I want to do is search for and buy & sell players, set a formation, pick the team, play the game and complete a season in a few hours.

    My plan is to create a club in the lowest league possible and try to gain promotion to the premier league.

    Is this possible or do I have to do everything like training each individual player – which is one of my main hates or deal with player moods & contracts e.t.c

    I have FM 2020 and 2020 touch but will happily buy 2022 if needed.

    Thank you.

    Katie.

    I'm a big fan of "I Need Air" with Magnetic Man you did. Saw you in Manchester about 12 years ago!

    To complete one season of my Wolfsburg save...

    I've got a decent (I think) Acer Nitro 5 laptop so I guess it's just a combination of too many leagues loaded and my attention to detail that slows it all down.

    Undecided as to whether I'm comfortable with this pace of play or whether I want to zip through seasons quicker like seemingly everyone else does.

    Thoughts???

    It's taken me 1,664 hours on FM21 to get 50 years in the future, so that's averaging at 33.3 hours per season.

    I never change tactics and pretty much just race from match to match and then take a bit more time in the close season when reviewing staff & player contracts and scouting.

    Up to you where it's moved to Grifty. Have a look around the forums for where it suits best, but just make sure it falls within their own particular set of guidelines as each sub-section will have their own house rules. Then let us know, and we'll sort out moving it if that's possible.

    How about Good Player and Team Guide? I'll amend the thread title so it's a bit clearer what the thread is about.

    Hi Grifty and welcome to FMS

    Hope you've had a good Christmas, just a quick note regarding your story please note the House Rules regarding the use of screenshots...

    Cheers Mark

    Ah sorry mate, just found them on the main page but they are the same colour as the background so missed it.

    Please feel free to move to the correct area of the forum, I thought the Stories bit was best for this.

  9. It's come to the point where my favourite and best player in any FM or CM game has decided to hang up his boots and i wanted to share his career and have a permanent record of his achievements for me to look at in the future.

    I signed this fresh-faced guy for a cool £13.25m release clause in around my 3rd season in the Prem.

    Barbosa.thumb.PNG.4d95e8399ef9acca9551601e34b38475.PNG

    I started him as a DLP on support, but didn't feel I was getting the best out of him, so changed my formation from a 3-1-4-2 to a 3-4-1-2 pushing up into an AM (A) role and he just took off.

    1319648061_Barbosa2.thumb.PNG.faf251a1758ea9d9173a1bc8dca64049.PNG

    It was getting to the point it felt like he was getting a goal and/or an assist almost every game;

    230853259_Barbosa5.thumb.PNG.74e77dfa9a04e8c27e12aa76f15d9517.PNG

    His highest goal tally in one season was 43, while his highest assist was 50.

    The older he got, he would still regularly be my highest average player over the season culminating in his final and at the age of 36, in a quintuple winning team, he was STILL my highest average rated player over a season;

    1832340566_BarbosaAve.thumb.PNG.4769389d621e60812c849184c6e920d7.PNG

    These are his final attributes;

    121704072_BarbosaFinal.thumb.PNG.44c73d9e81bf29b7a593b5630e4177c1.PNG

    Can't run anymore, but his mentals are still unreal and his physicals still have the high ones where it matters. 13 goals and 16 assists in 27 games at 37 years old.

    His total appearances, goals, assists and MoMs for each competition & total are as follows;

                                        League         Cup         Europe          Total

    Appearances             586(5)           132          176(2)            894(7)

    Goals                           320               77             101                498

    Assists                         340               91             124                555

    MoM                            185              42               73                 300

    Over 1000 goal contributions in 900 games and a man of the match every 3rd. His competition wins and personal awards are just unreal too;

    OK I want an explanation from SI directly then as to why morale is the most important factor in Football Manager 2022. And I have over 300 hours on this game, I know what I'm talking about, it's not an opinion, it's a literal fact at this stage. I'm supposed to be playing a football management simulator, not a morale management one. Alot of people will call me out because they will blindly support this game despite its many problems because they love the game. I love this game too, I just want the best for it.

    You don't think part of being a football manager includes managing your players morale?

    You annoy your captain, all the players stick up for him and you wonder why their moral drops?

    Dunno, I do find this pretty weird. Czech Republic has a better economy (per capita) than Italy, Spain, and Portugal. It's about the same level as the UK and France. They have access to the same amenities everyone else has. Prague itself is amazing, and if I were forced to move to any city in Europe, that would be in the top 5 spots.

    Just looked it up.. Prague rates higher than the vast bulk of European cities in terms of quality of life. Higher than London, Madrid, Rome, Porto, Paris. A little worse than Berlin.

    See I read it in the game that levels of infrastructure refers to the size of stadiums, quality of training complexes and coaching. Standard of living would refer to the wages, signing on fee, bonuses, etc the player would be able to get.

    I wouldn't see the game actually saying a player would look at the amount of public transport and how often his bins are collected to choose Prague over Paris...

    Hi guys.

    Playing through a Sparta Prague save. I'm fairly bottlenecked by what countries I can pick players from. Players seems to turn me down due to level of infrastructure and standards of living.

    I am mostly talking about French, UK and Italian players.

    Sometimes it isn't an issue and sometimes it is?

    Out of interest, how many French, UK or Italian players play for them currently?

  13. I'm able to sell players for what I feel is a good acceptable level of money on a regular basis on FM21. There's a few things that I've noted which has helped.

    1. Performance - The better my players perform, the more offers I get and the higher value they are. Seems pretty obvious really, but the AI are going to be more interested in players performing well.

    2. Game time - Even if the players perform well in the few games I play them, the more they play, the more interest they get. for this reason, I'd prefer to send out fringe players on loan, have them play more games and then potentially sell them when they return.

    3. Offering out players - I usually offer out players for their market value + £5-10m depending on the player value. i.e a £40m player with 3 years left on his contract, I'll offer out for £45-50m. Generally I'll get 2 offers which are around £20m, but I'll always get an offer for his market value and often 1 at the price I offered them out at. I've found this works much better on younger players on the fringes rather than first team regulars.

    1147689293_TransfersOut1.PNG.b42dd051333f143cbfc1a07a7664a70e.PNG

    So as an example, I wanted to shift 3-4 fringe players who were OK and replace them with some real quality. Ferrante, Cleal & Paul were all youth intake players from various years and only played about 25 league games between them the season before. I offered Ferrante & Cleal out for market value and got 3-4 offers for each. Paul I offered for £7m above market value because he's only 20 and got 2 offers.

    Campos was worth £72m so only lost £4m on his value. Leitao was only worth £40, but I had spent £78m on him so lost a bit there. If I was more into it, you can always negotiate harder and get an even better deal.
