@Experienced Defender thanks for the advice. Not home atm but my instructions iirc are
Shorter passing, Play out of defence, Be more expressive
Higher defensive line, Higher line of engagement, Offside trap
Positive mentality
Drop down to balanced, you'll move the ball around nicely until an opening appears,

Damn! Didn't think he'd get too much better, he's out on loan as per his promise he wanted when he signed his new contract
If he's a regular starter while he's out on loan he'll develop, the when he comes back start playing him.
I've done the same with Hannibal and now he's ready for the 1st team so much so i've accepted a £79m bid from R.Madrid for 30 year old Pogba.

Have been looking at Garcia myself with him wanting to leave at the end of his contract as first season and I also have Badiashile haven't played much easing him in while not got english language but then I will expect him to become the partner for Maguire atleast until Maguire finds somewhere else to go which by end of the second season I'm hopeful of he will be sold at the latest.
Ah was thinking his fee may go down in season or so time but appears not lol
Don't forget Mengi.

What happened to Edwards because I noticed you signed him a while back? I will be playing with a CF (A) in a 4231 also so Barbosa may be a good signing for me, although Martial plays well there from what I've tested on FMT.
He's been out on loan for 2 seasons, he has a very negative attitude in my save which is a real put off.

Odegaard cost £120m, not all upfront, 80 + 40 in addons, i bought him at the start of season 3.Once again there is no realism in transfer costs. That is the City Garcia at centre-back, he alongside Badiashile are a fantastic pairing with Mengi and now Kambwala as rotation when one of them needs a rest for the start of season 4

Do you still have Marcus Edwards? I was wondering who played better for you at AMR between him and Barbosa. Also how does Camavinga look for you? I'm definitely aiming to sign him, he's my number 1 priority CM.
Barbosa plays upfront,Diallo and Greenwood on the right.Camavinga is a must buy.

Season 22/23 started with something of a reality check as we lost the first 2 games of the season at home to City and away to Arsenal but the football was good and the panic wasn't to severe because we soon found our feet and ran away with the title.
Leicester had a shocking season and managed to get themselves relegated.
Once again we were knocked out early in the Carabao Cup,lost the FA Cup final 0-3 to Liverpool but managed to beat Real Madrid on penalties in the Champions League final after dominating in a 0-0 draw.
Player of the season was Gabriel Barbosa.
The 4231 is still serving me well, tinkering with mentality down to balanced from positive as it is already a top heavy formation and on positive the front 4 could be too aggressive and not track back enough either.
Finally i've stumbled across something of a corner exploit.I managed to score 16 goals this season
I haven't seen anything on the forum to suggest there is,It's a simple set up.

From corners.

How are people getting on with corners?3rd season and i've managed 14 goals after 29 games!!

Same issue for me , 3rd season as Man United played Arsenal twice away, certainly not a game ruining bug though

Going into season two finishing second.
Got 95m so not a lot to work with.
Being quoted mega fees for almost all players.
On top of that, while I'm finding it easy to offload Jones, Bailly, Matic, Pereira and maybe De Gea, freaking Luke Shaw, who has got offers has said he doesn't want to leave and has handcuffed himself to the club. Ffs.
I'm also averse to Torres because his mentals have taken a downgrade, and for me, the most important attributes for a defender are those mental abilities. It's why I've never signed Upamecano.
Its to the point now where I'm considering Eric Garcia on a free.
Garcia is fantastic for me on the right with Badieshille (spelling) on the left.

My youth don't look to bad.I've had 2 intakes so far and I reckon at least 6 players could be developed quite nicely. Doesn't feel buggy to me.

I prefer the width offered by Saka on the left, stretching high and wide - Lacazette the casualty of that approach. The CF(A) is for when you want the best of both worlds - link play and a threat in behind. The AP(s) is not as much of a chance creator for me as I would expect in previous years. I know the flanks are where I create most, so the 10 is effectively a decoy to attract attention.
The way you're set up with your wide players, the number 10 role looks ideal for a shadow striker .

@axehan1 Is Badashiele that good that he is your first choice DC (along L.Felipe)?
Finishing 1st in PL with both cups won and playing vs Barca in UCL finale.
Apart from a 6 week injury he was my 1st choice left sided cb,still has plenty of development ahead of him.

Season 2 review
Once again it turned into a two horse race between ourselves and Liverpool who chocked right at the end again.
Our run to the final was a lot more straight forward this time with just a minor hiccup away to Atletico and the final was a lot easier than i was expecting.
The FA Cup run was flawless, not a single goal conceded on the way to winning it against Norwich in the final
We now have a settled tactic, that dominates, scores plenty and is solid at the back.
Season 3 is fast approaching. We were given £179m in transfer funds at the end of season 2 so we are doing some business both in and out before the season starts.

No idea why people are so quick to get rid of Luke Shaw. Him and Mendes from Sporting are perfect down the left hand side for me and he hardly gets injured.

January season 2 and it's a 2 horse race between ourselves and Liverpool who sacked Klopp at the end of season 1 and hired Bielsa
We are playing some good stuff, not scoring loads but hardly conceding.
We made one signing in the January window
I'm more than happy with this signing(the board objectives are to buy English players).I tried to buy him during the summer but Chelsea rejected the offer so he put in a transfer request at the beginning of the winter window.

Anyone going to buy Gabriel Barbosa? I managed to buy him for £25m at the start of season 2, he is well worth a punt, can play as a striker or just as happy out on the right wing.

Great read, one question, how, on positive mentality do you get to instruct those players to all close down more?Aside from the PF on attack duty who already is on close down more and the CM on attack(the same)how do you get the wide players to close down more?

Just about to start season 2,lost to City 1-2 in the community shield and beat Roma 2-1 in the Super Cup
A strong transfer window saw us snap up Donnarumma on a free,Declan Rice got relegated with West Ham so he was cheaper than he should have been. The blockbuster transfer saw us beat a host of clubs to sign wonderkid Camavinga from Rennes and Balotti was transfer list by Torino for just £11.5m so he came in to back up Rashford up front.Nuno Mendes also came in from Sporting(that transfer went through in season 20/21),what a player he's going to be.
How did we balance the books?Barcelona bid £92m for Martial and although he was happy to stay,I accepted the bid.
This is how we look.

[FM21] Manchester United: A club stuck in transition

If I was to buy him I'd think about retraining him to the fullback position. He has good defensive stats and is obviously very good at going forward. You then have a versatile player in your squad.
